- What do you do here?
- Player: What do you do here?
- Ezekial Lovecraft: I supply the local fishermen with the tools and bait they need to do their job.
- Player: Interesting. Have you been doing it long?
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Why yes, all of my life. I took over from my father, who inherited the business from his father and so on. In fact, there have been Lovecraft's selling bait for over ten generations.
- Player: Wow, that's some lineage.
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Oh yes, we have a long and interesting family history. For one reason or another the Lovecraft's have always been bait sellers or writers.
- Player: Hmm, yes well. I'm sure it's all fascinating, but I...
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Oh very, very fascinating, for instance my great grandfather Howard...
- Player: Yawn. Oh, I'm sorry but I really must be getting on. I think my giraffe needs feeding.
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Your?
- Player: Giraffe. Sorry, but he gets cranky without enough sugar. Bye now!
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Oh right, goodbye.

- Ezekial Lovecraft: Sniff. Yes, everyone says that.
- If the player has progressed far enough in The Slug Menace
- You know, you sound just like the mayor?
- Player: You know, you sound just like the mayor?
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Really? That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said. I admire him a great deal. He works so hard for this town.
- Player: You look like him as well?
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Hmm, I don't think I do.
- Player: No really, what with the unhealthy skin tone and bulging eyes. The resemblance is uncanny.
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Well, I haven't spoken to him in a while. I don't get out much.
- Player: I can see why.
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Maybe the Mayor has finally seen how much I admire him and has grown to admire me?
- Player: Anything's possible I suppose. Wait a minute, you mean you've always looked that odd?
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Hey, I resent that!
- Player: I'm sorry, it's just... Nevermind.
- You know, you sound just like the mayor?
- What do you do here?
In the mines below Witchaven, after Kennith's concerns[edit | edit source]
- Player: Are you not going home, Ezekial?
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Oh, I will soon; I'm just taking in the atmosphere.
- Player: The 'atmosphere'? This place has brought us nothing but trouble.
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Absolutely, but that just increases my determination to rid the world of those sea slugs once and for all. Anger is an energy, Player.
- Player: I'm a bit worried about you, Ezekial. I think you ought to go home and relax.
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Maybe you're right. I'll go soon, just give me a little more time.
After Kennith's concerns, before Salt in the Wound[edit | edit source]
- Player: Hello, Ezekial.
- Ezekial Lovecraft: Why, hello, Player! I'm so pleased to see you again. Life has been very dull in this quiet little village ever since our last adventure.
- If the player has rubium
- Ezekial Lovecraft: I see you have some rubium - would you like to sell it to me?
- Player: Well, that depends! How much would you give me for [amount] pieces?
- Ezekial Lovecraft: For that amount of rubium I can offer you [10 gp per rubium].
