Infobox quest[edit source]

Your doing work with Infobox Quest, right? You seem to get a quest help link to appear. May I ask how you do that? Also, what do you use the "number" parameter for? Matt (t) 07:08, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah I'm doing that... and they don't appear for meeee. Frown Oh ok. I'm still confused about "number". :/ Matt (t) 20:53, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

Rollback[edit source]

You should request the rollback feature, you seem to be a great anti-vandal and it would have meant you could have reverted everything at the Jagex page in 1 click, instead of 9 edits or how ever many. Hunter cape (t).png Sentra246Blue hallowe'en mask.png 07:27, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

Re:Myreque[edit source]

Well, I appreciate your edits (and I've actually kept that last one, with some modifications to the organisation) and in fact wasn't aware of the other ones to those other quests. Anyway, the first paragraph should always be called Starting Out with a clear under it and the chathead before the heading (per this) and other chatheads (especially these ones without AA and Curpile having a Hitler-moustache) should only be used when there is a lack of images (which there isn't) and it distorts the page a bit, for images cover bullet points and numbers. The paragraphs were fine with me though, split them up any way you like (just keep in mind that the policy also has some rules on that). Well, I think that's it. Have a GREAT wiki-day! *creepy eye tic* User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 16:20, November 28, 2011 (UTC)

The place is small location, the page is a small one. Your not going to get much more trivia than than so why not leave it there? Its would be interesting to some. Cheese Balls (talk) 12:33, October 19, 2012 (UTC)
I didnt fill it in for the sake of it. Like I previously said, that would be interesting to some, including myself thats why I put it there. Hey! You seem rather active in the featured article field, and thus I have a favour to ask. I'm planning to start a featured article nomination for, indeed, Amascut. Could you please read it carefully (no rush there, it's quite a read) and correct any typos etc. or notify me of inaccuracies or things that make no sense and that sort of stuff? User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 08:42, October 28, 2012 (UTC)

Gracias! User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 11:33, October 28, 2012 (UTC)
Hey, no problem, I wasn't expecting you to do it all at once. Do it in parts, wait a few days. =) I'm busy with school anyway. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 14:35, October 30, 2012 (UTC)
Err, not that I don't appreciate your help, but why did you remove so much here? A detailed description of a quest only makes the article have more body, instead of only saying what Amascut and only Amascut did, IMO. Rephrasing is fine, really, but I don't see the need to remove half of the section (I'd worked on for so long... :P), if you know what I mean. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 16:23, November 1, 2012 (UTC)
Hm, if you don't mind, I'll add some stuff from the previous version, so as to ascertain that it all makes sense (for example, now Leela's name is randomly thrown it, not mentioning her connection to Osman or Osman's connection to Khnum's banishing, to name something). You sure take your job seriously! :P User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 16:36, November 1, 2012 (UTC)
I've re-added some parts which are important to the storyline, like the Menaphos-Al Kharid war, how Ozan and Player tried to steal the diamond and were arrested and the death of the Emir. I kept the argument as short as possible, but added a note about the war and that the Emir rejected Jabari's "offer" (you seem to have forgotten it - but no worries). I think the section is perfect now. *hopes you won't change that much in the following sections :P* User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 17:37, November 1, 2012 (UTC)
A million thanks! Also, about disobeying the orders: Osman never wanted Ozan to steal the diamond, he only suggested to do so through manipulation of speech. So, officially, he has never disobeyed the Emir's orders. Ozan has, but he never had to obey them. But I'll leave it like this. :P The nomination will be up today, so take a look. Again, thank you! User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 13:12, November 4, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks! Now, time for User:Fswe1/Lores and Histories. :P User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 18:16, December 3, 2012 (UTC)

Re:haslore[edit source]

Whilst it seems useful to have the sources encountered in the quest available for reading, quest guides are usually used for doing quests. As someone who spent a great deal of time tracking down various texts, as a general rule the books are already linked to from the guide itself. As there are less than 5 books awaiting transcription, and minor, hard-to-find boos at that, I'd be inclined to say if someone was looking for what the book says they would look on the item page itself, rather than scrolling down to the bottom of the page to chance upon a link to the lore page.

Whilst saying all that, there is a point that very few texts are linked to what topic they concern, and it's something I've been musing over for a few months now (my attempt, Cook's attempt). What we've come up with so far still feels somewhat cumbersome to navigate. I have recently come up with the possibility of trying to group pages together under a common factor with relevant texts next to them, a combination of mine and cook's ideas, but I've yet to work out how to make it. cqm 15:30, 16 Nov 2012 (UTC) (UTC)

POP tables[edit source]

I think the tables are much more readable the way I had them.  The all-left-justified text makes it more difficult to read, IMO.  Common table justification is left column is right justified, all numbers are centered (unless it's an actual spreadsheed or formula in which totals are used so the number places need to line up vertically, and the right column, if text, is left justified.

Not to be confused with the RuneScape Wiki (Jagex), the wiki Jagex added to their website on 22 November 2011.

The RuneScape Wiki is a wiki started on 8 April 2005 based entirely on the MMORPG game RuneScape and its many features. There are currently 53,212 articles on the RuneScape Wiki.

Overview[edit source]

Started in April of 2005 by Merovingian, the RuneScape Wiki's goal is to remain a vast, knowledgeable source for all things in RuneScape. As the site is a wiki, anybody can edit it, and all are encouraged to do so.

The RuneScape Wiki aims to be a potential competitor to all major RuneScape fansites. Guides to new quests or holiday events, for example, can be made in under an hour, far ahead of other fansites. With more contributors, this goal can be easily achieved.

Wikis are often targets for vandalism because of the ability for it to be edited by anyone. However, the RuneScape Wiki is moderated by a number of administrators and other users.

This wiki has grown quickly, gaining editors on a daily basis. It contains a guide to every quest and treasure trail, and over 53,000 articles about items, locations and monsters.

How you can help[edit source]

It is a good idea that users register an account, preferably their RuneScape username. This way their IP address can be hidden from public view and they can become part of the community. It is recommended that your RuneScape password is not used as your Wikia password.

RuneScape is copyright 1999 to 2020 Jagex Ltd. The RuneScape Wiki is in no way affiliated with Jagex.

If you see anything that needs changing - change it! If you notice bad grammar, spelling errors, punctuation mistakes, inaccuracies, incompleteness or anything else that needs doing, hit the edit button at the top of the page and correct it yourself. If you speak another language other than English, you're more than welcome here, but helping out our sister projects (Bulgarian, Chinese(T), Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Lithuanian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish) would be as good or even better - they need content more than we do right now.

Please do not plagiarise copyrighted content from other sites.

Contribute to the various discussions we have constantly circulating - Featured articles, User of the Month, Page maintenance, and requests for adminship - the more opinions from the community we get, the better.

You can also help by doing some onerous cleaning duties - checking recent changes for vandalism, creating wanted pages, ensuring that no pages are orphans, making sure that all pages have categories, and generally reorganising information as required.

How to react to updates[edit source]

Updates come usually once a week from RuneScape. Here are some pointers on how to update the wiki.

All updates[edit source]

  • Add the update in Updates.
  • Modify Template:Updates so it's linked off the front page.
  • Add to the year page under Events history.
  • Add to the release date's page.

Quests[edit source]

  • Edit Quests to include the entry, and also update related information at the top regarding most recent quest, and total quest points.
  • Write the quest guide (at this stage, don't worry about red links).
  • Edit Quest points.
  • Edit List of quest release dates.
  • Edit Members-only quests.
  • If the quest provides a reward for a skill, the "quests" section of the skill page needs to be updated to include the quest. For example, Desert Treasure gives magic experience as a reward, so Magic#Quests needs to be updated.

General updates[edit source]

  • If the update gives access to a new area, links and articles need to be created for that area.
    • If the update affects an existing area, it is worth changing the location articles so that they point back at the quest - for example, Cold War features Ardougne, Lumbridge and the iceberg, so Ardougne and Lumbridge need to be updated, and a new article for the iceberg created.
    • If the update involves a dungeon, dungeon mapping should be done.
  • Ideally, all the new items related to the update need to be added into the appropriate categories.
    • If there is a new weapon, it needs to be added to the Weapons page.
    • Similarly with Armour.
  • If the update introduces something new for a skill, the skill page needs to be updated. For example, The Fremennik Isles introduced yak crafting, so the Crafting page needs to be updated.
  • If there are new monsters, they need to be placed in the Bestiary pages, and the locations pages should point to the new monsters pages.

RE[edit source]

Honestly, the same could be said for any of the parameters. I'd really rather keep anything related to actual fighting nested on the bottom; it's just neater, ya know? Frankly, combat level, life points, and attack style are all as equally "important" as the weakness, but we should just leave them where they are. It's just a click away. Also, attack speed is only set up as a 1:3 column span because the template for speed is too big... Kinda want it 2:2, but just can't. MolMan 13:35, March 15, 2013 (UTC)

Your recent Fairy Tale II revision[edit source]

Some of the editions make some sense to apply, but "Anywho" and changing a majority to lowercase letters that are already part of the name of the beings, only to uppercase half-way doesn't seem consistent to the articles. Could you explain briefly why you made said changes? For example, jobs and titles given to individuals come as formal or informal, somewhat depending on if it regards daily speech or part of a more official structure, which to me makes it awkward that some are left upper-case and some are simply made lower-case.

Line 21: Martin the Master Gardener - This change made sense.

Line 43: fairy Nuff's - now it's easy to understand that in perspective as humans denote them as fairies, as that species, but in general in the game and how it's normally actually used is with capitalization so that her name is not just Nuff, but Fairy Nuff, as her name (and an informal title). Same goes for Fairy Godfather, Fairy Queen (which you plainly made as fairy queen).

Barbapopo (talk) 15:34, May 9, 2013 (UTC)

- I get what you're saying. I'm just thinking in terms of what's just easily read, that say for important characters or items and beings, that what you look for when you skim through texts have a particular capitalization. Admittedly it shouldn't be a hassle if people bothered reading word for word, precisely, what's said in the article. All in all I mean to ask that just with the nature of articles in general you have that pattern, a reference for expectations, and should this change remain although there's a small instilled custom of practicality with capitalized names for beings and items, etc?

Yaktwee[edit source]

I created my account to make an edit but it still won't let me upload the image I want. I wanted to replace the current Yaktwee article's Yaktwee Bag image with my own because the current one does not show the bag filled to capacity and the article has no data on how the maximum number of items he can hold. This is the image I wished to replace it with: Could you please give me a hand? Wolfie123 (talk) 12:14, June 9, 2013 (UTC)

AVD response[edit source]

If the "update" and "release" release parameters are needed for the quest infobox, then why do you keep removing them?  And meerkat, who ever uses a meerkat? Your listing the only 4 treasure trail necessities but changing out one for something that people never use? I understand that, but your going to confuse people.  And you wrote that "(The above can be obtained during the quest, if you don't already have them)" but they can't.  The guide helps you to get them, mid-quest, but it makes you go out of your way to get them.  So you aren't getting them during the quest.  The Onion is the only item that is actually obtained during the quest which is why i left "(This item can be obtained during the quest, if you don't already have them)" right next to Onion and nothing else.  Also, you're adding the solution to the puzzle to a bullet point instead of part of the article to distinguish it as apart from.  I seperated it so that it would be something that your eyes would be drawn to sooner rather than later, so that the people who like those kind of things know that it is there.

Dexter[edit source]

Hey, Alchez. I think I figured it out. Only on the first episode of season 7 of Dexter, and Deb has started investigating Dexter. But anyways, I think Deb is a serial killer, as is Dexter. EHEHEHEHEH. See? Too smart for TV shows. They're so predictable.

Dexter theory 2[edit source]

I'm on season 8 episode 3, and I have yet another theory. Vougler (that psycologist and the one who's the psycopath expert) is also a psycopath :D. I KNOW I'm right! Dogfoger (talk) 16:39, October 11, 2013 (UTC)

Just thought about it, and I think Quinn is the Brain Surgeon (the dude who chops half his victims heads off and scooping out bits of their brains). It's either Quinn or Vougler :3. Dogfoger (talk) 16:49, October 11, 2013 (UTC)
So, I'm 26:30/56:30 minutes into the final episode of Dexter. He has just left Harrison and Hannah to go and check on Debra and take care of his target (the Brain Surgeon). I think Dexter is going to see Debra, she'll be fine, he goes to find the Brain Surgeon and ends up killing him, but Dexter dies aswell. Would be a perfect ending, no? Dogfoger (talk) 20:15, October 12, 2013 (UTC)
Ok, so I was kinda right. Wrong about Deb (I wanted to cry... WHY! WHY DID THEY HAVE TO KILL [email protected]@) I knew Dexter was gonna commit suicide when he was on his way to the hospital to pull the plug on Deb, and I knew he wasn't dead at the lumber yard scene. Man... what a series! Dogfoger (talk) 20:48, October 12, 2013 (UTC)

Chatbox placement[edit source]

Default? It's still atrocious. Please retake/revert. It's not like a slightly obsolete chatbox matters. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 15:31, February 5, 2014 (UTC)

No, the chatbox it's not supposed to be there, it's supposed to be in the bottom left corner. Not in the centre at least. Look at it. It's hideous!!! Also, what the hell is wrong with my sig... User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 15:37, February 5, 2014 (UTC)
The subject of the image isn't the chatbox, so I have to agree with Fartwall. MolMan 15:43, February 5, 2014 (UTC)
It's not the subject of all the images, true. But it isn't coming in the way of it either. And one of the images completely relies on the chatbox, by the way. Alchez 12:36, February 6, 2014 (UTC)
Adding on to what was said, just because it's the default placement doesn't mean it's the best, the default graphics settings have anti-aliasing turned off. Cutscenes simply aren't designed to have the dialogue box right in the middle of the screen, in lots of cutscenes it blocks characters and other parts of the cutscene. Heck, it's now IMPOSSIBLE to see the player kicking Nomad's corpse. Also, it's waste of time to update images just because the chatbox font has changed. Adventurer's log Wahisietel (Talk) Quest map icon.png 12:47, February 6, 2014 (UTC)
I completely get your point, and know that if the images I uploaded had interfered with the cutscene, I would have definitely moved the chatbox. I have no problem with the placement of the chatbox, but to me, personally, the chatbox in the central position looks neat, and it being the default setting made sense. But then, just my opinion. Alchez 15:24, February 6, 2014 (UTC)

Adv log quest messages[edit source]

Explain to me why the adventurer's log quest messages may only exist on a single obscure subpage that 99% of users won't even know exists, rather than having them both on that single overview page and in each quest's trivia? Small recharge gem.png AnselaJonla Slayer-icon.png 12:31, March 21, 2014 (UTC)

Yes, a link on the adventurer's log page. And I disagree, I think the messages are something that should go into trivia. Also, you never answered my other question: where's the YG that this was decided in? Small recharge gem.png AnselaJonla Slayer-icon.png 12:41, March 21, 2014 (UTC)
I completely disagree that these are not trivia. They are tidbits of information that are directly related to the quest, but, at the same time, are not wholly notable enough to go in the main body of the article. MolMan 12:48, March 21, 2014 (UTC)
That's faulty logic. If someone is unaware you are doing something, then their silence doesn't imply consent. That's also completely incorrect to say that a forum would be moot. With no prior consensus for your edits and multiple people showing opposition to them, you should really stop doing them. I'm also worried about this attitude towards consensus. "No one stopped me before, so I don't need consensus, and there's no need to get consensus either at this point" is completely wrong and counter-intuitive to the fundamental ideals of a wiki. MolMan 13:50, March 21, 2014 (UTC)
We're the opposition, so there's clearly controversy on this topic. I understand perfectly what's going on, I just disagree with it. Interesting or not, this trivia is kinda notable. I'd actually say it deserves its own little thing seeing how it's something every quest has. I'd probably put it in the rewards section. I don't see how "sums up what you've been doing for the entirety of the quest" is relevant at all. That premise for removal seems overly arbitrary. You never mentioned that there were people who knew, only that no one existed who complained, so don't assume I knew. I can understand the removal as well; however, I disagree with it completely. This information isn't subject to change, so there's reason to have the information on just one page. If you're going to force me to choose one or the other and not both, I'm going for quest pages. That's where the information is most relevant. If I want to know the quest complete log message for a quest, the first place I'd look is the quest's page. If that page is the first page most users would look for information, that is where the information should be. Your point about the page being easy to find isn't very strong because there's no hint as to where the information is if it's not on the quest page. If information isn't where it most should be, then many would assume it doesn't exist at all. Your removals are also against the precedents set with every other adventure log entry, as we note it for monsters killed and items like the completionist cape on both pages, and even have an entire category that is dedicated to item drops for the log. MolMan 14:49, March 21, 2014 (UTC)
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that. What's "Fair enough"? and which parts are we agreed on? MolMan 13:44, March 22, 2014 (UTC)

Quest Numbers[edit source]

User:Xt0rt3r seems to have done that to a lot of quests, not just grouping quest numbers, but also changing them. I guess it's based on this page of his; but don't ask me whether that's the right way of going about it. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 10:52, June 15, 2014 (UTC)

I don't intend to speak for the user in question, but I think his point was that both quest number 38 and 39 were released on the same day / with the same update: so how does one determine which is 38 and which is 39? Same with 1-6. Other than that, I'm not getting involved in the matter; I just want a consistent solution. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 12:32, June 15, 2014 (UTC)

Plague's End[edit source]

To be exact, the Dark Lord is fought after the puzzle numbers you mentioned; he's fought during seals 4 to and including 8. Although, perhaps meanwhile the only way to handle it is to warn the user about RRR *sigh* . IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 13:28, August 17, 2014 (UTC)

Yes, you fight the Dark Lord during seals 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. My message didn't mean to imply your count was off; just wanted to clarify during which seals he was fought. Part of the confusion probably stems from the stages being a battle first, followed by the puzzle. A stage is finished after the puzzle is done; and then a new battle begins. Anyhow, I'm awaiting a reply from TonyBest100 on the matter, as he reverted the last revert... granted this should've been taken to a talk page long before anyhow. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 15:08, August 17, 2014 (UTC)

Underground Pass[edit source]

In a heading, capitalise only the first letter of the first word and the first letter of any proper nouns, and leave all of the other letters in lowercase.

RS:QSG#Other paragraphs:

Remember that, as always, only nouns, (ad)verbs and adjectives should start with a capital. Prepositions, articles, etc. should not.

This is also your only warning for RS:3RR. --Iiii I I I 18:42, February 25, 2015 (UTC)

Sorry about that. For some reason, I interpreted RS:QSG as agreeing with RS:STYLE. A YG thread would be a good idea – maybe a general one about which policies take precedence if there's an inconsistency, rather than about this specific issue? --Iiii I I I 13:20, February 26, 2015 (UTC)

Quest headers[edit source]

Hi Alchez, I saw that you were capitalizing all the nontrivial words in headers in quest articles (like here). I believe that the original justification used was that the Quest Style Guide sanctioned it. It had an example with the headers with all nontrivial words capitalized and had the sentence "Remember that, as always, only nouns, (ad)verbs and adjectives should start with a capital. Prepositions, articles, etc. should not." This sentence is confusing in that it might seem to have said that all nouns, (ad)verbs, and adjectives should be capitalized, but it actually doesn't. The sentence actually said that only those words are to be capitalized, not that all of those words should be capitalized. In essence, the point is that all words that are excluded from that category should not be capitalized, not that all words included in that category should be. In any case, the sentence has been removed. The Style Guide has always provided that "In a heading, capitali[z]e only the first letter of the first word and the first letter of any proper nouns, and leave all of the other letters in lowercase." Please follow this in the future. If you believe it should be changed, feel free to discuss this on the Yew Grove. Cheers, --LiquidTalk 02:26, March 29, 2015 (UTC)

Fairy tale[edit source]

Hey! You edited the  Quik_Guide of the Fairy tale. How can it be too specific? If you put your compass on the north part, then follow the north-north east route, you literally get to the point you are supposed to go. It is a Quik guide, meaning people who visit that page don't want to spend too much time questing.

Incomplete quest page Crocodile Tears[edit source]

Having seen your name on some of my fixup pages that I followed and noting that you are marked as a custodian I wanted to drop a note. I noticed today that the Crocodile tears quest page was marked incomplete. I worked on marking it up while trying not to get to expansive. It could use an editor's touch (already noticed I was varying between uk and usa english conventions) but I believe it a better than quick guide version now.

Also is a note like this even necessary, or should I rather 'just let the system work?'

Grand Tree: Meeting Hazelmere Reversion[edit source]

Hello Alchez, Thank you for the clean up on the Grand tree edit. However, I need to take exception with the reversion of the meeting with Hazelmere. The player only turns over the bark sample, not the translation book (it's obvious Hazelmere does not truck with translating his own language). He doesn't use magic to communicate with the player in this quest. The Gnome language and use of the translation book are a key quest point. mssig030.png Mithyr Sar Talk 20:28, March 3, 2018 (UTC)

Reverted black armour edit[edit source]

Hey, I added the note about black gauntlets to that line because just stating that "any three black armour items" work is incorrect. I went there with black gauntlets because they fall under "any black armour items". If removing redundancy is absolutely necessary, it should be removed from the longer list, not from that line. —Shaun Dreclintalk 18:34, 26 October 2018 (UTC)

RE: Quest guide edits[edit source]

The issue is that my edits, including the changes from you to "player," also include other changes. Can you revert the changes from player to you but keep the other changes?

Edit: I have found some pages that use "player," not you, that are related to quests. One example is Cup of tea (Ghosts Ahoy). Should these pages be changed also?

Vote in the Weird Gloop elections![edit source]

Hi Alchez!

Because of your involvement with the wiki, you are eligible to vote on the candidates for the board of Weird Gloop, the company that hosts the RuneScape and Old School RuneScape wikis.

See meta:Weird Gloop elections/2019/Candidates for candidate presentations, and meta:Weird Gloop elections for how to vote – it'll take maybe 5 minutes.

There are 4 candidates for RuneScape, 4 candidates for OSRS, and 1 candidate for pt-RuneScape. If you'd like to influence who represents the voices of these communities inside the company, I strongly encourage you to vote! You are one of only 204 people that meet the requirements, and this is a chance to help shape the future of the wikis.

Thanks! ʞooɔ 01:09, 23 December 2019 (UTC)

Shilo Village quest[edit source]

Howdy, Alchez. You deleted the section I added yesterday on the grounds of redundancy. The reason I added that section is that I was unable to find out how to get around the Jade Maze without asking another player for help. I added that section so that others may find the gate more easily. If you review the discussion page, you will see that another user (Draksidian) independently commented on a need for such a section. If you are aware of more relevant information, feel free to add to the section and improve it to meet your standards rather than deleting important information.

Cheers. Crimzaine (talk) 22:33, 29 July 2020 (UTC)

Hello again; I agree that the "Getting there" section of the Shilo Village (location) page is a more centralized place for the walking directions to live. Now that I know that section exists, I will put the directions there instead. Regarding redundancy, the "Getting there" section in its current state is useless for a first-timer headed to Shilo Village. The walking directions I wrote are not redundant but rather, misplaced. I'm new to editing on the wiki, so I am going to misplace a lot of things before I figure out where everything ought to go.
Thanks for giving me the information I need to resolve the issue. Cheers! Crimzaine (talk) 16:32, 30 July 2020 (UTC)
