Topaz bolts (e) detail.png

Enchanted red topaz bolts are steel bolts tipped with enchanted red topaz. Red topaz bolts can be enchanted into enchanted red topaz bolts through the spell Enchant Crossbow Bolt (Red Topaz) by a player with level 29 Magic. The spell enchants 10 red topaz bolts at a time.

Enchanted red topaz bolts have a 5% chance to activate the Down to Earth enchantment. Upon activation the target's Magic level is reduced by 2 and damage by 1%. Caps at 10 Magic levels and 5% damage. The magic damage debuff lasts for 2 minutes, subsequent activations will add new stacks but not refresh existing ones.

This effect can be triggered with auto attacks and abilities. Abilities will only consume bolts in PvP. Multi-target abilities such as ricochet can trigger the effect separately on secondary targets. Abilities that hit multiple times such as rapid fire have a chance to trigger it on each hit separately.

The chance of the special attack occurring is increased to 7% upon the completion of the elite Seers' Village achievements.

The chance of the special attack occurring is increased to 6% with the Ranged cape perk, and a further 8.4% with both Seer's tasks and the skillcape.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • On 23 February 2010, a bug was leaked in which one could duplicate enchanted bolts. The bug was patched on the same day and many players were banned for abusing it.
  • These bolts were untradeable when released, but a hidden update in 2007 made them tradeable.
