Problem with User stats template[edit source]

Ah, welcome to the Wiki. When you PMed me earlier about the template, I had just read Clv's page in which she mentioned the same problem at roughly the same time. I thought the Amaurice in-game corresponded with the Clv309 in-Wiki, but now I see you two are two completely different people. Quite embarrasing of me to confuse you! But thank you for alerting me as well. Enjoy your time here, and if you ever have any more questions, other editors and I are always available to answer: either in-game, on our talk pages, or the local forums. Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 21:22, 8 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for fixing the template. I've now looked at how the templates work, so next time I might be able to fix it myself. Amaurice talk 12:28, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

My House[edit source]

I've moved the page to User:Amaurice/My House as this belongs in user space not main wiki. Cheers --Eucarya Talk 16:16, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Oops my mistake. Thanks for spotting it. I did mean to put it under User:Amaurice/My House. Amaurice talk 10:39, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
I was surprised to read that you don't have a Costume Room. I love my costume room as it provides extra Banking space for clothing I have collected on my Treasure Trails. I have maybe 75 to 80% of the Level 1 items in my Treasure Chest and then will move on to Level 2's. (I bought a mahogany Costume Room set from someone for 50K, he later died from a random event outside his house and dropped more than that.) Abyssal whip.pngSeedy65Dragon hatchet.png 02:45, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
I don't have a Costume Room because I got to 90 Construction and built my house before Runescape had the Costume Room. Because of the 20 room limit, I could not add the Costume Room so decided I'm going to wait until I next work on Construction (later this year) before changing my house. I definitely want to build the Costume Room as it will free up bank space. Amaurice talk 08:34, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
Just spend some coins on the workshop and replace a bedroom or some other silly room. Bank space is at a premiium in my book. And it can hold a surprising number of items. --Miw 13:09, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately, two bedrooms are needed to have a servant which I use during construction training. Once I get 99 construction I might loose one of the bedrooms (and the servant). However, the rebuild will also give me an extra portal chamber too anyway. Amaurice talk 13:34, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
Just discovered your wicked house template. Still busy mapping my house with it. Would it be possible to add an image as background or as a replacement for the text in the house template? --Miw 12:19, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
You can give an image for the center just by using text= (yes, I know I call it text but it's not limited to text).
As for setting the background image, I can't seem to get the wiki to keep my style="background: url('http://....')" to allow the background image to be specified. Maybe it's something I'm doing wrong. Your welcome to have a go.
If you look at it, you will find that the Template:House room calls Template:House roomshape for doing the shape itself. The house shape is made up of a table with three rows, and a total of 5 cells. Four of these cells contains images, as follows:
House hwall.png
House vwall.png Room Text House vdoor.png
House h2door.png
Let me know if you manage to get background images working... Amaurice talk 13:19, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
Had a go at this after your comment. The wiki engine prevents you from adding a background image. You need a pretty long work around to get that working. Need some tricky style sheets and named div's to a page to get background images for a table. Too much work for only a small improvement. --Miw 15:23, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Making Arrows[edit source]

How many Arrows did you make to get to Level 99 Fletching ? I have calculated I can make another 72 K in Yew Longbows to get to Level 99 and I only need to cut another 62K yews to get to level 99 woodcut. You have some impressive Stats. How do you get Herblore levels up ? I am struggling to Level 52 now.Abyssal whip.pngSeedy65Dragon hatchet.png 02:45, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

I didn't count them exactly, but I probably made about 900k Arrows getting from 80 to 99 Fletching. Given that they make 15 per click, this is like making about 60k Bows without the banking bit. As for Woodcutting, I decided that Yews are too slow, so I'm planning on doing Woodcutting and Firemaking together on Maples (no banking needed).
I got my Herblore up with Farming as one of my ways of making money. I initially grew Ranarrs and made Prayer potions, which I sold for profit. I later made Super strong weapon poisons, which I sold or used to make ddp++ that I sold. Amaurice talk 08:34, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Your signature[edit source]

I'm noticing problems with your sig. If you look at the title of a page you've posed your sig on, you'll see "talk" and "house" at the top. I think you're missing a tag to end your sig or something. Think you can fix it?--Richard (Talk - Contribs) 17:20, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

There wasn't any missing tags, but it's possible that you were using a browser that did not handle the absolute and relative positioning the same way. I tried with IE 7 and Firefox 2, maybe you were using a different browser (or an older version). For now, I've removed the use of the relative and absolute positioning, but if you can say what browser you are using that is behaving differently, then I might be able to find a solution that does what I want with it too. Thanks. Amaurice talk 21:48, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

You're ambitious[edit source]

Wow, you're attempting all these skills in 2 years. :O. --Whiplash 11:24, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
Having done some easier ones, like fletching and crafting, I thought I'd have a go at the harder ones. I've worked out how I'll do them, and how many hours it's going to take. The question is how to avoid boredom. By working on 2 or 3 at the time I should get less bored. I can't see how to do power mining without getting extremely bored (and I'm not going to use autos) so I'm only aiming for 85 in that (as with hunter). My aim is to get a lot of the non-combat skills up before working on combat ones again (particularly slayer). Amaurice talk 16:07, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Userpage[edit source]

You have a very well designed userpage. It is very aesthetically balanced. Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 16:31, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. I do love the templates and userboxes. They make it so much easier creating the user pages. Amaurice talk 16:45, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for your work on the templates[edit source]

Thanks for the impressive work that you've done on the Goal template. It certainly is a lot easier to understand what is happening. I like the use of them on your user page. The earlier versions of it had some images from another site, which started me on designing a wiki version of it. Thanks for the great help. --Miw 13:23, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Two Combat Bracelet Pages[edit source]

The new combat bracelet has two pages, seperate from eachother about the same thing, There's the one i started Combat Bracelet and annother Bracelet of combat. --Sir Raymund

I based the name of mine on the list produced by Eucarya in the forum topic Forum:Jewellery update, what needs to be done|Jewellery update, what needs to be done. However, this is some good stuff in Combat Bracelet, so I'll merge the changes into Bracelet of combat (which is the one all the other pages link to) and set a redirect of Combat Bracelet to Bracelet of combat. Thanks for spotting this. Amaurice talk 09:04, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

do you think you can help me make a userbox that has a crystal bow at the beginning of my name? and/or an ancient staff at the end?$cash dog c 20:02, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

I can help. Is it a userbox on your user page you want, or a signature you want (when you sign stuff)? Amaurice talk 20:06, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

signature plz.$cash dog c 15:33, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Okay, I've made you a signature to get you started. You can edit by going to Template:Signatures/$cash dog c. To use it, you need to edit your "my preferences" (at the top right of the screen) and make the following changes:
  • Change the value of Nickname: to
  • Tick the checkbox for Raw signatures (underneath the Nickname: field)
  • Click on the Save button at the bottom to save the changes
You should now be able to sign your posts just by typing ~~~~. Amaurice talk 16:06, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

Something's Fishy here[edit source]

Out of curiosity, what's with the "Don't eat fish given by anyone" in the Warnings part of your House Party advert sample? That just a joke? (Sorry, if only I could read a page and see the person's expression or hear their tone when they say something) :o) By the way, I like the way your house looks, I'll probably end up modeling mine somewhere along those same lines, assuming I ever get the money to pay for it. How do you pay for all of your construction bills? What do you do to earn your money? Magic TIRRIANGANT (TALK) 18:21, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

There is a scam that involves giving people poisonous karambwan fish. Hence the warning. As for making the money for constuction, I made some farming ranaars, making prayer pots and selling (probably made about 100m over time). Later I made money buying arrow heads from shop, making arrows and selling arrows (made about 50m doing this). Now I make money doing runecrafting. Amaurice talk 22:32, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Images[edit source]

I was aware of the %-image problem, since I was looking at Quests and wondering why none of the images were showing up, but I wasn't aware of the '-image problem, nor how either related to SQL. As for the bug reporting, I would take it to the Wikia IRC channel. I'm nor sure how to connect to it, so check around the Central Wikia (here). Thanks for letting me know about that. :) Oddlyoko talk 16:06, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Stat Calculator[edit source]

Got a favor to ask you. Do you think you could figure out a basic code that could be used to make a Stat Calculator for the Wiki? I don't understand the programming language very well, just some basics, but I can figure out things quickly enough, so with a little help I could probably do most of the work. I figure if you can give me the basic code, ie, calculate like this-->, then I could fill in each of the individual things done with that skill. For example, I could enter each of the things possible to be made in crafting, from pots and up, along with the xp gained for each 1 item made. I just don't know how to display it or anything. I also figured it could be done in a similar way to the Combat level template, just put all the code on one page somewhere, and then make a public page that could be used. Let me know what you think. Magic TIRRIANGANT (TALK) 16:17, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

I was thinking more along the lines of something like the combat level template. So the template is made, and then we use the simpler form and enter values on the form rather than the actual template. A user could then enter their current xp or level themselves (by editing the page), and their desired xp (or level) and the template would calculate the necessary info and display what needs to be done in order to achieve their goal. This way thay could put it on their User page, or they could use the preview option on the main version of the page. Magic TIRRIANGANT (TALK) 18:39, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Erm, mind if I ask you something?[edit source]

Mind telling me how you got your Crafting to 99? A friend of mine has a way that costs about .8 coins per exp., and he's refusing to tell me. I was wondering if you used it. --Themurasame Hiscores 07:25, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

Wanted Pages[edit source]

Amaurice, either your psychic or you've seen my post here. I'm honestly not sure which. =] I could understand how they appeared there because the links were previously used in sigs, but I hadn't thought that simply resaving the page would update it. Thanks for doing that (jeez, 49 pages. I didn't think anyone else would be willing to do so much). I really appreciate the help, and I'll go change those pages now. ChristineTalk 14:27, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Right. Actually, you going into Wanted Categories is what made me start with Wanted Pages. Totally forgot >_> Anyways, those pages have been updated, but now we're left with text saying No pages link to Forum:I got meself a series on YouTube!. Now, I KNOW (from trying to remove links to non-existant signatures) that these pages WILL NOT be removed when the list is purged around midnight UTC. So I have no idea how to remove it from wanted pages. Unless it is actually created then it won't be removed from the list. ChristineTalk 14:50, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Lol, no worries about the template. I think Syugecin (who technically created it with some help) and I were the only ones who actually even knew about it =] ChristineTalk 14:55, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes, one would think that, it makes sense (but wiki doesn't make sense =p). If the pages were truely removed from wanted pages then they would have been strikethroughed until the scan tonight where they would be completely removed from the list. There are some pages there that I removed the link from a few days ago that are still there. ChristineTalk 15:11, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Exactly, and yet if the pages aren't created (and recreating then deleting them does not work either) then they aren't removed from the list. Its an issue. I'd really like to know what wrong, considering purging doesn't work. I thought that was the whole point. But I don't really know what to do about it. ChristineTalk 15:20, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

RE:User shops[edit source]

I think that it would be good idea, as long as it is used only for permanant sellers. Mainly of one kind of item, not just as a general store type of thing. This would definately be better since the market forum has been deleted. Oh, and what do you think of the IP adding to all the pages using onyx jewellery? That means that ALL jewellery pages need to add the particular gem cat to their pages. I think its unnecessary. I don't want to go and remove it without someone else's opinion though... ChristineTalk 15:44, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

Materials that aren't metal. Lol, that will be a HUGE category then. I can see what you're saying now (and at the time I didn't know they were adding the cat to the bolts also). I think I'll go add cats for all the gems now. As for a shop header, I really like that idea. ChristineTalk 16:41, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

A couple leveling questions[edit source]

I'm impressed with your levels and how well-rounded you are. I like leveling many different skills, so I'll probably keep asking you for tips, but two skills: First, what did you do to level your crafting all the way? I'm planning on mining 5,500 gold and smithing them (with guantlets) to get my smithing up (good idea?), should I use that gold to level my crafting? What other ideas are out there? Right now I'm at 58 Crafting, hoping for 85ish someday. The other skill I was wondering about, how should I level my farming best? I'm only at 39, and for now I just want to get it to level 50, but to train it that far and farther, what should I do? Any advice would be appreciated. Sorry about that, I only edited the page to try to get rid of some of the wanted pages entry. Your talk page has a links to Sir Robin's signature that does not exist, so I changed it to point to his user page (that does exist), and the RuneScape:Requests for adminship/USER link does not exist. Re:Methods[edit source]

Hi, thanks for your input.

  • As for firemaking, I already have 99 woodcutting, so I think I would rather just buy the maples or yews.
  • And yes, I've read that Dorgesh-kaan was faster, but hardly, so it's another option.
  • As for thieiving, it's generally accepted that Pyramid Plunder is the fastest method.
  • As for mining/smithing, well... I'm really strapped for cash, so I decided to mine gold and then smith it with gauntlets.
    • Your method is more efficient without a doubt, but I can't afford to buy steel bars and stuff.--Mura 20:40, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

Already started on your first 1-2k with Syugecin. Not sure how much he was able to get yesterday, but I was able to hoard about 360 or so, which isn't bad considering my lousy connection, but I'd guess that as of Thursday night we have about 500+ or so between us. Not sure when I'm going to be on either, my times are pretty sporadic, although I'm usually on at least once about every day. I'll just keep gathering and when I see you on I'll pm you. I certainly can't be on during my daytime from Mon-Fri, I work, which is why I'm on here instead of playing the game. :o) Can't play at work, but my computer lets me get on the wiki pages. My time zone, technically, is US Mountain time, but I'm in Arizona, which changes things slightly, we don't do the Daylight Savings at all, so I'm about an hour earlier than Mountain time currently. This means you're about 6-7 hours earlier than myself, but I figure if I'm online sometime Saturday morning (my morning, your evening), I should be able to see you, although I'm not sure how much I'll have by then. Out of curiosity, what part of England are you in? I lived in England for about 6 years when I was younger, and I'll be moving there again around March next year. Oh.... wow. I really need to do that. By the way, I still care about fletching experience, I want all my skills ranked below 1k, at some point. --Themurasame Hiscores 16:54, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, I tried took an agility-break and did some fletching. While it is does seem very profitable, the biggest problem I had was actually selling the arrows, especially the adamant ones. What method did you use to sell them? --Themurasame Hiscores 08:13, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

RuneScape:POW[edit source]

As most of us know, or are going to find out, the new Project of the Week page has been created and the topic this week is Stubs! (Please see RuneScape:POW) As we know, there are over 700 Stubs! Some of these pages are the :Category:Slang|Slang pages. I have, as you and some others may have noticed, fixed some of these over time but I think a few of the community members should gather on the Slang Stubs. Please respond on my talk page if you are interested. Other users may also be willing to help. Please note that this is a team effort and not a hardcore attempt to get your editcount up.Yellow partyhat.png Ilyas Talk Contribs 22:51, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Fungi[edit source]

I'll keep gathering a bunch for you. I had to leave for a bit to build some furniture for my wife, but I collected another 600+. I'll just keep gathering throughout the week and see you on again next saturday hopefully. Let me know. Hopefully I'll have a fair amount for you this time. :o) I won't do it every second I'm on though (a bit boring, I start falling asleep after a while :o/ ). So I'll probably do a quest or two, and some farming, but otherwise, I'll just keep collecting fungi for ya. Magic TIRRIANGANT (TALK) 14:25, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: As a fellow House Enthusiast[edit source]

You're welcome to visit my house when you get P2P back again. I might have house parties towards the end of the year again (while I work on my prayer at my alter).

As for the 20 room limit, I had to rearrange my house, loosing the top floor (so I did not have so many stairs rooms) and part of my dungeon because I wanted a second portal chamber and a costume room. Now they they have increased the limit, I might add a bit more to my dungeon again, but not until I'm working on construction again (probably in about 12 months time). Amaurice talk 14:59, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

Glad to hear, though I'd most likely be too busy with real life things to continue with P2P for the end of the year. Oh well, there's still plenty of time once things settle down.
I also suffered from the 20 room limit, but I manage to solve a way to get an actual house-like appearance and still kept both Teleport Chambers and the 2nd floor (still currently 8 rooms in my 2nd floor when I left it lol). The only sacrifice made was that I have a pitifully small dungeon, which is alright since I designed it where it'll make a very interesting place to fight (gateless Fire Pit FTW).
With the 10+ potential Rooms increase, my dungeon won't look like a basement anymore I hope. Not as large as yours with my priorities to the upper floors, but sufficient.
Either way, good luck with your plans on that. I'll be sure to decorate the Wikia with stuff involving that also.

Re: Animated images[edit source]

What tool do you use to capture the animated images in GIF format from Runescape? For example, if I wanted to capture an animation of the crafting skill cape. If necessary, I can edit using a combination of Microsoft GIF Animator (to access the frames) and Paint.Net for the actual editing. The problem is the capture. Any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks. Amaurice talk 16:48, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

I use Camtasia (full name Camtasia Studio 3) to work with the process of creating the images.
I first use Camtasia Recorder to capture videos live in-game, which is saved into either the .CAMREC format or .AVI format (the one I picked).
I then use Camtasia Studio in the same package to crop the video to a certain length and use it to save as a .GIF file.
If you want to get the capture, just use the Camtasia Recorder portion of Camtasia Studio 3. Just know that you cannot capture it straight to the .GIF format, as it has to go through Camtasia Studio first before you enter it into Microsoft GIF Animator.

Re: Any Rules on naming of Signature Templates[edit source]

The Signatures page says about putting signatures under Template:Signatures/name, and this is good because in the full template list all the signatures are together. However I've noticed that people are starting to put signatures under other template names, in particular Template:Blankosig and Template:Cashsig. Is this against the rules? My concern is that if everyone starts doing it, then it will make finding other templates in the list harder. Amaurice talk 08:24, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, Template:Signatures/x is reserved for signatures. The template namespace is not to be polluted with various users' signatures. I will redirect and delete these two, but if you find another, you are free to move it to Template:Signatures/x. Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 18:46, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Concerning Marble/Magic Cape Rack[edit source]

I hadn't actually noticed that. Thanks for spotting that. I might still build the magic one when I can, just to see what it looks like.

Also having seen the image of the greater magic cage that you uploaded, I might replace my lesser one sometime. Although I won't replace it until after I get 99 prayer (probably about the end of this year). The reason is that when I do prayer I use my alter, and tend to allow others in the house too (so the house says loaded in the servers memory, so faster to teleport back to house). Sometimes people try to get into the house during the brief times I've teleported to Edgeville to restock on dragon bones, but this does not occur too often. If I had the greater magic cage, then too many people will be kicked out the house and want to get in (because of the option of kicking out the house).

Btw, do you know if the fairy in the games room treasure hunt game will hide in the dungeon rooms too? It would be interesting to see what it's like trying to find the fairy in a busy dungeon! I'm thinking of adding 4 more dungeon rooms, which still should leave me with 3 more spare rooms for future room types (if I get to 99 construction). Amaurice talk 10:00, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Trust me, having guests getting booted from the house via Greater Magic Cage is the least of your worries. You have yet to experience the horrors of Lever Huggers who do nothing but find amusement in TELEPORTING people around the world for hours, trimming the visitor count to a fraction. The "Expel" Option is actually least used on my Greater Cage in my parties.
I'm just thankful that Jagex FINALLY fixed it where it teleported people just for standing next to it (even without standing IN it). It is your decision whether to make the Greater Magic Cage or not, but I HIGHLY recommend against it until Jagex introduces Lever Control. As for me, the only good thing that thing did was allow me to grab an animation of it.
As for that Fairy Game, I really haven't experienced much with it (the only reason why I got it was because the Hangman game has been overdone and it SPAMs the chat). I'm not sure if it works in the dungeon, but I think I recall someone getting it in my Dungeon Stairs Room before (with the game being on the 2nd floor). Don't count my word on that one. I know for sure that second floor Fairy Hunt Game can bring you to first floor, and I think it is possible to get in the second floor also. Good luck in your plans at that either way. Just know the best motivation to get people to play that game in a crowded dungeon is the 50K in your Gilded Mahogany Chest they constantly beg you to start a game for :p.
Bowman hat.pngTarikochi 10:19, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
The Level Huggers that teleport people around they world, are they using a feature of the greater magic cage (does not mention about teleporting elsewhere) or are they just doing things like teleport group or teleport other?
As for the games rooms, I'm thinking of having ones with treasure hunter and one for hangman. I used to have hangman before (when I had a second floor), and I also tried the treasure hunter game too (but I did not have a dungeon then). I'm thinking of just having the games and not the reward chests because when I had parties, I kept having people PM'ing me asking me to set up the games. So the games will purely be for fun. Amaurice talk 10:50, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Despite what the Knowledge Base says, teleporting people is a feature that's included in the Greater Cage, which was used by the Lever Huggers. The Greater Cage can teleport whoever that is in (used to be in and next to) the cage to a location that you have a Teleportal in your Portal Chamber to. I have six different Teleportals, so the Lever Huggers have six different Teleport destinations, heavily favoring either Yanille or Canifis.
And it would be nice for people to play for fun for once. Instead of trying to find profit in someone else's house.
Bowman hat.pngTarikochi 11:00, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Ah, now I understand the problem. I have 6 portals in my house too, so would also have the same problem. I think I'll give the greater magic cage a miss then. Thanks for the advice. Amaurice talk 11:09, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Re:House room2 template[edit source]

If you can eliminate dependency to those two layers of other templates, that would be great. It would make the template a lot easier to understand. As you can probably tell from the history, I'm not exactly the best at making complex templates :P. I originally had the /param and /param2 subpages together, but I accidentally added one too many braces to the main template, causing the whole thing to break, and so I separated them thinking that might be the problem, not noticing until later what it really was.

As for the name change, I wouldn't mind it at all; the current name is awkward and "POH room" is a bit shorter. In any event, the old names can be redirected to the new one so that calling any of them would call the template at the new name instead. Or at least that's how it works on Wikipedia, haven't tried it here. Skill 10:30, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Re: Prayer[edit source]

I think I know what you're saying, for inviting others into the house. I've always worked efficiently alone, and I have difficuly working with others because other people tend to be very unreliable. :S

I might as well ask you a question regarding the basement portion of the house, while I'm at it. I noticed that you made stairs in your quest hall go down to the skill hall in the dungeon floor. Are stairs the only way to make a dungeon, similar to how stairs are required to make a first story? Suppose I have a Dungeon entrance in my Formal garden, is there any way to make a dungeon using that? The article for the dungeon entrance states that an entrance can only be made when there are stairs below the dungeon already; that seems like a paradox to me. Sorry for all the questions, I'm a huge newb when it comes to Construction.--Themurasame Hiscores 14:37, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. :) So basically (to my interpretation) I can make the entrance in my formal garden, then use the entrance to make a room underneath it with stairs, like another skill hall? Similarily, can I make an oubliette from above using my throne room? --Themurasame Hiscores 15:23, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the tips, I'll just use the general store method and avoid the abyss entirely. I don't like PKing or PKers, and I prefer to keep my combat level low for a while (no more than 85 for the quest cape...when I get to that point), for different reasons. Assuming I get my Runecrafting up to making multiple natures, I may use runners, but until that point, I'll just take my time. At least runecrafting is easy, it's just mind-numbing, and a bit annoying with all that traveling. Thanks for the advice. Magic TIRRIANGANT (TALK) 20:17, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm working on a new user page for myself, and I'm having trouble getting it to load right (probably too many templates or something). It's in my sandbox, here if you wouldn't mind taking a look at it and either letting me know what I need to do to fix it, or making some changes yourself, I would really appreciate it. If I have to I can narrow the list of skill goals, as in the past, that has given me problems. Thanks for the help with that, it looks better now :o) I still have some work to do with it. One question though. Originally, I had put an Introduction to the page as well, but unfortunately, the Contents were displayed with the everything else, and made it look pretty messy. Do you happen to know how I could put an Intro, in a box of sorts, but not have the Contents list included with it? Templates Again[edit source]

The herblore page is in need of an update: new images needed for grimy and cleaned herbs. Drafting the page would benefit from a template similar to the RuneReq template. So instead of inserting the raw wiki constructors it would be useful to generate them from a simpler version. So something along the lines of

. This would produce a sequence of images to show a grimy guam -> cleaned guam + wf vial -> unfinished attack potion + eye of newt -> attack potion. I'm not sure how to add the experience. Perhaps the superscript thingy from RuneReq works. The experience would take the place of the -> delimiter above. The images should link to some place relevant. Perhaps a simpler version is useful to only insert an (grimy/clean) herb image, a second ingredient, a water/coconut vial or an unfinished potion. Any suggestions? --Miw 14:38, 11 September 2007 (UTC)

Crafting D'hides[edit source]

Sometime in the past I had calculated that it'd save more money if I only made vambraces and alched them rather than bodies, but my math today says otherwise. I would probably just make the bodies anyways, since I'm planning on killing the dragons myself, especially blue and red dragons, so I wouldn't lose any money anyways and crafting bodies is certainly faster. Thanks for the tip. My 99 log page is just a way for me to see what I need to do depending on whatever level I'm at, assuming I want to train a skill. I think I've decided to not power train any single skill to the exclusion of others, I think I would burn out way to fast, so I probably won't try for any 99s for a while. Once I finish all the quests (relatively soon I think, 220 quest points at the moment) I'll probably train a bunch of skills to get them all over level 70. Someone mentioned the term "Total Leveler" once, and I like the sound of that, so that's probably what I'll do from now on. 99's are more of a fad because of the skill capes, so I'll probably just keep doing what I would have done had skillcapes never been introduced. :o) Magic TIRRIANGANT (TALK) 16:19, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

Total Leveling[edit source]

Come to think of it, my original goal (before the skillcapes) was to get all the skills to the levels where I could access every part of those skills (85 being a good average for those). It's interesting to think about getting that. I train everything simultaneously anyways that can be trained together. I don't like to purchase things and I'm a little too independant as far as what I do in the game, I don't like relying on other people or gathering things for others. It was tough enough just taking time to gather the mort myre fungi, since it doesn't raise any skill whatsoever if I'm just selling it (if I were gathering it for myself, that would be different). It may be an ok way to make money, but I'm not as interested in money as I am in experience points and skill levels. Looking over my character though, I'm pretty pleased with the progress I've made, I've only been playing for about a year or so, and already have a decent number on my stats. Quests have slowed the skill raising a bit, but some of the xp rewards have been helpful.

Once I get my combat level to 85 (for Dream Mentor), I'll probably leave it there for a long while. I get tired of people assuming that combat level indicates the experience level of a player, so I figure if I can keep the combat level low and the total high, I can somewhat refute the point. I'll want my combat levels where they can allow me access to everything though, so my attack, strength, range, and prayer will be leveled to 70, defence to 75, and I'll probably go haywire with mage sometime, 90+ maybe. Good luck with your goals. :o) Magic TIRRIANGANT (TALK) 18:06, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

I've been doing Tears of Guthix for a while, mostly it was to level my Runecrafting, but I didn't get back to hunter for a while so Runecrafting jumped ahead of it (I like hunter, but quests have kept me from training it lately). But I try to get to tears every week unless I'm in the middle of something else (like Regicide at the moment), in which case I'll head over there once I'm available. My first goal is right with-in reach, of getting all skills to 50+ (just those two left). The quest points are certainly helping :o) Magic TIRRIANGANT (TALK) 19:29, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

New edit problems with another sandbox[edit source]

So, I'm trying a different way of displaying my information in a similar looking format, however, I'm having one problem. This time though I'm using my second Sandbox. For some reason the left hand column isn't displaying the border like it should be. The problem happened about the same time that I added the skill goal templates, so it may be that the border from those are conflicting somehow. When you have a minute, can you take a look? You'll also notice that the code is a lot cleaner (at least in my opinion) compared to the way the other page was (which is still not working the way it should). Yes I was considering doing something similar before I did rework the template, but was worried that this might become unclear as to what each link was pointing to. However after looking at Template:Teleport as you suggested it does look like that concept may work. For a few suggestions, how about something like:

Combat Potions and Mixes: Attack ( potion/mix), Strength ( potion/mix)
Combat Potions: Attack (mix), Strength (mix)
With the second, however, I’m concerned (although it should be fairly obvious that it doesn't) that the link appears to point toward strength as a skill as opposed to the strength potion. Dechaineux 15:02, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

RE:Yes you have a point, the '|'s in the template definitely do help to separate the links from each other, so yeah I think we should keep them in. So far, I think the example that you gave is probably the best and, as is the beauty of a wiki, we can always change it later if we decide against it :-). I'm actually about to call it a night, so I won't have time to modify it again in the near future, but if it still needs fixing next time I’m around I'll be happy to deal with it. Help?[edit source]

Is there a way that you can make my stat box align to the left of my user page with all of the other pics? Red partyhat.png PK 01 ER talkcontribs Ranged 12:53, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

I placed your skills table on the left (as you asked), by placing it in another table. This is the special {| and |}, and lines starting with | (for the cell contents).
Using tables and putting the contents in "cells" allows better positioning. If you want to look more at using tables, and examples of tables, click here. Amaurice talk 12:35, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

Events Page[edit source]

With your permission, I have began working on an Events page. This page will be used to suppliment the forums, and to allow all wikians to post their own events that they are hosting. Hopefully this will allow wikians to "get together" in game easier and allow new users to see firsthand the strong communtiy that we have at the Wiki. Also, this will try and bring the community together by building friendships in game. When complete, we can discuss it being linked on the main page to draw new wikians towards it. I am hosting it right now in my Sandbox, and welcome all criticism. Thanks!Scythe.png Atlandy 15:16, 9 October 2007 (UTC)

I was wondering if the events page should have a link on the main page, for newcomers to find it? Thoughts?Scythe.png Atlandy 15:54, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Infobox_Bonuses Suggestion[edit source]

Hi, I would just like to suggest a new "range" attribute for Template:Infobox_Bonuses. Basically it's the maximum number of "squares" a ranged weapon or spell can fire from. So far I've got 10 for magic, 9 for longbows and crossbows and 7 for shortbows. Using the "Longrange" option increases the range by 1. For presentation purposes, we can re-use the same image set used for attack speed, since the maximum value here is also 10. The static images for values 8, 9 and 10 can be pulled directly from the animated gif. Let me know what you think.

Thanks, Dromedarii 08:03, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I have tested F2P elemental combat spells, hexes and holding spells and they all appear to have the same range. I cannot comment on any members spells however. The green shading sounds fine. Thanks, Dromedarii 19:15, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

I did another round of tests. It appears both Longbows and Crossbows have a range of 10 regardless of attack mode. However when Shortbows are put to Longrange its range increases from 7 to 9. This applies to both the diagonal and orthogonal directions. My testing method involved shooting ducks in the pond in Falador garden, once they were stationary. Perhaps more testing is needed before the range attribute is implemented. Dromedarii 22:59, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

Smithing[edit source]

How did you get your smithing as high as it is? I find it a bit daunting even to get myself from 55 to 65 for Devious Minds, any suggestions about what I should do to get there? Herblore boost[edit source]

Any idea is mature greenman's ale is tradeable, and if it is, how much do you think it's worth? I'm trying to do Fairy Tale 2 without continuing to train herblore for now (it's quicker). Any idea whether I would be able to buy a mature greenman's ale, or do I have to brew it myself? By the way, I'm going to use the Dwarven Stout (m) for Devious Minds, I found where mine was hiding :o) Magic TIRRIANGANT (TALK) 16:25, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

*Rudely cuts in.* It is tradeable. I have no idea of its value though. Boosts don't work on Devious Minds though. Cool Spy0 17:10, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

As Cool Spy mentions, I think they are tradeable. I don't see many people selling though. Alternatively, you could use spicy stew to get the herblore boost. Amaurice talk 19:00, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I know 100%, for a fact, they are tradeable. As for spicy stew, I feel it's really unreliable so I hardly use it. Cool Spy0 19:46, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
I have the same concerns with Spicy stew, don't like the fact that I can't control what it does. Now if I could figure out a permanant formular that didn't change constantly, that would be a little nicer, but since it doesn't work that way, I don't use it. I'll check on the boost for Devious Minds when I get my smithing to 63 (tonight maybe), and I'll check the forums and see if anyone is selling a mature Greenman's ale (not a common request I'm sure). :o) Magic TIRRIANGANT (TALK) 21:27, 30 October 2007 (UTC)
I've only used spicy stew for a couple of skills when I needed it. Getting +5 takes about 20 stews on average, but getting +2 only takes 3 or 4 on average using the 3 spice stews. If my skill drops below the normal level (i.e. got negative result), then I might use a restore pot (rather than waiting for it to return to normal) before having next spicy stew. What I usually do is get about 10 or 20 raw meats (a shop in Canafis sells), then go to my POH kitchen and make into stews. I then collect a few of my chosen spice, then take the stews and spices to place that I need the skill at. Although one spicy stew can be made at the time, you take the stews and spices separately and mix when you need. Btw, I've used about 200 spicy stews overall, and I've never got a +6 (although Jagex say it's possible). Amaurice talk 08:57, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, no one's selling the mature greenman's ales, which was to be expected (some people in banks were saying "What's that?"). A friend and I went and put some to be brewed, so I guess we'll see if it'll work or not, might get lucky and somewhere in the 4 get a mature one, at least I hope so. :o) I'm about 500 bars away from getting 63 smith too, so sometime soon I'll be able to see if the boost works for Devious Minds too. Re:Category:Necromancers[edit source]

If you bothered to read the image on Melzar the Mad, you would see that he is indeed a necromancer. Hence the category addition. Planeshifted 21:14, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
I know he's a necromancer. The question was not about whether he was a necromancer, but whether you were going to create the necromancer category (which does not current exist), since you added a link to it. Amaurice talk 09:53, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

User box issue[edit source]

Hey, In my user page i have a set of user boxes. The PK user box isnt working (there is suppose to be the skull and cross bone image). I was wondering if you would take a look at it for me?

Red partyhat.png PK 01 ER talkcontribs Ranged

Looks like the skull image was removed as it was not used by mainspace articles. Christine has replaced the image in the template with one under her photobucket space.
If you do not see the image here, then maybe something is blocking your browsers ability to get the image from photobucket (like a firewall or something). Amaurice talk 12:42, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

help[edit source]

can you help me in runescape? i'm trying to finish some quests and skills but i need some help Voy101

Re:Nice going with the quests[edit source]

Thanks! I'm having fun with them, although I'm having to use guides in order to get them done this fast, so it's not nearly as challenging as I usually like them to be. Thanks for the advice about some of the boosts, but there are some things that will change. I may use the wild pie for the slayer boost in order to do the Back to my Roots quest, but I still need my combat level to be at 85 for Dream Mentor. Since I have to raise my combat, I may as well raise Slayer while I'm doing it. But I guess if I use a Wild pie, I could train on monsters I want to train on rather than what the Slayer master assigns me to do. We'll see. As for the farming, I still need to do My Arms quest, and with it's reward I'll be bumped to 53 (only about 1,200 xp away, something like that), so I'm not worried about that one. I'll use any xp rewards I can to get my defence up so I can raise my combat 2 more levels, but I'll have to train a bunch of it somewhere (7 def levels to get to 70, which will get me to 85 combat).

As for killing the Jade vine, I think that's the only method I'll use to raise my Slayer for a while, since I don't want to raise my combat level for some time after it's at 85. I may do some Slayer tasks with range until that gets to 70ish too, but I'm not too interested in raising combat skills more than I have to for quests. The only exception will be when most of my other skills come within reach of my combat skills.

After all the quests (and my month long break from RuneScape starting next Wednesday through Christmas) I'll be working on raising all my other levels to 60+ first, then 70+. As well as mastering a bunch of the minigames. I'll be moving to England in April, and I have yet to decide whether I'll continue to have an internet connection while I'm there, not sure what my financial situation will be yet.

Thanks for the advice and the encouragement. I might just be able to pull this off before next wednesday! :o) Magic TIRRIANGANT (TALK) 17:39, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Comments on my talk page[edit source]

I'm sorry to get you into this debate. I'm feeling attacked on a very deep and personal way, with rather pointed comments that are disparaging my writing style and not really addressing the issues I'm trying to bring up.

It also seems as though I keep having to repeat myself over and over again, saying that I'm not trying to demand anything, and I'm not insisting on the "Exchange" namespace... or the other issues that have been brought up.

Please don't take this personally, and when I hit "Save Page" on my user talk page, I thought you were User:Oddlyoko instead. Both he and User:Vimescarrot have been complaining about the Grand Exchange Market Watch based upon what I'm perceiving as ignorance rather than something of substance. Vimescarrot particularly is telling me to join in a discussion on a non-existent forum that I'm still confused about, where I'm supposed to start in seeking permission to edit on this wiki in this manner, or any manner at all. I just don't even understand what else I could have done here to get this whole thing going other than to act boldly and try something out the way I did.

I thought your comments on the Forum were incredibly thoughtful and really went to the heart of some problems with the Grand Exchange. This was an incredibly useful and needed addition to the game of Runescape, and I hope that Jagex is able to realize that some of their goals are simply unworkable. The upper and lower limits on G.E. prices are certainly confusing for both the rationale and even the ultimate outcome of what they really will accomplish.

Furthermore, thank you for at least showing some support for the Market Watch (originally the Price List). It is hard enough to put this all together when it is further complicated by users who are telling me that "You're doing this all wrong" when they really don't even have a clue about what it is that I'm doing. --Robert Horning 00:30, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
