This article is a consolidation of all subpages of the Treasure Trails/Guide page. It simply transcribes everything from the subpages. For this reason, this may lead to inconsistencies or things being repeated twice.

Preparation[edit | edit source]

Difficulty levels[edit | edit source]

The 'level' of a clue scroll relates to its difficulty. There are five levels of clue scroll, Easy, Medium, Hard, Elite and Master. A clue scroll (easy) is a low difficulty treasure trail, with a low reward yield. A clue scroll (medium) is a medium difficulty treasure trail with a more substantial reward yield. A clue scroll (hard) is a hazardous Treasure trail which can be very rewarding. A clue scroll (elite) is the second most dangerous clue scroll to receive and complete, with potentially very expensive rewards. A clue scroll (master) is the most challenging clue scroll type. However, it has the greatest and most expensive rewards.

Length[edit | edit source]

  • Easy scrolls can be between 3 and 5 clues long with few or no quest requirements.
  • Medium scrolls can be between 4 and 6 clues long with some quest requirements.
  • Hard scrolls can be between 5 and 7 clues long, with multiple enemies to defeat and can have high-leveled quest requirements.
  • Elite scrolls can be between 5 and 7 clues long, with multiple fights, and puzzles between most steps.
  • Master scrolls are between 6 and 8 clues long, with high-leveled quest and skill requirements.

Having a Totem of Treasure active reduces both the minimum and maximum amount of steps by 1. The top part is obtained from Big Game Hunter, the middle from the Anachronia Agility Course, and base from finding 20 ancient zygomites. The former two might take a significant amount of time to obtain. Despite this, it is highly advised as it will save a considerable amount of time in the long run. [1]

Globetrotter Outfit[edit | edit source]

The globetrotter outfit is highly recommended when the player can afford one, as the set itself is designed to help players complete treasure trails faster:

  • The body teleports players to the location of the current active clue, which is useful for tedious steps such as elite compass clues.
  • The leg allows players to signal Uri with a right-click option when having the correct items worn. This bypasses emotes, some of which like Dance is somewhat long and prevents the player from switching to better weapons quickly. This is useful for easy, medium, hard and master clues.
  • The armguards allow players to store teleports, some of which may be a little tedious to get to, such as the Lighthouse for medium and hard clues.
  • The boots allow for unlimited running - this is generally not a problem for players with high Agility levels.
  • The backpack can reroll for a clue of the same difficulty if the player gets a step they cannot complete - this is generally not a problem for players who meet all the requirements.

It costs 4,950 Treasure Trail points in order to buy the full set. Depending on what the player has, they should be bought in the following order:

  • Meets requirements - jacket > backpack > armguards > shorts > boots
  • Doesn't meet requirements - backpack > jacket > armguards > shorts > boots

Quests[edit | edit source]

Having a high amount of quest points is beneficial when doing treasure trails. Many higher-level trails will lead a player into areas which are locked by quests, or require item(s) that can only be unlocked after completing said quest. Note that the latter can be skipped with costume-skipping tickets, but this is highly discouraged; even, the clue could potentially be locked behind one quest and requiring items from another.

Complete the quest as soon as possible, even if only partial completion is required, as it will save a lot of time in the long run if the player runs into that clue again.

Treasure Trail rewards[edit | edit source]

Treasure trails can be the single most lucrative thing a player ever does. However it is akin to winning the lottery. A player may emerge from a clue with a willow shortbow and a Coif, or they could gain a Zamorak page, a 3rd Age Armour Piece, and assorted Rune Armour all from the same clue. The value of the rewards garnered depend heavily on the level of the clue scroll completed. Players completing level 3 clues will never see a Willow shortbow no matter how many clues they complete, likewise players completing a Level 1 Clue will never be rewarded with a 3rd age armour piece. Once completed, the rewards given by a clue are absolutely random and unaffected by any factor provided elsewhere in the game.

Higher level clues generally give better rewards but, due to the randomness of rewards given, there is a very large variance in value or the rewards. As an example, for all levels of clues, players can get random pieces of armour. The type of armour received differs based on the level of the clue completed, with level 1 clues generating black armour, level 2 clues generating adamant, and level 3 clues generating rune armour. Similar trends exist with other reward items such as bows, and ranged armour. Although generally speaking the reward from a higher level clue will be worth more than a lower level counterpart, there are some notable exceptions (such as rune nails as opposed to an adamant platebody) where a high level clue generate a low yield. These instances of poor rewards range from rare to mildly uncommon.

A clue scroll could generate well over 120 million gold pieces worth of items, depending on the current prices of the various pieces of 3rd age armour. Other rewards include the god armours, the gilded and trimmed armours, the heraldic armour, as well as several unique items such as sleeping caps, boater hats, animal staves, and animal masks.

Be aware that there are items that can be obtained from a clue scroll that are not unique to treasure trails. These items are also listed in the rewards guide and so will not be detailed here, but include items such as various bows, ranged and melee armour, and weapons.

The update along with elite clue scrolls made a mechanism to make sure that each clue scroll will generate at least one item that is a unique treasure trail item. This unique item can vary, from being as little as one coloured firelighter, to a part of the Third-age druidic equipment.

Chest keys[edit | edit source]

Chest keys are 'step two' of a clue. Sometimes, a clue will lead the player to a locked chest or drawer. A key will be needed to open it, which will be dropped by a specific monster. A clue will tell which monster to kill. These chest key clues are usually found on lower level trails. The key will disappear when used to open the chest or drawer. Before and after the trail, the monster will no longer drop the key.


Anagrams[edit | edit source]

An anagram is a string of letters which may be rearranged into another word or phrase. For example: orchestra is an anagram of carthorse. Anagrams can appear in level 2, level 3, and level 5 clues. Below is a complete list of anagram solutions. If one is missing, please add it to the list. The solution of an anagram is always the name of an NPC. Once the solution is found, the player can get their next clue by talking to that NPC. When the player talks to the solution NPC in a level 3 trail, they will receive a challenge scroll or a puzzle box. Solve the puzzle box and talk to the NPC again, or tell the NPC the answer to the challenge scroll, to receive the next clue.

Celtic knots[edit | edit source]

Celtic knots are puzzles that can only be found when completing elite clue scrolls to proceed further. They were released on 4 August 2010 as part of the Treasure Trails update.[2]

To solve a real-life celtic knot puzzle, the knot must be adjusted to have rotational symmetry. A celtic knot puzzle has two solutions, as rotational symmetry can go in two directions. Interactive celtic knot solvers for RuneScape can be found online.

Description[edit | edit source]

A celtic knot puzzle is based on decorative knots or cord designs, both physically and visually depicted in various art media, which usually are shown as being endless, interlaced, or continuously looping.

The RuneScape celtic knot puzzle consists of three loops, each one a different colour and with a different sequence of up to 30 runestones. It will appear on the screen when the player attempts to open a puzzle scroll box or puzzle casket. The message at the top of the puzzle reads, "Paths interlace and intersect. May runes match where they meet," which describes the goal of the puzzle as well as its function. The arrows are used to move the runestones on a loop one space in the desired direction, and there is a button which can be hovered over to "flip" the puzzle, revealing the runestones hidden under the intersections. Once all runes are matched, which is indicated with a green circle surrounding the junctions of the loops, the knot can be "unlocked" to open the scroll box.

There are two procedures that can be undertaken here, either manually or automatically using an online tool.

The general algorithm to solve these puzzles is as follows:

  1. First choose one ring. This will be your primary ring.
  2. Choose another ring to be your secondary ring.
  3. Choose a spot where these two rings intersect to focus on. Begin by matching all possibilities of the secondary ring to the rune of the primary ring at the intersection you are focusing on.
  4. If when this intersection turns green, all other intersections of these two rings are not green, turn the first ring one spot and try again. Keep doing this until all of the intersections between the first two rings are green
  5. Lastly, turn the third ring to match the first two.
  6. If all possibilities of one intersection on this ring are tried and the puzzle is not solved, move the first ring one space and keep trying.
  7. When all intersections are green, click "Unlock" to solve the puzzle.

A more advanced but less time and click-intensive method is as follows:

  1. Choose your primary and secondary rings.
  2. Choose two intersection slots as close together as possible, where the primary and secondary rings intersect.
  3. Make note of the runes in the intersection slots on the primary ring, as well as the number of spaces between the intersections on the secondary ring (don't forget to invert paths). The spaces are counted on the secondary ring because the distance between intersections may differ between the two rings, and the secondary ring is the one that will be rotated. An example of this can be seen in the 10-intersection knot. If red is primary and grey is secondary, the red ring has three spaces between the upper intersections, while grey has only one.
  4. Look for this same pattern of runes in the secondary ring. The runes in between the intersection slots are not important. For example, if the primary ring intersections have a Law Rune and a Lava Rune, and there are two spaces between these intersections on the secondary ring, look on the secondary ring for a Law Rune, two spaces, and a Lava Rune.
  5. If there is no pattern match on the secondary ring, rotate the primary ring once.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 until all of the intersections between the primary and secondary ring are a match.
  7. Rotate the third ring until all of the intersections match.
  8. When all intersections are green, click "Unlock" to solve the puzzle.

Below are simple ways to solve the puzzles. These may not be all the types of puzzles.

6-spot intersection[edit | edit source]

  2. If the two intersections are not matching after a full rotation of the red knot, move the blue knot clockwise once.
  3. Repeat until the two intersections match.
  4. Simply move the silver knot until the remaining four intersections match.

8-spot intersection[edit | edit source]

  1. Move the red knot clockwise 16 times to match the four intersections where the red and silver knots meet. A green circle indicates a matching intersection.
  2. If all four intersections are not matching after a full rotation of the red knot, move the silver knot clockwise once.
  3. Repeat until the red and silver intersections match.
  4. Simply move the blue knot until the remaining four intersections match.

10-spot intersection[edit | edit source]

  1. Move the blue knot clockwise up to 20 times to match the six intersections where the blue and black knots meet. A green circle indicates a matching intersection.
  2. If the six intersections do not match after a full rotation of the blue knot, move the black knot clockwise once.
  3. Again move the blue knot up to 20 times until the six intersections match.
  4. Continue this process until six intersections between the blue and black knots match.
  5. Next move the yellow knot until the remaining four intersections match.

12-spot intersection[edit | edit source]

  1. Move the red knot clockwise up to 16 times to match the four intersections where the red and blue knots meet. A green circle indicates a matching intersection.
  2. If the four intersections are not matching after a full rotation of the red knot, move the blue knot clockwise once.
  3. Repeat until the four intersections match.
  4. Simply move the silver knot until the remaining eight intersections match.

14-spot intersection[edit | edit source]

  1. Move the yellow knot clockwise up to 18 times to match all the intersections where the yellow and blue meet. A green circle indicates a matching intersection.
  2. If the intersections are not matching after a full rotation of the yellow knot, move the blue knot clockwise once.
  3. Repeat until the intersections match.
  4. Simply move the black and the silver knot until the remaining intersections match.

Tips[edit | edit source]

  • Players may rotate the knots either clockwise or counter-clockwise. The direction does not matter as long as the direction is consistent.
  • If the last knot will not match, the first two knots may not be matching correctly. Try another intersection combination.
  • Players can deduce what runes can and cannot be possibilities by looking carefully at the knots and using the following three guidelines:
    • If a particular type of rune appears on only one of the three knots, that rune type cannot be a possibility for any of the intersections and can be completely eliminated altogether.
    • If a particular type of rune appears on two of the three knots, that rune is only a possibility for the intersection of the two knots it appears on, and not at any of the intersections with the knot it does not appear on.
    • If a particular type of rune appears on all three of the knots, that rune can be a possibility for any of the intersections.
  • While doing Celtic knots, the clockwise rotation may not be needed by experienced players. Always remember to use the Invert paths.

Challenge scrolls[edit | edit source]

Challenge scrolls are logical problems posed to the player by an NPC. They appear in Medium and Hard clues in Treasure Trails and have two steps to it: first the player has to find the right NPC to speak to (when they get a cryptic or anagram clue), and then they have to solve the riddle, to advance along their trail. Thus, challenge scrolls don't count as a regular clue. To complete the scroll, view the question on the scroll, then speak to the NPC which gave it to provide the answer. When the correct answer is provided the challenge is complete, and the player will receive either the next clue, or the reward. It is also possible able to obtain more than one challenge scroll by asking the NPC players got it from with a full inventory. Every time players talk to the NPC, another appears on the ground that they can pick up. However, if they already have one in their inventory or bank, they cannot pick another one up.

A compass clue can be part of an elite treasure trail. Compass clues were added to the game as part of the Treasure Trail update on 4 August 2010.

When a compass clue is clicked on, it will display an interface with an arrow that points in the direction of a spot that the player must locate. The arrow only shows the direction of the required location and not the distance to it. Therefore, the most common method for completing compass clues effectively and efficiently is triangulation. This is done by teleporting around RuneScape to gain an idea of where the location might be. For example, the player could teleport to Taverley. If the compass points west, the player should go to a location to the west of Taverley. If the compass points east, the player should go a location to the east of Taverley. Additionally, a player can tell if the distance to the correct location based on how quickly the arrow changes direction. The smaller the distance, the faster the arrow will move.

When the player is standing at the correct location, the compass's arrow will change to an 'X' symbol. When standing on the spot shown by the X, the player can dig to receive their next clue or casket. They can dig by clicking on a spade on the inventory or right-clicking the clue scroll and selecting the "Dig" option if there is a spade on the tool belt. Digging may spawn a Guthix wizard for elite clues or a cabbagemancer for master clues; however, players can avoid this by using a meerkat summoning familiar's fetch casket special move to retrieve the next clue or casket.

  • Nearly all compass locations are located on the main, outdoor layer of the world (called "Runescape Surface" in the location dropdown menu of the World Map). When in locations like a player-owned house, in Zanaris, or inside any dungeon, the compass will just spin in circles as it cannot search for a spot on a different layer.
  • There are a rare few compass spots that are located one layer higher than the rest of the world—one on the western side of the Trollweiss Hunter Area and two on the Ullek Plateau, west of Sophanem. Given that Prifddinas is also located on this layer, the compass will only function there if the clue scroll points to one of those spots.

A coordinate clue is type of clue used in the Treasure Trails Distraction and Diversion. The clue contains a set of coordinates, part of a latitude and longitude geographic coordinate system in the realm of Gielinor. The set of coordinates indicate an exact location somewhere on the surface world (never in a dungeon or in buildings), which must be dug at with a spade to continue the clue scroll.

Coordinate clues only exist in medium and hard clue scrolls. They are presented in the following format:

00 degrees 00 minutes north/south
00 degrees 00 minutes east/west

One game tile is exactly 1.875 minutes. With sixty minutes in a degree, each degree is equivalent to thirty-two squares. The location 00º00' north/south, 00º00' east/west points to the Observatory.

To solve a coordinate clue manually, a chart, sextant, and watch are required to measure exact coordinates. All of these items can be placed on the toolbelt and do not need to be in the player's inventory. If the sextant is in the player's toolbelt, the current geolocation can be obtained by right clicking the clue scroll and selecting the sextant option. Meerkats can also be used to provide sextant coordinates upon interaction.

Zamorak and Saradomin wizards[edit | edit source]

For hard clue scrolls, digging on the correct spot could potentially spawn either a Zamorak wizard or a Saradomin wizard. This enemy must be defeated before digging again and continuing the clue scroll. Saradomin wizards will only appear in non-Wilderness areas; Zamorak wizards appear only in Wilderness areas.

Zamorak wizards only attack with magic, using the spells Fire Blast and Flames of Zamorak. Saradomin wizards use both melee and magic, using the spells Air Wave and Saradomin Strike using a dragon dagger as melee. The melee attack can poison players. The wizards have no weakness so any combat style can be used to dispatch them effectively.

Using the fetch casket scroll ability with meerkats will not trigger the wizard's appearance, and the clue will instantly progress. Retrieving a clue scroll using this ability is required to complete the achievement Digging For Treasure.

A coordinate clue may require skill or quest requirements. The Grand Tree, Legends' Quest, Nature Spirit, Regicide and Watchtower quests are required to access all locations.

Cryptic clues[edit | edit source]

A cryptic clue is one of the types of clues found as part of the Treasure Trails Distraction and Diversion. As the name suggests, a cryptic clue does not directly tell the player where to go, but has a secretive message in the clue scroll which points towards a location. Solutions may involve talking to an NPC, searching an interactive object (such as a crate or bookshelf), or digging at a location.

Within medium clue scrolls, a few cryptic clues may require the player to obtain a key as a drop from a monster nearby. This key allows access to the location of the clue scroll.

Emote clues[edit | edit source]

Emote clues involve equipping certain items in a particular location and performing an emote. They were introduced to treasure trails on 5 December 2006. These types of clues are featured in all levels of clue scrolls, and most (but not all) items required for the emote clues can be obtained in shops, although using the Grand Exchange is recommended.

Once the emote has been performed, an NPC called Uri will appear and usually give the player a scroll box. If Uri is giving the player their reward rather than another clue, he will give the player a casket. If the player has been requested to do another emote before talking to Uri, and they forgot to do it, he will say, I don't believe we have any business... but will not leave. The player can then complete the second emote and finish the clue. Level 1 clues require doing one emote, level 2 clues require doing two, and level 3 and level 5 clues require doing one emote and fighting the double agent.

Many of the items asked for in these clues are obscure. The Grand Exchange is the simplest way to obtain them but often not the cheapest. As a result of demand by players doing treasure trails, most of these items have been driven up in price considerably above what they would be otherwise worth. In many cases, emote clue items may be bought from shops for considerably less money or even be made with little difficulty. Note that wearing any version of a required item different than the standard one will not work (for example, a rune platebody (t) will not work in place of a basic rune platebody).

For level 3 and level 5 clues, doing the emote will not summon Uri but instead an aggressive NPC known as the double agent, who must subsequently be killed in order for Uri to reappear. If an emote clue is the first clue given for one of these clue scrolls, there is a chance Uri will be summoned without the double agent. The player can change equipment to take out the double agent. Performing the emote again is no longer necessary as of the update released on 28 November 2016.

If frequently doing treasure trails, the items should be stored in hidey-holes, located near the relevant sites, to save time and money, rather than selling and re-buying the items. A total of 170 items are used across the five clue levels, so banking them all is arguably unfeasible.

Note: Having Hartwin as an escort seems to make this emote not work, so be prepared use other methods:
  • The Wilderness obelisk located in level 18 wilderness (players with Wilderness sword 3 and above may select this obelisk rather than have the obelisk network randomly teleport them to a location) is located just north of the Temple. It is surrounded by level 98 Abyssal demons (not aggressive).
  • Carrallanger Teleport from the Ancient magicks spellbook (requires completion of Desert Treasure) takes the player next to the Graveyard of Shadows. Run south to reach the Temple.
  • Wilderness Volcano lodestone and run east

Warning: This is a PVP area, so players can be attacked and killed here. All but three items from the inventory will be kept upon death, unless the protect item prayer is used. However, if skulled, then no items will be protected, or one will be protected if the Protect Item prayer is active.

Lockboxes[edit | edit source]

Lockboxes are one of several puzzles that can be found from Master Treasure Trails.

Players are given a filled 5x5 box of the icons of three combat styles (melee, Magic and Ranged). In order to solve the puzzle, the whole grid must be filled with only one combat style. Clicking on the combat styles will rotate between the three icons in an area of effect similar to the Flip tiles puzzle in Dungeoneering. Unlike the puzzle, the icons cannot be forced.

Players may alternatively use a lockbox-skipping ticket or its untradeable version to skip the puzzle.

Solving[edit | edit source]

  1. Solve the first four rows by clicking on the next row (so for the first row, use the second row). This means using the square directly below the one you want to change to match the pattern. It can prevent your later moves from interfering with the upper rows.
  2. When the process is complete, only the bottom row is unresolved. It should be one of the eight shown in the next section. Remember the top row of the matching diagram and use it accordingly.
  3. Solve the first four rows by clicking on the next row (with the same style used in step 1).
  4. The bottom row should be auto-solved when the fourth row is resolved, provided that step 2 is done correctly.

Solving last row[edit | edit source]

To solve the last row, certain mutations can be applied to the whole puzzle. The following table gives frequently encountered puzzles and their solution (which tiles to click how many times). Only the top row needs to be remembered, since the next rows can be derived by the method mentioned above.

Maps[edit | edit source]

Map clues include an image of the location the player needs to search to advance along their trail. Maps are found across all levels of clue scrolls. They are rough pictures of a very local area, normally about the size of Lumbridge Castle. If the map leads to an X, the player needs to take a spade to the place indicated on the map with the X and dig there. The spade on a tool belt will work, contrary to popular belief, as right-clicking on the scroll gives a "dig" option. The spade is available on the tool belt by default for newly created accounts. If the map leads to a crate, it must be searched. Sometimes players may find a small pile of crates or a multitude of them. Search all of them until the next clue or the reward is found. Maps can include landmarks, such as buildings, fish to indicate fishing spots, roads, rivers, bridges, and other things. Map clues are not easy to do without help. Players will often find that they simply have no clue where the map is pointing to. A player can try to compare the maps to the world map, and they match up very well, but the area to compare is vast. It is easier to use the list below.

Digging in the location pointed to by a map clue will never produce a Saradomin or Zamorak Mage, even for master clue scrolls.

Map clues that take a player to the Wilderness (only on Hard clue scrolls) have a far lower chance of appearing. This is due to the Wilderness and Free Trade Vote.

Puzzle boxes[edit | edit source]

When speaking to an NPC in a level 3 or 4 trail, the player may receive a puzzle box. Puzzle boxes are 'step two' of a clue: first the player has to find the right NPC to speak to (when they get a cryptic or anagram clue), and then they have to solve the puzzle, to advance along their trail.

Puzzle boxes are the RuneScape version of n-puzzles – they contain a scrambled image that players must work to unscramble by clicking on tiles to move them to an empty space. Once the puzzle box is completed, players will need to talk to the NPC who gave the puzzle to receive the next clue or the reward.

Many people find puzzle boxes daunting, but taken from the right approach they can be simple and quite fun. The game scrambles the puzzles by randomly moving pieces approximately 50 - 200 times.

If the player logs out, without finishing the puzzle, they will lose all progress and will have to start over again. However, if the puzzle box belongs to an elite clue, they will be unable to ask for another one, and must either complete the puzzle or drop the puzzle scroll box/casket.

Solution[edit | edit source]

The steps to solve a puzzle box the most efficient way without messing up the already-completed tiles.

To solve the puzzle, (refer to the picture to the right)

  1. Begin by arranging from left to right, the first section (red) so that it matches the solution.
  2. Repeat step one with the second section (orange).
  3. Repeat the process for the third section (yellow).
  4. Correctly arrange the two tiles located in the fourth section (green).
  5. Repeat the process as in step four for the fifth section (blue).
  6. Lastly, arrange the last six tiles in the sixth section (purple).
  7. When all of the tiles match the solution exactly, exit the interface to complete the puzzle.

Note: After a step is completed, DO NOT re-arrange any tiles in the previous step; just work with what you have.

Scans are a type of Treasure Trail clue that can only occur during elite and master clue scrolls. The first batch of scans came to the game as part of the Treasure Trail update on 4 August 2010, while the second batch came to the game as part of the clue scroll overhaul on 26 February 2018. They can be distinguished from other types of clues by the orb attached to the clue scroll. Scan clues require going to a particular region and scanning in order to find the next clue (or the casket).

Some scans may be found in multiple levels; so far to date, only Dorgesh-Kaan and Brimhaven Dungeon have scans which can be found on multiple levels. All locations are considered to be on ground floor. If the location has multiple levels and the scan says "Try scanning another level.", then the scan is located on a different level.

To start the clue, players must first right-click the scroll and select the "Read" option to find out which region they must search in. They must then go to this region and open the scroll's "Scan" interface to automatically scan the region for the correct spot. Upon starting the scan, a blue pulse appear around the player and continually emit pulses.

This blue pulse is extremely helpful for finding the scan's dig spot. They are not affected by elevation difference in the case of Dorgesh-Kaan and Brimhaven Dungeon. They have three stages:

  • Low ping (stage 1) - the pulse emits very slowly. Occurs when the player is very far from the scan spot (double + 1 pace away from the spot)
  • Medium ping (stage 2) - the pulse starts to emit faster (two pings). Occurs when the player is at least double the scan range from the spot. (e.g 28 paces away when the scan covers 14 paces)
  • High ping (stage 3) - the pulse emits very fast pings. Occurs when the player is within range of the scan range of the spot.

Using the meerkat familiar will increase the scan range of all scans by 5.

When the player is standing next to or on the exact spot indicated by the arrow they can use a spade to dig up the next clue or casket (a spade on the tool belt can be used by right-clicking Dig on the clue scroll). Alternatively a Meerkat familiar's fetch casket special move can be used.

When manually digging up the clue, there is a chance for a wizard to appear and attack the player. The wizards are fairly easy to dispatch with sufficient combat gear, but if the player does not wish to fight them, then using the Meerkat familiar's fetch casket scroll will completely bypass any potential fights.

On 10 July 2017, the Chaos Tunnels were removed as a potential new scan location. However, any existing Chaos Tunnel scan clues remain until they are solved.

To enter the dungeon players will need 875 coins unless they own Karamja gloves 3 or 4 (to gain free access to the dungeon it is not necessary to have the gloves with you). A hatchet is also needed to cut through the obstructing vines within the dungeon (a hatchet on the tool belt will work). Scans will either be on the upper or lower level of Brimhaven Dungeon, if the player is not on the right level for their scan they will be told "Try scanning another level". Players may also find Map:Brimhaven Dungeon showing the dungeon's monsters, useful.
