Grammar[edit source]

Could I get permission to edit your userpage please? There is a grammatical mistake that I would like to correct. (It's the first box, Shortcuts that everyone should have on their page. Everyone is singular; their is plural. It should say Shortcuts that everyone should have on his or her page.) Smile --LiquidTalk 15:00, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Aww, ok then. Their is incorrect. It doesn't matter if a million people jumped off a cliff, it's still a stupid thing to do. Lol --LiquidTalk 20:44, March 28, 2010 (UTC)
Er, question about that: Why do people need to have the speedy deletion category on their userpages? --LiquidTalk 18:06, April 2, 2010 (UTC)

Your Clan Chat Rank[edit source]

Information  Your rank in the clan chat has been removed. Reasons for this may include being inactive for a period of six months or more or having expressed interest in leaving the clan chat as a whole. If you have any secondary accounts that where otherwise ranked, their ranks have been removed as well. You are free to request your rank back at any time by speaking to the channel operator without the need to go through any discussion process. Thank you.

Hilited names[edit source]

I', just copy/pasting what I have said to others in case you didn't see the whole thing. "The question is, why is anyones name hilited? No, I am not suggesting that anyone else remove their names from hilites, I just don't see a need for it for me. Heres the arguments I considered

  • Vandalism - all the admins constantly patrol for vandals and respond in a heartbeat to the CVU, so thats kinda moot IMO.
  • Admin requests - we have a page that any admin seeing a post on it will respond and do what ever we can already, so thats taken care of.
  • Deletions - We have speedy D tag, and if we see it we nail it.
  • Image moves - A: thats rare, B:people needing it know who the admins are and C:we are about to have a tag for them per a YG thread.

So I can't come up with a reason to have my name hilited. If anyone provides a real serious reason, and shows that my name being blue hurts the wiki at all, I will gladly change it back to green."--Degenret01 00:15, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

Consistency seems rather a weak argument as far as colors go. I believe in consistency in blocking treatments, and AGF, and AEAE, but I don't see it with regards to hilited names. If it bothers you, I would suggest using a personal css as a couple other users do. As far as going to the YG, that is a nice idea in theory but reality tells me how it will go. Forum:Crowns_and_AEAE shows darn few people were willing to lose their crown image, so you know they won't want to lose special colors.--Degenret01 00:15, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for any confusion man. And Psycho was talking about a message I left him but I "hid" it in the middle of his talk page. Where it wasn't as hidden as I thought.--Degenret01 00:51, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

P.S. Even if I disagree with it, your always welcome to let me know your opinions. You were one of the leading voices when I was new and things you said and did helped me learn a lot about our wiki. So thanks for that man,--Degenret01 15:45, April 7, 2010 (UTC)

Letter from Uberfuzzy[edit source]

In light of some recent events here I thought it would be of benefit to share out this letter that Uberfuzzy wrote to Azaz129 with all our active sysops, and he has agreed to let me do so. This is not meant as a slap at any one for recent actions, just as some food for thought about us and where we want to be as a wiki.

As you and your wiki has shown in the past, a large stable community can exist and be fairly self

sufficient at Wikia, with little need from staff/helper intervention. This is a dream of ours, to have more wikis run themselves, allowing us to focus our finite amount of time and resources on the sites that actually need it. Sadly, your wiki is an exception in many ways, not the norm.

As with the checkuser, we've shown that we're willing to try things out, to break away from the mentality of "how things were done in the past" to see how they fair in the ever evolving world of wikis, and to get some real world data on how a stable wiki will react if allowed more rights. You've been great test of our theoretical worries about granting checkuser where needed.

Done. You bureaucrats can now add and remove bot rights.

One thing We've always admired about your wiki is even though you have a way above average number of sysops, you have managed to keep the bureaucrat list small, showing that you understand what that roll is meant for, and not just another checkbox. We hope to continue to see good things come out of

runescape, and can continue to use it as a shining example of our dream.-Uberfuzzy

RS:ADMIN[edit source]

  • ... I was just reading the consensus article, too... I knew that. I think it's obvious that the original proposal of removing highlighting is opposed. What is the opinion on my above proposal about trusted editors? Leftiness 20:10, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

I could feel the tempers rising in that discussion, and I have to say I expected a much more heated response after I asked that stupid question. I should have gone and looked up a policy. Thank you for being gentle. Leftiness 22:11, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

Forums[edit source]

Hey, I just wanted to let you know I'm starting the forum topic Forum:AEAE. This is not an attempt to gun down your proposal, its just something that I've been wanting to get at for a while and the recent discussion reminded me. I doubt you'll take this the wrong way (you seem fairly rational Smile), I just wanted to make sure there was no confusion. Cheers- Aburnett(Talk) 20:59, April 9, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry...[edit source]

  • "I'm not sure I'm allowed to edit, since I think I represent my opinions, but I just wanted to say I support this wording..."

What I meant to say with "Don't take Endasil's opinions into this" is that I wanted that part of the discussion to be strictly about a reform to the policy, not about anybody's opinion on the highlight issue... or anything else, for that matter. Leftiness 21:39, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

Copyright issues[edit source]

Endasil, I saw that on the RSOF's Fansite Support Information thread, a criteria for becoming a silver fansite is that "Jagex are acknowledged whenever any copyrighted content/images are used". Does this mean that we are entitled to use copyrighted content, as long as we acknowledge Jagex? I created {{t|FromGame}} and {{t|FromWebsite}} a long time ago and stuck them on the pages with text from in-game books and pages with Lores and Histories on them, respectively. Perhaps the FromGame template could work for dialogue pages? --LiquidTalk 19:39, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Also, the last link (Site statistics) on your userpage doesn't work. I'm kind of curious about what it does. --LiquidTalk 01:17, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

RS:OS[edit source]

Here is an example I came up with in what we could morph RuneScape:Off-site into. It's simplistic and small, and all the individual features' information and discussion can be found on subpages that are all linked to. I also supplied a link to each feature directly, although I couldn't get a proper one for the Ventrilo Server. Thoughts? Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 08:50, May 3, 2010 (UTC)

My signature..[edit source]

..did NOT violate policy 4. The font size is no larger than any signature images and is only a little bigger than your average text. I am definitely not the only one with a signature like this, and I have had it for 6 months without any complaints. Furthermore, if you had a problem with it, the polite thing to do would be to bring it up with me on my talk page where I would be more than happy to discuss this. Instead, you forcefully did it yourself and didn't even bother to notify me. Do not edit my signature. Andrew talk 01:11, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

I will also point out that neither that rule, nor any of the other signature rules, mention text size, only images. Andrew talk 01:22, May 8, 2010 (UTC)
First, I never said you singled me out. Second, my signature is not enormous, and I am offended that you would accuse me of gaming the system for going off of what the guidelines actually say. Third, I never said you didn't have the right..all I wanted was a simple "Hey, I fixed your signature" after you did it. That's all I really need to bother responding to. There is now a discussion on the Yew Grove where we can continue this. Andrew talk 06:11, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

Re:"...we need somewhere for people to bitch about degen"[edit source]

If you know of anyone in specific, feel free to direct them to my talk page with any complaints they may have. I will give all such matters the exact amount of attention that each deserves. That should eliminate another section of the wiki being used for trivial bs whining.--Degenret01 10:56, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

Yea, that's the way I took it, I could have been clear. I just want the whiners to come at me directly so as not to waste wiki time/space.--Degenret01 22:15, May 8, 2010 (UTC)

Sig[edit source]

I actually reverted it because I changed the image's size on photobucket and just didn't clear the undo comment. Also, per RS:SIG there is nothing stating that my signature must contain a searchable text. The closest I see is rule one, but it is referring to the sig being uniquely connected to the user's name. Thank you for your concern, but my signature will remain. Karlis (talk) (contribs) 13:39, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

I don't know what you did, but if it makes everybody happy, then good =). I can no longer see my signature on my phone, as it just appears a little black box, but if it's fine now then meh. Thanks for your assistance. Maybe one day wikia will make things look better on smart phones =\ Karlis (talk) (contribs) 00:48, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

Hey, so I finally got around to taking a SS of my sig on my phone.
Since my sig was "changed" not only do I need to zoom all the way in to see whose signature it is, I now see this little blue bar after my sig. Any way to change this? It's more a mild annoyance than anything else. You can also see my reluctance to change the size of my sig, as it is now smaller than a line of text. Either way, it doesn't much matter, but seeing as how you figured out how to fix it the first time, I thought you might have some insight again. =) Karlis (talk) (contribs) 17:24, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Signatures[edit source]

You really need to take the signature issue up in the Yew Grove. Although I agree with you for the most part, you're fighting a losing battle here. Too many of the offenders are seasoned users who will resist this type of change without a community consensus. --LiquidTalk 23:01, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

Release dates[edit source]

Hi Endasil,

When doing some research for release dates, I came across your name in Tip.It's news archive. As I'm having trouble with some of the dates (I started playing in 2004), I was wondering if you would be willing to help out where you could. This is, of course, just a request, and don't feel obligated to do anything. Thanks, ʞooɔ 02:40, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

I'd just like help if you knew some of the really early release dates (e.g. Hill giant). I'm a bit baffled with some of them, as my main source for early Classic release dates is Tip.It's archive, which doesn't have anything on some of the dates. ʞooɔ 17:04, May 11, 2010 (UTC)
Hey, I haven't seen you around much lately, but do you know when warhammers were released? It doesn't look like they were in Classic.

Thanks, ʞooɔ 21:49, June 2, 2010 (UTC)

Proposed sidebar[edit source]

Hey there. Forum:Cleaning up the sidebar has been open for a while, so I thought it was time we brought it to a close. I've [[User:Chicken7/proposed-sidebar|made a new sidebar]], and have tried to implement aspects from all the suggestions/proposals. What do you think? There'll just be more random discussion that gets nowhere if I propose it, so I'll most likely implement it after I get a few more opinions. Feel free to suggest stuff, and tell me what you think.
