Talking to Radimus Erkle[edit | edit source]

  • Radimus Erkle: Good day to you [Sir/Madam]! No doubt you are keen to become a member of the Legends Guild?
  • Select an option
    • Yes actually, what's involved?
      • Player: Yes actually, what's involved?
      • Radimus Erkle: Well, you need to complete a quest for us. You need to map an area called the Kharazi Jungle. It is the unexplored southern part of Karamja Island. You also need to befriend a native from the Kharazi tribe in order to get a gift or token of friendship. We want to display it in the Legends Guild Main hall. Are you interested in this quest?
      • (Quest Overview interface opens.)
        • Not Right Now
          • Player: Not just at the moment.
          • Radimus Erkle: Very well, if you change your mind, please come back and see me.
        • Accept Quest
          • Player: Yes, it sounds great!
          • Radimus Erkle: Excellent! Ok, you'll need this starting map of the Kharazi Jungle.
          • Grand Vizier Erkle gives you some notes and a map.
          • Player receives Radimus notes.
          • Radimus Erkle: Complete this map when you get to the Kharazi Jungle. It's towards the southern most part of Karamja. You'll need additional papyrus and charcoal to complete the map. There are three different sectors of the Kharazi Jungle to map.
          • Radimus shuffles around the back of his desk. He gives you a stern look.
          • Radimus Erkle: It is likely to be very tough going. You'll need a hatchet and machete to cut through the dense Kharazi Jungle. Collect a machete from the cupboard before you leave. You'll need to find your own hatchet, preferably a good one. Finally, we really do need some sort of display item for the Guild hall. Bring back some sort of token which we can display in the Guild. And very good luck to you!
    • Maybe some other time.
      • Player: Maybe some other time.
      • Radimus Erkle: Ok, as you wish...
    • Who are you?
      • Player: Who are you?
      • Radimus Erkle: My name is Radimus Erkle, I am the Grand Vizier of the Legends Guild. Are you interested in becoming a member?
      • (Shows the other options.)

Talking to Radimus Erkle after accepting the quest[edit | edit source]

  • Radimus Erkle: Hello there, how is the quest going?
  • Select an option
    • It's ok, but I have forgotten what to do.
      • Player: It's ok, but I have forgotten what to do.
      • Radimus Erkle: Tut! How forgetful! You need to find a way into the Kharazi Jungle. Then you need to explore and map that entire area. While you're there you need to make contact with any jungle natives. Bring back a tribal gift from the natives so that we can display it in the Legends Guild. I hope that answers your question!
      • (Shows the previous options.)
    • I need another machete.
      • Player: I need another machete.
      • Radimus Erkle: Well, just get another one from the cupboard.
      • (Shows the previous options.)
    • I've run out of charcoal.
      • Player: I've run out of charcoal.
      • Radimus Erkle: Well, get some more! Be proactive and get some more from somewhere.
      • Sir Radimus mutters under his breath.
      • Radimus Erkle: It's hardly legendary if you fail a quest because you can't find some charcoal!
      • (Shows the previous options.)
    • I've run out of papyrus.
      • Player: I've run out of papyrus.
      • Radimus Erkle: Well, get some more! Be proactive and try to find some!

    • I've completed the quest.
      • Player: I've completed the quest.
      • Radimus Erkle: Well, if you have, show me the gift the Kharazi people gave you! Becoming a legend is more than just fighting you know. It also requires some careful diplomacy and problem solving. Also complete the map of Kharazi Jungle and we will admit you to the Guild.
      • (Shows the previous options.)

Map the Kharazi Jungle (Southern end of Karamja), there are three main areas that need to be mapped.
Try to meet up with the local friendly natives. Some are not so friendly so be careful.
See if you can get a trophy or native jungle item from the natives to display in the Legends Guild. You may be given a task or test to earn this.
        * Note - You may need to get help from other people near the jungle, for example, the local woodsmen may have some knowledge of the Jungle area.
    • Start Mapping Kharazi Jungle.
      • You're not even in the Kharazi Jungle yet. You need to get to the Southern end of Karamja before you can start mapping.

Entering the Legends' Guild grounds after accepting the quest[edit | edit source]

Using any other item on Radimus Erkle[edit | edit source]

Using the Radimus notes on Radimus Erkle[edit | edit source]

If the Kharazi Jungle hasn't been fully mapped[edit | edit source]

  • Radimus Erkle: Well done, [sir/madam], very well done. However, you'll probably need it while you search for natives of the Kharazi tribe in the Kharazi Jungle. Remember, we would like a special token of friendship from them to place in the Legends' Guild. I'll take the map off your hands once we get the proof that you have met the natives.

If the Kharazi Jungle has been fully mapped[edit | edit source]

  • Radimus Erkle: It's very nice, bwana, but we also need something special to display in the Legends' Guild.

Using the gilded totem on Radimus Erkle if Kharazi Jungle hasn't been fully mapped[edit | edit source]

  • Radimus Erkle: It's very nice, bwana, but I need you to complete the map as well.

      • Player: How do I get into the Kharazi Jungle?
      • Jungle forester: Well, I've not managed it yet but I heard that someone managed to find a way in. But they only just managed to escape the jungle with their lives. Apparently he was on a mission to map the area. How foolish is that?
      • Select an option
        • Well, in fact I plan to map that area myself.
          • Player: Well, in fact I plan to map that area myself.
          • Jungle forester: --The forester looks very interested--
Oh, well, that sounds quite good actually... Sorry if I sounded rude before, it just didn't seem like a good idea to me. I guess I just wouldn't want to do it myself. But a map of that area would certainly be a big task. And it would certainly be very useful...
-- The forester looks very thoughtful --
Hey, if you manage to complete it, be sure to let me take a look! Well, best of luck with it, I'm sure you're going to need it.
          • Select an option
            • Do you have any other tips about the Kharazi Jungle?
              • Player: Do you have any other tips about the Kharazi Jungle?
              • Jungle forester: Not really, but I would say be careful, it's a dangerous place. And good luck.

              • (Same as below.)
            • Ok thanks.

    • What do you do here?
      • Player: What do you do here?
      • Jungle forester: I'm a forester, and I specialise in exotic woods. I've not managed to penetrate the Kharazi Jungle very far but I have found some interesting tree specimens. If you do happen to get into the Kharazi Jungle, do come and let me know. I'd love to be able to safely navigate my own way in and out.

    • Yes, go ahead make a copy!
      • Player: Yes, go ahead make a copy!
      • Jungle forester: Many thanks friend.

      • Jungle forester: Many thanks friend.
      • He takes out a strange looking object and hands it to you.
      • Jungle forester: Here, I won't be needing this any longer, and it may help you. Whenever I've used it before, it attracted the attention of jungle natives.
      • Player receives bull roarer.
    • What will you give me in return?
      • Player: What will you give me in return?
      • Jungle forester: Well, I can offer you this?

      • Jungle forester: If you swing this above your head, it makes a strange sound. I noticed that it attracts the attention of the natives. Is it a deal? Can I make a copy of your map?

  • You feel a bit silly at first, but soon it makes an interesting sound.
  • Nothing much seems to happen though.

North of the Kharazi Jungle[edit | edit source]

  • You start to swing the bullroarer above your head.

Swinging the Bull roarer within the Kharazi Jungle[edit | edit source]

Whilst in combat[edit | edit source]

  • You can't use this emote while under attack.

Near a jungle dweller, wolf or Oomlie bird[edit | edit source]

  • You start to swing the bullroarer above your head.
  • You feel a bit silly at first, but soon it makes an interesting sound.
  • A nearby [Jungle Dweller/Jungle Wolf/Oomlie Bird] takes a dislike to the noise you're making.
  • The player is attacked.

If Guojo is not yet present[edit | edit source]

  • You start to swing the bullroarer above your head.
  • You feel a bit silly at first, but soon it makes an interesting sound.
  • You see some movement in the trees...
  • ... and a tall, dark, charismatic looking native approaches you.
  • Gujuo approaches.
  • Gujuo: Greetings Bwana... Why do you make such strange sounds and disturb the peace of the jungle?
  • Select an option
    • I was hoping to attract the attention of a native.
      • Player: I was hoping to attract the attention of a native.
      • Gujuo: Well, it had the desired effect... I am Gujuo, proud member of the Kharazi tribe. What did you want to talk about Bwana?
      • Select an option
        • I want to develop friendly relations with your people.
          • Player: I want to develop friendly relations with your people.
          • Gujuo smiles and shakes your hand warmly...

          • Select an option
            • Can you get your people together?
              • Player: Can you get your people together?
              • Gujuo: All of my people normally congregate around a totem pole. But ours has been polluted by an evil spirit. It has been transformed, and now our people are afraid to approach it. We tried to drive the evil spirit out of the totem pole, but it does not seem to work.

                  • Gujuo: We could try to make a new totem pole. However, we need to make it from the trunk of the sacred Yommi tree.
                  • Select an option
                    • How do we make the totem pole?
                      • Player: How do we make a totem pole?
                      • Gujuo: First we need to plant a sacred Yommi tree. It is a magical tree of great power, however, our Shaman 'Ungadulu' is the only person with the seeds for this tree.
                      • Gujuo's expression changes to sadness...
                      • Gujuo: And I fear that it is impossible to get some seeds. He is being held against his will in some caves in the north western part of the Kharazi Jungle.
                      • Select an option
                        • I will release Ungadulu...

                          • Gujuo: You make me very happy Bwana! In the north western part of the Kharazi Jungle area, near some great cliffs, you will find three rocks that form a roughly triangular shape. They are flanked by the palm which also forms the divine geometry. The stones are the entrance, search them well. That's where you'll find Ungadulu. If you can free him he will entrust you with some sacred Yommi tree seeds. I have work to do Bwana. I may see you again.
                          • Gujuo disappears into the Kharazi Jungle as swiftly as he appeared...
                        • Oh well, sorry to hear about that.
                          • Player: Oh well, sorry to hear about that.
                          • Gujuo's expression of sadness deepens...
                          • Gujuo: Yes Bwana, perhaps we will become friends sometime in the future... But not today... Ungadulu has problably lost his mind anyway... It is most likely a lost cause...

                              • Gujuo: The mosquitos bite me, bwana! I must go for a swim.
                            • What's in it for me if I release Ungadulu?
                              • Player: What's in it for me if I release Ungadulu?
                              • Gujuo's brow furrows...
                              • Gujuo: We would be very grateful and would be pleased to develop friendly relations with you. Do this thing for us all, my people would be very happy.

                                  • (Same as below.)

        • Sorry, it was a mistake?
          • (Same as below.)
    • Sorry, it was a mistake?
      • Player: Sorry, it was a mistake?
      • Gujuo: Very good Bwana... however, it begs the question... What are you doing in the Kharazi Jungle?
      • Select an option
        • I want to develop friendly relations with your people.
          • (Same as above.)
        • I'm lost, can you show me the way out?
          • Player: I'm lost, can you show me the way out?
          • Gujuo: Yes Bwana. I can take you to the edge of the Kharazi Jungle. Would you like me to take you?
          • Select an option
            • Yes please...
              • Player: Yes Please...[sic]
              • Gujuo: Follow me...
              • Gujuo takes you out of the jungle...
              • The player appears north of the Kharazi Jungle.
            • No thanks...
              • Player: No thanks...
              • Gujuo: As you wish... Again, Bwana, What is it that brings you to the Kharazi Jungle?
              • (Shows the previous-to-previous options.)

If Guojo is already present[edit | edit source]

  • You start to swing the bullroarer above your head.
  • You feel a bit silly at first, but soon it makes an interesting sound.
  • You see some movement in the trees...
  • ... and a tall, dark, charismatic looking native approaches you.

Talking to Gujuo after agreeing to free Ungadulu[edit | edit source]

  • Gujuo: How goes your quest to release Ungadulu Bwana?
  • Select an option
    • I can't find the caves...
      • Player: I can't find the caves...
      • Gujuo: Well, they were still there the last time I checked... Go as far to the west in the Kharazi Jungle as you can, until you reach the sea, then walk eastwards with the barrier rocks to the north. Walk past the covered pass and you'll find some rocks on slightly elevated ground. You'll find the caves there.
    • Ok thanks for your help.
      • Player: Ok thanks for your help.
      • Gujuo: You are more than welcome bwana... I have to collect herbs now, Bwana.
      • Gujuo disappears into the Kharazi Jungle as swiftly as he appeared...

Freeing Ungadulu[edit | edit source]

Searching rocks or mossy rocks[edit | edit source]

  • (Before agreeing to help Ungadulu or the first time after agreeing to:)
    • You search the rocks but you see nothing significant...
    • (Continues below.)
  • (If this is the first time searching the rocks after agreeing to free Ungadulu:)
    • ...at first.
    • (Continues below.)
  • You see that there is a small crevice that you may be able to crawl through. Would you like to try to crawl through, it looks quite an enclosed area?
  • Crawl into hole?
    • Yes, I'll crawl through, I'm very athletic.
    • You try to crawl through.
    • You contort your body to fit the crevice.
    • (If successful:)
      • You adroitly squeeze, serpent-like, into the crevice.
      • You find a small narrow tunnel that goes for some distance.
      • After some time, you find a small cave opening...and walk through.
    • (If unsuccessful:)
      • You get cramped into a tiny space and start to suffocate.
      • You wriggle and wriggle but you cannot get out.
      • Eventually you manage to break free.
      • But you scrape yourself very badly as you force your way out.
      • ... and you're totally exhausted from the experience.
      • The player is damaged
    • No, I'm pretty scared of enclosed areas.
      • You decide against forcing yourself into the tiny crevice. And realise that you have much better things to do. Like visit inns and mine ore.

Looking at the table[edit | edit source]

  • A crudely constructed makeshift table made from various pieces of wood. You see a piece of screwed up paper on the table top.

Searching the table[edit | edit source]

  • You start searching the table...
  • Player receives a scribbled note.
  • You find a scrap of paper with what looks like nonsense written on it.

Reading a scribbled note[edit | edit source]

  • You try your best to decode the writing.
This is what you make out...
  • I fear that the spirit of an ancient one resides within me and uses me... I am too weak to cast the curse myself and fight the beast within.
  • Day 3 ...my last hope is that someone will read this and aid me... I am undone and I fear....
  • The writing trails off at this point.

Looking at the crate[edit | edit source]

  • It looks like a rickety old crate, perhaps placed in this recess to hide it from prying eyes.

Searching the bed[edit | edit source]

  • You search the flea infested rags...
  • Player receives scrumpled note.
  • You find a scrap of paper with spidery writing on it.

Reading the scrumpled note[edit | edit source]

  • You try your best to decode the writing.
This is what you make out...
  • Day 4 ... These days come so fleetingly, I have no idea how long I have been here now... Day 5... A wizened charm will release me, but never magic that would harm...

Searching the crate[edit | edit source]

  • You search the crate.
  • Player receives scrawled note.
  • After some time you find a scrumpled up piece of paper. It looks like rubbish.

Reading the scrawled notes[edit | edit source]

  • You try your best to decode the writing.
This is what you make out...
  • Daily notes of Ungadulu... Day 1... I have prepared the incantations and will invoke the spirits of my ancestors and pay them homage.
  • Though I feel a strange presence in these caves, it is with the heart of the lion that I fight my fears and mark the magical octagram.
  • Day 2... What have I done? My spirit is overthrown by feelings of fear and evil, I am not myself these days and feel helpless and weak. From my teachings...
  • The writing trails off at this point.

Attempting to attack Ungadulu[edit | edit source]

  • You feel certain that your weapon would melt if you tried to attack through these magical flames.

Touching a fire wall[edit | edit source]

  • You approach the supernatural flames.
  • The flames give off an incredibly intense heat.
  • (If the player gets burnt:)
    • You get too close and the intense heat burns you!
    • Player: Owwwww!
    • The player is damaged.
  • (If the player doesn't get burnt:)
    • The heat is intense and just before you burn yourself you pull yourself away from the flames.
    • Player: Whew!

Investigating a fire wall[edit | edit source]

  • You look closely at the flames. They seem to form a straight wall. Something about them looks very strange: they look completely supernatural. For example, they seem to come straight out of the ground.
  • Player: Mmmm, pretty!
  • You see a white clad figure in the midst of the flames...
  • You see the white robed figure inside the flaming octagram gesturing to you.
  • Ungadulu: Please come no closer... the flames will incinerate you.
  • Select an option
    • How can I extinguish the flames?
      • Player: How can I extinguish the flames?
      • Ungadulu: Please don't try to extinguish...
      • Ungadulu [possessed]: Yes, douse the flames with water, pure water... foo...
      • Ungadulu: Please, leave now... don't listen to me... I beg you, leave don't touch the flames...
      • Select an option
        • Where do I get pure water from?
          • (Same as below.)
        • Who are you?
          • (Same as below.)
    • Who are you?
      • Player: Who are you?
      • Ungadulu: I am Ungadulu, trapped here many years now... Leave these caves and save yourself...
      • Ungadulu [possessed]: Wait... get pure water from the pool... above lands...
      • Ungadulu: Please Bwana, don't listen to me... run, save yourself...
      • Select an option
        • How can I extinguish the flames?
          • (Same as above.)
        • Where do I get pure water from?
          • Player: Where do I get pure water from?
          • Ungadulu: Please, leave now...
          • Ungadulu [possessed]: ...from the above lands... hurry and release me...
          • Ungadulu: Leave here, please, go... now...
          • Ungadulu [possessed]: Hurry, Vacu, the heat kills me... ha ha ha
          • The Shaman throws himself down on the floor and starts convulsing.

  • Select an option
    • Ungadulu looks a little strange.

            • How did they summon the spirits?
              • Player: How did they summon the spirits?
              • Gujuo: I am unlearned in such matters. But I am told of sacred patterns that are scored on the ground to bind the spirit and confine it... But that is all I know.

          • (Same as below.)
    • I'm not sure what to do.
      • Player: I'm not sure what to do.
      • Gujuo: I am at a loss as well Bwana. At this time Ungadulu is the only one who might know of a solution for this puzzle and at this time, he is part of that same puzzle.

    • I need some pure water to douse some magic flames.
      • Player: I need some pure water to douse some magic flames.
      • Gujuo: This sounds very strange Bwana... but maybe I can help. There is a pool of water that is sacred to us. It is located in the middle of the Kharazi Jungle. The water contains special properties but it can only be contained in a blessed vessel made from metal of the sun. The water is difficult to get to, but I am sure you will manage to claim some.

        • Metal of the sun, what is that?
          • Player: Metal of the sun, what is that?
          • Gujuo: It is a bright and precious metal that is much sought after, though uncommonly found. It is the same glorious colour as the sun and it never loses its wondrous lustre. A blessed vessel made of this metal protects the purity of the water.

          • Gujuo: A vessel made of sun metal, but it can be of any shape. However, it must be blessed.
          • Gujuo takes out a small scroll and some charcoal and draws a rough sketch. When he has finished, he gives the sketch to you.
          • Gujuo: Here, have this as an example... I pray that it will help you.

      • Player: Ungadulu called me 'Vacu', what does that mean?
      • Gujuo shakes his head slightly in sadness.
      • Gujuo: It seems that Ungadulu has started to lose his senses. In our native and ancient history, the 'Vacu' were the servants of the evil spirits from the underworld. The 'Vacu' were priests who summoned the spirits of our ancestors. But the priests were enslaved by the evil spirits of the underworld. It is but a myth, perhaps a story told to scare badly behaved children.

      • Gujuo: You are more than welcome bwana...
      • Gujuo disappears into the Kharazi Jungle as swiftly as he appeared...
      • Gujuo: I have to collect herbs now, Bwana.

Looking at the sketch[edit | edit source]

  • This is a crudely drawn picture of some kind of vessel, it looks vaguely bowl shaped - this is what Gujuo was referring to when he said that you needed to make a vessel made from the metal of the sun.

The Viyeldi Caves[edit | edit source]

Looking at the north-eastern bookcase[edit | edit source]

  • This bamboo book shelf doesn't house many books, it doesn't look as if the Shaman has much opportunity to read at the moment in any case.

Searching the north-eastern bookcase[edit | edit source]

  • You search the bookcase, it looks fairly old... After a while you notice that there is a small crevice in the back. You might just be able to force your way through if you were in any way athletic.
  • Would you like to squeeze into this crevice?
    • Yes please!
      • You successfully squeeze through the crevice into a small tunnel.
    • No thanks!
      • You decide not to squeeze yourself into that ridiculously small crevice.

Opening the first ancient gate[edit | edit source]

  • You push on the doors, they're really shut. It looks like the doors have a huge locking mechanism. Although ancient, it looks very sophisticated.

Searching the first ancient gate[edit | edit source]

  • You attempt to pick the lock...
  • It looks very sophisticated...
  • Player: Hmmm, interesting...
  • You carefully insert your lockpick into the lock.
  • Player: This will be a challenge.
  • You feel for the pins and levers in the mechanism.
  • Player: Easy does it...
  • CLICK!
  • Player: Easy as pie...
  • You tumble the lock mechanism and the door opens easily.
  • The player walks through the ancient gate.

Smashing a boulder to bits[edit | edit source]

  • You manage to smash the rock to bits.
  • (If the player has backpack space:)
  • Another boulder drops down behind you.

Opening the second ancient gate[edit | edit source]

  • Two huge metal doors bar the way further... There is an intense and unpleasant feeling from this place and as you peer through the cracks in the door you can see why. You see dark, shadowy shapes flapping around in the still dark air.
  • You push the doors... They're quite stiff... They won't budge with a normal push. Do you want to try to force them open with brute strength?
  • Use brute strength on the gates?
    • Yes, I'm very strong, I'll force them open.
      • You ripple your muscles and prepare to exert yourself...
      • Player: Hup!
      • You start to force the doors open...
      • Player: Urghhhhh!
      • You brace yourself against the doors...
      • Player: Arghhhhhhh!
      • You push and push...
      • Player: Shhhhhhhshshehshsh
      • ...and you just manage to force the doors open slightly, just enough to force yourself through.
    • No, I'm having second thoughts.
      • You decide against forcing the doors.

Looking at the jagged wall[edit | edit source]

  • It looks like this room was once sealed, but the top wall fell down. If you're feeling particularly agile, you could try jumping over it.

Jumping over the jagged wall[edit | edit source]

  • You prepare to jump over the crumbly wall.
  • You take a good run up and sail majestically over the wall.
  • You land perfectly and stand ready for action.

Using the marked wall[edit | edit source]

  • You see no way to use that....
  • Perhaps you should search it?

Searching the marked wall[edit | edit source]

  • You search the wall.
  • You find five slightly round depressions and some strange markings. There is a lot of dirt and mould growing over the markings, but you clear it out. After a while you manage to see that it is some form of message. Would you like to read it?
  • Read message on wall?
    • Yes, I'll read it.
      • 'Place the five in order to pass or your life will dwindle until the last. All five are stones of magical power, Place them wrong and your fate will sour.''First is the spirit of man or beast, Second is the place where thoughts are born, Third is the soil from which good things grow Four and five are the rules all men should know.''All put together make the word of a basic sense. And from perspective help make maps from indifference.'
    • No, I won't read it.
      • You decide against reading the message.

Using a soul rune on the marked wall[edit | edit source]

  • Player has soul rune removed from them.
  • You slide the Soul Rune into the first depression... It glows slightly and then merges with the wall. The letter 'S' appears where the Soul Rune merged with the wall.

Using a mind rune on the marked wall[edit | edit source]

  • Player has mind rune removed from them.
  • You slide the Mind Rune into the second depression... It glows slightly and then merges with the wall. The letter 'M' appears where the Mind Rune merged with the wall.

Using a earth rune on the marked wall[edit | edit source]

  • Player has earth rune removed from them.
  • You slide the Earth Rune into the third depression... It glows slightly and then merges with the wall. The letter 'E' appears where the Earth Rune merged with the wall.

Using a law rune on the marked wall[edit | edit source]

  • Player has law rune removed from them.
  • You slide the Law Rune into the fourth depression... It glows slightly and then merges with the wall. The letter 'L' appears where the Law Rune merged with the wall.

Using another law rune on the marked wall[edit | edit source]

  • Player has law rune removed from them.
  • You slide the Law Rune into the fifth depression... It glows slightly and then merges with the wall. The letter 'L' appears where the Law Rune merged with the wall.
  • You see a small door outline starting to form in the wall. Slowly a well formed door handle starts to emerge, suddenly, the door cracks open. Would you like to go through?
  • Select an option
    • Yes, I'll go through!
    • No, I'll stay here.
      • You decide to stay where you are.

Searching the marked wall after all runes have been inserted[edit | edit source]

  • You search the wall.
  • You find the word 'SMELL' marked on the wall. The outline of a door appears on the wall. What would you like to do?
  • Select an option
    • Read the message on the wall?
      • (Same as above.)
    • Investigate the outline of the door.
      • You see a small door outline starting to form in the wall. Slowly a well formed door handle starts to emerge, suddenly, the door cracks open. Would you like to go through?
      • (Continues above.)

Using the marked wall after all runes have been inserted[edit | edit source]

  • You walk into the darkness of the magical doorway. You walk for a short distance before pushing open another door.
  • (If going to the cavern with water pools:)
    • You appear in a large cavern like room filled with pools of water.
  • (If leaving the cavern with water pools:)
    • You appear in a small walled cavern.
    • There seems to be an exit to the south east.

Searching the buried skeleton[edit | edit source]

  • It looks as if some poor unfortunate soul died here.
  • There's nothing interesting about these remains.

Opening the third ancient gate[edit | edit source]

  • This door is fused with rock, it doesn't seem possible to open it. But it does look slightly strange in some way.

Searching the third ancient gate[edit | edit source]

  • It just looks like a normal door... at first. And then you notice that some of the inscriptions make up letters. After some time you manage to make sense of it. Would you like to read it?
  • Select an option
    • Yes, I'll read it.
      • You attempt to read the message on the door...
It looks like some sort of riddle:
      • Doors of metal will not be kind,
To those who care not for the way of mind.
To all men of learning and supernatural powers,
With book and rune spend the long dark hours.
      • If passage further you would endure,
Give me a taste of your power so pure.
    • No, I don't want to read that.
      • You decide not to read the message.
    • Search further...
      • You scour the door for more clues.
Something etched into the wall nearby catches your eye...
It looks like a picture of four pillars!
      • Over the first pillar is a picture of a cloud.
Etched over the second pillar are flickering flames.
Over the third pillar is the carved image of a dew drop or a tear.
Over the fourth pillar is the likeness of a ploughed field.

Looking at a carved rock[edit | edit source]

  • It's meant to look like a stalagmite, but there is something that looks slightly artificial about it. Looking at it more carefully, it seems to look carved.

Searching a carved rock[edit | edit source]

  • You see a delicate inscription.
  • You see a delicate inscription on the rock, it says. 'Once there were crystals to make the pool shine. Ordered in stature to retrieve what's mine.'
  • (After a gem has been placed on it:)
    • A barely visible [gem] becomes visible again, spinning above the rock.
    • The gem soon begins to fade.

Using gems on carved rocks[edit | edit source]

  • Player has gem removed from them.
  • You carefully move the gem closer to the rock.
  • The [gem] glows and starts spinning as it hovers above the rock.
  • The gem soon begins to fade.
  • An ornately carved rock with a pointed receptacle.

After placing the last gem[edit | edit source]

  • The player is dragged to the middle of the room.
  • You feel a powerful force picking you up....
  • All the gems suddenly appear again...
  • Suddenly the room is lit up with a brilliant light...
  • ...Strangely a book appears near the middle of the room.
  • The binding book appears on the floor.

Pure Water[edit | edit source]

Smithing at an anvil with at least one gold bar[edit | edit source]

  • Smith a special item?
    • Golden bowl
      • (If the player doesn't have at least two gold bars:)
        • You need two Gold Bars to make a bowl.
      • (If the player has at least two gold bars:)
        • (If successful:)
          • You forge a beautiful bowl out of solid gold.
          • Player has 2 gold bars removed from them. Player receives gold bowl.
    • No, smith something else
      • (Smithing interface opens.)

The Blessed Vessel[edit | edit source]

  • Gujuo: Greetings Bwana. Ah I see you have the golden bowl! Would you like me to show you how to bless it?
  • Select an option
    • Yes, I'd like you to bless my gold bowl.
      • Player: Yes, I'd like to bless my golden bowl.
      • Gujuo: Very well Bwana...
      • Gujuo places the bowl on the floor in front of you, and leads you into a deep meditiation...
      • Gujuo: Ohhhhhmmmmmm.
      • Player: Oooooommmmmmmmmm
      • Gujuo: Ohhhhhmmmmmm.
      • Player: Oooooohhhhmmmmmmmmmm
      • Gujuo: Ohhhhhmmmmmm.
      • You're surrounded by total peace as you bring the blessings of your god down on the bowl.
      • Player has gold bowl removed from them. Player receives blessed gold bowl.
      • The bowl is blessed!
      • (Continues above.)
    • No thanks, I need help with something else.
      • (Same as above.)

Looking at the water pool[edit | edit source]

  • It looks like a small babbling brook that comes from and disappears underground again. The water bubbles with a strange effervescence.

Investigating the water pool[edit | edit source]

  • It looks like you'll have problems getting some of the water as it's difficult to reach with all the rocks around it. There is a narrow gap that you simply won't be able to get a container into.

Looking at the tall reeds[edit | edit source]

  • These look like interesting plants, right next to the water's edge. They make the pool look really picturesque.

Searching the tall reeds[edit | edit source]

  • These tall reeds look nice and long with a long tube for a stem. They reach all the way down to the water.

Cutting the tall reeds[edit | edit source]

  • You use your machete to cut down a reed.
  • Player receives hollow reed.

Using the hollow reed on the water pool[edit | edit source]

Without an empty vial[edit | edit source]

  • You start to siphon some of the water up the tube...
  • But you have nothing to put the water in.

With an empty vial and without a blessed gold bowl[edit | edit source]

  • Player has vial and hollow reed removed from them. Player receives vial of water.
  • You use the cut reed plant to siphon some water from the pool into your vial The[sic] water doesn't seem to bubble and sparkle as much as it did in the pool.
  • The hollow reed is soaked through with water and is now all soggy.

With a blessed gold bowl[edit | edit source]

  • Player has blessed gold bowl removed from them. Player receives golden bowl.
  • You use the cut reed plant to siphon some water from the pool into your blessed golden bowl. The water seems to bubble and sparkle as if alive.

With enchanted vials[edit | edit source]

  • Player has enchanted vials removed from them. Player receives holy water.
  • You use the cut reed plant to siphon some water from the pool into your enchanted vial. The water seems to bubble and sparkle as if alive.

Enchanting vials with the binding book[edit | edit source]

  • You prepare an incantation from the page...
  • [How many would you like to enchant?]

Using the golden bowl on the fire wall[edit | edit source]

  • You splash some pure water on the flames.

Looking at the desk[edit | edit source]

  • It's a very old rickety desk made of bamboo.

Searching the desk[edit | edit source]

  • You give the desk a good search.
  • (If the player doesn't have the shaman's tome:)
    • Player receives Shamans tome.
    • You find an interesting tome. It looks heavy and very unique.
  • (If the player has the shaman's tome:)
    • You find nothing else of interest here.

The shaman's tome[edit | edit source]

  • You read the ancient shaman's tome. It is written in a strange sort of language but you manage a rough translation.
  • ...scattered are my hopes that I will ever be released from this flaming Octagram, it is the only thing which will contain this beast within. Although its grip over me is weakened with magic, it is hopeless to know if a saviour would guess this. I am doomed...

Talking to Ungadulu[edit | edit source]

  • Ungadulu: Please run for your life...
  • The Shaman seems to be fighting an inner battle.
  • Ungadulu: Go... go now...!
  • The Shaman seems to change in front of your eyes...
  • Ungadulu [possessed]: Welcome Vacu, to eternal...
  • The Shaman starts an incantation...
  • You feel a strange power coming over you...
  • You feel very weak...
  • The Shaman seems to get stronger!
  • The Shaman seems to return to normal...
  • Ungadulu: Run, run away... Run like the leopard Bwana!

Using the binding book on Ungadulu[edit | edit source]

  • You open the Book of Binding in front of Ungadulu and a supernatural light starts emanating from the pages, illuminating Ungadulu whose face twists and contorts in spasms.
  • Ungadulu [possessed]: Curse you foul intruder... 'Ere near to death ye come now that ye has meddled in my dealings..
  • Without warning, the outline of a huge demon starts to emerge in front of you as Ungadulu falls to the floor unconscious.
  • Nezikchened: Your faith will help you little here.
  • Nezikchened: Your faith will help you little here.
  • A sense of hopelessness fills your body...
  • The player's prayer points are completely drained.

Upon defeating Nezikchened[edit | edit source]

  • Nezikchened: Ha ha ha... I shall return for you when the time is right.
  • Nezikchened: Ha ha ha... I shall return for you when the time is right.
  • The demon starts an incantation...
  • Nezikchened: But I will leave you with a taste of my power...
  • As he finishes the incantation a powerful bolt of energy strikes you.
  • The player is damaged.
  • Nezikchened: Haha hah ha ha ha ha...
  • The demon's body falls to the floor in a pile of ashes...

Attempting to attack Ungadulu[edit | edit source]

  • The Shaman casts a spell!
  • Ungadulu unleashes a savage bolt of energy at you. You're knocked out of the octagram by the power of the spell.
  • Ungadulu: I hope that teaches you a lesson!

Touching a fire wall after defeating Nezikchened[edit | edit source]

  • You feel completely fine to walk through these flames.
  • The magic of Ungadulu's spell protects you from the flames.

The Yommi Tree[edit | edit source]

Ungadulu's Thanks[edit | edit source]

  • Ungadulu: Greetings bwana... Many thanks for defeating the demon... and releasing me from this dreadful possession... Pray tell me, what can I do to repay this great favour?
  • Select an option
    • I need to collect some Yommi tree seeds for Gujuo.
      • (If the player already has the Yommi tree seeds:)

        • Player: I need to collect some Yommi tree seeds for Gujuo.
        • Ungadulu: Oh, yes, Bwana... you will be doing a great favour to our people by doing this. However, you must know that it is a difficult task, the Yommi tree is difficult to grow. You must have a natural ability with such things to have a chance...
        • The Shaman holds out his gnarly old hand and reveals three largish green seeds.
        • Ungadulu: Here you are, accept these with my gratitude. You'll need to soak them in sacred water before planting them. I notice that you must already be familiar with sacred water to have passed into the flaming octagram.

          • How do I grow the Yommi tree?
            • Player: How do I grow the Yommi tree?
            • Ungadulu: A good question Bwana, but it is essentially quite simple. First you will need to soak the seeds in some pure water. This will help to germinate the seed and begin the growing process. The Yommi tree is sacred and is also slightly magical. You need to seek out a patch of fertile earth. Such places are located around the jungle and should give the Yommi tree a good chance of survival. The tree should show some remarkable growth quite early but will slow down, you may be able to speed the process up by watering the tree with more pure water, although it can be difficult to find it.

          • What do you know about the pure water?
            • Player: What do you know about the pure water?
            • Ungadulu: Hmmm, the pure water is sacred to us. It is from a sacred spring which is fed from deep underground. Legend has it that the spring is protected by spirits of long dead adventurers who went in search of the source of the spring. It is likely a myth and the source of the spring is buried deep underground with no paths to it.

But do remember me from time to time and come to visit an old man. You never know, I may be able to the future, and repay you the favour from that terrible Demon...

  • Player: Hello there.
  • Gujuo: Congratulations on releasing Ungadulu! My people are very pleased... How goes the growing of the Yommi tree?
  • Select an option
    • I have germinated the Yommi tree seeds.
      • Player: I have germinated the Yommi tree seeds.

      • Player: Where is the fertile soil?
      • Gujuo: You should be able to find many places where the ground is fertile in the Kharazi Jungle. Planting the Yommi tree seeds in fertile soil gives it a good chance to grow. My people are trying to grow the Yommi tree as well. But so far we have not met with any success. If you find a rotten tree or what looks like a rotten totem pole, You'll need to remove it yourself to get to the fertile soil. It will take a very sharp, robust hatchet to do it.
      • (Shows the other options.)
    • Ok thanks for your help.

Corruption[edit | edit source]

Using a hollow reed on the water pool[edit | edit source]

  • It looks as if this pool has dried up. A thick black sludge has replaced the sparkling pure water. There is a disgusting stench of death that emanates from this area. Maybe Gujuo knows what's happened.

A Bad Omen[edit | edit source]

  • Gujuo: I have visited Ungadulu in the caves, he is hard at work studying. He looks well! Have you grown the Yommi tree yet?

              • Gujuo: I am not sure but I have heard that deeper in the catacombs where you found Ungadulu, deep underground there is a terrible place guarded by the undead. Since they died trying to find the source of the stream, they are cursed to guard it for all eternity. The first to seek the source was said to be a high level sorcerer. He created a powerful spell in the caves. Now, all those who venture near are overcome by a supernatural fear. With all my heart Bwana, I would never go near such a place.

They were probably meant to frighten us away from the caves. It could all just be a myth! You should perhaps talk to Ungadulu, he may know something? Using snake weed on the ardrigal mixture[edit | edit source]

  • It makes a heady brew. This must be what Gujuo was talking about. You certainly would need to be brave to drink this!

Using a Charge orb spell on the final ancient gate[edit | edit source]

  • The doors open!
  • Player has unpowered orb removed from them.
  • The orb shatters with the power of the magic. The spell works and you magically appear in a different part of the cave system. It seems that the gate was a test of magical ability.
  • As soon as you enter this room, you are filled with dread. In the centre of the room is a large gaping hole. It goes down a long way...

Searching the winch[edit | edit source]

  • You see nothing special about this...
  • Perhaps with a rope, it might be a bit more functional.

Using a rope on the winch[edit | edit source]

  • You throw a rope around the winch.
  • Player has rope removed from them.

Drinking the bravery potion[edit | edit source]

  • This bravery potion bubbles with a strange effervescence, but it smells very strange, like oily burnt oranges. Are you sure you want to drink it?
  • Drink the so-called 'Bravery Potion'?
    • Yes, I'll bravely drink the bravery potion.
      • Player has bravery potion removed from them. Player receives vial.
      • You bravely swig down the entire contents of the vial and then wait for some sort of internal explosion. After a few seconds, you realise that you actually feel quite okay.
    • Actually, let me consider this a bit longer first; it smells a bit odd.
      • You sensibly stopper the vial and place it back in your inventory. You consider that things aren't so desperate yet that you need to rely on strange jungle potions to make you brave.

Climing down into the hole[edit | edit source]

  • You search the wooden beams and find the rope you attached.
  • This climb down looks pretty dangerous, actually quite frightening. Are you sure you want to go down?
  • Climb down terrifying terrifying hole?
    • Yes, I'll shimmy down the rope into possible doom.
      • You prepare to climb down the rope.
      • And although fear stabs at your heart.
      • You shimmy down the rope and into the darkness.
      • You find yourself on the top of a tall ledge...
      • It's a long way down!
    • 'Err, no actually, I've had second thoughts about this.
      • You decide not to shimmy down the rope into most likely oblivion.

Test of Might[edit | edit source]

Picking up the blue hat[edit | edit source]

  • Your hand passes through the hat as if it wasn't there. Instantly, the clothes begin to animate and then slowly walk towards you!
  • Viyeldi: Beware adventurer lest thou lose thy head in search of source. Thou hast been tested for bravery and hast not been found wanting.
  • The spirit wavers slightly and then stands proud.
  • Viyeldi: Perilous dangers await for thee, Tojalon, Senay and Devere make three, None hold malice but will test your might, pray you do not lose these fights. If, however, you win this day, Take heart that see the source you may, Through Dragon's eye will you gain new heart, To see the source and then depart.
  • The clothes slump to the floor again after he has finished.

Attacking Viyeldi[edit | edit source]

  • Your attack passes straight through Viyeldi.
  • Viyeldi: To take challenge with me is useless for I am impervious to your attacks. Take your fight to someone else and maybe then get back on track.
  • The spirit of Viyeldi crumples back again into a pile of clothes.

Climbing over the rocky ledge[edit | edit source]

  • This looks like quite a dangerous walk way, are you sure you want to take this path?
  • Walk along dangerous path?
    • Yes, I can think of nothing more exciting!
      • You step forward carefully onto the pathway.
      • You climb confidently over the rocks and hold your balance well.
    • No, I'm having second thoughts.
      • You decide to stay where you are.

San Tojalon[edit | edit source]

  • San Tojalon: Prepare yourself...
  • San Tojalon will test your mettle.
After he is defeated
  • San Tojalon: You have proved yourself of the honour.
  • A hunk of crystal forms mid-air and falls to the floor. You place the crystal hunk in your inventory.

Irvig Senay[edit | edit source]

  • Irvig Senay: Greetings brave warrior, destiny is upon you... Ready your weapon and defend yourself.
After he is defeated
  • Irvig Senay: You have proved yourself of the honour.
  • A hunk of crystal forms mid-air and falls to the floor. You place the crystal hunk in your inventory.

Ranalph Devere[edit | edit source]

  • Ranalph Devere: Upon my honour, I will defend till the end... May your aim be true and the best of us win...
After he is defeated
  • Ranalph Devere: You have proved yourself of the honour.
  • A hunk of crystal forms mid-air and falls to the floor. You place the crystal hunk in your inventory.

Heart and Mind[edit | edit source]

  • You place the final segment of the crystal into the strangely shaped compartment, all the pieces seem to fit. You use your crafting skill to control the furnace. The heat in the furnace slowly rises and soon fuses the parts together. As soon as the item cools, you pick it up. As the crystal touches your hands a voice inside of your head says... Bring life to the dragons eye.

The Source of the Spring[edit | edit source]

Echned Zekin[edit | edit source]

  • You attempt to push the boulder out of the way.
  • A thick green mist seems to emanate from the water... It slowly congeals into the shape of a body.
  • The shapeless form slowly floats towards you.
  • In a rasping, barely audible voice you hear the entity speak.
  • Echned Zekin: Who disturbs the rocks of Zekin?
  • There seems to be something slightly familiar about this presence.

My spirit burns with the need for revenge, I shall not rest while I sense his spirit still. If you seek the pure water, you must ensure he meets his end. If not, you will never see the source and your journey back must ye start. What is your answer? Will ye put an end to Viyeldi for me?

              • Echned Zekin: You would release me from my torment and the source would be available to you. However, you must realise that this will be no easy task.
              • (If the player already has the dark dagger:)
                • Echned Zekin: Use the dagger I have provided for you to complete this task and then bring it to me when Viyeldi is dead.

                  • Echned Zekin: You will benefit from this decision, the source will be opened to you. Bring the dagger back to me when you have completed this task.
                • I've changed my mind, I can't do it.

              • Echned Zekin: Such noble thoughts, but Viyeldi is not alive. He is merely a vessel by which the power of the source protects itself. If that is your decision, so be it, but expect not to gain the water from this stream.
        • Do I know you?
          • Player: Do I know you?
          • Echned Zekin: I am long since dead and buried, lost in the passages of time. Long since have my kin departed and I been forgotten... It is unlikely that you know me... I am a poor tortured soul looking for rest and eternal peace...

He died trying to collect the water from this stream, and now I hang in torment for eternity.
