Unidentified liquid was an item which, after being identified as nitroglycerine, was used in the The Dig Site quest to make chemical compound along with ammonium nitrate, ground charcoal, and arcenia root to blow up bricks blocking the path below the Varrock Dig Site. It was obtained by using a vial on the barrel with a skull mark on it near the panning point, and could be brought to the Archaeological expert to learn that it's nitroglycerine, which would damage for 350 life points instead of 250. It was also used by players wearing Dharok equipment to lower health, so they can hit higher.

Warning: Do not drop the liquid, or you will be hit for 250 life points. Instead, empty the vial, then drop the vial to discard it safely. Dropping the liquid you will say: "Ow! The liquid exploded!"

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • An update changed the way these items work, as a continuous drop of self-damaging items can no longer lead to self-inflicted death; The player will always remain with at least 20-30 life points.
  • Although this item is used in The Dig Site quest, it is still obtainable after the quest as players may return to the Varrock Dig Site to refill their vials with this liquid. Reopening the Barrel with a Trowel is needed.
