Template talk:Under Construction

This talk page is for discussing the Template:Under Construction page.

I propose that this template be used on articles that people want to write up but need to do so over several sessions. It also needs one of those {{shortcut} } tag thingys. Opinions? Shadowdancer 01:52, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Recent rollback[edit source]

It's countereffective to say "do not edit this article; it is not complete". If something isn't finished, all editors are encouraged to improve it. Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 07:35, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Doesn't "Under construction" mean "someone is in the process of creating this article?" Therefore, if you're creating an article, why do you want people messing with it before they can see you're full intent? When I hear under construction I don't neccesarily think incomplete, but rather in the process of being completed and that the creator still has more to contribute. I thought that incomplete articles where the creator had no more to contribute were marked as stubs. I guess this comes down to different opinions of what it means for an article to be "under construction." I, for one, find it greatly frustrating to have people changing my articles and saying that they are wrong while I'm making them. -- Couchpotato99 07:41, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
To say "don't touch" is against the idea of Wikia as all are encouraged to participate. My interpretation of the UC template is that the information on a listed article is not guaranteed to be accurate. And as I learned from Wikipedia, don't fall in love with your edits or articles as someone is bound to come along and change what they don't like. There is a difference in something being wrong and there being a conflict in ideas. If you like an article one way and someone likes it another way, you should take it to the talk page and discuss each styles merits and shortcomings. Okay, I agree with everything you said about not falling in love with your articles. But you're saying that the only thing it means when the Under Construction template is put up is that the article might not be accurate? What if it no one is working on it, but it's just innacurate? It doesn't make sense to use the under construction template if someone is not actively working on it. Again, I guess this is just different opinions on what this template should mean. -- Couchpotato99 17:00, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
I made this template to mark articles which were being worked on over a short term period of time, such as a day or two. I didn't intend for it to be used as a "do not touch this} type of marker at all. Shadowdancer 17:11, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Stretch Landscape[edit source]

I think it's a bit silly that the template stretches downwards. I think it should probably stretch to the right or landscape. I'm going to try to change it. Cheers, Chicken7 07:47, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Covered up words[edit source]

For this template, when the marked article is loading, the tag looks normal, but then some of the words are covered by the image, like this: [1] Is this just my computer? White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 23:13, 18 March 2008 (UTC)

Ok, for me there is no overlap on Firefox 2.0 and IE 6.0 even when changing browser width. Chrislee33 00:01, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
Weird. Well, on my computer, it only overlaps this and {{VfD}}. I guess it's just my computer. White partyhat old.png C Teng talk 20:35, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
