Thieving[edit source]

This is really about the chances, I suppose. I've been pickpocketing the Varrock Guards, and last week I got the rocks within 100 or so pickpockets. This week, I got the first rock in under 400 pickpocketing attempts. Second rock... I still don't have it, and have been pickpocketing the same guards for a grand total of 1200!!!!!! (including the first.. so it would be about 800 for second). Using Gloves of Silence and Ardy Cloak 3 (as I did the first time).

Quite frankly, I'm getting tired of pickpocketing... and I already have 80 thieving. --Jrrast 17:05, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

You do know the chances are reduced by "half" once you get the first rock, right? - Spined helm.png Spineweilder Firemaking cape.png21:46, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I am fully aware of that... So in theory, I *should* have gotten the second rock by now... and I've pick-pocketed over another 100 times and still no rock... and I know from experience that it's possible to get both rocks one right after the other, while some rocks will take *FOREVER* to get... If pick-pocketing is the only way to get thieving rocks then it fails... as it would make more sense to include the Pyramid Plunder, looking through urns and opening up coffins... Anyone tried it yet?

Main reason I'm not 'real' happy with how Jagex "gives out" rocks is because I work M-F, and am busy a lot. I don't get the chance to get on RS as much as I'd like, so when it takes several hours just to get two rocks, I find it very frustrating... although I'm sure it's not so bad for those members who have a chance to play RS for 30 hours or more per week. Still, if possible, I'd like to try and complete the statue every week. --Jrrast 20:19, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

Final reward speculation[edit source]

Anyone got any idea? I think it's going to be something related to the rune supply for magic. As said, the statue represents a mage during the second age, when there were very few runes, so we might be able to use less runes whilst training our magic skill, even if the distraction and diversion is for skillers, not combat. However, it may result in the reward being double exp forever? Unlikely I think... any more ideas? I would like to see in 30weeks... lol.

Wasn't there some mention of being able to mine rune essence in your POH once? Perhaps we will be left with a rune essence rock to mine?

If it was a summoning obelisk it would be useful. Rich Farmbrough, 05:41 7 March 2010 (GMT).
I would like the opportunity to transfer Dahmaroc's essence from the cursed museum statue into the uncursed replica statue, and bring him back to life. Then I would nab his awesome-looking staff :) Seriously though, I expect the replica statue will be nothing more than a monument to your dedication and perseverence. Construction[edit source]

To get the construction rock, do you have to just wait inside your house, or do you have to leave after a certain time and reenter?

I'm going to give it a whirl in a few minutes, so I'll try and let you know. He has knocked four times. 00:51, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

I got both construction rocks. I reentered. At first I stood for about 8 minutes and didn't get, so I reentered and after about a minute I got my first rock.

Can anyone comfirm that entering a friend's house helps get the rock too?--Da wabbit is dead... 01:10, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

@Elmerfudd893 It says you get them by entering "your" house, so my guess is no.

Inventory item?[edit source]

I suppoze this is an inventory item taht appears as some kind of reward and can be "something"ed? Or could it just be a nice name for some other rewards. confirmation on where rocks can/cannot be obtained[edit source]

Just wondering if people are receiving rocks from activities other that those listed, in particular I'd like to know:
Mineral deposit mining
Superheating
Barbarian Agility Course
Extreme potion making

confirmed on Barbarian Agility Course08:53, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Deposit does not yield ore. (mined 800 gold/coal, nothing while 50 iron did the trick for both). Also heard someone who mined 3k coal there who got nothing

Farming trees[edit source]

Can these rocks be obtained from harvesting trees/fruit trees? This is not in the article so I presume not. if anybody could clear this up for me, it would be great.

I farmed for hours and got them both through allotments, I did alot of apple trees and didn't get anything but the farming rocks were the hardest ones to get for me.Gamer9sam 00:34, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Getting the second rock[edit source]

Do you have to give the first rock to the museum before you can get the second rock? Or can you simply leave your first rock in your inventory or bank and continue to train until you get the second one?  Tien  22:40, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

Actually you have to have both to take them to the museum. Cheese.png KaBob799 23:29, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

You do not have to take the first rock to museum to get the second one. I got both ones for fishing and both for firemaking before i went to the museum. The one little problem is they do not stack in bank so for those of us with limited bank space there is a minor problem. Uffa 64 00:11, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you.  Tien  00:37, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Experience Gained[edit source]

What experience rewards, in what skills and with what levels are people getting?

6699 exp - lvl81 - crafting

5865 exp - lvl 77 - wood cutting

5428 exp - lvl 74 - cooking

5575 exp - lvl 75 woodcutting 4588 exp - lvl 68 construction

please add

I've already added it to the article.I was not signed in at the time, but after reviewing other peoples rewards on the forums and here I believe the xp formula is

Y = (x)(x-1) + (100-x)

Y = Experience earned x = Skill level Barelyliving 23:33, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

Appears to work well, well done.

I just got 5575 exp at lvl 75 woodcutting. According to the formula currently on the page I should've got 5375 xp, so the formula's off. Sorry! Sathe 13:18, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

You should recheck your math 75^2=5625 75*2=150

5625-150+100=5575 Barelyliving 20:37, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah for some reason I thought there were brackets around 2x+100 ... always overcomplicating things. *rolleyes* Good job on the formula, then. :D Sathe 21:39, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Construction rock[edit source]

Another question: do both of the strange rocks for Construction appear randomly next to the portal, or does it just apply for the first rock? If the latter is true, I assume that the second rock is actually received from making furniture?  Tien  00:37, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

They both appear by portal, the second one just takes a LOT longer. I recommend alching, it took me 30 mins+ to get my 2nd one easily.65.89.42.202 01:06, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

I wish they made it so you get it when making furnature instead of randomly standing around... I'm prolly gonna throw a party to get mine.

---

This all is highly anecdotal, but I received both woodcutting rocks then headed to my house to try for the construction ones. After waiting around for 15+ minutes, I tele'd to varrock, and turned my woodcutting rocks in. Went back to my house, got the first con rock within a minute. After receiving the first rock, I left and reentered my house, and the second rock also appeared within a minute. Similarly I have heard people talking about getting the second rock quite quickly after exiting and entering their house a second time. Wouldn't hurt to run in/bank any rocks in your inventory as well.

Yes, I've heard that you can recieve rocks from merely standing by your entrance portal. (Read on blogs, etc). it hasn't been confirmed, however, wether or not yu can get the rocks while in building mode (strange though it may seem). ile:Runecrafter hat.png Helm360Talkhiscore Mithril bar.png 08:18, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Has anyone with multiple house portals been able to get the rocks? I have two house portals, and have been standing mainly by the one that I normally exit from. I have not been able to receive a rock from either in the three, 15 minute time periods I have been here. --PerrinAlvar 22:46, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

To answer my own question, it is possible to receive the rocks if you have multiple portals, as I have just received the first rock from the portal that I last exited. I will see where the second one appears, but I assume it will be at this portal as well. --PerrinAlvar 22:54, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Well I just got the second one while I was typing that out, within 2 minutes of the first one, both from the portal that I last used to exit. --PerrinAlvar 22:55, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

They might want to update the "You don't get any notification" thing. I don't know about construction, but I can confirm there *is* a notification of sorts if you get one in a non-full inventory. There is a clunking sound played, like a rock dropping onto a hard surface. --Jimfromtx 10:37, March 20, 2010 (UTC)

---

omg i have been trying to get strange rock in building mode and in regular mode and i have been sitting here for like 40 min have not got either rock. Does anyone got anymore tips for me

Yay finally got first strange rock but it was in regular house.

Chance of 2nd rock[edit source]

Can anyone confirm that the chance of getting the 2nd rock is twice as rare as getting the first? I got the 2 cooking rocks literally right after each other, and I got the mining ones barely an inventory apart. And going with the one up above, it doesn't appear that theres much of a difference between the first and second rock.65.89.42.202 03:08, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Can anyone please confirm what happens after the statue is rebuilt once? Do you have to rebuild it again? Do you get an item? What happens?

Also, someone commented about the first rock taking a while to get and the second one coming quickly. Jagex said that the odds decrease by 50%. So if there's a 2% chance of getting the first one (and therefore a 1% chance of getting the second one), then ~63% of the people will get the first rock after 50 times of doing the qualifying event and the second one after another 100 (150 total). However, it is entirely feasible that someone would get two in a row, just as it's possible someone might get the first one and then take 200 tries to get the second.

Quote from Mod Maz on the subject:

The probability switches (either up or down) when you receive a strange rock. Hope that answers your question :-)

Edit: Hmm... rereading again and again, it doesn't make that much sense, perhaps an example will help:

You go fishing... your probability of getting a rock is 1 in x. You gain a rock from fishing, your probability of gaining a second rock from fishing is 1 in 2x.

However, your probability of gaining a rock in... say.. herblore is still 1 in x. If you gain that rock in herblore, your probability of getting a second rock from herblore is 1 in 2x, but your probability of getting your second fishing rock is back to 1 in x.

Hopefully THAT will make more sense....

i experienced very different speeds in obtaining the rocks. so i ask myself wheather some activities in a skill give you the rocks faster then other. e.g. i got the first runecrafting rock after 40 runs to the astral altar with 4 pouches and the second after 14 more runsI will claim this back soon!doublejk2000Talk | Contribs | #I am working for this! 14:09, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

I got my first rock after I fished one monk and the second rock after my sixth monk. I've cooked 7 or 8 packs of monks, however, and not received a cooking rock yet. I am doing a nice job of restocking my cooked monk supply. Horsehead Talk 22:02, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

I received both rocks for WC, Agility, Con and FM relatively quickly

but i have caught 1500+ lobbies and have only 1 rock, i understand it's random but this is crazy

Edit: saw the tip below for big net, got it in first inventory :/

900 strange rocks?![edit source]

I did get all 30 strange rocks.

After building the statue a cutscene was played in which the statue seemed to be getting alive, looking less grey for a couple of seconds. After that, however, it exploded, throwing you back. The archaeologists don't seem to pay attention to it, but talking to them reveals that they did pay attention to you while you built the statue and they also designed an item called Replica statue piece, which is given to you. It is same with agility strange rock but looks a bit brown/red instead of grey. Attempting to destroy the replica piece will say you'll have to build the entire statue to regain a replica piece.

In addition to this, the archaeologist gives you an item called Statue plinth, hinting you that you can build a statue in your own house on that. The Statue plinth can possibly be reobtained for free. It can be built on a new hotspot, in study room. An attempt to use the replica piece on the plinth will say you need its twin piece.

As I said, 'you'll have to build the entire statue to regain a replica piece'. This possibly means that there are more replica pieces (with a total of 30 - see 'you need its twin piece' I mentioned earlier) that need you to build the entire statue 30 times. Everytime you collect 30 strange rocks and complete the statue you are given one more replica piece. This makes us 30 strange rocks times 30 replica pieces equal to 900 strange rocks..

You also get 10 kudos the first time you build the statue. Lathow 05:52, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Nice, thanks! Any chance of editing the relevant pages, do you have any pictures? That's really interesting, I wonder if it's for decoration or has a useful purpose...and what happens when it is entirely complete! :D ile:Runecrafter hat.png Helm360Talkhiscore Mithril bar.png 08:13, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

I did not take any pics yet. Anyways, I have more info. According to a maxed player I know you may only build the statue ONCE a week. This means you need a minimum of 30 weeks to get all 900 pieces..Lathow 00:50, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

Just finished the statue and snapped this pic:

Plagiarism[edit source]

Most of this page is a plagiarism from the Runescape Game Guide. This should really be fixed. coppro 05:47, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

I agree. The sections from the game guide should be completely rewritten. Cabbage.png Phoenix316 talk Quest point cape.png 18:15, March 8, 2010 (UTC)

It's hardly plagiarism ... and anyway, new sections always start out like this because all the information we have is FROM the game guide. It'll change a lot as we find out more, so just be patient. Sathe 13:20, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Salamanders[edit source]

do you get rocks if you hunt them |sorry..forgot to sign it Leinad177 08:09, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Not as far as I know, only way to get rocks is box traps, deadfall and falcons. Lathow 07:52, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Lathow, it's perfectly possible. There is a list in the knowledge base, but it is nto inclusive and says at the top (paraphrased) "Ways to get these rocks include:" I supppose Jagex want us to experiment etc. ile:Runecrafter hat.png Helm360Talkhiscore Mithril bar.png 08:15, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Rewards[edit source]

Has anyone completed 2 or more statues? Can someone shed some light on the rewards? Speculation?

I've completed 2 statues, 6 rocks into the third. As of now adding two replica pieces to the plinth in the house doesn't give any xp reward, idk what it will do in the end (probably shatter... again ;) ) Eat ham2 20:51, March 14, 2010 (UTC)Eat ham2 Statue of Dahmaroc (2 pieces).png

can somone confirm if u can get rock fom cannonball making

I guess you can't get them from the Caverns, my friend's been mining there almost nonstop since he got on and hasn't gotten a single rock. That, and jagex hasn't said anything about it. As for cannonballs... i'm gonna guess since you're not smelting or smithing them into items then you won't get them.65.89.42.202 20:22, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Confirmed, I have mined several hundred coal and gold there today and no rocks. Then got first rock on first piece of runite that I mined :(Old Farticus .. MARCH 4 , 2010 16:29 EST

rocks at agility?[edit source]

jagex said that you can get a rock from te gnome agility course, is this the regular or the advanced course or both?

I believe its only the normal one. Shame too >.< They should add the other ones to it, like nobody uses wolf course after 70...65.89.42.202 20:16, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

Can anyone confirm that werewolf course gives the rock? I been here for hours, like 100+ laps, with no stones, and I am going for my first! I know it lists in the KB, but I am thinking jagex may have meant to write wilderness instead (since it is listed here...). Bio 02:00, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

I went to brim agility course and got both by steping over wall. I have 72 agility and got both within 30 mins, first was after 20 second at 30
