Power Behind the Throne
Before studying
Field Study: I have yet to find any information on this.

After studying
Field Study: The mechanism that was discovered in the side of Bandos's throne likely unlocks something nearby. Perhaps the research team can figure out how it works.

Report: I need to get my team to do some further research.

After researching
Field Study: The mechanism that was discovered in the side of Bandos's throne likely unlocks something nearby. Perhaps the research team can figure out how it works.

Report: The research team believe that placing a 'Forged in War' Kyzaj sculpture into the recess on the side of Bandos's throne will unlock something nearby...

Throne[edit | edit source]

Interacting with Bandos's throne[edit | edit source]

Without 'Forged in War' sculpture[edit | edit source]

  • Player: My research team suggested if I placed a restored 'Forged in War' Kyzaj sculpture in here that it would unlock something nearby...

With 'Forged in War' sculpture[edit | edit source]

  • Player: I see it now, this Kyzaj statue I'm carrying would fit in the recess in the throne's side.
  • Place 'Forged in War' Kyzaj sculpture in throne?
    • Yes.
      • Player places the sculture in the throne.
      • You hear a click from behind the throne as if something unlocked.
      • Player: Huh, part of the wall behind the throne just shifted...
    • No.
      • Player: Maybe I'll try that later, though.

Pressing hidden switch[edit | edit source]

  • Player is thrown back
  • Bandos: Chosen only!
  • Player: Was that Bandos? Either way, I guess it's 'chosen only'?

Pressing hidden switch again[edit | edit source]

  • Player: I'm not touching that again - it said 'chosen only' and I guess that doesn't mean me. Maybe Zanik can help...

Zanik[edit | edit source]

Before completing the research[edit | edit source]

  • Player: There's a huge throne down in the Crucible. My guess is it used to be used by Bandos, but I'll get my research team to take look.
  • Zanik: It would not surprise me. Let me know what your team discover.

After completing the research and before interacting with the walls[edit | edit source]

  • Player: The research is in on that throne. The team found a small recess on one of the sides, in which they think a small Kyzaj icon or statue could be placed.
  • Zanik: Hmm, some of the arcaheologists here have reported finding remnants of something like that on this site. I am not sure where you might find a restorable artefact of one, though.

After interacting with the walls[edit | edit source]

First time[edit | edit source]

  • Player: I think the throne unlocked some false walls behind it, but when I tried to open them, I got knocked off my feet and I heard Bandos.
  • Zanik: You cannot have! He is dead! Surely, he did not come back again somehow... No, it must have been some sort of magical trap. What did he say?
  • Player: The voice said 'chosen only'. Could that mean the doors would open for you? You are...or were...the Chosen Commander.
  • Zanik: I am not sure how it could mean me. I was born a long time after this place was dead and buried. Unless you find evidence below to suggest otherwise.
  • Player: I found a journal entry from a Dorgeshuun Crucible Champion. In it, they mention a private sanctum behind the throne.
  • Zanik: How does that help?
  • Player: Well, I figured maybe because they could go there and they were a Dorgeshuun goblin, you might also be able to. I found a journal entry from a goblin named Zealheart - apparently, it seems like she was the first chosen of Bandos!
  • Zanik: Oh!
  • Player: Could she have been an ancestor? Perhaps the status was passed down through your bloodline?
  • Zanik: I have read through those Zealheart journals. She was Dorgesh, because first Chosen, no doubt had children who were also sent to the Warforge. At some point later on the Dorgeshuun rebelled, and some generation later I was born. It would explain why Bandos chose me. Okay, you have convinced me. I think I can help with this door. There is just one more thing first - I am going to need a restored Dorgeshuun spear, if that is okay.

Afterwards[edit | edit source]

  • Zanik: I am ready to help you with this hidden door, but there's something I need first, if that is okay?
  • Player: What's that?
  • Zanik: The archaeologists on the site tell me there are old Dorgeshuun spears to be restored. It is not just for personal reasons; I think I might need one to open those doors.
  • (If you don't have a Dorgeshuun spear:)
    • Player: If I find and restore a Dorgeshuun spear, I'll bring you one.
  • (If you have a Dorgeshuun spear:)
    • GIVE ZANIK A RESTORED DORGESHUUN SPEAR?
      • Yes.
        • The spear is removed from player's backpack.
        • Zanik: Thank you! I am ready whenever! Just ask me when you are ready too.
      • No.
        • Player: Let me get back to you on this. I might need this spear for something else.

Talking to Zanik again[edit | edit source]

  • Zanik: Shall we do this?
  • GO WITH ZANIK TO OPEN THE SANCTUM DOORS?
    • Yes.
      • Camera fades out, and a cutscene starts.
      • Zanik: Here goes nothing...
      • Zanik: There is something here!
      • Zanik: And...
      • Bandos: You may enter, Chosen of Bandos!
      • Zanik: Ow! It drew blood!
      • Wall crumbles, and the cutscene ends, and the player is back on the surface next to Zanik.
      • Congratulations! You have completed 'You Have Chosen...' - Solve this mystery.
      • You gain 37,000 Archaeology XP for completing a mystery!
    • No.
      • Player: Not just yet. Maybe later.

After solving the mystery[edit | edit source]

  • Zanik: Thank you for all you have done here. You have connected me with my past, with my ancestor Zealheart.
  • Zanik: I find some comfort in knowing that even the first Chosen Commander rebelled against Bandos in her own way.
  • Player: Happy to have helped.
