Thalmund's Forge northern door[edit | edit source]

Attempting to open north Forge doors the first time[edit | edit source]

  • Player: This doesn't seem goblin in construction. If I had to guess, I'd say it looks dwarven. What is this doing here? Hmm, well, whatever it is, it seems like there are twelve slots for something to be placed. One already has something in it and, if I'm not mistaken, that's a Dorgeshuun symbol on it.
  • Mystery Uncovered: 'Into the Forge'.
  • Player: And it's safe to say these doors are well and truly locked. Maybe I should report back to Zanik about this...

Attempting to open the forge door with some of the keys in your backpack or door[edit | edit source]

  • Player: Huh, I wonder if the spaces in the door are for other tribal goblin keys... Let's try some keys...
  • (Without keys in backpack:)
    • Player: Looks like I need to find some more tribal goblin keys to place here.
    • (Continues below)
  • (With keys in backpack:)

Opening the door with all keys (in door/inventory)[edit | edit source]

  • Place all held tribal goblin keys?
    • Yes.
      • Player takes all keys, one by one, and places them in the door
      • Player: Okay, that appears to be the last key in place...
      • The doors open.
      • Player: What is this place? I guess I should explore...
      • Enter the forge?
        • Yes.
          • Camera fades out and back in, and the Player is inside and instance of the forge.
        • No.
          • Player: Maybe later.
    • No.
      • Player: Hmm, there's still some locks to open...

Attempting to open the south doors from inside the forge[edit | edit source]

  • Player: These doors are still locked. Maybe there's something in this room to open them up?

Smithing at Imcando anvil[edit | edit source]

Pulling the south lever[edit | edit source]

  • South forge doors slowly swing open.

Pulling the lever in the center of the room[edit | edit source]

Zanik[edit | edit source]

Talking to Zanik about the Into the Forge mystery[edit | edit source]

After attempting to open the north forge doors[edit | edit source]

  • Player: Hey, Zanik. I've found something a bit odd down in the tunnels beneath the arena. There looks to be some dwarven construction - a huge door, locked tight.
  • Zanik: Dwarven? That seems unlikely. Bandos would not knowingly work with the dwarves even on his best days. Not even chaos dwarves. He only tolerated Saradomin and Zamorak as allies to sell them mercenaries.
  • (If you have destroyed any keys:)
    • (Without space in backpack:)
      • You need [number] free inventory space[s].
      • Zanik: I'm holding on to some of those tribal goblin keys you found.
      • (Continues below)
    • (With space in backpack:)
      • Zanik: I'm holding on to some of those goblin keys you found - do you want them back?
        • Take keys back from Zanik?
          • Yes.
            • (The keys you are missing are placed in your backpack.)
            • (Continues below)
          • No.
            • Zanik: Okay, well, when you want them, you know where they are!
            • (Continues below)
  • (Without all the found keys in the door:)
    • Player: I've started finding goblin tribal keys, now I know what it is I'm looking for.
    • Zanik: Good luck finding them all!
    • (If you have some of the keys in the door:)
      • Player: I've used some of them too.
      • Zanik: So you are definitely on the right track.
  • (With all found keys in the door:)
    • Player: Well, it's there, and I'm going to try to get it open! There looks to be a key in it already, with a Dorgeshuun symbol on it...
    • Zanik: What? Dorgeshuun? But my tribe's history has us breaking off from Bandos before the end of the Third Age. Oh, maybe that is why. If there were no more Dorgeshuun about, I guess they just left our tribe's key in the door for safekeeping - that makes sense, I think. That also suggests there were keys for the other goblin tribes. Back then there would have been twelve tribes in total.
    • Player: That tracks with what I saw - there were eleven more spots open for keys.
    • Zanik: It sounds to me like you have some exploring to do and some tribal goblin keys to find!

After opening the doors but before solving the mystery[edit | edit source]

  • Player: I did it! I found all the tribal goblin keys and opened that dwarven door down in the tunnels. It led into a fully fledge[sic] forge!
  • Zanik: Well, it stands to reason given the name of this place. It did seem odd if it was just a figurative forge for turning goblin children into warriors. I am shocked it is of dwarven construction, though.
  • Zanik: See what you can find inside the forge. Maybe there is some clue as to what it all means.

After solving the mystery[edit | edit source]

  • Player: Not only is there a dwarven forge down there, but I've only gone and got it working again!
  • Zanik: So quickly? Wow, it must have been incredibly well engineered to still be in working order after all this time. Still, I will send some of our experts down to check it out, make sure it is safe to use and stable.
  • Player: If I'm not mistaken, it's not only of dwarven construction, I think it's of imcando design. I should give it a try, next time I have some smithing to do. I'll bet there's something special about it...
