Death[edit | edit source]

Attempting the event before speaking to him[edit | edit source]

  • Death: Player, come over here and talk to me before you go any further!

First conversation[edit | edit source]

  • Death: Do you feel that? That force coming from the rift...
  • Death: An energy that feels ancient. Even to me.
  • Player: What is it?
  • Death: I... I have no idea. But whatever it is, I feel compelled to stop it. Would you be willing to aid me?
  • Help death?
    • Yes.
      • Player: What would you have me do?
      • Death: This energy is tearing itself forth from deep beneath Gielinor's surface. We need to disrupt the rift to ensure that whatever is behind it cannot escape.
      • Player: What does Moia have to do with the rift?
      • Death: I do not know, but I fear she may be being used as a conduit - her unique nature of half mahjarrat and half human may make her malleable to this energy. It manipulates her power to draw itself closer.
      • Player: So you are here to claim Moia? Would that not close the rift?
      • Death: It may, but tell me, is that really the solution you believe we should proceed with?
      • Recommend killing Moia?
        • Yes.
          • Death: Interesting. I expected a more heroic response from you, Player. Do you feel the need to talk to someone about it?
          • Player: Actually, that would be quite nice. It turns out adventuring isn't just making cakes and saving missing cats. Recently I've been having this dream-
          • Death: I wasn't suggesting me.
          • Player Oh.
          • (Continues below.)
        • No.
          • Player I didn't actually mean we kill her. I was just suggesting it as an idea. What's that saying? 'No idea is a bad idea'
          • Death: That was a bad idea.
          • (Continues below.)
    • No.
      • Death: A pity. Gielinor may be at stake here; if you reconsider I would gladly accept your help.
  • Death: Anyway, it is not yet Moia's time. There is more to her story yet.
  • Player: What would you suggest we do instead?
  • Death: The rift is an opening that leads to the source if this power. I have created some pillars that can be used to disrupt the rift. If you could use your skills to ensure they remain powered, then it will allow us entry into the rift for a short period of time. Once you enter the rift, search within and find a way to break the source.
  • Player: That sounds an easy enough job for the World Guardian.
  • Death: It isn't that simple - there are monsters escaping. They will try to stop you stabilising the rift, so you will need to deal with them as well. However, I fear even this won't be enough. I never wanted to do this, but I fear I need to call for assistance from my... co-workers is probably the most human word for describing them.
  • Player: You mean the other Guardians of Guthix?
  • Death: Ah, if only it was that simple. No, but you will understand in time. I'll show you everything you need to know in order to help me stabilise the energy coming from the rift.
  • (The tutorial begins.)

Tutorial[edit | edit source]

  • Death: I am pleased you've agreed to help, Player. I'll bring you up to speed on my plan to stabilise this rift so we can get back to our day to day activities. I've built 5 pillars around the rift to help stabilise the energy coming from within. Each of the pillars will randomly be assigned a skill. You'll be able to train: Prayer, Runecrafting, Divination, Magic, Crafting, Summoning, Smithing and Invention. Dealing with the hindrances will reward you with Slayer experience. Should you not wish to gain combat experience, you can talk to me to toggle experience gain off or on for all combat skills. Stabilising at a pillar will increase XP multipliers at the other pillars, encouraging you to move between them for optimal experience gain. There are 5 multiplier stages, these are highlighted by different amounts of energy growing in intensity the higher it climbs.
  • First stage lights up.
  • Multiplier energy state 1.
  • Second stage lights up.
  • Multiplier energy state 2.
  • Third stage lights up.
  • Multiplier energy state 3.
  • Fourth stage lights up.
  • Multiplier energy state 4.
  • Fifth stage lights up.
  • Multiplier energy state 5.
  • Sparkles start to spew forth from the pillar.
  • This pillar has reached the maximum amount of energy and the multiplier will build no further..
  • Death: As you work on a pillar you'll slowly progress towards stabilising the rift. Your progress can be seen via the energy being directed from the pillars towards the centre.
  • A link between the pillar and the rift forms.
  • Death: The more you stabilise, the more the beam will grow in intensity.
  • The link begins to light up.
  • Death: Once it reaches the rift you've fully stabilised it.
  • The link lights up completely.
  • Death: Using a charged Tainted shard will allow you to choose between doubling the experience gained OR halving the time it takes for you to stabilise a rift.
  • The Tainted shard can be charged whilst gaining experience in any skill around RuneScape.
  • Death: And those are the basics. It's time we got to work Player.
  • (Continues with the regular chat options.)

Standard dialogue[edit | edit source]

  • Death: The rift continues to grow stronger with every passing moment. I hope we are strong enough together to stop whatever is behind it.
    • Ask about what is going on here.
      • Ask about the rift.
        • Death: The rift is made up of an ancient energy. It is one that I am unfamiliar with but I feel it is rightly feared. I have constructed these pillars around it to help stabilise the rift. This is where I require your aid. Each pillar requires a different skill to operate, but you will be rewarded for your assistance. As you work on each pillar it will reduce in effectiveness; however, the other pillars will become more effective so you may want to alternate which pillar you are working on. Finally, remember to bring the tainted shard you discovered - this will aid you while stabilising the rift.
        • (Shows previous options)
      • Ask about Moia.
        • (During event) Death: The mahjarrat hybrid, Moia, is sustaining the rift. It is partly her divine heritage, but partly something else... Fear! The rift draws on it, feeds on it. I can sense her torment. If we cannot stop the process in time, all of this fear and power will spill out. Her greatest fear will be loosed upon Gielinior[sic]. I wonder what it could be?
        • (After Lucien fight on last day of event) Death: Moia is free from the torment of the rift. I feel a change in her, whatever she endured whilst trapped within it is beyond me.
        • (Shows previous options)
      • Ask about the tainted shard.
        • Death: That tainted shard you have with you appears to be connected to the rift in some way. The more you hold on to it while training, the more energy it appears to absorb. I believe I can use this energy against the rift itself and allow you to stabilise it quicker or gain more experience while stabilising. Once you leave here, keep it with you to continue to gather more charges for when you return.
        • (Shows previous options)
      • Ask for the tutorial.
        • Player: Can you show me the basics?
        • (Starts the tutorial)
      • Ask about something else.
        • (Shows initial options)
    • Ask about the other riders of the Apocalypse.
      • Ask about War.
        • Death: What can anyone say about War really? He is exactly as you would expect, he hungers for the battle at any moment. In the early days the two of us were a force to be reckoned with. But it has been many an age since we last rode together. My role is one of duty, and War has never been one for rules and regulations.
        • (Returns to the previous options.)
      • Ask about Famine.
        • Death: She is an interesting one. Noble in nature, and while she would never want to admit it she is very much one of us. Famine's upbringing has caused her to find her own path in life, but I think she recognises we are the family she never had. Of course, we're not perfect, but I've seen enough in my time to know that perfect is something for fairy tales. And we are certainly not that.
        • (Returns to the previous options.)
      • Ask about Pestilence.
        • Death: Keep a safe distance from that one, World Guardian. I had hoped the years would have been kind to Pestilence, but it appears he's as angry as ever.
        • Player: What happened between you two?
        • Death: Pestilence took someone before their time. They were a force, very much like yourself, where they were destined to do remarkable things for Gielinor. However, before that could come to pass they encountered Pestilence, where his vehemence for his own situation of eternal curse, compared to this individual, caused him to strike them down. It was not their time.
        • (Returns to the previous options.)
      • Rewatch cutscenes.
        • War arrives.
          • Shows cutscene of War being summoned.

      • I want to ask something else.
        • (Shows initial options.)

      • (If you have no rewards to collect:)
        • Death: I have no rewards to offer you at the moment.
        • (Shows initial options.)
      • (If you have some rewards to collect:)
        • (For personal rewards:)
          • (Without the required space in backpack:)
            • You have 1 corrupted energy to claim but do not have enough space in your backpack to collect them.
            • Death: I have no rewards to offer you at the moment.
          • (With the required space in backpack:)
            • Death returns the corrupted energy that you previously received from the warped chamber.
            • Your reward is placed in your inventory
        • (For community rewards:)
          • (Without the required space in backpack:)
            • Death: I have offered what I can for now, however, there is more I can give. You are currently lacking space in your backpack. Make some room and return to me.
            • (Returns to the previous options.)
          • (With the required space in backpack:)
            • Death: Yes. For your assistance in closing the rift, please accept this as a reward.
            • Your reward is placed in your inventory.
            • For the communities[sic] efforts in stabilising the rift, you receive:
            • - <Reward>
            • (Returns to the previous options.)

      • Toggle combat experience from the event?
        • Receive experience in combat skills.
          • Death: It is done.
          • Now you will now receive experience in Summoning, Magic or Prayer!
          • Death: You can talk to me again to toggle combat experience off, should you wish.
          • (Shows initial options)
        • DO NOT receive experience in combat skills.
          • Death: It is done.
          • Now you will NOT receive experience in Summoning, Magic or Prayer!
          • Death: You can talk to me again to toggle combat experience back on, should you wish.
          • (Shows initial options)
    • I'll leave you to it
      • Death: I will remain here until the rift is dealt with.

Sign of death or portent of death[edit | edit source]

  • Death: Hm...you think that will really stop me when the time comes for your end?

  • Death: Player! Come, talk to me; something is approaching!

Speaking to Death[edit | edit source]

  • Death: Player, stand back[sic] I, Death, with all the power within me call forth War; the second rider of the apocalypse.
  • War appears after being summoned by Death
  • Death: It's good to see you old friend. Something is happening and you know I would never summon you unless I had absolute need.
  • War: THEN LET US FACE IT TOGETHER ONCE MORE FRIEND, IN GLORIOUS COMBAT.
  • Cutscene ends

Standard dialogue[edit | edit source]

  • (War may greet you with any one of the following at random:)
    • (Greeting 1:)
      • War: Greetings.
      • (Continues below.)
    • (Greeting 2:)
      • War: Player, it is good to finally meet you.
      • (Continues below.)
    • (Greeting 3:)
      • War: Hello.
      • (Continues below.)
  • What would you like to say?
    • You know me?
      • War: Death has informed me of some of your triumphs on this world, consider me impressed, Player.
      • Player: Well, I AM the World guardian. I'm here to uphold the will of Guthix and protect this world in whatever way I can.
      • War: Enough of this chatter. My blade thirsts.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • Why did you return?
      • War: It's very rare that Death calls for aid but to his call we must answer. We must help him together, whatever this rift is, it can't be good if Death fears it.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • How are you going to help stop the rift?
      • War: You seen those big beasty demons coming from the rift? Think they're tough stopping Old Boney from stabilising the rift! Ha, that's why you summoned me though, isn't it? See that weapon rack over there? Grab one of my javelins and chuck it at them if they interfere. They won't last long with a few of those flying at their faces.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • Ask more questions.
      • Ask more questions?
        • Tell me a bit about yourself.
          • Player: Tell me a little about yourself?
          • War: I am War, one of the four riders of the apocalypse. Though my time as an actual rider ended years ago with a nice retirement scheme... So I don't have much going on in life at this particular moment.
          • Player: What do you do for fun? Any family?
          • War: No family, I had a partner once... Her name was Peace.
          • Player: That is a lovely name, but... you said once? I don't mean to pry, but what happened?
          • War: Often... life can't grant what the heart wants no matter how much each of us try. We were like fire and ice, peace and war just can't work. I gave up war for her. I gave up everything that meant everything to me for her. But she still slipped from my grasp.
          • Player: I'm sorry to hear that.
          • War: Don't be sorry, never be sorry. Just heed my lesson. If you find something you love, give it everything you've got, otherwise you'll find yourself living with regret if you don't. Fire and ice my friend[sic]
          • (Returns to the initial options.)
        • What do you think of Death?
          • War: Old Boney! What is not to love about him! We've been friends for a long time, I'm probably closer with him than the other riders. Back in my glory days of war and mass slaughter, I used to keep him busy with a torrent of souls. I see since I've given that up he's found himself an office job. BOOOORRRRINNGGG.
          • (Returns to the initial options.)
        • I still don't want to talk to you.
          • War: You see this axe?
          • Player: ...
        • Let's do this!
          • Player: Let's roll some heads!
          • War: THAT'S THE SPIRIT!
          • Death: Where? I call dibs.
          • War: Just a figure of speech, Old Boney.
          • Death: Please don't call me that in front of Player or I'll have to reveal the real meaning behind yours, B.F.G.
          • (Returns to the initial options.)
    • I don't want to talk to you.
      • War: Then why did you talk to me? Do not waste my time.

Famine[edit | edit source]

Summoning Famine[edit | edit source]

Travelling to the event[edit | edit source]

  • Death: Player! Come, talk to me; something is approaching!

Speaking to Death[edit | edit source]

  • Death: Player, stand back[sic] I, Death, with all the power within me call forth Famine; the third rider of the apocalypse.
  • Famine appears after being summoned by Death
  • Famine: It reeks of death on this world...
  • War: AHAHAHAHAHA THAT IS JUST OLD BONEY!
  • Death: Enough with the jokes, War.
  • War: WELCOME FAMINE TO THE GLORIOUS TRIALS AHEAD! IT'S GOING TO BE FUN FIGHT ALONGSIDE YOU ONCE MORE.[sic]
  • Famine: Death, War, I see neither of you have changed one bit. Let's roll some heads like the old times!
  • Cutscene ends

Standard dialogue[edit | edit source]

  • (Famine may greet you with any one of the following at random:)
    • (Greeting 1:)
      • Famine: Yes?
      • (Continues below.)
    • (Greeting 2:)
      • Famine: Tread carefully.
      • (Continues below.)
    • (Greeting 3:)
      • Famine: Get on with it.
      • (Continues below.)
    • (Greeting 4:)
      • Famine: Greetings, Player.
      • (Continues below.)
  • What would you like to say?
    • Who are you?
      • Player: Who are you?
      • Famine: I am Famine. The third rider of the apocalypse.
      • Player: It's an honor to meet you.
      • Famine: The honor is mine, Player. Your deeds are well known to us.
      • Player: Tell me a little about yourself.
      • Famine: It pleases me to hear you're interested in hearing about me. I am an aviansie though have not had contact with any of my kind for as long as I can remember. The aviansie are a noble race, but being a carrion meant I was shunned and thrown out to die. I had nothing, nobody I could turn to... my body was weak so I could not fly or hunt. Starvation and being alone for weeks on end led me closer to the brink of death. But my will to survive was stronger than ever, the burning desire to inflict revenge on those who cast me out was the one thing that kept me going. Eventually I got what I wanted. I found a shipment of food that had been left unattended so to pay them back for what they did I poisoned it. I single handedly took out a village of my own kind without thought.
      • Player: Did you at least take some of the food for yourself to survive?
      • Famine: No. To inflict such an act of revenge, I deserved the death that was drawing closer and closer.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • Why did you return?
      • Famine: It's very rare the riders are together, I'm not one for a family reunion but I couldn't pass up on such an offer.
      • Player: I'm sure you're looking forward to catching up with them all after this.
      • Famine: I'm keen to catch up with War... He's not in the shape he used to be but it's really all about his personality. I've missed him... I've missed them all.
      • Player: Why don't you see them anymore?
      • Famine: I've always walked my path alone and shall continue to do so; nobody will understand me so there isn't point getting into it.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • How are you going to help stop the rift?
      • Famine: It appears you have a zombie problem. Luckily, with my tutorage I will assist you in bringing them down. I can lend you some of my powers for a time, and together we can bring them gluttonous beasts down to size. You'll have to be quick though as we won't have much time. If they reach the pillars, I expect they'll cause you some inconvenience.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • You look a little hungry.
      • Player: You look like you could use a bit to eat?
      • Famine: I am rather peckish. Maybe I'll wait for your corpse to ripen a bit after your death before tucking into your eyeballs first.
      • Player: That seems a little extreme don't you think?
      • Famine: You straight up body shamed me.
      • Player: I'm sorry. Please don't eat my eyes.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • I don't want to talk to you.
      • Famine: Then leave me to my thoughts.

Using items[edit | edit source]

Food[edit | edit source]

  • Food item turns into rotten food
  • Famine: Well, what did you think would happen?

Strange glowing orb (red) or strange glowing orb (vibrating)[edit | edit source]

  • Famine: You've unlocked the next step.
  • Player: Really?
  • Famine: Yes.
  • Player: Like really though? This is the next step?
  • Famine: Why not? I know Mazcab lore.
  • Player: But but...
  • Famine: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA[sic] I'm joking. But I've been asked to give you a message from a hooded stranger... It reads... 'Mod Raven woz ere.'

Other items[edit | edit source]

(One of the following messages is chosen at random:)

  • Nothing interesting happens, but then again... Why would you expect anything to happen? Did do just use things on things all day?
  • No easter eggs here... Or are there in fact easter eggs and this is just a ploy to prevent you from finding them.

Pestilence[edit | edit source]

Summoning Pestilence[edit | edit source]

Travelling to the event[edit | edit source]

  • Death: Player! Come, talk to me; something is approaching!

Speaking to Death[edit | edit source]

  • Death: Player, stand back[sic] I, Death, with all the power within me call forth Pestilence; the fourth and final rider of the apocalypse.
  • Pestilence appears after being summoned by Death.
  • Death: Pestilence, It's been too long.[sic] Let us put our troubles and differences behind us for now...
  • Pestilence: The stone can't be taken back once it's been thrown, Death. That being said, I will provide you with the aid you need.
  • Death: That is all I ask.

Standard dialogue[edit | edit source]

  • (Pestilence may greet you with any one of the following at random:)
    • (Greeting 1:)
      • Pestilence : Don't waste my time, what is it you want?
      • (Continues below.)
    • (Greeting 2:)
      • Pestilence : What is it?
      • (Continues below.)
    • (Greeting 3:)
      • Pestilence : What do you want?
      • (Continues below.)
    • (Greeting 4:)
      • Pestilence : You... smell tasty.
      • (Continues below.)
  • What would you like to say?
    • Who are you?
      • Player: Who are you?
      • Pestilence: *huff*
      • Pestilence: Bah, nothing but pure ignorance from your kind. ...and to think I'm half human. I am Pestilence, one of the riders of the apocalypse, not only burdened with the curse of being a werewolf but forced to remain in wolf form as I'm plagued with disease.
      • Player: Why are you forced to remain a wolf?
      • Pestilence: MORE IGNORANCE. Can you not see my skin rotting? Can you not see the plague that runs through me? If I were to turn to my human form, this disease will kill me in a mere seconds.[sic]
      • Player: Have you been to the doctors for it? Surely there must be a cure.
      • Pestilence: What part of curse do you not understand? YOU'RE BUGGING ME MORE THAN THE FLESH EATING FLEES[sic] I'M BURDENED WITH.
      • Pestilence: *growl*
      • Pestilence bursts into a scratching fit.
      • Player: If I scratch your back will you scratch mine?
      • Pestilence flexes his clawed hands.
      • Pestilence: Deal.
      • Player: On second thoughts...
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • Why did you return?
      • Pestilence: I can't let War get all the glory now, can I? Death and I fell out a while back so I was shocked to hear his call; if he requires our aid then who am I to turn away from a fight? He thinks I have anger issues.
      • Pestilence: *growl*
      • Pestilence: How could he think I have anger issues? How DARE he call me here, expecting to always help in HIS hour of need when he was NEVER there for me.
      • Player: Let's try and focus that inner anger towards dealing with this rift.
      • Pestilence: HOOOOOOOOOOOWLLLLL[sic] ONWARD INTO BATTLE, LET THE PLAGUE MELT FLESH FROM BONE.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • How are you going to help stop the rift?
      • Pestilence: Have you seen those floating eyeballs? Disgusting creatures! Don't stand in their gaze for too long or they'll soon cut you down to size. I've mixed up a concoction in this cauldron, a bile liquid that those seekers won't be able to stand. Grab some, be quick and throw it at them. Ha, we can watch together as they fall to the might of Pestilence.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • I don't want to talk to you.
      • Pestilence : THEN WHY WASTE MY TIME BOTHERING ME IN THE FIRST PLACE?

  • The tainted shard can be recharged by skilling or killing while the rift is present.
  • Select the bonus you would like to receive
    • Stabiliser - halves the time taken to stabilise the rift.

      • The tainted shard pulses at your touch. While charged, the tainted shard will double the XP earned while stabilising the rift.

When skilling after you have already used all your current entrances to warped chamber[edit | edit source]

  • You can attune the pillars for XP, however the rift is currently too unstable for you to enter.
The rift will be stable again tomorrow.

Soulless necromancer[edit | edit source]

When the soulless necromancer appears[edit | edit source]

  • Death: That necromancer doesn't have a soul. Tear the souls from this rift to make him mortal; then I can take him down for good!
  • Soulless necromancer: Rise and fight for me!
  • Soulless unarmoured zombie: BRAINS?

When stabilising a pillar when the zombies appear[edit | edit source]

  • The zombie pushes you out of the way as it comes up through the ground.

When attempting to attack the soulless necromancer or soulless unarmoured zombies[edit | edit source]

  • This zombie doesn't have a soul! Restore it so that Death can take him down!

When attempting to attack soulless armoured zombies[edit | edit source]

  • It appears your attack does not affect this enemy. Try using the soul rift near Death instead.

When Death kills a zombie[edit | edit source]

  • (When killing the soulless unarmoured zombies Death will say one of the following lines at random:)
    • Death: A soul for a soul[sic]
    • Death: All aboard the soul train!
    • Death: And now I will claim you as my own!
    • Death: And this time, stay dead!
    • Death: Back to the grave for you, may you rest easy.
    • Death: Better call soul!
    • Death: Brains? How original.
    • Death: Double kill!
    • Death: Going once.. going twice... souled!
    • Death: How's that for a dose of Death?
    • Death: I got soul, but I'm not a...
    • Death: Rest now.
    • Death: Souled to the highest bidder!
    • Death: Stay put this time!
    • Death: You're at a dead end!

When attempting to tear souls from the rift after the soulless necromancer has been defeated[edit | edit source]

  • Death: There's nothing for you to revive right now, let's not be wasting my precious souls.

Infernal demons[edit | edit source]

When infernal demons appear[edit | edit source]

  • War: Looks like those demons are blocking the connection between the pillars and the rift. Take my javelin and destroy them!
  • The demons are blocking the connection to the rift. Kill them to restore the connection.

When attempting to attack a demon with a standard weapon[edit | edit source]

  • Your current attacking method cannot penetrate the skin of the demon. Try using a javelin from War's weapon rack.

Attempting to stabilise a pillar blocked by a demon[edit | edit source]

  • A force nearby is currently stopping you from stabilising this pillar.

Unwieldly zombies[edit | edit source]

When unwieldly zombies appear[edit | edit source]

  • The ground beneath you begins to rumble and crack.
  • Famine: Careful Player, we have incoming hulking zombies. We can't let them reach the rift! Shrink them down!

Attemping to pop an unwieldly zombies before it fully emerges[edit | edit source]

  • The hulking[sic] zombie cannot be damaged right now.

Popping an unwieldly zombie[edit | edit source]

  • You shrink the hulking[sic] zombie slightly.

Seeker[edit | edit source]

When the seeker appears[edit | edit source]

  • Pestilence: Watch out for that Seeker's gaze! Collect some bile from my cauldron to blind it!

If attempting to blind the seeker before it has started firing[edit | edit source]

  • [The seeker is still charging its gaze and cannot be attacked yet.]
  • The seeker is still charging its gaze and cannot be attacked yet.

If hit by the seeker's gaze[edit | edit source]

  • [The seeker's gaze tears through your body.]

  • If vial of bile is equipped:
    • You throw a vial at the seeker.

If the seeker is not blinded in time[edit | edit source]

  • [The seeker was not taken down in time and exploded everywhere!]
  • The seeker was not taken down in time and exploded everywhere!

Stabilised rift[edit | edit source]

When the rift is stabilised[edit | edit source]

  • Death: The rift has stabilised! Quickly, enter it while you have the chance!
  • [The rift has been stabilised! Enter the rift to disrupt the forces within.]

When attempting to stabilise a pillar while the rift is stabilised[edit | edit source]

  • Death: Player, quickly enter the rift while you have the chance!

Stabilising the rift after the current entrances to the warped chamber have been used up[edit | edit source]

  • Death: That's all for now; if I allowed you to enter the rift, it may result in your death and within there even I may not be able to recover you. Return tomorrow, I expect it will be stable once more then.

Warped chamber[edit | edit source]

After entering the warped chamber[edit | edit source]
  • Death: Player you've[sic] been gifted the power of the Riders of the Apocalypse, hopefully it will help whilst you're inside...
Attempting to loot an urn before disrupting the hands[edit | edit source]
  • A magical force prevents you from breaking the urn. Perhaps you should investigate elsewhere first.
Attempting to set up a cannon[edit | edit source]
  • [As you go to set the cannon up, you feel the icy chill of Death at your shoulder...so you decide against it.]
  • As you go to set the cannon up, you feel the icy chill of Death at your shoulder...so you decide against it.
Attempting to leave without disrupting a hand and looting[edit | edit source]
  • You haven't shattered one of the hands yet. You can only do this while the rift is stabilised.
  • Are you sure you want to leave?
    • Yes.
      • The player leaves the chamber.
    • No.
      • (Dialogue terminates.)
Disrupting a black hand[edit | edit source]
  • (If there are less than eight free slots in backpack:)
    • After closing the rift, you will have an opportunity to break the urns in this room for rewards until the rift destabilises. It is recommended you have at least 8 free spaces in your backpack.
    • Are you sure you want to continue?
      • Yes.
        • (Continues below.)
      • No.
        • (Dialogue terminates.)
  • (If there are black hands remaining:)
    • With the assistance of the riders of the apocalypse, you manage to disrupt the dimensional energy causing one of the hands to shatter.
    • With the assistance of the riders of the apocalypse, you manage to disrupt the dimensional energy causing one of the hands to shatter.
    • 3/2/1 hand(s) remain(s).
    • (Continues below.)
  • (If all black hands have been shattered:)
    • With the assistance of the riders of the apocalypse, you manage to disrupt the dimensional energy causing one of the hands to shatter.
    • As the last hand shatters, the large urn falls revealing some corrupted energy contained within.
    • Corrupted energy (small)/(medium)/(large)/(huge) is placed in your inventory
    • (If the ghost story emote is not already unlocked:)
      • You unlock the Ghost story emote.
    • (Continues below.)
  • The release of energy from the black hands has made the urns around the room safe to touch.
  • Collect from the urns to receive rewards. But be quick, you only have 60/30 seconds until the chamber becomes too unstable and you have to leave.
Attempting to disrupt an additional black hand[edit | edit source]
  • [The hands remain resistant to your power. Return tomorrow to disrupt the portal again.]
  • The hands remain resistant to your power. Return tomorrow to disrupt the portal again.
Attempting to loot during the countdown[edit | edit source]
  • [Wait for it...]
While you are able to loot[edit | edit source]
  • 45 seconds remaining!
  • 30 seconds remaining!
  • 15 seconds remaining!
  • 10 seconds remaining!
  • 5 seconds remaining!
After leaving the warped chamber[edit | edit source]
  • Death: Player, whatever you did inside the rift has caused it to destabilise again and it is resistant to our efforts for now. I will inform you when you can aid me again. Feel free to recharge your tainted shard to help you later on.

Lucien[edit | edit source]

Arrival[edit | edit source]

  • Lucien manifests out of the rift.
  • Lucien: Ah. Daughter.
  • Moia: What? Lucien? It can't be... What power is this.
  • Lucien: DIE AT MY HAND
  • Moia: You're supposed to be dead, what self inflicted necromancy is this?
  • The riders appear.
  • Lucien: Now I am become[sic] Death, the destroyer of worlds.
  • Death: Well, technically speaking, I am in fact Death.
  • Moia: Player, get back! We must bring him down together, the riders will aid us.
  • Famine: You have my staff...
  • Pestilence: ...and you have my bow...
  • War: AND MY AXE!
  • Cutscene ends.

During the fight[edit | edit source]

Channelling the rift[edit | edit source]

  • Lucien is immune to damage whilst he channels power through the rift, try attacking the pillar he is channelling from.

Curse[edit | edit source]

Inflicting the curse[edit | edit source]
  • Lucien has turned you into a skeleton! Move away to break the curse!
Shockwave[edit | edit source]
  • Lucien: Crumble the undead!
  • (If hit in skeleton form:)
    • You didn't move far enough away from Lucien to avoid his shockwave.
  • (If escaped far enough in skeleton form:)
    • You break free from the curse!

Summoning skeletons[edit | edit source]

  • Lucien raises skeletons from below! Try not to get caught by their explosions.

Summoning undead hands[edit | edit source]

  • Hands begin to grope your feet! Watch out!
  • (If groped by the hands:)
    • Undead hands rip out of the ground and drag you under.
  • (If protected by the barrier:)
    • Moia's protective barrier prevents the hands from getting a hold on you.

Summoning unwieldly zombies[edit | edit source]

  • Lucien raises hulking zombies from the ground, watch out!

Overhead dialogue[edit | edit source]

Variant 1[edit | edit source]
  • Lucien: Do not deny me my revenge!
  • Moia: YOU. WILL. FALL.
Variant 2[edit | edit source]
  • Lucien: Do you see, gods of Gielinor?! Do you need more proof than this?!
  • Moia: You attempted godhood once and look where it got you, yet your ego persists.
Variant 3[edit | edit source]
  • Lucien: I bring darkness!
  • Moia: You don't know darkness Lucien. I have slowly mastered the art of shadow magic. I will show YOU the darkness.
Variant 4[edit | edit source]
  • Lucien: You do not defy fate, Moia! For we have woven the events of your life.
  • Moia: You are no father of mine, you're a hateful, disgusting waste of space.

After defeating Lucien[edit | edit source]

Cutscene[edit | edit source]

  • Lucien falls down to his knees.
  • Congratulations! Lucien has been slain, for now... Some loot has been added to your backpack, as well as his staff. As you touch it, you unlock the override in your wardrobe.
  • You receive some corrupted energy for helping take down Lucien.
  • Lucien: NOOOOOO THIS CANNOT BE...
  • Moia: It's over...
  • Lucien: You're a waste of life. You are no daughter of mine.
  • War: Even on the cusp of death he's still barking on.
  • Moia: Finish him, Player.
  • The player activates the pillars and kills Lucien with a magical bolt, ending the cutscene.

After subsequent fights[edit | edit source]

  • Congratulations! Lucien has been slain, for now... Some loot has been added to your backpack.
  • (If the current spawn hasn't yet been defeated:)
    • You receive some corrupted energy for helping take down Lucien.
  • (If your backpack is full:)
    • You had no room in your inventory to claim your reward. Talk to Death or Moia to laim.

After failing the fight by taking over 15 minutes[edit | edit source]

  • Too much time has passed and Lucien's manifestation has been dragged back into the rift... For now. He has left behind some loot.
  • (If the current spawn hasn't yet been defeated:)
    • You receive some corrupted energy for helping take down Lucien.

Talking to Famine[edit | edit source]

  • Famine: Greetings, Player. What an honor it was to fight alongside you.
  • Player: The honor[sic] is mine.
  • Famine: Though I am quite puzzled at the spectacle that just took place. To my knowledge, Lucien was dead. It is not unknown for necromancers to bring themselves back from the dead but that takes an incredible amount of power. And for a mahjarrat, frankly it is impossible. Player, I believe there is a greater force at work here and we need to be ready when it arrives.
  • Player: Do you know what it is?
  • Famine: I do not. I now understand why Death feared this and why we were called. This worries me deeply.
  • Player: Well whatever it is, we'll be ready once more.
  • Famine: I admire your optimism. Take care and remain strong... ...should you ever need me, Death will know how to find me.
  • (Shows the normal dialogue options.)

Talking to Moia[edit | edit source]

  • Select an option
    • What was that about?
      • Moia: I'm still trying to process this myself. To my understanding, when I was ripped up into the rift, whatever power it was could see inside my head. Bringing some of my nightmares to life. Whilst I was under the rifts[sic] effects I could hear him calling to me, taunting me like he had done all the years he was alive. Over and over him telling me how much of a failure I am to him. Even with the knowledge that he did in fact die at the ritual site that day, there is no escape from him for me. The world is a strange place, Player. There is no telling what forces are at play here.
      • (Returns to the previous options.)
    • Can I rewatch the cutscenes?
      • Moia: Of course.
      • Which cutscene would you like to rewatch?
        • Lucien returns.
          • Moia: Here you go.
          • (The cutscene plays.)
        • Lucien's demise.
          • Moia: With pleasure
          • (The cutscene plays.)
    • Do you have any rewards for me?
      • If you don't have rewards to claim:
        • Moia: I do not!
      • If you have unclaimed rewards:
        • Moia: I sure do!

Talking to Pestilence[edit | edit source]

  • Pestilence: What is it you want, Player?
  • Player: I wanted to ask what you thought of helping take down Lucien?
  • Pestilence: Pathetic. Death couldn't handle that?
  • Player: Didn't Death save you from Lucien during all of that?
  • Pestilence: GRRRR. I HAD a handle on things. He shouldn't have interfered, his life was MINE for the taking.
  • Player: Not from where I was stading, it looked like he almost had you.
  • Pestilence: WHAT BUSINESS IS IT OF YOURS? This fight. IT*S OVER. Be on your way human before you find my teeth clamped onto your shoulder.
  • Player: Whoah now... There's a good dog...
  • Pestilence: Did you... No... HOW DARE YOU... You...
  • Player: I'm off now.
  • (Shows the normal dialogue options.)

Talking to War[edit | edit source]

  • War: TOO EASY! WHEN IS THE REAL CHALLENGE?
  • Player: What did you think about all that?
  • War: Ahaha it was good to come out of retirement for that, but I can't help but feel like it was a warmup. For sure there is a greater force at work here... as formidable as Lucien once was, that was not him. He was under the control or mindset of someone or something else.
  • Player: Like what?
  • War: If I knew I'd be riding off to find it, I haven't had this fun in a long time. It's safe to say i'm more than happy to come out and help out more as I've missed this.
  • (Shows the normal dialogue options.)

Dying at the event[edit | edit source]

The player respawns at Death's Hourglass as a ghost.
  • Death: You do not fall today, fight on!
The player returns to human form.

Contacting Moia with Communication device[edit | edit source]

  • Player: Moia? Can you hear me?
  • You hear a distant scream.
  • Player: Moia!

Veronica[edit | edit source]

  • Veronica: Goodness, is everything okay over there?
  • Player: Oh yeah, just an evil power that I'm working with Death to stop causing harm to Gielinor.
  • Veronica: You adventurers, you're so funny! I know what's really going on, this is one of those 'pranks' I've heard so much about, right?
  • Player: Umm, what?
  • Veronica: Don't play your silly games with me; it's pretty obvious really. Just look at all those over the top props. Let me give you some advice - play it more subtle next time.
  • Player: Oh yeah. You got me! Ha...hahaha...HAHAHAHAHAHA!

War's weapon rack[edit | edit source]

Take from[edit | edit source]

Before starting the event:

  • Death: Player, come over here and talk to me before you go any further!

After starting the event:

  • Before War is summoned:
    • You should speak to Death before touching these.
  • After War is summoned:
    • If inventory is full:
      • You do not have any space in your backpack to take from the weapon rack right now.
    • If inventory is not full:
      • You take one of War's javelins from the weapon rack.
    • If War's javelin has already been taken:
      • You already have one of War's javelins.

Leaving the event with War's javelin[edit | edit source]

  • War: I'm sorry, Player, I cannot let you leave with my javelins. I will take them off your hands for now but feel free to get some more when you return.

Cauldron[edit | edit source]

Fill vial[edit | edit source]

Before starting the event:

  • Death: Player, come over here and talk to me before you go any further!

After starting the event:

  • Before Pestilence is summoned:
    • You should speak to Death before touching this.
  • After Pestilence is summoned:
    • If inventory is full:
      • You do not have any space in your backpack to take a vial right now.
    • If inventory is not full:
      • As you dip your hand into the cauldron a vial of bile magically appears!
    • If vial of bile has already been taken:
      • You already have a vial of bile.

Leaving the event with a vial of bile[edit | edit source]

  • Pestilence: That vial is far too dangerous to let you take it away with you. I have taken it off your hands for now but you can get more upon your return.
