Farming[edit source]

I don't think we should list farming various trees in the table. Thats dipping into skills and general training now. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 22:08, September 16, 2009 (UTC)

yes but do you not agree that it is a repeatable event? and by the way this is my first article that i created or started besides my user page. in order of requirments then time then requirments again to clarify, anything that doesnt need completing of quest then level requirements then items then how long it takes to repeat.
Quest.pngLawrence735TalkSignHS 05:12, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it is repeatable; but by that reasoning you could add 'cutting trees' and 'mining rocks' and pretty much every skill, turning it into 'a list of things to do in RuneScape'. I don't believe that would make a good article, nor what the point of this page ultimately is. I think it would be better to collapse the 4 farming-based rows (excluding the jade vine) into one row about things that can be harvested multiple times (trees, fruit trees, bushes, some special plants); we don't need to list the intricate details. I think we need to define exactly what a 'repeatable event' is and then add things based on the definition. Here's the lead sentence I wrote:
Repeatable events are tasks that can be repeated periodically for an experience or item reward.
I propose it be something like:
The Repeatable Events listed here are tasks, often Quest or Achievement Diary rewards, that can be repeated periodically for an experience or item reward.
Your thoughts?
Also, as I stated on your talk, per the style guide, please stop adding huge amounts of links to the same page - I counted 17 links to experience, where on a page of this size, 1 or maybe 2 is enough. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 13:04, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

okay i agree that it is dipping in to skills so we should put all 4 harvesting into 1. so atleast its listed then the star mining and evil tree killing into 1 that should trim it down alot and i agree with the second statement because it does define "repeatable" more than the last and also sorry its my first article i did know about the style guide sorry i was doing my best. Quest.pngLawrence735TalkSignHS

Okay, I sorted out the link overload and did some formatting. I think Shooting Stars and Evil Trees are good separate - they have completely different requirements and rewards (unlike the farming-based ones which were effectively just different ways of doing the same ting).
I've made the table sortable, but the rows will sort 'randomly'. Using a 'hidden sortkey' can let us control where it sorts - put <span style="display:none">sortkey</span> at the beginning of a cell, where 'sortkey' is the place it should be sorted (using numbers is good). I don't mind doing this if we what should sort where.
And no worries, we were all new once Smile Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 20:30, September 17, 2009 (UTC)

okay keeping the star and evil trees separate makes sense because they do have different requirements. but on harvesting normal trees like yew tree or maple don't harvest they chop so i don't think they should be included in this if harvesting is the start of the sentence. i think we should specify that the special seeds only include the cactus and the calquat tree because other special seeds are not re-havistable. you did a nice job on the sorting of the table but i'm not sure how to use the sort-key code maybe you show by example or explain more perhaps. and talk about me being new it took 30 minutes to find the cell code that i wanted to start the article, also can you help with signatures on how to get one or make one, because i cant figure it out if not thanks anyway.
Quest.pngLawrence735TalkSignHS

Mm, yeah, I suppose. Could just adjust the name to include 'cut'. and special seeds by name could also work too.
Okay, sure. I'll type up an example when I get time.
As for signatures check out here for help on making one, here for general rules, here to request one, or tell me what you want on my talk page and I'll make it for you.

i posted on your talk page the help i need. Quest.pngLawrence735TalkSignHS

Here is a sortkey demo (edit the page to check out the code).

Default sort Sortkey Text without sortkey Text with sortkey
1 1
  • I like pie.
1
  • I like pie.
2 2
  • I like cheese.
2
  • I like cheese.
3 3
  • I like the RuneScape Wiki.
3
  • I like the RuneScape Wiki.
4 10

5 01

01
  • I LOVE pie.
6 02
  • I can't think of anything else now.
02
  • I can't think of anything else now.

Notice that 10 sorts between 1 and 2 - so to make it easier to configure you should zero-pad numbers (01 or 001 instead of 1, though make sure if 001 is used for 1, 010 is used for 10 too).

Now to decide what to sort on... here's some ideas to comment on and improve:

  • The Event column - no sortkeys. If it is wished to be sorted elsewhere, rephrase it.
  • The Members only? column - no sortkeys. Fairly simple yes-or-no question, doesn't need advanced sorting.
  • The Reset Time or Minimum wait period column - sorted by time between. The ones which reset at 00:00 UTC should be classed as 24hr resets, and the weekly resetters (circus/pengs) as 168hr. I'm not sure about Farming - should it be at the top, as the respawn on fruits and such is quick, or by the longest time it takes for the a plant to grow (~21hrs, Calquat tree), or at the bottom as we its a variety of numbers?
  • The Requirements column - by the highest requirements to do the activity.
    • None first (those with optional requirements (e.g. circus) sort beneath those with no requirements at all).
    • Skill requirements only second, by the highest level needed. Farming, stars and trees pose a problem, do we go by the lowest level plant/star/tree, or highest?
    • Achievement diaries next, by 'level' (beginner/easy/medium/hard), where beginner is first and hard is last.
    • Quests last, by difficulty (novice/intermediate/experienced/master/grandmaster), where novice is first and grandmaster is last, then by highest requirement of that quest.
  • The Reward and/or Profit column - by reward value.
    • Experience first, by all the experience rewarded added together.
    • Coins second, by all the coins rewarded (and/or value of items).
    • Mixes of each last, assuming 1 XP = 1 coin.

None of these are set in stone, just some quick ideas (easier to comment on already formed idea than to make some up on the spot). Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 19:21, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Membership[edit source]

I think a column for if membership is needed (to perform the activity) or not could be useful.--Magnea8 - Profile and Talk. 22:30, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Good idea. There's only one which doesn't atm (explorer's ring) but there may well be more. Added it. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 22:50, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Jobs[edit source]

Err...jobs? 6 every hour at lumbridge? Just an idea. Santa hat.png Powers38 おはようヾ(´・ω・`) 02:38, September 20, 2009 (UTC)

Haven't they been discontinued? I checked out the Game Guide and there's no mention of jobs (in the beginner guide, the Lumbridge page, nor in the first page of results of "job" "jobs" or "lumbridge"... shame. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 19:21, September 20, 2009 (UTC)
i agree with the ordering you gave. its almost perfect. but i think it should be noted after the 24 hours the reset time, cause some may want to do right before then right after the reset time.
but as for farming it should be the re-grow time of fruit no the tree its self.re-harvesting the fruit over and over, again and again, is what makes it repeatable. not the re-growing of the tree that's just plain farming. for the time ordering its should go by the re-grow but it should go by the lowest re-grow time but we aren't listing every tree so we just put "from 5 minutes to 21 hours" or something like that or just put it on top of the list cause it is quick. as for stars and evil trees go by the lowest level and same for farming, witch is think is level 10 farming. some of the jobs have been discontinued but some haven't.
Quest.pngLawrence735TalkSignHS 01:40, September 21, 2009 (UTC)
you can also add slaying of the Skeletal horror. Quest.pngLawrence735TalkSignHS 04:37, September 23, 2009 (UTC)
i think adding the assist system is also a good idea cause you can only gain a limited amount of experience a day. adding the havesting the white tree fruit i think is also a good idea. Quest.pngLawrence735TalkSignHS 21:16, October 9, 2009 (UTC)

Misc reset time?[edit source]

Reset time for kingdom management is listed as 00:00, but I recall reading that it resets every 24 hours from the time that you first completed the quest. I do know that it was not resting at 00:00 for me. Has this changed recently? I've been without membership for a while now, so haven't checked my kingdom (obviously)... JalYt-Mej-Wynde 20:19, January 20, 2011 (UTC)

I can confirm that it does not reset at midnight for me, it may even be different per player as stated above. For me it is somewhere in the afternoon.

Expansion Required?[edit source]

Updated to include the firemaking events in circus.

I do not believe this page requires expansion, I took a look through the game guide but cant find any other events.

I have removed the Expansion required banner, as I am unable to find more events.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nibus (talk) on 07:50, January 14, 2012 (UTC).

New sections may be advisable[edit source]

In order to bring this article up to Wikia standards I believe new categories should be added to this page, IE what events are trackable on the toolbar add-on and which appear in the task lisk as well as a trivia section. Also the formatting and style of this article makes it hard to read, I think spacing and graphics would fix this problem.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nibus (talk) on 07:54, January 14, 2012 (UTC).

Untitled[edit source]

You need to add Meg event and the new Construction D&D.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 178.77.178.157 (talk) on 08:01, January 4, 2013 (UTC).

Untitled[edit source]

Can we add the other 3 modified headgear, not just the Artisans bandana? (for getting daily items.)

Also gathering seaweed and gems from aquarium needs to be added. 222.153.70.129 23:12, May 2, 2015 (UTC)

Combining all modified headgear?[edit source]

Just an idea to shorten the list a bit, how does it sound if we just scrap all the individual modified headgear rows and just put in one 'Modified headgear' with the general effect and such. Artora (talk) 17:39, November 2, 2015 (UTC) Art

Raids[edit source]

How about looting Raids every 48 hours? It's true that you can kill them as many times as you want, but the loot!

members events that only reset when membership is active?[edit source]

I think it would be useful to indicate which events reset only when membership is active. For example, the Rune Goldberg Machine is one of those that doesn't. In other words, if a player collects their vis wax right before their membership expires and then subscribes again after the daily reset, they won't be able to collect vis wax again until another reset. This does not apply to certain other events; for instance, I've always been able to fight Bork right after getting membership. --Ixfd64 (talk) 19:10, December 18, 2016 (UTC)
