New addtion to front page

11-Oct-2006Players' Gallery and Wallpapers

Added. It's in Template:updates anyway, and you don't need to be able to modify the main page to change this. Shhhhh. --Eucarya 13:26, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

Add "Dungeons"

Add a "Dungeons" heading for dungeon articles. Shadowdancer 17:11, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Featured articles

I just realized we don't have many good articles... Because of this, articles that are featured will be featured for the whole month. Now, to vote on featured articles, there should be a page just like the votes for deletion page. Fishing, the current FA, can be removed this month if we actually vote on an article. I hope that made sense lol, the main page's been annoying me so much, messing with my brain.--Richard 18:07, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

Good point, and idea. I might touch up all the skill articles, see if I can bring them up to such high levels as Magic. Oddlyoko 18:10, 4 August 2006 (UTC)

E Gads!

Did someone modify the Monobook skin?! It's gone... black! :O Oddlyoko 02:15, 8 August 2006 (UTC) If we're going to leave it like this, we're going to have to change the templates and images so they blend in better. Glaring white over black is not very pleasant. Oddlyoko 02:23, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

Where is the monobook lol?--Richard 02:26, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
WHOA! WHAT THE HECK?! MY SCREEN CHANGED COLOUR! Lol. Cool. Hmm... I'll need to change the colour on the tables on the main page. The logo's messed up too...--Richard 02:44, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Umm... I don't like it. Anybody else share my opinion? -- Couchpotato99 03:33, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

I've made 2 templates for the main page, {{featured article}} and {{in the news}}. Their name corresponds with what's in them. I dunno though, I think I liked it without them, but I guess having them is also OK.--Richard 02:35, 8 August 2006 (UTC)

I removed + deleted the templates. I didn't like them and don't see why we need them.--Richard 15:21, 14 August 2006 (UTC)
I'm gonna put them back in again actually... They're now {{featuredarticle}} and {{updates}}.

In the news

I really like the in the news section the way it is currently shown. It shows a recent update, then a link to our corresponding article. I think this should happen every update. For example:

Wanted/Needed Pages?

Whatever happened to the link to the page for "Wanted Articles"? Shadowdancer 23:38, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

Wanted Pages? It's there, it's under the title.--Richard 00:20, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
Why, thank you. Shadowdancer 00:21, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Is the MediaWiki for anyone else malfunctioning? For example, are the "new messages" notices lingering for too long, or are some pages or links replaced with "$1" or "$2"? Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 00:16, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

I have a better name: WikiScape. - 13:24, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

Other articles

I like the style on the left, with links to categories, which then allows people to search for related articles. Richard prefers the style on the right, with direct links to articles, preventing any possible confusion. What does popular opinion suggest? Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 02:12, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

I dislike linking to categories on the main page because people who may not know what a wiki is will look at them and be like, "What the heck?" or something like that. It's just less confusing with the actual articles.--Richard 16:33, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
I've changed it now so that both categories and articles are on the main page. I don't really like it but I can live with it I guess.--Richard 16:39, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
I don't like it either. Instead of finding a middle ground that neither of us like, we should find one that we both like. I don't like the two columns first off. Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 18:34, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Rule Breaking Advertisements

It bothers me that there are advertisements on this website for gp selling websites. There shouldn't be ads like that here. Mr.hotkeys 00:48, 9 September 2006 (UTC)

See Talk:RuneScape Wiki/Archive 1# The Ads Have GOT To Go..., and perhaps comment at User talk:Shadowdancer#Ads. Woodcutting-icon.pngHyenastetalk 02:48, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
I left a message for Shadowdancer about this but someone told me he had left. If someone sends me a list (in text, not an image) of ads that are really problematic (don't just list everything or the only ads left will be really boring and irrelevant to you and readers of this wiki) then I can have them blocked. Angela (talk) 06:48, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
The only offending ad I ever see pretty much is the ad for to buy money. Mr.hotkeys 14:37, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
What do we need to report to you? Just the URL that the ad goes to? -- Couchpotato99 (talk) (contribs) 16:32, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes. Angela (talk) 10:07, 10 September 2006 (UTC) and Mr.hotkeys 00:54, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
Ok, those 2 are now blocked. Angela (talk) 03:39, 12 September 2006 (UTC) -- Couchpotato99 (talk) (contribs) 19:37, 13 September 2006 (UTC) Mr.hotkeys 16:42, 17 September 2006 (UTC) is another one...--Jakfr0st 00:41, 27 November 2006 (UTC)

Article on Merchanting

There should be some sort of article on the way people make there gp in Runescape since it would help many newcomers.

Player Moderators

There also should be a link to player moderators about which many players have questions.
