2015 Christmas event/Transcript[edit source]

Can you not make such useless pages? MolMan 18:30, December 22, 2015 (UTC)

I'm working on it. Cache117 (talk) 18:42, December 22, 2015 (UTC)

Then at least provide some content to start with instead of "This needs to be done". It's not helpful. There's no reason you couldn't have made the page after transcribing at least some dialogue. MolMan 18:44, December 22, 2015 (UTC)
That's a valid point. However, you should still assume good faith. Cache117 (talk) 19:19, December 22, 2015 (UTC)

Transcripts[edit source]

Ignoring my initial frustrations, you've been doing good work with transcripts. Keep it up. MolMan 15:44, December 30, 2015 (UTC)

Thanks. Cache117 (talk) 15:47, December 30, 2015 (UTC)

CVU Report[edit source]

Thanks for the report! :) svco4bY.png3Gf5N2F.png 05:08, January 1, 2016 (UTC)

Sure thing. Just doing my part. Cache117 (talk) 05:10, January 1, 2016 (UTC)

Dialogue template[edit source]

Would you find it useful if the syntax for Quest NPC was changed from a user made list to just a bunch of params?

MolMan 16:24, January 21, 2016 (UTC)

It would certainly save me having to type the extra characters. I'm for it. How many parameters could it allow? Cache117 (talk) 16:42, January 21, 2016 (UTC)

Infinite. MolMan 16:42, January 21, 2016 (UTC)
Perfect. I assume there will be some sort of script that converts all of the existing ones? Cache117 (talk) 16:45, January 21, 2016 (UTC)
I'll go convert the existing ones myself. After that I'll update the template itself to the new syntax. MolMan 17:11, January 21, 2016 (UTC)

A tip for templates[edit source]

You can use Default disassemble instead of . Just a minor time saver. :P --Jlun2 19:18, February 5, 2016 (UTC)

Certainly. I usually do, but sometimes the editor prepends Template: onto it. Cache117 22:00, February 5, 2016 (UTC)

Re: Nomad's Elegy[edit source]

That was temporary! It's fixed now. Thanks! JivaSoul (talk) 00:36, February 17, 2016 (UTC)

Typo[edit source]

British spellings aren't typos. On this wiki American ones are. Small recharge gem.png AnselaJonla Slayer-icon.png 19:54, March 30, 2016 (UTC)

Oh, I apologise, I didn't know that the British spelling had two l's. Cache117 (talk) 19:56, March 30, 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation pages[edit source]

Hi Cache117, please don't add navboxes to disambiguation pages. Disambiguation pages are purely to show a list of all pages that the phrase could refer to and should only have links to those pages and nothing else as explained here. So unless you're planning on reworking the engram page to a fully fledged page then don't add navboxes and/or links to unrelated stuff to a disambiguation page. Thank you! :) Farming-icon.png Salix (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 20:24, September 20, 2018 (UTC)

I didn't realize that. Thanks for pointing it out. I am unclear on one thing though. Why shouldn't I put Memorial to Guthix as a link? Engrams are directly related to Memorial of Guthix, and it has a lot of information about them in it. --Cache117 (talk) 22:28, September 20, 2018 (UTC)

While MtG is directly related to the engrams listed currently, doesn't mean it should be linked on the disambiguation page, as that page should only link the pages that the page lists. Disambiguation pages are there to navigate readers to the subject they're looking for. One could argue that someone could be looking for MtG when typing in engrams, but MtG is not the goal of this disambiguation page, the individual engrams are. Also the styleguide explicitly states that the introductory line should just be Subject may refer to:. Farming-icon.png Salix (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 22:50, September 20, 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the clarification. Cache117 (talk) 23:07, September 20, 2018 (UTC)

Wikia forking thread[edit source]

Hey Cache117! I wanted to give you a heads up that there's a thread (Forum:Leaving Wikia) up for discussion right now about moving this wiki (and OSRS wiki) away from Wikia, to a self-hosted, Jagex-supported site. We'd love your input on the proposal (and the new wikis). Thanks! Magic logs detail.pngIsobelTalk page 18:34, September 30, 2018 (UTC)

Wikian title[edit source]

Hi there :) Would you like to be nominated for the Wikian title? Magic logs detail.pngIsobelTalk page 14:51, 8 October 2018 (UTC)

I certainly wouldn't mind it! ;-) Cache117 (talk) 15:25, 8 October 2018 (UTC)

Wikian title granted[edit source]

Hi Cache117, your request for the Wikian title was successful. Please contact Gaz Lloyd on his talk page, in the wiki Discord channel, or in-game (RSN: Gaz_Lloyd) so that he may give you the title. Sincerely, Talk to Kelsey 09:55, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

Event mystery box (Slime is of the Essence)[edit source]

Hello! Unlike previous events, Slime is of the Essence did not introduce a new event mystery box (you can check the most recent items added into the game with this handy tool). Instead, the event reused the ones from the previous event, Rune Capers. As there isn't a new mystery box, I've deleted the page. For clarification, I've added a few lines in the Rune Capers mystery box article mentioning that it can be obtained from the Slime event - Cuxrie (talk) 19:40, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

Ah. My bad. I thought it was a mistake. Thanks for correcting that. There were a couple of other pages that linked to the now-deleted page, did you edit those as well? Cache117 (talk) 20:20, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

Not a problem 😃. I have changed the links, if pages still appear to link to it then it might just be the cache - Cuxrie (talk) 20:24, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
Should the Slime is of the Essence Template not include a link to the Rune Capers event mystery box then under the rewards? Cache117 (talk) 20:56, 27 November 2018 (UTC)
In the navbox? I would say no as it was not specifically tied to the event. Normally items are linked in a navbox if they are new and are released specifically for that event or activity. For example the player-owned farm navbox does not include chocolaty milk, cow hides, mort myre fungus, etc. as they had already existed before POF and can be obtained through other means. - Cuxrie (talk) 21:26, 27 November 2018 (UTC)

Before Lumbridge Rebuildathon[edit source]

How did you confirm that the player does not say that line, just wondering? Fishing cape.png Kate the HuntressQuest.png 16:42, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

In the dialogue, with every option for this NPC (including the What's happening in Lumbridge? option), the player doesn't "speak" any of the options. Harlan always replies directly to the option, without the player speaking in between. Does that make sense? Cache117 (talk) 16:46, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

Vote in the Weird Gloop elections![edit source]

Hi Cache117!

Because of your involvement with the wiki, you are eligible to vote on the candidates for the board of Weird Gloop, the company that hosts the RuneScape and Old School RuneScape wikis.

See meta:Weird Gloop elections/2019/Candidates for candidate presentations, and meta:Weird Gloop elections for how to vote – it'll take maybe 5 minutes.

There are 4 candidates for RuneScape, 4 candidates for OSRS, and 1 candidate for pt-RuneScape. If you'd like to influence who represents the voices of these communities inside the company, I strongly encourage you to vote! You are one of only 204 people that meet the requirements, and this is a chance to help shape the future of the wikis.

Thanks! ʞooɔ 01:07, 23 December 2019 (UTC)

RE: Warforge invitation[edit source]

When I copied over the invitation I was basing it off an image someone had uploaded previously, which didn't include the P.S text at the bottom. It's possible that the text is only there for some players depending on their quest progression. pjJ4pBM.png Abyssal vine whip.png 17:27, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Mystery dialogue for site managers[edit source]

I see you moved at least Dr Nabanik's dialogue to mystery pages. I agree that this is the correct location for them and the references are good, but my problem now is that the mystery transcripts don't respect the flow of dialogue. It claims that talking to Dr Nabanik goes straight to the mystery dialogue which is not the case. How should this be solved? Copying the whole dialogue trees with all the branches etc. would be kinda messy. For this reason I would do the linking the other way: mystery pages should link to the site managers' dialogue which always contains the full dialogue tree. Thingummywut (talk) 23:21, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

I don't have too strong opinions on how it should be clarified. My criticism was just that we shouldn't be lying about the dialogue trees on the mystery pages. Adding that clarification to the titles would be fine by me. Thingummywut (talk) 18:46, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

player-owned things[edit source]

As per this forum thread, we do not capitalize the words in "player-owned farm" (etc.). Please keep this in mind while creating pages/redirects. Additionally, disambiguations should only be used when 3+ subjects may be confused. I'm not sure which you prefer for Trait, but one of the pages could be moved over that redirect perhaps.

Transcripts[edit source]

Hey, why stuff like this? Having dialogue split as it is in game is far superior way of transcribing things, and this is also permitted by the style guide (I don't even know why we allow combining lines like that; it makes no sense to me). Dialogue option headings appear in bolded caps in-game too, and changing to non-bolded lowercase sometimes causes some transcription issues. I have also suggested that NPC names would be transcribed exactly like they appear in-game, similarly to choice headings, but that didn't gain traction. Thingummywut (talk) 19:13, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

'Excavation hotspots' count[edit source]

Sup dawg, Just figured out there was a misscount of Experiment workbench locations (5 -> 4) and I updated the respective article. Basically someone included scenery of the same name in this count. Its still pulling from some database for Template:Excavation hotspots table for articles like this one and I have no clue where to correct that value. Could you or someone reading this message correct this or show me where to? --Undefined (talk) 12:47, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

Tact ends[edit source]

Hey, I've noticed that you quite commonly add Tact|end when a dialogue tree ends in transcripts. I'm not sure if it's explicitly prohibited by RuneScape:Style guide/Transcripts#End of dialogue, but at least to me it feels implied that unless there is no dialogue at all in the branch, this should not be used. It's not a big thing, but removing all those redundant ends just gets boring after a while. Thingummywut (talk) 03:16, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

"Always" drops from "Possibility" sources[edit source]

Recently I noticed an issue with the transcluded data from Triskelion Treasures and Raptor's chest of slaying drop tables. Items listed on these article can appear as an "Always" drop on other articles. This incorrectly implies that that every roll guarantees these items. Is there perhaps a way to label all these items as "varies" when located on pages other than Triskelion/Raptors Chest respectively? (Contacting you first since I noticed your expertise in the drop tables) Undefined (talk) 08:32, 30 August 2021 (UTC)
