Hey man, welcome to the RuneScape Wiki. I look forward to your contributions here.--Richard 20:45, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi[edit source]

Hey its me from runescape. Jcantrell 01:00, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Great job[edit source]

Excellent work on the popular culture stuff man. I was wondering if it's OK to use that stuff on the main page in like a Did you know? thing, like on the RuneScape portal on Wikipedia.--Richard 21:41, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

 • Sure, that sounds great! --Ixfd64 22:15, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Apologies[edit source]

Hey, just a tip[edit source]

It's usually better to reply to someone on their own talk page, with a header that's the same as the subject on your page, but with a "Re: " before it. Most people can't be bothered to check everyone else's talk pages for messages meant for themselves. =) Oddlyoko 23:08, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Very old game updates[edit source]

Where did you find the articles for those 3 updates you added? The game updates at end at Members' quests (23-Jul-2002). -- Couchpotato99 (talk) (contribs) 17:36, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

 • Unfortunately, Jagex did not keep any news items prior to July 23rd, 2002. To make matters worse, Jagex has asked Alexa Internet not to archive the RuneScape site. [1] The Rune Tips news archive contains some official news items prior to July 23rd, 2002. However, Rune Tips was often inactive in the early days, so it does not have every news item. --Ixfd64 21:04, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

¡Qué interesante![edit source]

Where do you discover such interesting tidbits as this?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hyenaste (talk).

Quest guide stubs[edit source]

I'm not sure it's a good idea just to make stubs of quest articles. Leaving them as redlinks shows us they are incomplete - if they're blue we might think they're done and ignore them when looking for a quest guide to write. I know I would. JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 21:20, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

 • Hmm, that's a good point. Also, would it be a good idea to indicate any imcomplete guides on the quests article? --Ixfd64 21:25, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

popular culture page[edit source]

This is good =)

I think the pyramid in desert treasure is largely based on The Mummy series of films.

Ape atoll and the monkey madness quests have echoes of Planet of the apes. I can't remember any specific references though.

HP Lovecraft referenced in Slug Menace - talk to the fishing shop guy. Some notes in Witchaven about it.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Eucarya (talk).

One of the songs Mind over Matter is a popular phrase used often in philosophy. It was popularlised in the 1960's, 1970's.

Hi again lol[edit source]

Hey its me, Jcantrell from runescape.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

Wow...[edit source]

Most of these are not even Popular Culture references.

"Players may see a wandering cat named Bob, who gives the text "The Jagex cat" upon examination. A Jagex staff member has stated that Bob is based on a real cat in the Jagex office. In A Tail of Two Cats, the player gets to interact with Bob."???  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

 • Not everything mentioned on that page is a popular culture reference. Anyways, I've made it less confusing. --Ixfd64 18:58, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm liking it. Is this developing into a full RSWiki article? JalYt-Xil-Vimescarrot 21:15, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Cool stuff. I've done some analysis on KQ trips (done 200 trips without a drop). I'll add to the article, delete or ammend if you dont like it. --Miw 09:57, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
Added some text, but lacks links to statistics. Interesting questions:
 • what is a good estimator for (rare) drops? How many kills does one need to say that the odds of getting a particular drop is 1 in 100?
 • I have seen various debates on woodcutting speed. What (if any) is the relationship between wc speed and wc levels? It would be nice to have a statistically solid design of an experiment.
 • How can one obtain a decent average hit estimate from a long sequence of monster kills. What is the impact of the last hit (limited by the remaining hitpoints of the opponent) which introduces a form of non-linearity into the analysis.
 • Is it possible to discover more on the random generator used in the game? There seems to be a tendency of clustering, that is manifest in several drop lists. This could be some kind of imagination, or it could be a side effect of the random generator that drives so many aspects of the game.
 • Some player state that there is some type of starting up penalty. As they stay longer with a particular activity they see their results improving. How can they verify such a hypothesis?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Miw (talk).

Broken links[edit source]

Hello, one of the projects that a few members of the wiki have recently taken up includes tackling Wanted Pages to try to remove red links that are not article names. It seems that either your userpage or talk page have links to articles that no longer exist. I’m sending this message to ask you to remove these red links for your pages, or in 2-3 days I will do it myself. If for some reason you would like to keep the links (and the only case I could see of this is if you are trying to retrieve a forum thread that has been deleted, and have not yet been in contact with Hyenaste) then please leave me a message on my talk page as soon as possible so that I know not to remove these links. If you are unsure of what links your page may include, again please leave a message on my talk page. This is what I plan to do:

 • Replace any forum links with link text you had previously or, if its just a link to a forum I will replace it with Forum:old forum name
 • If your page includes a link to a signature that does not exist (most likely Total Rune’s) I will replace the bad link with User name
 • Links to fake items will be replaced simply with the item name
 • Links to non-existant images will be removed completely
 • Links to non-existant user subpages will most likely be replaced with Subpage name

Thank you for your cooperation, and please leave any questions on my talk page. ChristineTalk 15:28, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

I saw and the reference, and it caught my eye because (to my knowledge) many of those items mentioned in the reference were released months after the supposed date of the drop party. Do you think you might have the year wrong or something? ʞooɔ 06:59, May 7, 2011 (UTC)

Future[edit source]

Hey man, just read through your predictions list, and many of them were accurate. I do have one correction for you, however, and it is that Gertjaars was NOT the first player to hit 1 billion experience. He was, in fact, fourth. Behind at least Zezima, Uloveme, and Yogosun. Metamorphic Geodes and Strange/Golden Rocks[edit source]

Hi! I noticed you made an edit to the metamorphic geode page, specifically adding the line "Although the player is "guaranteed" to get a rock they do not yet own, the rate is not 100%." I was wondering what you meant by this, as it was a contradictory statement (if it is guaranteed, then it would be 100%, else it is not guaranteed.) Mod Breezy stated that they are 100%, and I personally have not yet gotten a geode that did not contain a rock. Perhaps, if you did recieve one, you had a statue collection bag that was already full, or all the possible rocks were already in your bank? Are you eligible to recieve golden rocks (having Prifddinas unlocked etc.)? I just wanted to let you know because I have adjusted your edit on the page, but if you have evidence of the drop not being guaranteed, I would like to discuss it so we can have the most accurate information on the page. Vote in the Weird Gloop elections![edit source]

Hi Ixfd64!

Because of your involvement with the wiki, you are eligible to vote on the candidates for the board of Weird Gloop, the company that hosts the RuneScape and Old School RuneScape wikis.

See meta:Weird Gloop elections/2019/Candidates for candidate presentations, and meta:Weird Gloop elections for how to vote – it'll take maybe 5 minutes.

There are 4 candidates for RuneScape, 4 candidates for OSRS, and 1 candidate for pt-RuneScape. If you'd like to influence who represents the voices of these communities inside the company, I strongly encourage you to vote! You are one of only 204 people that meet the requirements, and this is a chance to help shape the future of the wikis.

Thanks! ʞooɔ 01:08, 23 December 2019 (UTC)

Disambig pages[edit source]

Hey! Thanks for making those disambig pages. Just a couple of notes: (1) when there's only two possible targets for a disambig page, a disambig isn't necessary. Make the disambig redirect to the more popular target of the two and use Template:Redirect on that page instead; (2) Template:Disambig goes on the bottom of the page, not the top. Old Woodcutting experience formula trivia[edit source]

Hi! I found on your contribution of the trivia that initially the experience given when woodcutting followed the formula 28.25 + level * 1.75, and wanted to query on that. Is that from own experience or is there some fansite that formula was featured or the experience they received at a particular level. I found one fansite with calculator that would indicate was similar equation of firemaking (25 + level * 1.75), and one where they indicated the experience they received (unfortunately they did not mention at what level it was observed). If its with the same formula of firemaking at level 38 would fit better (would have given calculated 91.5 and they reported 92 xp). Whereas with the formula you had placed if at level 36 would have been 91.25 and less likely to have placed as observed 92. These are the links which I found around:

Luis12345lts (talk) 16:26, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

 • For the Woodcutting and Firemaking skills, I know from experience that the XP per log increased with the player's level. However, this was a long time ago, and unfortunately I don't remember the exact formula. Ixfd64 (talk) 04:26, 7 February 2021 (UTC)

Aerated sediment artefacts[edit source]

Hi Ixfd, you changed the rarities for artefacts on Aerated sediment some time back on the basis of there being 32 artefacts. However, there don't seem to be that many by my count. Is this a mistake or is there something else I'm missing? Henneyj 19:46, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

Hmm... the page only shows 27 artifacts. I'm not sure where the figure of 32 artefacts came from. I might have copied it from earthen clay by mistake. Ixfd64 (talk) 21:40, 12 June 2021 (UTC)

Citations[edit source]

Hi. I've just been reminded about something. This is just a small request on my part. When adding citations to wiki pages, please use templates such as Template:CiteGeneral, Template:CiteReddit, and Template:CiteTwitter, as needed. I've noticed that you just dump the link between tags (one example here), and I had to correct a bunch of those over the past couple years. Using proper templates makes it clearer, easier to read, and look nicer. Thank you. 5-x Talk 11:46, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

Sure, I'll keep that in mind. On a side note, it would be useful we had the RefToolbar like on Wikipedia. Ixfd64 (talk) 16:00, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

RE: drop rates for deathspore arrow tips and splintering arrow tips[edit source]

Oh hi, I missed your message. Anyway:

 1. The drop chances are cached - enums IDs 16550 and 16551 are the mining and woodcutting chances respectively. (code_06, its mapping item ID : chance out of 1000). You can grab a download from if you want to check.
 2. I believe so, since the mapping is item ID and not location ID (i.e. not trees/rocks).
 3. Can't say, doesn't appear to be cached. Or at least I don't see it.

Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 17:07, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
