Template talk:Dropping monsters list

This talk page is for discussing the Template:Dropping monsters list page.

Does the new InfoBox Template format not send correct monster level data to pages for items using the Dropping Monsters list template correctly?

Example: Dragon mace is dropped by Glacors but the Glacor's combat level data is not transmitted to the dragon mace page correctly. This appears to be the case for many monsters in the item lists.

Is this caused by a difference in terms? The monster infobox entry just says 'level' whereas the Dropped monster list template seems to be looking for 'Combat_level'?

How can I help with changing this over? Epass (talk) 23:45, January 16, 2017 (UTC)

PvM vs Skilling[edit source]

Unchecked brutish dinosaurs are obtained from Slayer, yet when I try to use the template it lists brutish dinosaurs as though they require a Hunter level. How can I specify whether a drop is obtained from PvM or skilling? Jampolo 00:45, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

It's done automatically based on the page and the dropsline used on the page. Someone had used the wrong dropsline for some reason. It should be fixed now. Seers headband 2 chathead.png Elessar2 (talk) 07:15, 13 August 2020 (UTC)

Item Name[edit source]

According to the documentation, the item name parameter is required and defaults to an empty value. However in my experience it's the exact opposite. Without arguments the item name defaults to the page name, which would be the item name anyway unless referring to variants such as potion doses. Was the module updated at some point to function this way with the documentation of such a change forgotten, or is it bugged in a way that's actually beneficial? For example in the event an item's name is changed, a missing item name argument would update the template to the new page name whereas a specified item name argument would have to be manually updated for each affected item.

Should the template description be updated to include this information? Currently it reads incorrectly, but if this isn't the intended function I didn't want to go changing it based on its current behavior on the off chance it's not meant to function without an item name argument. It's been intentional behavior since 22 October 2018, so, yeah, it's just outdated documentation. Besides, who reads that stuff anyways? :wowee: MrDew (talk) 01:18, 13 December 2020 (UTC)
