Welcome[edit | edit source]

Nice of you to visit my site on this wiki. No longer a frequent visitor, nor a frequent player of RS anymore. Still using the wiki and correcting parts where appropriate. Note that Miw is not my RS name.

Wiki Activities[edit | edit source]

After finding this site, i started supporting the wiki by making minor additions to already existing pages. After a while, it seemed a good idea to make a proper account and learn more about wiki formatting. A user page is a great way to do this, as it motivates people to make a half decent page and learn about wiki editing details without damaging the main wiki. As a newby to wiki technology, i attempted some pretty extreme template coding for the Combat formula template, which shows the expressive power and the constraints of wiki formatted text. It almost provides the capabilities of server side scripts. The template still has some problems (cannot be included in tables and cannot be floated).

In my view the RS wiki also has not yet defined its target audience. It seems that there is a quiet assumption that the audience is limited to RuneScape players. As i generally find it difficult to write without knowing my audience my Sandbox contains an attempt to identify other types of people that might seek more information on RuneScape. My Sandbox also tries to identify the information needs from players. Not all of these are covered by the current type of content.

Some of my (more notable) contributions to the RuneScape Wiki:

Skipping a combat level[edit | edit source]

I jumped from 112 combat to 114 combat, because i do not like 113 as a number. So how does this work? First you have to get you combat level close to the next level as shown in the following table:

Combat level
Defence 85 Constitution 10
Prayer 73 Summoning 1
Attack 92 92 92
Strength 91
Ranged 87 89.25 89
Magic 99 97 97

So, even though the combat level is 112, the fcombat ormula calculates to 112.98 (which is pretty close to 113). The idea is to use one monster kill to increment several combat skills in one giant leveling step. The monster of choice is a ghast which gives 30 prayer experience when a player kills it. Using controlled combat and making sure all combat skills are within 30 experience points from levelling, the one Ghast kill will increase strength, attack, defence and prayer. Adding one to those skills gives the following combat table:

Combat level
Defence 86 Constitution 10
Prayer 74 Summoning 1
Attack 93 93.25 93
Strength 92
Ranged 87 89.75 89
Magic 99 97.5 97

Hence, the one monster kill yields two combat levels! The only problem is to make sure that there is no hitpoints gain and to prevent an unintentional combat skill level increase.
