This transcript involves dialogue with Fred Swarbrick, Mayor Druss Daven, Zafir Daven, Martin the fishmonger, and the player.
This transcript mentions the following: Bress Daven, Fourth Age, and Robert the Strong.

Intro cutscene[edit | edit source]

  • [Unknown:] I've seen their type plenty. Adventurers, they call themselves.
  • [Unknown:] Hoping to be the next Robert the Strong.
  • [Unknown:] Always with eyes glazed, dreaming of what mainland Gielinor be like.
  • [Unknown:] Vast lands, umpteen quests, a world fraught with danger.
  • [Unknown:] Most I see heading back the very next day, tails between their legs.
  • [Unknown:] So out of the goodness of my heart, I've taken to dropping them some place else.
  • [Unknown:] Somewhere to rediscover their courage... without becoming dragon poop.
  • [Unknown:] Trust me - it's less messy this way.

Investigating the footprints[edit | edit source]

  • You: Large footprints, set deep into the ground.

Climbing over the Davendale village sign[edit | edit source]

Towards the village[edit | edit source]

  • (First time:)
    • You: The trolls are either very clumsy, or they know I'm following them.
    • (Continues below.)
  • The player climbs over the sign.

Towards the docks[edit | edit source]

  • Select an option
    • Climb back over the obstacle.
      • The player climbs over the sign.
    • Stay where you are.
      • (Dialogue ends.)

Searching the freshly dug hole[edit | edit source]

  • You: A big hole. Troll sized! Freshly dug.
  • You: The hole's far too steep to climb down. I'll have to find another way around.

Repairing the broken bench[edit | edit source]

  • You: Let's see if I can fix this up...
  • The player repairs the bench.

Approaching Mayor Druss Daven[edit | edit source]

(Voice only:)

  • (One of the following lines is randomly said:)
    • [Mayor Druss Daven]: Greetings!
    • [Mayor Druss Daven]: Hello!
    • [Mayor Druss Daven]: Over here!
    • [Mayor Druss Daven]: This way!
    • [Mayor Druss Daven]: Welcome!
  • Mayor Druss Daven waves with his cane.

Talking to Mayor Druss Daven[edit | edit source]

  • Mayor Druss Daven: Wanderer! I saw you arrive from my humble mansion on the hill! I'm Mayor Daven of Davendale, but you can call me Druss.
  • Choose an option:
    • Trolls are coming!
      • Mayor Druss Daven: Trolls? Bwa-ha-ha! Imagine a troll - a mountain troll! - trying to swim to our little island. You almost had me there.
      • (Continues below.)
    • You spotted me, but not the trolls?
      • Mayor Druss Daven: Trolls? Hardly, my good friend! It's why my ancestors moved here. Mountain trolls can't get us here. Not across miles of water.
      • (Continues below.)
    • Lovely to meet you, Druss.
      • Mayor Druss Daven: Lovely to meet you too! Such manners are rare, don't you find?
      • (Continues below.)
    • I saw some strange footprints!
      • Mayor Druss Daven: Hmm, that's odd. Perhaps it was Martin, the fishmonger. You see him wearing big waders on his way to the beach sometimes.
      • (Continues below.)
  • Mayor Druss Daven: Now, join me in the centre of Davendale, and I'll give you the grand tour.
  • Screen fade in/out. The nearby gate is open and Mayor Druss Daven has moved to Davendale Square.

Crossing the gate[edit | edit source]

  • [The minimap shows the area you're currently in.

[Left-click/Tap] a location on the minimap to travel to that location.]

Discussing the statue[edit | edit source]

  • Mayor Druss Daven: Bress Daven. Father of Davendale! Not literally, of course. He was a one-woman man. But Davendale was his vision. He stood on this spot and imagined much of what you see. Other people built it, sure. But he brought tea, and he made them move things until they were just right. It is my duty to continue that vision.

Talking to Mayor Druss Daven at Davendale Square[edit | edit source]

First time[edit | edit source]

  • Mayor Druss Daven: Welcome to Davendale Square. Perhaps we could persuade you to stay with us.
  • Screen fade out/in. Cutscene begins. Mayor Druss Daven and the player walk up the stairs to the mayor's mansion. In the background are three trolls.
  • Mayor Druss Daven: That fair mansion on the hill is mine. It's been standing since the Fourth Age, don't you know.
  • The camera zooms in on the trolls.
  • Mayor Druss Daven: Great gods. Are those trolls?
  • Mayor Druss Daven and the player run away from the trolls.
  • Mayor Druss Daven: Everyone! Run for your ruddy lives!
  • Screen fade out/in. Mayor Druss Daven and the player are at Davendale Square.
  • Mayor Druss Daven: You can probably tell that Davendale is out of its depth. But I know this village. We get things done. We just need to be shown how.
  • The camera pans in on the trolls.
  • Mayor Druss Daven: Inspire us. Fight the trolls near my mansion. My daughter, Zafir, will lend you our family's sword. Once we've seen how it's done, Davendale will rally behind you.
  • The camera pans in Martin the fishmonger.
  • Mayor Druss Daven: Inspiration doesn't have to come from combat. You could choose to cook fish for the wounded to eat. I've sent Martin to the lake, to collect them.
  • Screen fade out/in. Cutscene ends.
  • Mayor Druss Daven: Either task, Combat or Cooking, will raise our fighting spirit. Choose one, or choose both!

Afterwards[edit | edit source]

Before raising Davendale's spirit[edit | edit source]

  • Mayor Druss Daven: Have you finished raising Davendale's spirit?
  • You: Not yet. I haven't decided between cooking fish or fighting trolls.
  • Mayor Druss Daven: Well, keep at it. Either one will inspire Davendale to fight back.
  • Select an option
    • Remind me of my objective.
      • Screen fade out/in. Cutscene begins.
      • Mayor Druss Daven: The only way out of this mess is to contribute to the fighting spirit of the village.
      • The camera pans in on the trolls.
      • Mayor Druss Daven: Inspire the villagers by fighting trolls. Once we've seen how it's done, Davendale will rally behind you.
      • The camera pans in Martin the fishmonger.
      • Mayor Druss Daven: Or cook fish for the wounded to eat. I've sent Martin to the lake, to collect them.
      • Screen fade out/in. Cutscene ends.
      • Mayor Druss Daven: Either task, Combat or Cooking, will raise our fighting spirit. Choose one, or choose both!
    • Farewell.
      • (Dialogue ends.)

Fishing for Davio or minnow[edit | edit source]

  • Martin the fishmonger: Wait! The mayor wants to talk to you.

Cooking at the outdoor range[edit | edit source]

  • You: If I had some raw food, I could cook it here.
  • Martin the fishmonger: I hope you aren't going to make a habit of talking to yourself.

Talking to Martin the fishmonger[edit | edit source]

Before talking to Mayor Druss Daven at Davendale Square[edit | edit source]

  • Martin the fishmonger: The mayor wants to talk to you. He's in the centre of the village.

Approaching him after talking to Mayor Druss Daven at Davendale Square[edit | edit source]

  • (First time:)
    • Martin the fishmonger: Mayor Daven sent me here to collect food to raise our spirits against the trolls. Can you bring me cooked fish? I'll show you how.
    • (Continues below.)
  • Choose an option:
    • I want to fish.
      • Martin the fishmonger: You need a tool to catch fish. Take this Fishing Rod.
      • Player receives fishing rod.
      • (If this is the first time receiving the fishing rod:)
        • [[Left-click/Tap] your backpack to open it.]
        • [Items you pick up go in your backpack, which is limited to 28 slots.]
        • [You need to carry a fishing rod in your backpack to fish.]
        • The camera pans in on the southern minnow fishing spot.
        • Martin the fishmonger: Now put that Fishing Rod to good use and catch some Minnow from a fishing spot. Look for bubbles in the water.
        • The camera returns to normal.
    • Farewell.
      • Martin the fishmonger: Goodbye!

Talking to Martin again[edit | edit source]

  • Choose an option:
    • I want to fish.
      • Martin the fishmonger: Yes, put that Fishing Rod to good use and go catch some fish from one of these fishing spots.
      • The camera pans in on the southern minnow fishing spot.
      • Martin the fishmonger: Start by fishing Minnow. When you're more experienced, you'll be able to fish Davio.
      • The camera returns to normal.
    • Ask about Davendale.
      • Martin the fishmonger: Oh, just typical. I've been a fisherman all my life. Dad was a fisherman, grandpappy was a fisherman. Something happens in the village - something new? What do people need me to do? Fish is what they need me to do. They need me to fish.
      • (Shows the previous options.)
    • Farewell.
      • Martin the fishmonger: Goodbye!

Attempting to fish for Davio[edit | edit source]

  • (First two times:)
    • Martin the fishmonger: That's a Davio fishing spot. Now Davio are big, stroppy and a bit of a handful, just like the founder of Davendale! Catch Minnow from one of the other fishing spots for practice until you've increased your Fishing skill.
    • (Continues below.)
  • You need level 2 Fishing to catch Raw Davio.

Talking to Fred Swarbrick[edit | edit source]

  • Fred Swarbrick: What do you want?
  • Choose an option:
    • That's not very friendly.
      • Fred Swarbrick: Hmph!
      • (Shows the previous options.)
    • What are you doing?
      • Fred Swarbrick: I'm catching Davio with an invisible net! What's it look like I'm doing? I'm sitting here by the lake and trying to enjoy some peace and quiet.
      • (Shows the previous options.)
    • You look familiar.
      • Fred Swarbrick: Eh? There's only one Fred Swarbrick on this island, and that's me. My family has been in Davendale for generations, and don't you forget it!
      • (Shows the previous options.)
    • Goodbye.
      • Fred Swarbrick: Hmph.

Talking to Zafir Daven[edit | edit source]
