What is this?[edit | edit source]
The Stronghold of Player Safety used to be fairly crowded, as players generally accept that Cockroach soldiers have the highest average gp/kill of all non-member monsters. After the introduction of Dungeoneering, along with a significant rise in the Common Trade Index, however, the Cockroach soldier's popularity decreased somewhat. I still find them decent monsters to train on while multi-tasking (although Giant Spiders are still the best for experience & multi-tasking), so I have compiled and will continue to compile information on drops (under the because-I-can theory?).
This log attempts to give a general idea of what kind of non-member drops are given by Cockroach soldiers , as well as the general proportions of their drops. Obviously, sample size will be / is a major problem; I won't be confident in stating drop probabilities without getting at least 100 of each type of drop (except for items on the rare drop table ), and this will take quite a while.
Each "trip" in the log shown above is a single trip to the bank in which I restock on health and food. My stats can be found on my User page or the hiscores, and I use 26 salmon in each trip. I keep two inventory spaces open so that I can start picking up drops immediately. Note that data on my trips is not meant to be particularly secure; I just keep it there as a convenience to the reader.
After each trip, I use the experience gained (using one combat style) to calculate (assuming 1.5% regeneration per kill) the number of kills per trip and record it in a Notepad file. Every so often, I run my program (Java) to write up the drop table you can see above.
