quest complete[edit source]

Completed the walkthrough. Added some images and did some minor wikifying. The guide is complete although some cleanup is still needed. The machine part could do with some images and tables instead of text and so on. At least the guide is up now. --Miw 22:27, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Other fansite quest guides[edit source]

Other sites listed here (on talk pages) as resources:

  • to make this guide more comprehensive
  • to improve quality of our information
  • to check that nothing here has been copied outright from other sites - RuneScape:Copyrights
  • sometimes for new quests, to see when and which sites have their guides up; if this info is timely

4 guides up so far

I think for us to have other sites is foolish. One person can check and fix ours instead of putting the links up. The time spent adding all the links, our article could be amazingScythe.png Atlandy
Thanks Atlandy, are you volunteering to be the "one person (to) check and fix ours" and make it "amazing"? I made only a very few edits on this one. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. Chrislee33 05:18, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for [i]copying[/i] the links. It's always useful to see if the wiki approach works (faster response). This one was not record speed, but still quite reasonable. --Miw 07:51, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Boost?[edit source]

Is it possible to use boost for this quest? Piekid70 19:07, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

Requirements[edit source]

Is it possible to finish this quest without starting Tree Gnome Village?--Jampolo 17:32, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

You cannot even start this without starting it. Frozen Jese (Talk) 15:35, March 25, 2012 (UTC)

Trivia[edit source]

I find that several of the bullets in the trivia section of this quest are bogus. For example:

  • When a player meets Longramble, they will ask him, "Mr Longramble, I presume?". It is a reference to the quotation Dr Livingstone, I presume?, when H. M. Stanley met with David Livingstone in Tanzania.
  • During the cutscene with the two bird guards they talk about "the red button" and how they are not supposed to push it. This is a reference to the movie "Men in black" where Will Smith is told by his mentor not to push the red button in their car.
  • When talking to the Spirit Tree, it will call you the "Tree Whisperer" a possible reference to the man called the "Dog Whisperer"(2004) or the film "The Horse Whisperer"(1998)
  • Gianne Jr. mentions that he couldn't find the coordinates of the delivery to Longramble the explorer on Doogle Maps (since his maps are written on dried doogle leaves). This is a reference to Google Maps.

I hardly think these count as a references.

  • "Mr Longramble, I presume?" isn't a reference, people say this all the time. It's a common phrase. The makers of "Tanzania" didn't invent it.
  • "The red button" isn't a reference to Men In Black, if anything, it's a reference to every movie ever made with a red button in it. Everyone know's not to push the red button, reguardless of what movie they may have seen it in. It's just common knowledge, not a reference.
  • "Doogle Maps" I don't recall anyone every saying "Doogle maps" in the quest. He simply said his maps had been drawn on dried doogle leaves. Unless anyone has evidence that "Doogle Maps" was ever uttered in the quest, I think this is merely coincidence.
  • "Tree Whisperer" again, probably not a reference. A horse whisperer or ghost whisperer etc. is a common way to describe a person capable of comunicating with otherwise mute beings. It's another common phrase, not a reference.

I figured it'd be best to ask for more oppinions on this before I decide to delete them. Would you agree that these are not appropriate for the the trivia section?

The Mr. Longramble I presume is an OBVIOUS reference to Dr. Livingstone. Longramble is an explorer, and as was Livingstone and they were both found in very odd locations, and that phrase was coined by Stanley. Doogle Maps is an obvious joke about Google Maps (he does say it). Tree Whisperer, you are right about. There's also Ghost uh yeah, your right about that one, but hey, it sounds good. The RED BUTTON one is NOT from Men In Black, its been around waaaaaaaay longer than that. Hope that clears some stuff up for ya =) 03:48, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

I just finished the quest and Aluft Jr says something something Doogle Maps, after which our character asks Doogle Maps? And then Aluft Jr explains they're some maps drawn on doogle leaves. It's definitely a Google Maps reference. Anon 04:07, September 20, 2018 (UTC)

Value of Ten[edit source]

How am I supposed to have a value of 10 as a single shape? One of my solutions requires it. (yellow triangle, red circle) Frozen Jese (Talk) 13:28, March 25, 2012 (UTC)

Oh wait, it's an orange pentagon. :P Frozen Jese (Talk) 13:29, March 25, 2012 (UTC)

Length[edit source]

Why is this considered a "Long" quest? I think medium describes it much more accurately - I just did it and it only took about half an hour. It's definitely not as long as other quests that are classified as Long.

Bloom Bug[edit source]

In the final cutscene, having bloom turned on causes everything on screen to appear black and white except the chatbox. This is similar to the bug in A Soul's Bane.
