First task[edit | edit source]

Talking to the Curator about A Cultist's Journey[edit | edit source]

Before agreeing to help[edit | edit source]

  • (If City of Senntisten has not been completed:)
    • Warning: Completion of the City of Senntisten quest is recommended to fully understand this content.
    • DO YOU WISH TO CONTINUE?

  • The Curator: Hello there, World Guardian. I'm very pleased to see you! I could really do with your help.
  • Player: What do you need help with?
  • The Curator: It has been brought to my attention that cults devoted to the Elder Gods have been springing up all over Gielinor. Obviously, this is bizarre. Why anyone would worship such openly hostile entities is a mystery to me. I am worried that these cults may pose a serious threat. Surely no one in their right mind would dedicate their lives to the Elder Gods. It is of the utmost importance that I find out more. The problem is, my old legs aren't what they used to be, so I'm not able to go traipsing around Gielinor investigating. Please could you help me?
  • SELECT AN OPTION
    • Yes.
      • Player: Of course, I'll help.
      • The Curator: Excellent! My biggest concern right now is H.A.M, a cult known for its hatred of 'monsters' - although their definition of that word seems to be somewhat loose.
      • Player: Yeah, we've met.
      • The Curator: Then I needn't tell you how reprehensible they are. It appears that their leader, Johanhus Ulsbrecht, has become obsessed with the Elder Gods. A cult dedicated to the Elder Gods could be nothing, or it could be something truly dangerous. Distasteful as it may be to speak to Ulsbrecht, he may be our only lead. I need you to go and talk to him. Last I heard, he was somewhere around the Archaeology guild shouting his nonsense from the rafters to anyone who'll listen. Humour him as long as you can stomach, and with any luck you'll find out more.
      • Player: I'll head there now. Wish me luck...
    • No.
      • Player: I'm too busy right now, sorry.
      • The Curator: That is very unfortunate. Please reconsider World Guardian, I will be here when you change your mind.

After agreeing to help[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: Have you spoken to Johanhus yet?
  • Player: Not yet.
  • The Curator: Last I heard he was hanging around the Archaeology Guild. Could you go and speak to him?
  • Player: Sure, I'll do that.

Talking to Johanhus Ulsbrecht at the Exam Centre[edit | edit source]

First time[edit | edit source]

  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: It is all starting to make sense to me now!
  • Player: What is?
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Oh hello World Guardian. It's about time someone around here listened to me. Recently I uncovered an enthralling mystery. It seems that there are caches of First-Age armour buried across Gielinor. I am now very close to discovering their location and solving this mystery.
  • Player: What has drawn you to this mystery?
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: The armour was crafted in honour of the Elder Gods, the first and most powerful divine entities. Their power is unrivalled by all the other weak gods you see around here these days. Myself and my fellow H.A.M members believe that they are the answer to our problems. They will sweep clear the land of all impurities.
  • SELECT AN OPTION
    • Stay quiet.
      • Player: I see.
      • (Continues below.)
    • Challenge him.
      • Player: This is absolutely ridiculous! The Elder Gods are most definitely not the answer to your 'problems'.
      • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Of course they are.
      • (Continues below.)
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Since becoming aware of them, we have been working tirelessly to learn more. Ultimately, we wish to gain their favour.
  • Player: Why would you want to do that? They're trying to destroy us all.
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Of course they aren't. I am sure they will spare their loyal followers.
  • Player: That's doubtful... How are you planning to get their attention anyway?
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Surely discovering and returning this lost armour to its former glory would do just that. Also, my robes are looking rather tired. This is an excellent opportunity to refresh my look.
  • Player: Hmm... I'm really not sure that's a great-
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Anyway, I must get back to work.

Afterwards[edit | edit source]

  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: What am I missing? If I could just figure this out...

Returning to the Curator and asking about A Cultist's Journey[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: Have you spoken to Johanhus yet?
  • Player: Yes, I have. Johanhus believes that he has uncovered a mystery. He believes that there are caches of First-Age armour dedicated to the Elder Gods buried somewhere in the world. He thinks he is close to finding out where and intends to go and recover the armour.
  • The Curator: Incredible. There is no evidence of humans worshipping the Elder Gods throughout recorded history. If he's correct, he may have blundered upon a find of actual historical significance.
  • Player: I'm not sure he cares about that much. He believes that if he finds the armour then the Elder Gods will recognise him and bestow him with their favour.
  • The Curator: Why would he want that?
  • Player: He believes that they are going to solve all of H.A.M's problems...
  • The Curator: The fool. The Elder Gods are vast, primordial beings whose only concern is the pursuit of perfection in creation. Why would such beings care about being worshipped, and why would they see humans as special? Clearly, we are going to need to keep a very close eye on him. Not that it should be too difficult, he seems to leave a trail of evidence wherever he goes, which I am sure to hear about from somewhere. I'm sure I'll be needing your help again soon.

Talking to the Curator about A Cultist's Journey between A Cultist's Journey tasks[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: Thank you for your help so far. I am sure I will require your assistance again soon.

Second task[edit | edit source]

Talking to the Curator about A Cultist's Journey[edit | edit source]

First time[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: My sources say that Johanhus is claiming to have solved the mystery. Whether he has or not is another question entirely...[sic] He was last seen roaming the Feldip Hills. Could you go and see if he really has managed to find anything of note?
  • Player: I'll head there now...

Afterwards[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: Have you found Johanhus yet?
  • Player: Not yet.
  • The Curator: He was last seen roaming the Feldip Hills. Could you go and investigate?
  • Player: I'll head there now...

Talking to Johanhus Ulsbrecht at Feldip Hills[edit | edit source]

First time[edit | edit source]

  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Behold! At last, I have discovered the armour.
  • Player: I can see that...
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Isn't it incredible? Now I will surely be noticed by the Elder Gods!
  • Player: Um... I'm not sure the Elder Gods are interested in you. Or anyone, for that matter.
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: If they believe I am showing them my devotion, they will begin to take notice and respect me. Soon they will realise what a great ally I'll be to their cause. The monsters that occupy this land will be no more.
  • Player: Hold on, didn't you say this armour was from the First Age? How is it so pristine?
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Armour devoted to such powerful entities must be built to last. Nothing but a few scratches here.
  • Player: Right...
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Anyway, I do not have time to stand around and chat to you, World Guardian, I have so much to do.
  • Player: Like what, exactly?
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: I don't have time to explain. The dreams were... amazing. Such vivid images. I'm still trying to make sense of them.
  • Player: Um...
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Farewell, World Guardian!

Afterwards[edit | edit source]

  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: What is it you want? I have so much to do.

Returning to the Curator and asking about A Cultist's Journey[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: Have you found Johanhus yet?
  • Player: Yes. Johanhus has found a cache of First-Age armour in the Feldip Hills. Strangely it's in surprisingly good condition...
  • The Curator: How interesting. Perhaps this suggests that it is not simply armour, but a product of the raw, elemental magic left behind by the Elder Gods' acts of creation.
  • Player: He was also rambling about dreams..[sic]
  • The Curator: Fascinating. I wonder whether these items were created by early mages, inspired by visions caused by the magical fallout that saturated the world during the First Age. If some of that magic lingers in them, it could explain why Johanhus is having some colourful dreams. We will never truly know of course. But Johanhus is making a bold, and rather ignorant assumption by claiming that the armour was created for humans who worshipped the Elder Gods. Of course the elemental nature of the armour could well mean that it is associated with the Elder Gods. But it would be delusional to assume that they would want - or even acknowledge - worship. Especially from humans. After all, to the Elder Gods we're little more than a glitch in creation.
  • Player: Johanhus seems to believe that the Elder Gods will think he is special... He has decided that it is a good idea to wear the armour!
  • The Curator: The man is a fool. Did you learn anything else?
  • Player: He claimed that he was too busy to talk to me further.
  • The Curator: Very interesting... I wonder what he is planning next. I'll be seeing you again soon, I'm sure.

Third task[edit | edit source]

Talking to the Curator about A Cultist's Journey[edit | edit source]

First time[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: Johanhus has been spotted heading into Senntisten. I need you to go and find out what he is doing there. He has been claiming that he is working with you, World Guardian.
  • Player: He said WHAT? I will head there right away.

Afterwards[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: Have you found out what Johanhus is up to yet?
  • Player: Not yet.
  • The Curator: He was last spotted heading into Senntisten, rambling about how he is working with the World Guardian.
  • Player: Working with me? That's it! I am going to find him right away.

Talking to Johanhus Ulsbrecht in the cathedral[edit | edit source]

First time[edit | edit source]

  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Aren't they incredible? It is an honour to be in the presence of such beauty. I can already feel a connection with the Elder Gods forming.
  • Player: How did you get in here looking like that? And why have you been telling people that we are working together?
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: I didn't tell them that we're working together, I just mentioned that I am your close associate.
  • Player: But WHY would you say that?
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Well, I had to make it clear that I am no threat... And please keep your voice down. Show some respect! I had heard rumours, but I had no idea they would be so mesmerising.
  • Player: You need to leave.
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: I am not going anywhere. You may leave if you wish.
  • Player: Look, I have more pressing matters to attend to and do not have time to argue with you. No one here is going to let you do any real harm, but just stay out of the way. Oh, and don't wander out onto the battlefield. You'll die.

Afterwards[edit | edit source]

  • Johanhus is so distracted by the Elder God eggs that he doesn't seem to notice you.

Returning to the Curator and asking about A Cultist's Journey[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: Have you found out what Johanhus is up to yet?
  • Player: I found him at the Cathedral, admiring the Elder God eggs. He believes that he is forming a connection with the Elder Gods. I tried to get him to leave, but he refused. In the end I figured that with all the gods and legendary beings around there, he wouldn't manage to do any harm. I just warned him not to leave the Cathedral or he'll get himself killed.
  • The Curator: Right... Let's just hope he doesn't cause any trouble. I'm sure it won't be long until we have to check on him again.

Fourth task[edit | edit source]

Talking to the Curator about A Cultist's Journey[edit | edit source]

First time[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: I've received word that Johanhus has left the Cathedral, but there's been no sign of him leaving Senntisten.
  • The Curator: The last thing we want is him yelling about the Elder Gods and disheartening the troops. Go and sort him out.
  • Player: Yeah, I think I'd better check.

Afterwards[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: Have you been to check on Johanhus yet?
  • Player: Not yet.
  • The Curator: No one has heard from him since he left the Cathedral. Could you go and find him?
  • Player: On my way.

Talking to Johanhus Ulsbrecht at Nodon Front[edit | edit source]

  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: World Guardian, what is it that I have stumbled upon here?
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: It is rife with monstrous abominations, yes, but more than that...
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: There is so much violence. And it's merciless. Indiscriminate.
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: Nobody is being spared. Nobody at all.
  • Player: Do you see now? The Elder Gods don't want your worship, and they would think nothing of wiping you, all of humanity and every race on the planet out.
  • Player: If we are to survive, we need to unite against this threat. That means not just humans - it means everyone.
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: This is not what I expected at all. Not what I wanted at all.
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht: I am getting out of this awful place. Good luck to you.
  • Johanhus Ulsbrecht teleports away.
  • Player: ...

Returning to the Curator and asking about A Cultist's Journey[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: Have you been to check on Johanhus yet?
  • Player: Yes. I found him cowering at the edge of the Nodon Front.
  • Player: It became all too apparent to him that humans were as much at risk as anyone.
  • Player: He got a bit frightened, and decided to head on home.
  • Player: I don't think he likes the Elder Gods much any more.
  • The Curator: I see... We are fortunate that Johanhus is such a coward and a weakling. He has so much anger and hatred, but without any courage.
  • The Curator: Let us hope that no-one with actual drive and courage adopts the mantle of the Elder Gods.
  • The Curator: Thank you for all your help investigating this for me. It will surely make a great addition to my archives.

Talking to the Curator about A Cultist's Journey after A Cultist's Journey tasks[edit | edit source]

  • The Curator: Thank you again for all your help, this will surely make a great addition to my archives.
