Welcome[edit source]

Hello and welcome to the wiki! Have fun editing here, but first you should read the Style Guide to see how articles should be set up and our Help page for general help around the wiki. Editing help can be found here. If you need help with anything feel free to ask me on my Talk Page. There are many editors here who can help you with anything you need. Also, if you haven't already, why don't you create a User page to help everyone get to know you better? You can even create a Signature on the page Template:signatures/Hephaestus to help add color to your name when you sign posts. Check out this page for help with that. Always remember to sign your forum and talk page posts with 4 tildes ~~~~ until you've got a sig (if you'd like one), or just press the sign button: Signature button.png. Once again, welcome!

Also, nice table. Christine 21:22, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Starfire gauntlets[edit source]

I actually should have created that redirect about a month ago. I'm not sure how I missed it. Your creation of it was fine. MolMan 00:23, June 14, 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion[edit source]

Please make sure nothing links to a page/template before tagging it so that the deleting administrator's job is easier (and in this case, tag Category:Animal staves for deletion as well). Thanks, --Iiii I I I 01:14, August 26, 2016 (UTC)

Templates![edit source]

Nice work with those templates! =D Farming-icon.png Salix (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 18:06, August 31, 2016 (UTC)

Same message as above :P One remark though, can't the collapsed groups be regular groups? It kinda hides those items, while they could be displayed as well. Farming-icon.png Salix (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 08:31, September 13, 2016 (UTC)
I totally agree that all templates should be consistent, but I feel that hiding parts of the navbox is bad. You should either reveal all at once (e.g. Template:Demons) or group them all like Template:Experience lamp. Because hiding one group just feels weird to me IMO. Farming-icon.png Salix (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 17:05, September 24, 2016 (UTC)
Okay, that's seems fine. (All revealed, but grouped) :) Farming-icon.png Salix (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 23:41, September 24, 2016 (UTC)

the Wikian title[edit source]

Hello! Following the discussion at RuneScape:The Wikian, you have been granted the Wikian title! Please make arrangements with Gaz Lloyd to receive the title in game. If you could please add your in-game name to RuneScape:The Wikian/Users, it would be most appreciated. Thanks and congratulations! svco4bY.png3Gf5N2F.png 01:17, December 14, 2016 (UTC)

Defenders[edit source]

We could remove the defenders (and reprisers and rebounders) from their respective shield and off-hand weapon navs and merge the augmented defender nav to the defenders nav so there's a single navbox with all defenders. Slayer helm merge[edit source]

Hey, I closed your RfM because we currently have an active discussion on this topic in the Yew Grove. See Forum:Slayer helm merge. It's best to keep all discussion on the topic in one place. Feel free to contribute to the discussion there (you can just copy/paste your statement on your RfM if you want). Thanks, --LiquidTalk 22:05, June 19, 2017 (UTC)

Drop enhancers, etc[edit source]

Hey, I closed your RfS as successful. However, looking at the page, I can't clearly tell what counts as what. Do you mind splitting the page? Thanks! Let me know if you can't/don't want to and I'll take another pass at it. --LiquidTalk 03:34, July 4, 2017 (UTC)

When you create the new pages, please make the second word lowercase, e.g. 'Drop modifier', 'Drop cleaner', and 'Luck enhancer'. Farming-icon.png Salix (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 06:51, July 4, 2017 (UTC)

Summoning pouches[edit source]

Hey, why did you remove the sacred clay pouches from Template:Summoning pouches? Farming-icon.png Salix (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 18:08, August 15, 2017 (UTC)

True, but I'm kinda conflicted about it. You are right, they are only used in Stealing Creation, but on the other hand they are also a Summoning pouch. But if you already consistently removed all sacred clay items from all navboxes besides {{Stealing Creation}}, then it should probably remain like that. I'll revert my re-addition of the sacred clay pouches to the pouches nav. Farming-icon.png Salix (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 08:38, August 17, 2017 (UTC)

RE:Template:Prayer equipment edit[edit source]

Hey Aescopalus, here are all prayer navboxes:

Btw, we could automate Armour/Prayer armour with DPL, like augmentation is done. That way the page won't have to be updated manually. :) Which is also the reason I created Category:Items with a prayer bonus so DPL would be possible. Wikia forking thread[edit source]

Hey Aescopalus! I wanted to give you a heads up that there's a thread (Forum:Leaving Wikia) up for discussion right now about moving this wiki (and OSRS wiki) away from Wikia, to a self-hosted, Jagex-supported site. We'd love your input on the proposal (and the new wikis). Thanks! Magic logs detail.pngIsobelTalk page 19:11, September 30, 2018 (UTC)

Odd cuisine[edit source]

Hey! Did you mean to include unfinished gnome foods in the odd cuisine navbox? 2620:0:1009:FD00:4C9B:F782:DF76:9C32 22:48, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

Yup! Reasoning is - the unfinished gnome foods were the items that were required in order to make an odd gnome food. All items were removed in the same update in 2006 when gnome cooking was reworked. I left the half made food items in the gnome cooking template, as these still exist, can be obtained in game, and are unrelated to odd cuisine. Aescopalus (talk) 22:57, 23 October 2018 (UTC)

RE:Advice on an Infobox for Cooking[edit source]

I'd merge cookware and utensils into 'tools' (also remove the switch in the code that's from equipment for these two), rename equipment to something else, as you can't equip this, so idk, maybe hardware would be a better description? I'd also add instructions back, but optionally of course. I'd also add 'no' to 'burn level' as it is the level at which burning stops, 'burn level' sounds like it starts to burn at this level (I know this is how it already was, but it's more clear including 'no' imo). And tbh I'd remove those section headers. Examples below for everything I mentioned.

RE: Template:Augmented_two-hand_weapons and other augmented weapon navboxes[edit source]

Hi, I was in the process of redistributing all augmented variants onto the navboxes that contain their unaugmented counterparts, but I've been neglecting that lately, because of achievements project, the fork, etc. The reason for this was a discussion started on Discord on 25 July 2018 in the #wiki-rs channel. This discussion was caused by people constantly superscripting the augmented variants of the defenders onto the unaugmented variants within the {{Defender}} navbox and me fixing that to have all items both regular and augmented displayed. The defender navbox was at the time the only navbox containing both regular and augmented items in one navbox equally. That discussion resulted in me realising it would indeed be better to just merge the augmented variants upon the regular equipment navboxes, e.g. add the augmented variants to {{Melee bodies}}. But not add the augmented variants the source navboxes, e.g. {{Kalphite King}} shouldn't contain the augmented variant, just the dropped regular drygores as it would open up that navbox to get ALL the variants, so best to leave all the variants on the proper equipment navbox and not the source navbox. Main reason for me at least is to reduce the amount of navboxes each augmented item has. The reason for others was to have everything in one place instead of having all variants spread over multiple navboxes. My initial reason when I made the augmented navboxes was because originally all augmented stuff were conveniently put into one massive navbox by me, then I split it per slot as well as giving off-hands, shields, and defenders each their own navbox although all being in the off-hand slot just for clarity. Masterwork equipment[edit source]

The reason for reverting Masterwork equipment as it has a vital info for making Masterwork and a table that tracks how much ore/bars is needed to make Masterwork i have some players that have said "where is the table i need it" that is the reson i have reverted i hope you understand my reason for me doing this.Nilstar (talk) 11:32, 16 January 2019 (UTC)

RE:Exhausted silver rock in Mining template[edit source]

Hey Aescopalus, I was planning on (re)adding the stuff that's currently missing from the {{Mining}} navbox. Reason for this being so historical pages are also still linked. I'm planning to make a historical group at the bottom which will include deleted/discontinued Mining content. As for the single use stuff as well as the red rock, those should also be (re)added for consistency sake in my opinion. Recipes on summoning pouches[edit source]

Hey, I removed the Template:Infobox recipe from the summoning pouches, because the info is all in the Template:Infobox Pouch. I also update infobox pouch so that it sets the same properties as infobox recipe, which I assume was the reason for adding the infobox recipe? Thanks for your edits! Rewording Articles[edit source]

Hey! I noticed that you changed articles like cave nightshade and raw potato to better bring them up to date, but I just had a note about some articles that you revamped like this. The way cave nightshade's lead paragraphs were rewritten made it seem, at first, like it's primary purpose is as a flower like rosemary or nasturtiums, when it's actually for Herblore. It also made it seem like the only way to get it is by farming, since that was the only way mentioned in the lead. I think it's best for an article like that to mention it's primary purpose (in Herblore) first and the most common/efficient way to gather it, which in that case is by respawn.

I had a similar note about raw potato: the way it's rewritten makes it seem like the most efficient way to gather it is from planting potato seeds, when it's actually probably easiest to pick it from a field. Saying only that it's produce harvested from an allotment patch, when there's several fields full of tens of them, is a little misleading about how best to get it. I'm glad these old articles are getting some love, but these were just some notes I had that I thought best to share. Thank you! ɳex undique 21:22, 14 December 2019 (UTC)

Vote in the Weird Gloop elections![edit source]

Hi Aescopalus!

Because of your involvement with the wiki, you are eligible to vote on the candidates for the board of Weird Gloop, the company that hosts the RuneScape and Old School RuneScape wikis.

See meta:Weird Gloop elections/2019/Candidates for candidate presentations, and meta:Weird Gloop elections for how to vote – it'll take maybe 5 minutes.

There are 4 candidates for RuneScape, 4 candidates for OSRS, and 1 candidate for pt-RuneScape. If you'd like to influence who represents the voices of these communities inside the company, I strongly encourage you to vote! You are one of only 204 people that meet the requirements, and this is a chance to help shape the future of the wikis.

Thanks! ʞooɔ 01:07, 23 December 2019 (UTC)

Signature[edit source]

Hey Aescopalus, I noticed here that you still use the wikia format, could you change it so your signature field in the preferences just only contains {{Signatures/Aescopalus}}? The whole subst/nosubst thing isn't necessary anymore. :) P.S. Are you also on Discord? Farming-icon.png Salix (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 09:50, 31 January 2020 (UTC)

RE:Discord, I was just wondering. :P Only if you're interested in joining discord. It's a way to communicate a little bit faster with fellow editors. Farming-icon.png Salix (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 21:57, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

autosort tables[edit source]

This is in RE: some edits you've made from somewhat recently (15 June 2020) to not-so-recently (29 December 2019), and you may already have discovered this since then (in which case please ignore), however...

When adding autosort to a table's class list, the value to sort column #1 in a ascending order would be autosort=1,a. The syntax autosort=1²{comma}²a is only used within certain DPL parameters and will otherwise lead to garbled output when the wikicode gets parsed.

I think I've come up with a good regexp search that finds the ~109 non-DPL results and will try to work through those as I can, but I just wanted to give you a heads up in case you run into future cases where autosort would be useful. -- MrDew (talk) 08:49, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

undo Xolo city[edit source]

Hi Aescopalus, Just wanted a short comment on the undo revision of the Xolo city page. I actually removed the things I did, simply because it is duplicate content which serves no use (for me this looked similar to what we do for images that are duplicate -> speedy deletion candidate). And the information of the mystery/research is just not on the right page, it is clearly Archaeology and excavation related not necessarily the place of the location. Even though there is still discussion, to me at least it is clear why these things did not belong on that page. But I will refrain from editing until the discussion is closed. Module:Get production info error[edit source]

Hi. Where did you get an error? Henneyj 05:16, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

Thanks. I think it might have been because I'd only just updated Infobox recipe with the variable being passed to it, so any pages not refreshed yet would be missing it. I'm going to try again and see if there are any problems. Henneyj 18:58, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
Yes, I've been looking. Turns out someone implemented materials to get passed through from other templates without updating the documentation. Found it in Infobox Construction and Infobox Pouch so far, hoping there's not many others. But will need updating one way or another to account for that. Very annoying. It works with the normal template. Henneyj 19:24, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, I've updated it now and there don't seem to be any errors. Do you happen to know if there's a way to query what templates are feeding the smw info through to the template? I've updated the documentation with the others I found but I don't know if it's still missing some. Henneyj 04:39, 25 March 2021 (UTC)

Do you have any old computers you played RuneScape on?[edit source]

Hi Hephaestus!

Recently we've been trying to recover lost versions of RuneScape that Jagex didn't save. We're asking anybody who played from 2001-2012 to check old computers, laptops, hard drives, or backups for old RuneScape files.

Your userpage says you've been playing since 2005, so it's very likely that you have one of the missing versions. It would be great if you could search any old devices you may have so that these older versions of RuneScape aren't lost forever.

If you have any questions, feel free to join our Discord which shows the specific files we are looking for in full detail, and where people can help guide you through the search. Alternatively you can read our page on the Lost Media Wiki, and leave a message on my talk page.
