Studying Theoretical blueprints[edit | edit source]

  • NEW Research Available: 'Howling Man'.

Howling Man[edit | edit source]

The following text is transcluded from Transcript:Howling Man.

Howling Man
Before studying
Field Study: I have yet to find any information on this.

After studying
Field Study: An alchemical laboratory sits floating higher than other remaining sections of Stormguard, filled with all kinds of arcane and mystical devices we don't understand.

Report: I need to get my team to do some further research.

After researching
Field Study: An alchemical laboratory sits floating higher than other remaining sections of Stormguard, filled with all kinds of arcane and mystical devices we don't understand.

Report: According to various blueprints and notebooks, this laboratory was home to an aviansie alchemist who went by the codename 'Howl' (likely to protect his true identity). His works are far ahead of other technology we have dug up from the Third Age, and his ideas well ahead of their time.

Deciphering blueprints before Back to the Drawing Board is completed[edit | edit source]

  • Player: I can't make head nor tail feathers of these theoretical blueprints! They're written in an unfamiliar cipher and the images depicted it are very complex and strange...[sic]

Deciphering blueprints after Back to the Drawing Board is completed[edit | edit source]

At least one blueprint undiscovered[edit | edit source]

  • Player goes through several emotes, including Think, deciphering the blueprints.
  • Player: Hold up, I think I can understand these now, thanks to my research team cracking Howl's cipher! These designs are massively ahead of their time, but I think I can finally realise some of these devices!
  • Study which blueprint?
    • (If Experimental Aether Reactor hasn't been studied before:)
      • Experimental Aether Reactor (relic).
        • Player: This blueprint appears to be a device that can divert a portion of expended energy back into my reserves. It looks like Howl was close with this one - it has a chuluu stone at its core, but I could substitute in some modern components for a housing and attune it to my charge pack.
        • Player goes through several emotes describing discovering the concept.
        • Player: Eureka!
        • You've discovered a new invention to manufacture in Howl's workshop: Experimental Aether Reactor!
    • (If golem framework hasn't been studied before:)
      • Golem framework (relic component).
        • Player: This blueprint appears to be a device that can house specific programmed functions of a golem in a portable format. They wouldn't be conscious or aware, but it's a way to rescue the partial personality of a golem that has otherwise been destroyed. Hmm, I think I could use this to save part of Cres's personality, if I manufacture this housing and take it to a Guthixian cache!
        • Player goes through several emotes describing discovering the concept.
        • Player: Eureka!
        • You've discovered a new invention to manufacture in Howl's workshop: golem framework!
    • (If Subtle Blade hasn't been studied before:)
      • Subtle Blade (relic).
        • Player: This blueprint appears to be a device that...wait, could cut through the fabric of reality? That sounds dangerous. It references a mythological weapon that could already do this, but cuts too deep, and this device was a way of making it safer by limiting how deeply it could cut. Thanks to my World Guardian status, I think this is talking about Guthix's sword. I could use one of the smaller fragments from his shrine to forge a much smaller dagger, which should be safe to use and would allow me to teleport around with ease!
        • Player goes through several emotes describing discovering the concept.
        • Player: Eureka!
        • You've discovered a new invention to manufacture in Howl's workshop: Subtle Blade!
    • Cancel.
      • (Dialogue ends)

All blueprints discovered[edit | edit source]

  • Player: I've already learned all I can from these theoretical blueprints.
