User talk:Chicken7
Welcome to my talk page! Feel free to leave me a message. Holiday messages, requests, rants, inane ramblings and anything else is welcome, as long as it abides by the Wiki policies. Sorry if I don't get back to you; sometimes I forget and/or get lazy. Nudge me if you do need a reply! Cheers, Chicken7 >talk

- Oh yeah, since you've edited some, closed a thread, and shown your face ingame, I do think you can remove that "Shall return in 2011" on your userpage and replace it with some kind of "I am active" notice?

Re:IP Votes in RfAs[edit source]
To be honest, I don't actually recall a rule stating that IPs weren't allowed to vote. Following the reasoning here, it would seem that the consensus is that IPs should be allowed to vote in areas of the Wiki where consensus is used to make decisions. Note that the statement, "Any user with an account is welcome to comment.", states that any user can comment, but does not actually mean that IPs are disallowed from commenting. That's my take on it, anyway.
C.ChiamTalk 08:18, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
- Votes make little difference?
Votes without arguments, maybe... but I'll leave it at that since you stated that Aeriana denies making that comment. We could have an endless debate on the meaning of that statement some other time though. C.ChiamTalk 08:37, February 27, 2011 (UTC)
"Merge Admin requests and user-user help"[edit source]
What's the point of that? People will see a cluttered help page and decide to leave because it's such a mess they can't figure out what they are supposed to be doing. The two pages are for completely different things, anyway.
But the reason I was going to leave this message in the first place was to ask for where you saw that RuneHQ had leaked something. I'd like to add the appropriate citation. Stelercus

"Remember, I'm not talking about the 2 sections on 1 page, but 1 unified requests are where there are things that need admins, and things that do not." I don't hate that idea as much.
"I'll also probably make some simple script that allows you to comment directly (like an input box). Anyway, I'll merge em into a prototype on my userpage another time." We've tried to find/create such a thing, and we couldn't. If some of Quarenon's soul resides within you (allowing you to create a script like that unconditionally), I'd like to hear from you. Really, I'm not being sarcastic.

Re:RfA consensus[edit source]
Hey, can't say I'm surprised by your comments, seeing as I was thinking the same thing when I wrote that comment. Yes, status quo and all that aside, it would seem unfair that I subject the opposition's points to such close scrutiny, yet seemingly take and accept the supporters' arguments as they come. I hadn't noticed this "phenomenon" before I began closing RfAs, so while there is no "accepted" view/explanaton, this is my take on it.
No doubt the status quo is that the candidate remains a regular user without the mop and the broom, and consensus typically requires at least 70% support to pass (although I've seen quite a couple that are far below this unofficial requirement). However, the thing about RfAs in the RuneScape Wiki is this. The current practice could be said to be that we currently sysop users that have been here for a decent amount of time, understand and follow the Wiki's policies, and understand how to and would use the administrative tools well if given them. Supporters can only do so much, and in most RfAs, the reasons for supporting are always along the lines of: active in countervandalism, good judgment, would have much use for the tools/demonstrates a need for the tools, etc (just take a look at our latest RfAs). The reasons are rather generic, but what differs in RfAs however, are the reasons for opposing. As I mentioned above, it is the Wiki's practice to trust those who have fulfilled the requirements I mentioned above, with a few extra tools, but this is where the role of the opposition comes in. The opposition must argue and explicitly prove how the candidate would be unsuitable as an administrator and that it is not in the Wiki's best interests to trust him with the tools. This is why I subject the opposition's points to much scrutiny. It should however, be noted that almost none of the supporters' points were disputed by the opposition (save for the issue about trust), so I took it to mean that it was generally agreed upon that Sentra was an active countervandal, understood the use of the tools, etc (although I could have corroborated the countervandalism aspect if necessary). So the supporters' points tend to be similar in most RfAs, while the opposition's points are the main points of contention. That does not mean that I do not pay attention to the supporters while only focusing on what the opposers have to say though. I still take note of the number of supporters and other things, since it is a relevant gauge as to how much of the community's trust the candidate has.
And regarding the maturity issue, I do lack the interaction with him to see how mature it is, and I don't really have the time to talk with him in IRC and CC over a period of time. Although it may not seem so in the explanation I left on Andorin's talkpage, maturity was the issue I gave the most weight to, because even though there wasn't any evidence supporting it and seemed to be based on gut feeling more than anything else, it was still a concern shared amongst several opposers, so I did give it quite a bit of consideration.
It would seem from this whole matter, that the number of people who are against the closure is greater than the number of opposers in Sentra's RfA, which is somewhat surprising, especially when I've been told that there were multiple issues that were not brought up in Sentra's RfA, such as that he was more focused on getting adminship as a trophy than to help the Wiki (although I do not know the validity of this statement), and I'm wondering why this is the case when RfAs are the time when they should be bringing up these issues otherwise the wrong individuals will be sysopped. Perhaps some think that a few vocal dissenters would be enough to prevent a consensus? Probably not though, I'm simply speculating here. Anyway, hope this response satisfies your questions, cheers! I'm really hoping you've been hacked. That's not something I want to see. Edit: Oops, fogot to sign Edmyg 21:22, November 7, 2011 (UTC)
So, this account is definitely compromised. Chicken is an aussie, I imagine that he could find a better time to vandalize than the middle of the night. He also has access to twitter/facebook, and neither of those have been touched. ajr 23:12, November 7, 2011 (UTC)
- I thank you all for the kind messages and awards. I would also like to seriously confirm that my account was hacked, and it was not I, the Australian Chicken7, that went on this rampage. I think the mystery of who it was has already been solved. Cheers, Chicken7 >talk 11:56, November 9, 2011 (UTC)

Cotweet[edit source]
Hi, as you may know standard CoTweet is being removed, so the wiki's twitter account will no longer be able to function using it. My suggestion is to use Tweetdeck from now on. While cotags can't be automatically added, they should still be used whenever posting on the account. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. Thanks. Sentra246

... those were the days. It seems that despite my earnest promises at the time, that life would never get interesting enough to stop me staying up all night playing RuneScape, life did get interesting..and RuneScape just got bloody confusing - not sure if I can get back into it
. Also, where ze heck did all these new people come from.. I hardly recognise a name on the recent UotM list. It seems that Woj also went Awol as well, not sure whether the wiki benefited from mine and his vanishing or not, lol. So much has changed
