Burthorpe[edit | edit source]

Talking to Turael[edit | edit source]

At the start[edit | edit source]

  • Turael: 'Ello, and what are you after then?
    • Adventure!
      • Turael: Well, you've come to the right place.
        • (Continues below)
    • Something to kill.
      • Turael: I like how you think! You've come to the right place.
        • (Continues below)
    • Fortune and glory.
      • Turael: Then you've come to the right place!
        • (Continues below)
  • Turael: I'm a Slayer master. I train adventurers to seek out and defeat specific monsters. I'll identify suitable targets and assign you a quota. Burthorpe is surrounded by dangerous creatures. Are you eager to battle monsters for fun, heroism, and profit? Then Slayer is the skill for you! Trolls are the real enemy in Burthorpe, but you'll need food and armour to survive against them. You should prepare before risking your life in combat. This is the last adventurer they sent me. He fought the trolls without armour or food. Don't be him. In combat, you'll need to eat to live. Rabbits are a good source of food, and they make a cute noise when they die. Go kill some bunnies!
    • Tell me about Burthorpe.
      • Turael: Burthorpe is surrounded by dangerous creatures. Trolls to the north, wolves to the west, goblins in the east... And don't even get me started on the Guthix-damned rabbits. We're in the eye of the storm, and it's the duty of the Order of the Slayer Masters to keep that blood-shot eye wide open.
        • (Shows previous options)
    • But...bunnies are cute!
      • Turael: CUTE? Hah! The little blighters are voracious vermin. The Burthorpe rabbit population is out of control. It's your ecological and civic duty to slay as many 'bunnies' as you can. Plus, it's fun. Go on; try it!
        • (Shows previous options)
    • Where is the nearest bank?
      • Turael: You can bank your items at the bank booth to the south-west of me.
        • (Shows previous options)
    • I need guidance.
        • (Choose a Tutorial panel opens)
    • Farewell.
      • (Ends dialogue)

Before slaying the rabbits[edit | edit source]

  • Turael: In combat, you'll need to eat to live. Rabbits are a good source of food, and they'll make a cute noise when they die. Go kill some bunnies!
    • Tell me about Burthorpe.
      • (Same as above)
    • But...bunnies are cute!
      • (Same as above)
    • Where is the nearest bank?
      • (Same as above)
    • I need guidance.
      • (Same as above)
    • Farewell.
      • (Ends dialogue)

After slaying the rabbits[edit | edit source]

  • Turael: Well done slaying those rabbits! How do you feel?
    • Good. I'm ready to slay something else.
      • Turael: That's the spirit! I have a tougher assignment for you, but you'll need melee armour and more food to take into combat. Let's get cooking!
      • Path Complete: 'Call to Adventure'! Your reward has been added to your coin pouch: 5x Coins.
        • (Continues below)
    • I hated it. Please don't make me kill bunnies again.
      • Turael: Don't worry! I have a tougher assignment for you, but you'll need melee armour and more food to take into combat. Let's get cooking!
      • Path Complete: 'Call to Adventure'! Your reward has been added to your coin pouch: 5x Coins.
        • (Continues below)
    • Can I kill more rabbits? That was fun!
      • Turael: Of course! You can never slay enough rabbits.
        • Now I am become Death: the Slayer of Bunnies!
          • Turael: Yes, yes. Very amusing. Now hop to it.
        • Be vewwy vewwy quiet. I'm slaying wabbits!
          • Turael: (whisper) Yes...very amusing...now hop to it.
        • Best. Skill. Ever.
          • Turael: Slayer's pretty amazing, isn't it? Profitable, too! Now go forth, and reduce the surplus population!

Before cooking meat or fish[edit | edit source]

  • Turael: Do you want to cook meat or fish?
    • I want to fish and cook crayfish on a fire.
      • Turael The nearest fishing spot in Burthorpe is to the south of us. Go cook yourself some fish to eat in combat!
        • (Continues below)
    • I want to cook rabbit on a range.
      • If you do not have raw rabbit in your backpack:
        • Turael gives you some raw rabbit to cook.
          • (Continues below)
      • If you have raw rabbit in your backpack:
        • Turael I see you already have dead rabbits in your backpack. Let's cook them as an example to the other rabbits!
          • (Continues below)
      • Turael Remember, you're less likely to burn food cooking on a range. You can use the range in my house to the south-east.
        • (Continues below)
    • Tell me about Burthorpe.
      • (Same as above)
    • Tell me about the trolls.
      • Turael Mountain trolls are hard as rocks, and half as smart. They're always hungry, but trolls just don't seem to understand we don't like being eaten. Trolls even name themselves after the first thing they eat - or the noise we make when they eat us. Trolls will eat literally anything, but people taste much better than rocks. And the mountains are mostly rocks. So when the trolls raid Burthorpe, the imperial guard make sure it's the trolls' last meal, or die trying.
      • Player Why didn't the trolls eat the 'last action hero' over there? Did he taste as bad as he smells?
      • Turael Ah, yes. The chosen one, of many. I pulled him out of the cave as an example for the next adventurer that came along. How's that working out for you?
      • Player I'm not dead yet.
      • Turael Keep it up. You may even make a habit of it.
        • (Shows previous options)
    • Where is the nearest bank?
      • (Same as above)
    • I need guidance.
      • (Same as above)
    • Farewell.
      • (Ends dialogue)

After cooking meat or fish[edit | edit source]

  • Turael You've cooked some food. You need to smith yourself some armour (a bronze helmet, at the very least) to wear into battle.
    • Tell me about Burthorpe.
      • (Same as above)
    • Tell me about the trolls.
      • (Same as above)
    • Where is the nearest bank?
      • (Same as above)
    • I need guidance.
      • (Same as above)
    • Farewell.
      • (Ends dialogue)

After smithing and equipping the bronze helmet[edit | edit source]

  • Turael: Good! You have food, melee armour and a weapon. Now you're prepared, it's time for you to learn some more combat techniques.
    • (Combat tutorial opens)

      • (End of dialogue)
    • I want to smith a uit of melee armoiur!
      • (End of dialogue)
