How to make all your edits in one easy step[edit source]

Click the big black button that says "Edit", instead of editing just one section, if your edits are going to span more than one. That way your edits might actually look intelligent, rather than like random experimentation more suited to the sandbox. Although, looking at my talk page, it seems you have trouble with the concept of doing things in one go. Small recharge gem.png AnselaJonla Slayer-icon.png 02:16, October 15, 2013 (UTC)

File:Wiki.png and its duplicate[edit source]

There was no need to go off on Spine about that. If all he sees is a duplicate, then it will be deleted as such.

May I suggest something? If you need to replace a sysop-locked file for any reason, such as having compressed it, then you could upload the file, put the {{merge}} template onto it, and directly alert an active sysop to the existence of the necessary merge. Cook, Suppa, Coel, Spine, Haidro and Ty are usually good options to contact. Just leaving a message for one is usually enough; if another sysop sees the message being left (by watching recent changes), then they will probably act on it themselves. The file appears to be subject to one of the more persistent wiki bugs, that sometimes prevents undeletion of some or part of the file history after a merge. We are endeavouring to fix it; unfortunately the ones that we know can work around it seem to be offline at the moment. Compression[edit source]

Why are you adding compress tags? Especially to small files. MolMan 17:26, October 23, 2013 (UTC)

Then you should compress them yourself. The bot is broken and no one is going to compress them. Especially leave it off if you plan to compress it yourself. Unless it's a particularly huge file (say 2MB+), please avoid tagging images for compression. MolMan 17:39, October 23, 2013 (UTC)
Elaborate. MolMan 17:43, October 23, 2013 (UTC)
If you're saying you're using a bot to compress files, you need to stop. Running a bot requires community consensus. Also, in your interests, it'd be better to just use an image compressor and optimize it yourself, instead of tagging it just so you can get the image and then untagging it moments later. I still don't understand why you can't just download the file yourself to compress it or modify the code you're using in some way to read inputs for file names. There's no real reason to be adding files to a category just to compress it yourself. MolMan 18:20, October 23, 2013 (UTC)
Testing a bot also requires consensus... You either need to get consensus, do it on another wiki, or stop. MolMan 18:28, October 23, 2013 (UTC)
