Reverting images

Just because images don't have transparency doesn't mean you have to revert it. Just add a Trans tag and wait for people to apply trans. There's a trans tag for a reason. :D Spine^Talk 01:54, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

That may be true, but in some cases I see you revert the image despite the good angle and quality when trans isn't applied-the steel titan for example. So if you think the quality of an image is bad, you are free the revert the image. Spine^Talk 13:07, February 22, 2011 (UTC)

This is a message about your revert on the RuneScape:Players don't deserve articles page, in which your explanation was: "changing a policy with everyone disagreeing with you does not allow you to be bold and do it anyway".

My comment: "1. The first problem is the explanations given. This page says "players, no matter how famous at the time, come and go." Well, Carpentry and many J-mods come and go, but I don't see any policy against them. There are also many items that come and go, but they are listed on this Wikia as well. This phrase contradicts this Runescape Wikia standards, and a better reason needs to be provided, or else those articles need to be removed (which I know isn't happening from reading the comments) .

2. Evil's phrase: "changing a policy with everyone disagreeing with you does not allow you to be bold and do it anyway". No-one disagreed with the removal of the phrase, they just disagreed with allowing players to have their own articles, and offered reasons for why they believed so. And even since I said I'd remove the phrase, no-one argued against it, and it took eight days for Evil to decide to revert it for no good reason. I even said myself: "It's obvious that there is no consensus to change this policy, so I won't argue about that further."

3. This is not policy. It's a very bad reason for why players don't deserve articles because it is discriminatory and does not comply with this Wikia's standards, as noted in point 1. All I'm saying is that another, better reason is added that complies with standards. Anyone is allowed to remove reasoning to a policy if they feel it doesn't conform to standards, and ask for one that does."

Second, we can create a sort of page header template to put on each calc page that will direct them back to the calc main page, as to make inter-calc navigation easier. RE: Swapped images

I had a feeling that I would have to explain myself. There were three images already uploaded that happen to be identical with three that I uploaded. (One of these three already had a duplicate uploaded too). I understand that the file history is important and the four duplicate files have already been cleaned up. The other six images are for other items that deserve their own image per RS:GRAN#Image granularity. This way if a future update makes the items look different, the images can be easily updated with no interference to other articles. Ice sculpture‎

I saw you made an edit at the [[Ice sculpture‎]] page and removed some categories of which I put some in the article, sorry for that :( . I didn't know I was adding the category that much and thought that it wasn't put in correctly, since I didn't see any category at that page. Even now, it shows none of the categories that are added. Do you know if this is a general issue or just a problem at my computer? I'm just asking it because people may start adding the same category over and over again if this is a general issue. Don't be alarmed

Hello, i take it that you're an admin. Well, recently a user with many accounts has been spamming wiki with "certain" images. It happened on another wiki i work on and i thought i should just tell you in advance. When i first saw it i thought i had a virus, but i didn't. It is a user with many accounts and he is from the mass effect wiki. I don't think anything has been done, and i don't think wikia even knows. Skill Icon

Sorry, it is kinda hard to post new thing on this wiki, I do not know who are the higher ups on this wiki. The user RSA2899 noticed it too and reverted some edits because the tempalte made the icons blurry, after fixing that issue I think there is no problem with it, and RFA acknolwedge that too. Now as for the reasons I added it, it is a template we use on the LoL wiki, where we can write {{si|skill name}} ({{si|Agility}})and it looks for a file with a certain name similarity using the parameter, "File:skill name-icon.png" in this case, and it renders the file with a link to the parameter-named page. On the Quests and Skills pages, the result was the need for far less code (-750)(<--in the activity area, idk what it means) and better usability, as we just type the source code above instead of entering the filename and then the page link. Yes, with the difference it also adds the link to the article, and it means you don't need two columns (one for icon, one for link) on the list pages. I was aware that the image linked to the article, but mine does too, so that is not relevant to the issue. And, honestly, it is better that it doesn't allow for misspells, what use would the statistics tab icon serve? If that appears it would be harder to spot the mistake than if a red text appears. It will have more uses, I have just presented it. Will the wiki become so crowded you can't accept this template? there are other similar templates that do slightly different things, but that is needed because every case needs its own tool. Also, I was thinking if I could create a redirect template: Template:Sc, that redirects to Skill clickpick, this will have the purpose of making the source codes on pages that uses this template clearer. The wiki is incredibly desorganized, and I am planning to help organize it, but I need this template to stay. Hello again, sorry I am aware my other wiki is quite small compared to this one so of course it should be more organized, it doesn't mean this wiki can get to be even more organized than the other one. I made a small test on my profile page, I added the skill icon template of Defence and nothing else and I increased the page size by (+15), then I added the skill clicpic template and thelink to defence and that increased the page size by (+39).

Hey, its Ameobea10. My question wasn't really about bots, but actually about hsing PHP or pther coding languages on the wiki without using a bot. I think that they're above my head at the moment. Maybe there is some way for me to write a script that will do something with the hiscores data without using the premade function or doing something more. I looked into some stuff and talked to Cakemix and decided to start on building an extension. I decided to build off the already existing hs parser function and try to make a parser function that only takes two params and directly and automatically generates a table that goes on the Userpage and shows all the highscores automatically instead of having to manually put them in with {{parsehsdata}} or something. So, it will automatically generate the table and return the table instead of one number. Sound good? If you want, I can show you what I have so far, which albiet isn't much. Hey, about your update here, the name must have the date because there are multiple instances of Jagex using the same name in the news post. In this case here, the page itself contains a link attribute in the {{Update}} template to ensure it links to the correct update, but in order to keep the updates unique, the update's page name needs a date as well (in this case, September 2011).
