Speaking to Mr. Mordaut[edit | edit source]

  • (With boat materials and rewards left to claim:)
    • (Dialogue from handing in occurs, then continues below.)
  • (Only on first time:)
    • Mr. Mordaut: Ah, Player. Pleasure to see you again.
    • Player: Mr. Mordaut? What are you doing here?
    • Mr. Mordaut: At the behest of King Roald Remanis the third I am leading an expedition to Fossil Island. We are currently recruiting adventurers such as yourself to help us construct a boat. One capable of breaching the stormwall surrounding the island. I also have a special task you may be able to help with.
    • (Continues below.)
  • (After the first time, before asking about the task:)
    • Mr. Mordaut: Why, hello there. I have a special task for you, if you're interested.
    • (Continues below.)
  • (After the first time, after asking about the task:)
    • Mr. Mordaut: Are you here to assist us?
    • (Continues below.)
  • Select An Option
    • (Only after not asking "What can I do to help?", and before asking this before.)
      • Tell me about this 'special task'.
        • Player: Tell me about this 'special task'.
        • Mr. Mordaut: We will need to infuse the hull with powerful wards if our vessel is to have any chance of breaching the stormwall surrounding Fossil Island. We've uncovered something which may be able to help - fragments of a powerful ancient crest that lie scattered across this dig site. Eva claims to have created a device capable of locating these fragments. See if you can collect them all and reassemble the crest.
        • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • (Only after not asking "What can I do to help?", and while looking for the crest fragments:)
      • Remind me how I can find that crest.
        • Player: Remind me how I can find that crest.
          • (Without Eva's alerter:)
            • Mr. Mordaut: Talk to Eva, she claims to have a device that can track the energy signature of the scattered crest.
            • (Returns to the previous options.)
          • (With Eva's alerter:)
            • Mr. Mordaut: Search this dig site for crest fragments using the tracking device Eva gave you. She may be able to provide you with a replacement should you misplace it.
            • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • (Only after not asking "What can I do to help?", and after combining the crests:)
      • I found the crest you were after.
        • (Without the crest:)
          • (Dialogue terminates.)
        • (With the crest:)
          • Player: I found the crest you were after.
          • Mr. Mordaut: Wonderful! I'll see if I can utilise it's[sic] power to bolster the ship's magical defences. I'll take back the alerter Eva gave you as well. As a reward, take this old textbook on magic theoretics I have lying around. Perhaps you'll learn a thing or two yourself.
          • The player receives the tome of knowledge and 500 boat materials.
    • What can I do to help?
      • Player: What can I do to help?
      • Mr. Mordaut: There are a multitude of tasks around the construction site that you could complete for us. The enchanted trees just north need to be tended, and chopped for lumber.
      • (During phase 2:)
        • Mr. Mordaut: We also require rivets, which can be smithed in the tent beside me.
        • (Continues below.)
      • (During phase 3:)
        • Mr. Mordaut: The wards for the hull need to be empowered, and Eva could use some assistance with the engine.
        • Mr. Mordaut: We also require rivets, which can be smithed in the tent beside me.
        • (Continues below.)
      • (During phase 4:)
        • Mr. Mordaut: We are in the process of warding the hull and channeling divination into the prow. Eva could also use some assistance with the engine.
        • Mr. Mordaut: We still require more rivets, and the sails need to be constructed.
        • (Continues below.)
      • Player: I'll see what I can do.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • What's in this for me?
      • Player: What's in it for me?
      • Mr. Mordaut: Fear not, we are compensating adventurers who contribute boat materials to our project. King Roald is offering a set of light armour custom-made for agants of Varrock.
      • Player: That's very nice of him.
      • Mr. Mordaut: We are also offering high-quality Varrock flags, should adventurers wish to lay claim to lands beyond the stormwall.
      • Player: Nothing says 'adventure' like appropriating distant and potentially inhabited lands.
      • Mr. Mordaut: Junior here has also expressed interest in adventuring. If you prove your worth I may let him travel with you as a companion.
      • Player: A noble goal.
      • Mr. Mordaut: We will also bestow the title 'Stormbreaker' upon those who provide us with a significant amount of boat materials.
      • Player: I'd best get started then.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • I have other questions.
      • Player: I have other questions.
      • Mr. Mordaut: What would you like to know?
      • Select An Option
        • (Only if not asked last:)
          • Why are you using the archaeologists' boat?
            • Player: Why are you using the archaeologists' boat?
            • Mr. Mordaut: The archaeologists'[sic] have been constructing a vessel to explore the islands north-east of Morytania for some time. And, quite frankly, their unfathomable levels of incompetence have been draining the museum's resources for far too long.
            • Disgraced Foreman: *Incoherent grumbling*
            • Player: How bad are we talking?
            • Mr. Mordaut: Employees being paid by the hour... over a decades worth of work, and nothing but nine failed vessels to show for it.
            • Player: Nine failed vessels?
            • Mr. Mordaut: Version 1.0 suffered from a severe lack of buoyancy. Versions 5.0 and 6.0 collided. Version 8.0 was displaced in time after a magical explosion. And version 9.0 developed sentience and ran itself aground near an active volcano. Just to name a few. I'm honestly impressed by how spectacular their failures have been.
            • (Returns to the previous options.)
        • (Only if not asked last:)
          • Tell me more about this expedition.
            • Player: Tell me more about this expedition.
            • Mr. Mordaut: With pleasure. Take a seat, and I'll prepare us something to eat.
            • You look around but there is nowhere to sit, so you remain standing. Mr. Mordaut doesn't seem to notice.
            • Mr. Mordaut: You see, King Roald has increased Museum funding and spearheaded this expedition because of a dark, twisted and sinister- Oh my, what a catastrophe! This is truly the end for us all!
            • Player: What is it?
            • Mr. Mordaut: I'm all out of Red Lumbridge. No other cheese goes quite so well with crackers. Where was I? Oh yes, the terrible-
            • Player: Don't worry Mordaut, we will get you more Red Lumbridge. I swear it!
            • Mr. Mordaut: Thank you, Player. Now, back to the topic at hand... Wait, what were we talking about again? Oh well, I'm sure it wasn't anything important.
            • (Returns to the previous options.)
        • That's all.
          • Player: That's all.
          • Mr. Mordaut: Is there anything else you require?
          • (Returns to the initial options.)
    • Goodbye.
      • Player: Goodbye.
      • Mr. Mordaut: Farewell.

Speaking to Eva[edit | edit source]

  • (Only on first time:)
    • Eva: It's marvelous, isn't it?
    • Player: It's... a boat.
    • Eva: This is more than some pedestrian pedalo. It's a marvel of marine manufacturing. Well, it will be, when we're finished.
    • Player: Right.
    • Eva: Where are my manners? I'm Eva Lovelace, architect and engineer for this project. And the lead botanist. Oh, and head of magical research.
    • Player: You must be very qualified.
    • Eva: 'Qualified' is a strong word.
    • Mr. Mordaut: She was willing to work for free.
    • (Continues below.)
  • (After the first time:)
    • Eva: Is there something you need?
    • (Continues below.)
  • Select An Option
    • (Only while on the task before getting Eva's alerter:)
      • I heard you have a device that tracks crest fragments.
        • Player: I heard you have a device that tracks crest fragments.
        • Eva: I do indeed! This crafty contraption will be able to detect the energy signatures of the crest fragments you're after. Pressing the blue button will show you the location of the nearest fragment, and pressing the green one will tell you how many fragments are left to collect.
        • Player: That's perfect.
        • Eva: But whatever you do, don't press the red one! And be careful not to drop it. The previous four models had some minor issues with dimensional stability. Joe hasn't been seen since the last device dropping debacle. But I'm sure you'll be fine!
        • The player receives the alerter.
        • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • (Only after having lost Eva's alerter:)
      • I lost the tracker.
        • Player: I lost the tracker.
        • Eva: You didn't drop it, did you? Was it sucked into a dimension of pure entropy? Lost to a realm of relentless ruin? Did you push the red button?!
        • Player: I think I just lost it.
        • Eva: Oh. Well, I do happen to have a spare.
        • The player receives the alerter.
        • Eva: But be more careful, these things don't grow on trees. Not even magically enhanced ones.
        • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • (Only after having lost a fragment while having Eva's alerter:)
      • I lost some of the fragments.
        • Player: I lost some of the fragments.
        • Eva: How did you manage that?
        • Player: I-
        • Eva: Well, luckily for you I took my 'Alerter 2.0' for a tentative trial earlier. And look at what I found!
        • The player receives the lost fragments.
        • Player: Thank you.
        • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • (Only after having lost the stormbreaker crest:)
      • I lost the crest.
        • Player: I lost the-
        • Eva: Ah, there you are! Look at what I found: the Stormbreaker Crest Mr. Mordaut is after. The very thing he valued so highly. That could ensure his vessel safe travel and guarantee the success of his expedition.
        • Player: I-
        • Eva: Can you believe someone went through all the trouble of finding and assembling this only to throw it away?
        • Player: ...
        • Eva: It must take a completely careless character to-
        • Player: Oh, just give it here!
        • The player receives the crest.
        • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • (Only if not asked last:)
      • What's with these enchanted trees?
        • Player: What's with these enchanted trees?
        • Eva: These botanical beauties were magically enhanced by yours truly. They grow as quickly as you can chop them. I'm very pleased with these latest specimens. They haven't caught fire once.
        • Player: Caught fire?
        • Eva: Not yet. Looks like I might have finally fixed those strange spontaneous combustion issues. But you may want to keep some water on hand, just in case.
        • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • (Only if not asked last:)
      • I've never seen a steam powered boat quite like this before.
        • Player: I've never seen a steam powered boat quite like this before.
        • Eva: Brilliant, isn't it? I got the idea from my dear dwarven friend Daedaric. Hopefully this goes better than those steam powered wings he made for his son.
        • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • Goodbye.
      • Player: Goodbye.
      • Eva: See you around.

After the event[edit | edit source]

Speaking to Mr. Mordaut[edit | edit source]

  • Mr. Mordaut: Thanks to the assistance we received, our expedition is ready! We will be departing post-haste.

Speaking to Eva[edit | edit source]

  • Eva: The boat's finished, and it hasn't burst into flames once! I've really outdone myself.
  • Eva: Will you be joining Mordaut on his expedition? It's an enticing endeavor[sic], but alas, I have my own plans.
  • Eva: Perhaps our paths will cross again some day.

Speaking to Professor Tony[edit | edit source]

Before the release of Anachronia[edit | edit source]

  • Professor Tony: Wahey! The boat is built! Let's set sail for...
  • Associate Reiniger: Ah, we're not quite ready yet, Professor. Just some final preparation is needed - teams to hire, provisions to gather, etc.
  • Professor Tony: Urgh, I hate logistics, I just want to see all the new things we'll find on...
  • Seth Minas (site manager): Not long now, Professor. So long as the boat doesn't mysteriously explode, become sentient, phase out of time, crash into itself, turn into cheese overnight, defect to Morytania, sink without trace, or fly straight upwards - like the last ten - then we should be fine.
  • Professor Tony: Oh, I never get to do any actual hands-on archaeology these days...
  • Professor Tony: *sigh* I feel like I'm going to have figure out how to sail this barge-boat-ship, or learn a musical instrument or, who knows, even raise the dead, before I ever get to do any actual archaeology.

After the release of Anachronia[edit | edit source]

  • Professor Tony: Wahey! The boat is built! Let's set sail for...whatever name we decide on in the end. What was it again?
  • Associate Reiniger: All I remember is that it was something memorable and marketable...
