Salve Amulet[edit source]

Can someone check to see if the Salve Amulet or Crumble Undead is effective against this creature?--ItsMrPants 22:03, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Hmm... I have both the Salve Amulet and the Salve Amulet (e), along with being able to cast Crumble Undea, and I would try it for you, but I haven't fully completed the miniquest =\ (darn that 78 Slayer...). I'm assuming they would work, this this is made of bones, so I assume it's Undead. Nonetheless, somebody should check Smile Thanks. --Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 22:31, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, I'd be happy to check it myself once the six-day wait for it to respawn is over. Still, if anyone happens to be in a position where they can fight this monster, let us know if the usual undead weaknesses apply to it.--ItsMrPants 23:07, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
Agreed. Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 23:11, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

Alright, then. My initial testing has determined that salve amulets have no effect upon this creature. I would imagine that Crumble Undead is equally as ineffective.--ItsMrPants 19:02, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I also used the salve amulet. My 'normal' max would be 24, with the salve 28; I saw plenty of 24s but nothing higher. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 19:25, 19 August 2009 (UTC)
Sounds like an oversight, although I've ceased to expect any better from Jagex. Concerned kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 19:35, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

I was wondering about the same thing, Crumble Undead is easily tested, Salve Amulet would always remain speculative, but my guess would be that if one works so does the other. Oh, and I added a title to this section, hope nobody minds that.--Tharkon 23:27, January 1, 2011 (UTC) Trying to use Crumble Undead brings up the following message: "This spell only affects skeletons, zombies, ghosts and shades." --Tharkon 23:38, January 1, 2011 (UTC)

Since most of here seem to agree it is not undead, and it's better to have a missing weakness than a false weakness, I'm going to remove it until it is confirmed to work. The story also sort of confirms its a construct and not undead. Talk to meTHARKONMy adventurer's log 14:50, June 26, 2011 (UTC)

Hitpoints[edit source]

The First form actually has 350 i examined it =P also maxes 33 too

Reward[edit source]

what is the reward for killing it?

So far, only the reward for killing it as part of the quest is known (Bonesack(e), 10k Slayer and 7k Hitpoints experience). The rewards may be different for subsequent kills.--ItsMrPants 01:50, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
I assume it'll be like Bork; for him, you get 5k Slayer XP after the first battle, and 500 XP for every battle after the first. But I guess we'll just have the wait till next week to find out =P Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 04:44, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Slayer task[edit source]

I wonder if this creature counts as skeleton task? --Bp vital 12:17, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

According to Monster Examine it does not. Will upload the picture in a moment. --Tharkon 04:03, January 9, 2011 (UTC)

Possible vandalism[edit source]

I believe the edit made from on 07:58, 11 August 2009, was subtle vandalism. It makes the Skeletal horror seem easy to kill when in fact it is rather dangerous. I also believe the advice given is designed to get players killed rather than help them. Thus I am reverting this edit. If, however, I am wrong, I apologize to the poster, although they should have logged in, rather than hiding behind an IP address. Of course, they fact that they did this is further evidence that this edit might have been dodgy. --Whiznatery 13:43, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Use Black mask -> Skeletal Horror = ???[edit source]

Just a random thought... kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 15:11, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Hmmm... haven't tried that yet. I'm currently trying to get a black mask like crazy (while slaying), so when I get my slayer up to 73 for a boost to aquanites (Wild pie), I'll get the last 2 bones (wyvern, aquanite), and test it out with the black mask I'm SURE I'll get Smile Wish me luck. Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 21:30, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

In any case this would only work if you got skeletons assigned as your slayer task. Since the black mask boosts only work when on slayer tasks, not on things that also give slayer exp.--Tharkon 23:19, January 1, 2011 (UTC)

Possible tactic?[edit source]

High mage attack gear and a freezing spell such as ice burst with magic prayer? Would that work? You wouldn't get hit once since it can only attack mage and melee...? JaydenB 13:34, 13 August 2009 (UTC)

Another possible tactic: (As of this writing I'm 82 attack/def with 89 strength, and 89 hp, and yes, I did this just before writing it.)

Verac set, super set, bunyip. Pray mage until both arms are off, then pray melee. I just did this myself, only using 1 dose of the set and it got 2 limbs back (second arm and tail)...and I didn't need food either (If anyone wants to know other items, barrows gloves, bandos boots, salve ammy [heard it helped, didn't seem to that much] and sw cape. Oh, and yeah, I was on Accurate style with leech melees)

Monte Python[edit source]

Should there be a reference in there somewhere to the sketch in Monty Python and the Holy Grail where King Arthur fights the Black Knight? I could be wrong, but it seems a bit like that fight scene... 09:24, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

I never saw that movie, but Jagex is already referring to the Holy Grail when you fight the Black Knight Titan. It probably would be a bit double, but I don't know. --Tharkon 23:22, January 1, 2011 (UTC)

When once a week?[edit source]

Does once a week mean 7 days after the last battle or once a week after a Wednesday reset? See Time for other event occurances. Chrislee33 06:02, September 7, 2009 (UTC)

It is one week after the last battle. Similiar to Tears of Guthix, going to the Fur 'n' Seek quest journal entry will tell how days and/or hours to next fight. Chrislee33 07:12, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

Limb image + examine texts?[edit source]

I just thought of this whilst taking it on just now... Maybe we could have an image of each limb that gets ripped off the Horror with the two examine texts each one has.. one in the battlefield as an NPC and again in the inventory.

I have the Examine text for the right arm (as an item), "What is it with me and picking up severed hands?", the Examine text for the Tail as an item: "A sad, sorry but fairly restless tail." and the same Tail an NPC in the battlefield: "I wonder if it'd make a nice pet... Probably not."

If anyone agrees with my idea, maybe it'd be worth getting screenshots, and examine texts, then adding them to the article? Black cavalier.png Zenihdrol Tribal top (blue).png 03:58, November 4, 2009 (UTC)

I added the examine texts to the articles covering the arms) and Tail. --Tharkon 03:59, January 9, 2011 (UTC)

Objects in the image may be bigger than they appear[edit source]

I think that the image sould not have trancparany. Otherwise you can't see how big it actualy is.Cabbage detail.png Dockywho Talk Cabbage detail.png 20:35, December 15, 2009 (UTC)

XP[edit source]

"Every subsequent fight after will reward you with 1,250 Slayer experience and 1,000 Prayer experience" .. do this weekly for 20 years and you will be level 99! Rich Farmbrough, 11:46 6 March 2010 (GMT).

Limbs as items?[edit source]

Should we create articles about em? I just examined the tail and it is "A sad, sorry but fairly restless tail." Coelacanth0794 02:43, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

Level glitch?[edit source]

I noticed, as I just literally finished the Skeletal Horror off, that it's levels did not decrease after it's limbs and tail had been successfully collected and buried. In which I mean it remained at 320 combat throughout the whole fight. I do not have any print screens, but I'm sure someone else can get them or look into it.

Yeah, I saw the combat level stay at 320 as well. Kinda weird.  Haertyew Talk Agility cape equipped.png 21:58, March 2, 2011 (UTC)

I just fought it as well and had the same thing happen Teh alch 00:00, March 4, 2011 (UTC)

This is likely new as I saw the levels were still decreasing last month. I even took screenshots of Monster Examine 2 months ago. Talk to meTHARKONMy adventurer's log 18:27, March 4, 2011 (UTC)

Added sources/appearances[edit source]

According to the Cthulhu Mythos one of the forms of Nyarlathotep (The crawling chaos) is "The Skeletal Horror this avatar of Nyarlathotep is decribed as a twelve-foot-tall living skeleton with enormous claws and the head of a human embryo. I would not be suprised at all if this creature that we helped construct is yet another Lovecraft referance. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 02:00, 8 May 2011 (UTC).

From what I can find on images so quickly I don't see any resemblance. Talk to meTHARKONMy adventurer's log 15:02, June 26, 2011 (UTC)

You will not as this deity has over 1,000 forms, and is most commonly shown as his form "The crawling chaos", or as a tall slender man. it would be a sutble and obscure referance indeed, but certainly a possible one. his is also mentioned as one that wears many masks (I think of the black masks) and as the most influencial of the old ones. I trule feel this may be the case, any idea what mod worked on this quest? I personally do not, but if it's the one that worked on the sea slug quest which is already confirmed to be based off of a Lovecraft tale, then this would add further support. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 06:14, September 29, 2011 (UTC).

Not sure if it's indicative but announcements were posted by Mod Ash for Rag and Bone Man and Slug Menace, and by Mod Maylea for Fur 'n' Seek. Sea Slug is too long ago, so not on the forums anymore. Talk to meTHARKONMy adventurer's log 12:18, September 29, 2011 (UTC)

EoC[edit source]

Is it just me or did Jagex overlook the skeletal horror for EoC?  I was just able to finish him off in 5 hits, and his HP bar looked about empty from the start. FearTheMedia (talk) 21:11, November 26, 2012 (UTC)

More Vandalism?[edit source]

There's some more vandalism here. It says the habitat is in Michigam. I would change it back but I don't know anything about the Skeletal Horror. --Runeon12 (talk) 23:42, January 15, 2013 (UTC)

Someone made a post about it yesterday on I corrected the mistake, but vandalised again, most likely a redditor, to keep the joke alive. I commented with the vandals' IPs in teh thread. Hopefully it'll deter people. Fs5lj.pngSlyptalk 14:43, January 17, 2013 (UTC)

XP table past level 99[edit source]

The table for slayer xp past level 99 can be added to, at 102 slayer the xp was 12875 which shows the 125 xp per level continues. Degenret01 (talk) 02:58, June 14, 2017 (UTC)
