Untitled[edit source]

These are very very tough. After several variations of equipment I eventually settled on full rune/fury/whip/elemental shield, with 10 prayer pots (4), 2 super attack pots, ectophial (can't be too careful), lunar staff (faster transport there) and rest sharks. Protect from melee constantly I was able to kill about 30 with that inventory. Level 102 combat. --Eucarya Talk 19:39, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Not only that, this wyvern drops really bad items after a tough fight e.g a Black axe. Dragon chainbody.pngEmosworldSysop crown.svg 22:19, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Do skeletal wyvern's drop dragonic visages more often than any other dragon?--Pkthis 21:00, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

They seem to drop less often from what I've seen but not too sure. --Glass of water 08:52, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Salve[edit source]

I'm like 80% sure it doesn't work on these things. Anyone else try it? --Wowbagger421 04:35, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

it doesn't but have you tried salve amulet (e)? Johnjack922 22:44, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

The Salve Amulet and (e) variant does not function against Skeletal Wyverns. I have a rant on the official forums about this.Planeshifted 22:46, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
The Skeletal Wyverns aren't classified as Undead (the Salve Amulet and Salve Amulet (e) don't work) or as Dragons (the Dragon Slayer gloves don't work. AdamchromeTalk Contribs #Agility-icon.png 13:28, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

NPOV[edit source]

There is a blurb about the "best" method of killing these. I think it should be the removed. Planeshifted 18:13, 24 June 2008 (UTC)

It IS the best method of killing them...that's like saying we should remove guides on how to kill any monsters. Maha Nadihan 02:26, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Okay, fine. we should remove guides because they do not carry a neutral point of view.Planeshifted 03:26, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
That's kind of ridiculous... If the information is useful to those reading the article or playing RuneScape, then it has a place in the article. Deleting it on the sole grounds of "guides and tips don't give a nuetral point of view" is just silly. RuneScape:Ignore all rules Dark cavalier.png Regabuh (talk) (contribs) 04:17, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
So which is it? NPOV only applies in what situations? I mean, guides by nature are biased in the first place.Planeshifted 06:20, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Well, in my opinion, NPOV just means to report information as is, ie, without purposefully trying to direct the reader's influece... For example, in the Pure article, there should be no comments like "making a pure is the best way to train" or "pures are cowards in combat" or anything like that (obviously it wouldn't be so blatant, but that's an example)... That would be a NPOV violation. However, things like "it is recommended to start your first attack with poison" or "slashing attacks should be used against these creatures", I would consider to be fine. Guides and tips as you said are going to be slightly biased, but in some cases there IS a best way to approach a situation, which I wouldn't consider against the NPOV. If there is a best way to attack a monster, as opposed to a long drawn out fight that drains food, then I know I would like to read about it in the wiki. Dark cavalier.png Regabuh (talk) (contribs) 21:09, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Also, the wiki pratically wouldn't exist if EVERY KIND of guide applied to NPOV, think about that. Quest point cape detail.png Brux Talk 06:08, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Since the best method information has been removed, why is this still NPOV challenged??? And for the record, I would like to know the best method for killing monsters. That's the entire point of a guide. If I wanted to flail around blindly, I wouldn't read guides. The real issue is, is the method listed as best actually best? Mamabear47 22:52, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

What was the deleted best method ? Iban's staff rocks ! Urssaff talk 14:02, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

I have no idea what was listed as "best" wyvern killing method in this wiki but from what I've found this guide on's forums is hands down the "best". ~kytti khat 21:51, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Deflect Missiles at Wyverns[edit source]

The only way they can hit you if your six squares away is a ranged attack, right? They seem to be hitting through Deflect Missiles, though. Do you think this is intentional, or a bug? --ItsMrPants 05:10, December 10, 2009 (UTC)

Nope, not anymore - That used to be the case, however Jagex nerfed them and I believe it's now impossible to do that: Source - I'm there right now |-.-| 21:46, February 3, 2010 (UTC) Clubmeber

I think they 'un-nerfed' them, as on my last Wyvern task, I managed to kill 10 wyverns with deflect missiles, without taking damage from their ice-breath, up until they got tolerant. I know they DID nerf the wyverns because 3 wyvern tasks ago they kept hitting me with ice-breath, but now either the wyverns got stupid enough to stop using ice-breath at a distance, or they un-nerfed them. Should I get some proofs before updating the article or should I do it right away? Quest point cape detail.png Brux Talk 13:59, March 30, 2010 (UTC)
Sakes alive, you're right! They are no longer using their ice breath over long distances.--ItsMrPants 22:48, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

Lapalok's advice[edit source]

I asked Lapalok for advice for my task, and he told me they are hard to hit with range, and weak to slash. But they drop ranged equipment, and the article says they're weak to crush. Is Lapalok just wrong? I'd double check what he told me, but it seems I only have the option to ask for advice when I'm assigned the task? Stewbasic 04:30, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

- I believed the article initially, and brought a berserker necklace + obby mace and did decent, but whip is blowing it out of the water, I think the article is wrong saying it's weak to crush

Body Body[edit source]

According to someone on the talk page of said item, it can soak up the frosty breath of the wyvern. If this is true, it should be tested, and something put on to the article. Rank: 315 Elysian Aura One day it will be mine! 01:59, May 28, 2010 (UTC)

I had a quick check and found that a Body Body or Body Helmet does not soak up the icy breath. Which is a shame, because it'd be a lot easier. Zigzagzigal 15:55, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

are they worth it??[edit source]

i am lvl 112 and juts got a wyvern task and wobndering shud i not cancel it next time..

Level 4 clue scroll[edit source]

Does anyone know if these drop level 4 clue scroll? If you get a level 4 clue scroll, pleasee inform us, thanks. 11:21, August 7, 2010 (UTC)

Which Prayer?[edit source]

There is a major conflict in the article over which prayer to use. First paragraph says to pray magic then the third says pray range and use prayer gear. This to me is two contradictory statements. Can someone clarify this section. Quest.png Darrik Ash US serv.svg HS ALDarklight detail.png 11:50, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

There were a few problems with that section - repeating bits, conflicting info, etc. I made an edit to make it better but anyone feel free to change it if they feel i got something wrong Henneyj 00:24, August 15, 2010 (UTC)
I just edited the hunting methods section and hopefully it is now much cleaner and clear enough for anybody to start killing these. AdamchromeTalk Contribs #Agility-icon.png 19:50, October 22, 2010 (UTC)

Warning[edit source]

is there any way to toggle the warning about wyverns being a dangerous area? i've checked the lumbridge doomsayer at least half a dozen times and there's nothing about the asgarnian dungeon. :( --nekobawt 11:01, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

I found out prayers don't work on them. I prayed range it hit through I prayed mage it hit same damage through prayer and I turned prayer off it hit the same as with it on so i see no reason to wast money on p pots n praying cause it don't work for me at all...<.<. Iwas told you had to wear d hide when you fight em but I seen 4 people there in barrows/bandos they said it aint any diffrent when they wear d hide..

He only uses magic and melee. If you pray magic, he attacks with melee. If you pray melee, he attacks with magic. Wear d'hide and protect from melee works or wear full Bandos and protect from magic... (: sssSp7p.pngIjLCqFF.png 03:44, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
Just realized this is the Skeletal Wyvern page, not Skeletal Horror <.< sssSp7p.pngIjLCqFF.png 01:43, October 10, 2010 (UTC)
Hehe pretty sure I've made that mistake before Henneyj 05:35, October 10, 2010 (UTC)

charmrate[edit source]

48-51% chance to get crimsons? I have killed about 500 wyverns so far and ive got like 960 crimsons from them, that means about 98% chance to get a drop of 2 crimsons from them, i couln't believe my eyes when i saw that "48-51%" crimson drop rate there, so could some1 check this out?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

The drop rate comes from [[Charm:Skeletal Wyvern]], which has recorded over three thousand kills' worth of charm drops. I suggest you double-check your figures and whether you have any modifiers in place (such as increased charm drops from the Familiarisation activity). --Andorin (Talk) (Contribs) 19:19, June 10, 2011 (UTC)
While you are correct that the charm drop rate for crimsons is fairly high, it is not as high as you might claim it to be. You have either killed many more wyverns than you are aware of, or your numbers are off. In any case, I've reconstructed the charm log. Suppa chuppa Talk 20:16, June 10, 2011 (UTC)

Cannoning at Wyverns[edit source]

File:CWyverns.png|thumb|Multicombat WyvernsHere's a picture using a cannon at wyverns. With this technique, it is possible to kill up to 4 wyverns at a time. The only downside to this is how quickly the cannon runs out of ammo. It's a quick hop inside, Fire Cannon, and a quick hop back out. It takes a few seconds for the cannon to start in multicombat mode again, but can be an 'easy' way to get through a task quicker if you have low combat - or if you just want to get through quicker because you hate wyverns...

Best weapon: Slash

I noticed in this section that it is CLS > Whip > Korasi > D Scim I think Rapier should be either in front of whip or in front of Korasi as it gives a better slash bonus than Korasi and a better strength bonus than whip.

Chaotic Staff?[edit source]

Wyverns are weak to crush right? The chaotic staff bonuses surely surpass that of a Dragon Mace?

+65 Crush Attack, +72 Strength and it's the same speed as a Longsword, Mace whilst maintaining an Attack Bonus of a Dragon Battleaxe and a Strength bonus slightly better than the Dragon Longsword

Okay the only downside is, it needs 80 Dungeoneering and Magic, but the staff itself has no Attack Requirement and it degrades, but it's a good alternative right?

In my opinion, I see it like this Chaotic Staff > Dragon Mace > Tzhaar-ket-em > Dragon Battleaxe > Ancient Staff Correct me if I am wrong, I am new to RS Wiki.

Chaotic Rapier (slash)[edit source]

Okay, I have just had this as a slayer task, and I used, CLS, Chaotic Rapier and Abyssal Whip, and I can safely say:

CLS is the best, followed by the Rapier (on slash) then abyssal whip, which then is followed by Korasi, then lastly Dragon Scimitar. Yeah, the rapier is -4 slash attack less than the Abyssal Whip, but the added strength bonus make up for it, feel free to test this out on you're wyvern slayer task with a slayer helm, DFS and full Bandos :)

So what the guy two posts above me, the best slash weapons should be

Chaotic Longsword > Chaotic Rapier (slash) > Abyssal Whip > Korasi Sword > Dragon Scimitar

Also to my above post, CLS outperformed Chaotic Staff but the staff in my opinion is the best 1 handed crush weapon to use at Wyverns

If you want to know my stats, they were 85 attack defence and strength, and I used extremes and piety (greatly help)

Seed drops[edit source]

I got a Toadflax seed and an Irit seed. Rich Farmbrough, 13:51 21 April 2012 (UTC).

Killing after EoC update[edit source]

I tried killing them with void mage using wand and dragonfire shield mage

and i have to say you get raped !! u will die in 10 sec, becouse they are all agressive,

only way to kill them is if you use range or melee with armadyl or bandos armour or better,

i used bandos with dragonfire shield and drygore mace and even with that with overloads is

still hard.... i just recommend you stay away from them and go to gwd instead.

If you get them as slayer task, just skip it.... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).

You can easily kill them using melee gear with chaotics, that seems to be working fine for me. Dragon dagger.png AmoVos 13:28, April 10, 2013 (UTC)
try using abby wand and blood blitz, worked great for me.  Seren symbol.pngHeavyoak Talk Zaros symbol.png 08:09, June 12, 2014 (UTC)

Don't meet requirements[edit source]

Was just assigned these - my dungeoneering level is 79 but 85 is required for the resource dunegon...guess I got jagexed. This a glitch or expected behavior? I was getting dailies that far exceeded my levels before but that problem seems to be fixed now. 16:32, November 21, 2013 (UTC)

You do not need dungeoneering to access Skeletal Wyvern. The only creatures in the Ice Dungeon resource dungeon are Frost Dragons. The Skeletal Wyvern cavern is quite a bit more to the south-east. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 16:36, November 21, 2013 (UTC)
^ This, see this map for a visual guide. BawsMageTalk 16:53, November 21, 2013 (UTC)
Ah, great to hear this! I was hoping I was missing something so I didn't have to skip the task. Thank you very much. 16:57, November 21, 2013 (UTC)

Charms[edit source]

Not sure if this is considered good, but I did get 90 crimson charms from 15 minutes of Skeletal Wyvern killing. So that would be roughly 360 per hour. Ozank Cx 10:09, August 25, 2014 (UTC)
