Talk:Rare drop table

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape
Jump to: navigation, search
This talk page is for discussing the Rare drop table page.

Two Lists[edit source]

Seeing as we can never really confirm if an item is or is not on the rare drop table, I decided to split the list into a "Confirmed" and "Likely" list. Obviously the Likely list is much more lenient in terms of what we can put on it, so go ahead and add a lot more stuff to it everyone XD. Though please make sure at least several monsters drop the item before adding it.Anincent 12:22, June 22, 2010 (UTC)

Deserves a Separate Page?[edit source]

I don't think this should have it's own page... it's not a tangible thing, it's Jagex's coding. If anything it should be located at the Ring of Wealth article. Yes, I highly suggest it gets moved there Concerned Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 01:34, February 2, 2010 (UTC)

Theres a lot of pages about non-tangible things. I think it deserves a seperate page because it is seperate from the RoW and could make a good reference in various monster pages. It's not a mechanic of the RoW after all, it exists outside of the ring. It does need completing though, but I'm not sure what other Rune/Dragon items might be on it. I tried looking at various monsters who have the rare drop table but the drops weren't completely consistent and I didn't want to guess wrong. Cheese.png KaBob799 03:54, February 3, 2010 (UTC)
I completely agree with Kabob799, this Rare Drop Table is a game mechanic of it's own, separate from the Ring of Wealth, so it deserves it's own page. Only some monsters give access to the Rare Drop Table, but the moment we know that it does drop from the rare drop table, we immediately know a lot about what the monster will drop due to a page like this. Also I would suggest making a change to the entire Wiki in regards to monster pages, an additional 'tidbit' on the side stating whether or not a monster does give access to the Rare Drop Table. Something like this would tell players if they would benefit from the RoW because, as the description implies, the RoW is actually useless on some monsters (monsters which do not drop from the Rare Drop Table). In fact, a huge revolution of the Wiki is necessary in light of the knowledge of the Rare Drop Table, since listing items such as Half Keys, Uncut gems, etc. is redundant the moment we know a monster does drop from the Rare Drop Table.--Anincent 06:32, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

This is NOT the Ring of Wealth Article[edit source]

I notice there have been several edits adding information about the Ring of Wealth on this page. That is not what this article is about. I've removed mentions of the Ring of Wealth that are not related to the Rare Drop Table. In particular is the statement that the Ring of Wealth affects Charm drops; that has no relevance to the Rare Drop Table. Charms are on a seperate table, made clear by the fact that most monsters will drop three things the majority of the time if a charm drops: a 100% drop, a charm and a normal drop. If Charms were in the Rare Drop Table then it should be a very common occurance that a monster will drop two stacks of items from the rare drop table in one kill (ie. Bones, an Uncut Sapphire AND a Half Key from one kill), or two stacks of charms (ie. Bones, 3 Blue Charms, 3 Blue Charms) which does not occur, thus showing that charms are in fact not in the Rare Drop Table. This would lead to the conclusion that the Ring of Wealth does not affect charm drops, but that's really a seperate issue NOT related to this article. 10:05, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Monster List[edit source]

I'm not sure if this is allowed but I added the monster list from the article: To this page, as I believe it's more relevant here than it is there. If this isn't allowed then it wouldn't have wasted a lot of my time if it's removed.--Anincent 07:11, February 3, 2010 (UTC) Since the half shield is actually part of the rare drop list, the monsters should be included.XXstaticXX 19:18, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Monster Organization[edit source]

I would say we should organize the monsters on whether they are slayer monsters or not, and in combat levels, instead of alphabetically.XXstaticXX 19:02, February 3, 2010 (UTC)

Dragon med[edit source]

Is the dragon med helm really on the rare drop table? Cheese.png KaBob799 20:55, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

It certainly seems so to me. It's dropped by a wide range of monsters and is a really rare drop. If you truly believe that it's not so, then by all means go ahead and remove it. Tokkul detail.png Inhaps talk 22:52, February 4, 2010 (UTC)

Yes it is. Even though it isn't worth much it is still a rare drop.Nundinae 22:02, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Clarification[edit source]

I have compared wikia's listed drop for several low-level monsters that are on the table (Able to tell by shield half) and came up with the following list:

  • Shield Left Half
  • Dragon Spear
  • Rune Spear
  • 5 Rune Javelin
  • Loop Half of a Key
  • Tooth Half of a Key
  • Uncut Diamond
  • Uncut Ruby
  • Uncut Emerald
  • Uncut Sapphire
  • Chaos Talisman
  • Nature Talisman
  • Coins

Rune Spear is found on every monster that drop dragon spear or shield half and jagex did say rune items were on it. Rune javelin is found on 90% of the monsters and I assume the other monsters just haven't had a confirmed drop yet. Coins are all monsters lists, so not sure if they are related to the rare drop table at all. Chaos and Nature Talismans seem to be dropped by all monsters with the rare drop table. Some list only one of the two, which I believe is just due to lack of confirmation. So I would say it is safe to add Rune Spear and 5 Rune Javelins, the others are still not confirmed due to inconstancies. Either way, I'm glad someone took my suggestion to make it (or thought of it on their own =P).

Edit: Oh, and Cockatrice are on the drop table =PBio 05:49, February 14, 2010 (UTC)

What about 20 addy javs, 42 rune arrows, 150 steel arrows, 100 silver ore, 67 nature runes, 45 law runes, cut dragonstones, dragon meds, rune sq shield, rune kiteshield, rune 2h swords, rune battlaxes, runite bar, cosmic talismans and nothing drops? And I don't think coins are part of the rare drop table since almost all monsters drop coins and not all of those monsters have the rare drop table.
Sorry for all the edits but i kept thinking of more that are probably on the list too.
Starkiller58 21:53, February 20, 2010 (UTC)

should vyre corpse/vyrewatch be on this list?[edit source]

Vyre corpse cremation rewards include everything in the rare drop table currently. I know they technically don't drop anything, or get affected by the RoW, but it might be worth noting. Ledzepmtg 02:27, February 19, 2010 (UTC)ledzepmtg in most reference frames never mind, no left half.ledzepmtg in most reference frames 07:41, February 19, 2010 (UTC)

Rune Full Helm?[edit source]

Should Rune Full Helm be on the list? It's dropped by a wide variety of monsters Purepout 10:28, March 20, 2010 (UTC)

  • Rune Full Helm does NOT seem to be on the drop table, since not all droppers give it. Just check the lower level droppers, if they don't give item they it isn't on it. I am pretty sure Cockatrice should be on the list. Also, Rune 2H Sword and Dragonstone are NOT on the drop table. Neither Jellies or Pyrefiends can drop them, and those are just 2 I picked at random. I'm sure you'll see the same thing for some of the other dropper. Chaos Talisman still may be part of it, and it certainly fits nature of the talisman too. Bio 19:27, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

Few Additions[edit source]

Cockatrice should be listed. They drop all the Rare Drop Table Items, so it seems fair to say they belong on list. After all, they were one of monsters I used to figure out the items on the list!

Besides Cocaktrice, there are 2 items that should be added. As mentioned several times before, Chaos Talisman seems to be a Rare Drop Table Items. It is in most of the monsters Drop section and fits the randomness of the drop table nicely.

Besides this, I think the new Ancient Effigies may be from the rare drop table. Jagex did make a comment before about how they considered improving ring of wealth since it isn’t that useful, getting Ancient Effigies sure is useful. Higher Combat monsters have higher Rare Drop Table Rates, so that applies to it as well. The only real way to prove this would be to do many comparisons to Effigy droppers and list of known/suspected Rare Drop Table monsters. If there are some that drop Effigies but not Rare Drop Table, it may be ones we missed from Rare Drop Table list even! Bio 23:48, June 15, 2010 (UTC)

Cockatrice drop half keys, so that confirms that they do drop from the rare drop table. I'll go ahead and add it. If you see any monster that drops a half key that is not on the list then you should add it.
In regards to the items found on the Rare Drop Table, no one can tell for sure what is or what is not on it (besides the ones confirmed by Jagex, being half keys, gems and the left shield half), we can only guess; even if we kill millions of every single monster in the game, and get comprehensive drop tables. The main reason being that it's possible Jagex assign a 0% probability for a particular item on the table for some monsters, and so some monsters might not drop that particular item even if it is on the rare drop table. This seems very likely since a lot of monsters drop 100 noted Silver ores (to name a few: Fire giants, General Graardor, Kalphite Guardians, Dark Beasts, Iron Dragons, Dagganoth Rex, Abyssal Demons) hinting that it may be on the rare drop table, however it seems lower leveled monsters do not drop 100 noted Silver ores. With this in mind, pretty much any item could be on the rare drop table.
Also, I seem to recall a Jagex moderator confirming that the drop rate of the starved ancient effigy is not affected by the Ring of Wealth. This would confirm that the ancient effigies are not on the rare drop table, although I can't seem to find the post anymore.Anincent 11:49, June 22, 2010 (UTC)

Goblins?[edit source]

In RS KB it says "The rare drop table is shared between a variety of NPCs - e.g. goblins, fire giants, most Slayer creatures. A good way to tell is that if an NPC is known to drop a half key, then it will drop other items from the rare drop table."

But goblins doesn't seem to drop half keys

MU7C Ronaldo 05:11, July 24, 2010 (UTC)

A monster doesn't have to drop every item on the rare drop table to be a candidate. As I mentioned in the previous section (above), Jagex may have assigned a 0% probability of dropping for some item for some monsters, but that particular item still counts as being on the monster's drop table. This possibility is evidenced by the following quotation (in the knowledge base): "The ring of wealth comes into play whenever you are rolling on the rare drop table, its ability effectively removing most of the empty slots, drastically increasing your chances of receiving an item from the rare drop table. The actual percentage increase differs between NPCs." which implies the the drop rates while rolling in the rare drop table is different for different monsters.

This is also the reason why it is literally impossible for us to determine conclusively which monsters give access to the rare drop table, and also what items are on the rare drop table.Anincent 12:57, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

rare drop table updated[edit source]

someone really should spruce this article up since the new ROW update changed the rare drop table a bit

~These are some new 'rare drop table' items I have recieved while doing a dark beast task:

  • 500 big bones (noted)
  • 200 battlestaffs (noted)
  • 200 adamant bolts
  • dragonstone (uncut) [not the cut version that is also a drop]
  • dragon dagger
Yes, I'm thinking all these insane drops from everything are actually additions to the RDT. Didn't jagex say one day they'd use up the blank spots for new items? Perhaps that's what they did. Adding possibly the above, and the 4K yew logs, 100 runite ore, 2K coal, 80(ish) torstol, multiple high-level tree seeds, and possibly the vecna skull. Achievements Coelacanth0794 Talk Contribs 19:11, March 16, 2011 (UTC)

Adding Rare drop table to creatures drop tables[edit source]

If we're going to remove all the new rare drop table drops from the creatures' drop tables, why aren't we also removing the old such as 100 noted silver ore, gems and key halves?
If it's possible, I suggest making a Rare Drop Table template that we can insert onto the creatures pages. Law rune.png Samberen Nature rune.png 12:40, March 17, 2011 (UTC)

This idea really should be considered. If a monster lists uncut gems/silver ore/etc. AND rare drop table, which also has those drops, is there really any point? Remove standard gem drops, half keys, related dragon items and such from monsters' drop tables and instead have the Rare drop table? Should we do this? Godel 23:56, March 29, 2011 (UTC)

crazy drops[edit source]

hey is the swordfish drop correct because 100k raw swordfish seems wrong... Daorangemoose 22:15, March 18, 2011 (UTC)

2500 sara brew(3) seems like an unreasonable drop, cant be true?

2500 sara brew (3) drop is true. 20:04, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

Why was the Uncut Onyx removed from the table?

If there weren't drops like 2500 sara brews, then there wouldn't be much incentive to purposely go out hunting monsters that from the rare drop table, and i certainly wouldn't have a ring of wealth in my bank. Anyways, the sara brew drop is a very rare drop in a drop table that is rare already, so it's extremely rare to get one. Dragon claw.png Candle Max Dragon platebody.png 11:19, July 17, 2011 (UTC)

Bringing Some Light[edit source]

I just wanted to point out that the new drops are all part of the rare drop table, and should be added. The only exception to this is the Vecna skull, which can only be obtained while using the Ring of wealth. 20:03, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

If you'll direct your attention to this question in the Game Update FAQ 15/3/11, you'll see that things such as the Abyssal whip, Granite maul, and any other unique item dropped by monsters who have the Ring of wealth message alert you every kill, are affected by the Ring of wealth.

“What does the message "Your ring of wealth glows more brightly!" actually mean? It happens on every kill so it is completely pointless and does not accomplish the intended purpose of letting us know when it changes something at all.”

Mod Piesche: The message lets you know that the Ring of Wealth has improved your chances for the coming drop. This does mean that it will appear every time when killing monsters that have a chance to drop unique rare items on every kill (such as abyssal demons), but the message does not necessarily mean that the drop you receive is rare.

Mod Mark: We wanted to be very clear on when the ring had a potential effect on the drop since it was the most common question about the ring before this update. You can of course filter this out if you turn your game filter on. 20:10, March 20, 2011 (UTC)

Factual correction[edit source]

This is my first time doing anything like this on a wiki, so I apologize if I'm doing this wrong, however it appears that you have the "addy ore (noted)" as a ring of wealth drop only, and I seem to have gotten that same drop from cockroach soldiers which is also listed as only dropping 1, unless from the rare drop table. The quantity was 772, and I was not wearing a ring of wealth at the time.

Uncut Dstone[edit source]

This article is making it seem like it's near-exclusive to the row. I have gotten two uncut dstone drops in the past two days without the row. Dsctatom 01:44, March 25, 2011 (UTC)

Nature runes[edit source]

Just had a 79 nature rune with RoW from ice strykewyrms which is rather odd since I expected it to be a 67 nature rune drop :| I'm not sure if the RoW changes the 67 nature drop to 79 or if it's a new drop all together. Either way it's a new piece of data to add to the mix.

Starkiller58 07:53, March 26, 2011 (UTC)

Ring of wealth "only"[edit source]

Many (frankly I suspect all drops) in the section Ring of wealth drops are not ring of wealth only. I and many of my friends have had those drops while not wearing a ring of wealth. Can we get these merged up into the above section? Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 19:10, March 26, 2011 (UTC)

Snap Seeds[edit source]

Today i received a single snap seed drop from Frost Dragons, Since Frosties do not drop Snap seeds or seeds period... i believe its safe to say it's on the RDT. I recieved the, "your RoW shines more Brightly" message, and the seed wasn't accompanied with anything except the bones and a charm, so it had to be the cause of the message. Perhaps this isn't an RDT item that isn't typically noticed because it is a possible drop for so many monsters.

Rune Arrows X 500 are on the rare drop table. I was killing abby demons while wearing the R.O.W and got it as a drop. Idk how to edit that table though. so could someone who knows how to please do it. :)

Update : Please add this to miscellaneous list[edit source]

add soul rune to the rare drop list i got an item thats not in the list i recieved 20 soul runes as a drop while i was wearing the ring of wealth when i kill cockatrices it may be a rare drop

Soul Runes[edit source]

While killing the new 'Rum'-pumped crabs, my RoW activated and got me 20 soul runes. I've edited the "Items Likely To Be on the Rare Drop Table" section to include this.

As this is the first time I have ever gotten souls as a RoW drop, I'm not sure if this is the right category. For instance, perhaps one could get anywhere between a few or hundreds/thousands like the new RoW drops work. If anyone encounters a soul rune drop like this, feel free to update/confirm.Alexcthgreat 18:12, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

UPDATE: Got 20 soul runes again; this time, K'ril Tsutsaroth dropped them for me during a solo trip. Alexcthgreat 20:55, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

Blood runes[edit source]

I got 50 blood runes from a Ghostly warrior a while ago and got the message about the row shining

I also just received 50 Blood runes as a drop, except I received them from Black knights while working on my White Knight ranking.

Confirmed, just got 50 Blood runes from a Mountain Troll and the RoW "shined more brightly". Savemonkeys0 12:08, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

idiot statement removed[edit source]

i just removed the idiotic statement that said items specific to any given monster like abyssal whip and draconic visage are on the rare drop table. these arent on the rare drop table, the ring of wealth just improves thier chance of being dropped, there is a huge difference, being on the RDT means that ANY monster with access to the RDT could drop it, and everyone knows ice strykewyrms dont drop whips or visages >.> Masterx3829 22:15, April 3, 2011 (UTC)

Can someone please add Snapdragon seeds to the drop list? I cannot figure out how to for my life. The quantity is 1-?

Watermelon seeds?

I just got 3 watermelon seeds from black demons, ring of wealth shone and i am pretty sure that they dont drop these normally, so i think they are on the rare drops table.

3 Watermelon seeds?[edit source]

While killing Armoured Zombies, my ring of wealth shined and I got 3 watermelon seeds. This wasn't mentioned anywhere under the drop table for the zombies nor the rare drop table page. I'm not very good with wiki so I can't edit it myself, but can someone add in the watermelon seeds to either of those pages? I got 3 but I'm really not sure if you could get more or less.

30 noted earth tallys[edit source]

just gained 30 noted earth tallys form a Aviansies kill

(I got 36 earth tallys by Abyssals, not sure if it's Rdt drop)

Dragon Dagger[edit source]

The single DD drop (from RoW part) isn't noted, as I just got one from Fire Giants, and it wasn't noted.

"Contrary to popular belief, they may be obtained without a ring of wealth; this means these items are not on the rare drop table, as such the rarity is only compared to other drops of the ring of wealth"

If you can get the confirmed rare drop table items without a ring of wealth, then they are not on the rare drop table? The claim leads to a contradiction of the law of noncontradiction.

From personal experience, they DO NOT appear to be part of the rare drop table. Ring of wealth shines when a drop is taken from a drop table it effects. However, I've gotten dragon daggers without it shining. This suggests that they're not on the rare drop table, and instead should be listed in the regular drop table for every monster that drops them (single unnoted) Godel 23:09, April 30, 2011 (UTC)
Pretty sure dragon daggers (single unnoted) are NOT in the rare drop table now. Recieved another drop recently and ring did not shine. Also, for how frequently I was getting it from certain monsters (abby demons, dark beasts), after 5000+ kills of cave crawlers (level 138), I've yet to recieve one. It MAY be on a slayer monster drop table though. Going to remove single unnoted ddagger from the rare drop table and individually add it to monsters which drop it. Godel 01:35, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
I can't understand why there is so much confusion about this. The ROW *improves* your chance of accessing the rare drop table; it does not GRANT access. Therefore, it will not always shine, only when it has specifically helped you received the rare drop. Just as you can receive rare drops without wearing the RoW, you can recieve them while wearing RoW without having been helped by it. This is why it does not always shine when RDT items drop. I have recieved noted sharks from banshees without the ring shining, and I'm sure that's not one of their regular drops. I'm also adding the single, unnoted dd back to the RDT list. I recieved one of these from a kalphite guardian, and I do not believe they dropped them prior to the RDT update, leading me to believe it is a RDT item along with the 50 noted. Chrishankhah 09:05, May 8, 2011 (UTC)
Chrishankhah is pointing out what everyone should have read on the article before coming to the talk page. I get dragon daggers without wearing the ROW. I have also seen coins shine and I have seen battlestaves not shine. This drop is definitely on the table. 06:58, May 16, 2011 (UTC)
The items on the rare drop table have a higher chance of dropping when a ring of wealth is worn. That doesn't mean the ring of wealth is needed to get any of the drops. JOEYTJE50TALKpull my finger 07:06, May 16, 2011 (UTC)
Just wanted to say that it was declared in the Game Update FAQ that the row glows when it has a chance of affecting the drop. Every time the rare drop table is accessed, the ring will help by removing some blanks, and therefore shine. Every kill of something like an abyssal demon will cause it to shine because it affects the chance of a whip. If you get a dragon dagger without it shining, it cannot be on the rdt.

Irony[edit source]

On some item pages, the rare drop table is "very rare", which I think is funny. It would be like calling a "common drop table" uncommon. Imdill3 13:37, May 12, 2011 (UTC)

Except that it is named Rare Drop Table and fits our definition of very rare. There is no irony in that. A tank could be considered as a vehicle with bad gas mileage. Would it be ironic to say that it has very bad gas mileage? 07:00, May 16, 2011 (UTC)

s2500 Brews - Lies.[edit source]

I'd like the go-ahead to remove this item, as i've seen and heard no evidence at all that it is actually a real drop... Anyone with me on this? The-Dreamcaster 16:38, June 7, 2011 (UTC)

Go ahead - Lots of people think it's implausible, Nobody I know has ever seen a 2500 brew drop

This drop is indeed real. A clan mate in Burstinglobs clan chat got one of these today at Dag Kings, it was 2500 (4) . This is a possible drop!

This drop is real. I've seen people get it a few times.

Access to RDT[edit source]

How do people know that black dragons have a 1/10 chance of accessing the rdt? logs 16:37, July 19, 2011 (UTC)

Could anyone tell us how to determine the chance and how to determine R? Thanks Edeka3 11:21, July 30, 2011 (UTC)

To determine the chance is fairly easy. Keep a log of all drops, and make sure you kill many monsters, over 1000 to make sure the results are accurate. Then simply count the amount of drops on the rare drop table and divide it by the amount of kills, Do keep in mind that this is only an estimate and for really rare drops, such as the draconic visage, vecna skull or saradomin brews you cannot get an accurate estimate unless maybe even a million monsters are killed.

Long & Curved Bones?[edit source]

The last two times I got a long bone drop my ring shined more brightly, yet I don't see long or curved bones (I'd assume if one was on the rare drop table that the other would be) on the rare drop table. I'm not 100% on the guidelines for something to be on the table as I know certain items that are specific to certain monsters (i.e. sigils or abyssal whips, ect) also cause the ring to glow when dropped and obviously don't belong on the list since they are single-monster specific, but since long and curved bones can be dropped my many monsters, maybe they should be added to the list? Although not all monsters that give access to the table can drop the bones, so I don't know whether or not it would warrant being added to the list based on it causing the ring to glow and the fact that it can be dropped from multiple monsters, in spite of the fact that not all monsters that can give access to the RDT can drop the bones.

Nature runes[edit source]

I received 79 from a Dark beast. It says that dark beasts only drop 67, and that the rare drop table is only 47. I don't know if it is a rdt drop or not. Dsctatom 00:52, August 2, 2011 (UTC)

I've gotten another 79 rune drop from Dark beasts, so I think that article is wrong, not this one. Dsctatom 01:25, August 2, 2011 (UTC)

Level 61 Vampire has access[edit source]

Today I got an uncut dragonstone from a level 61 vampire. Apparently, on the list of monsters it says only the level 72 vampire has access. I'm going to add it now.

Sadly, today I slaying vampires and turns out the level 72s only do. I must've misread the level or something. Sorry. =/

Received during a Dark Beast task, it is not on the drop list neither on the rare drop table. (8/9/2011)

Current coin quantities[edit source]

Those current quantities are incorrect; I have gotten over 12,000 before (the article stated higher than that before) and I've had large coin quantities a dozen times that were between 5k and 12k that were seemingly random numbers (i.e. 11326). The current quantities are being shown as 250, 3000, 12000 as if those were the only possibilities. Dsctatom 02:47, August 18, 2011 (UTC)

F2P or P2P?[edit source]

I have searched for anything to answer this question, but here it goes:

Is the rare drop table F2P? If it is, then shouldn't the Members sign be put on members items? And if it isn't, we need to update a lot of monster drop lists. Duck171 11:51, September 10, 2011 (UTC)

Tokkul and Coins[edit source]

I think there should be a footnote stating that when fighting the TzHaar monsters, the rare drop table will hand out tokkul instead of coins. I know this is a sort of 'DUH' statement, but there are people who won't understand. KurosakisTwin 08:39, September 11, 2011 (UTC)

Runes[edit source]

General rune discussion, i guess. I got roughly 500 runes today from the harpie bugs in one drop. Anyone else get any rune drops not yet on the table? KurosakisTwin 22:00, September 21, 2011 (UTC)

I suck at editing on here but just got 100 runite ore drop from fire giants.

We have that listed already. sssSp7p.pngIjLCqFF.png 18:19, October 7, 2011 (UTC)

ROW says it shines when it WOULD get a clue scroll.[edit source]

If you already have a clue scroll in your bank you'll get the row glows brighter even though the clue scroll wont show up.

Dragon Dagger Revisited[edit source]

So yeah, the wealth update has been around a LONG time, and since then, I've only gotten a dragon dagger from a very select few monsters (abby demons, dark beasts, ice wyrms). Would anyone else like to list the monsters they remember FOR SURE that they received a dragon dagger from. I have reason to think that they added dragon dagger as regular loot to a few monsters and it's NOT part of the rare drop table actually. Godel 10:24, December 10, 2011 (UTC)

I remember getting 1 dragon dagger drops (not noted) from Black Demons, Iron Dragons, and Steel dragons. Nechryael too. And abyssal demons. <missing signature>

Yeah you see, I've also only gotten it from very specific things, usually on slayer tasks. I'm thinking at on the ring of wealth update, there were some monsters who's normal drop tables were added with these drops. I've killed tens of thousands of cave crawlers, 15k+ mummies, 5k hill giants, 5k jogres, 1k lesser demons, 10k+ earth warriors, 3-4k mighty bashees, 1k hobgoblins, and recieved hundreds of uncut gems, a couple uncut dragonstones, battle staves a few times, onyx bolts once or twice, large noted pure essence drops a few times, noted elemental talismen a few times, but never, not once, did I get a dragon dagger which is marked as "common" for rare drop table. Isn't this proof enough that dragon daggers are a SPECIFIC drop and not part of the entire rare drop table? Godel 17:08, February 25, 2012 (UTC)
I also haven't ever seen any of those drops listed in the "Items likely to be on the rare drop table" from the many above kills, also cut dragonstone. I think that certain monsters which include abby demons, dark beasts, irons/steels, bandos, dag kings, black demons, and any other monsters that have known dragon dagger drops, take from an additional table which is not part of the standard rare drop table. In any case, it's pretty clear that dragon dagger is NOT part of the standard rare drop table that every monster who drops rare drop table can drop from. Godel 17:42, February 27, 2012 (UTC)

Bandos Tassets on the RDT?[edit source]

In a recent video on chris archie's channel, (he's a popular youtuber: search 'ChrisArchieProds') a Nex team got a drop of Bandos Tassets alongside 3000 coins (which are on the rare drop table), big bones (that Nex always drops) and 20 crimson charms.

Now, it is perfectly viable to assume that the footage was faked (as the reactions of the team members don't seem very legitimate- one team member asks 'drop?' despite the drops being distributed through lootshare/coinshare.) However, being open to oppertunities, has anybody ever experienced or heard of a drop of Bandos Tassets, which seems to be rarer than the 2.5k Sara Brew drop, (or Boots/Chestplate?)

N.B. I have also checked the Adventurer's Log of the Player who supposedly recieved the Tassets (Tale of Xen) and he has no record since the 13th of January of ever killing Nex, then again recieving a Bandos Tassets drop. The other players in the Vid have their adventurer's logs set to private. Suspicious? 11:05, February 5, 2012 (UTC) Rathilal

Yeah, that was definitely spoofed. Tassets are only dropped in the Bandos GWD. FiendOfLight (talk) 17:52, February 27, 2012 (UTC)

Rare drop table frequency/chance.

I don't know if the rare drop table chance of being accessed or rolled on can be logged using the ROW. (ROW (always?) glows when the RDT is accessed, right? Or does it only glow when you roll an empty slot?) I also don't know if the chances for each item on the rare drop table changes among monsters. I also suspect different monsters have different chances to access the RDT. If we can't reliably use the "glow message" to determine this, how can we?

If this is possible, I would like the chance of accessing the RDT for each monster on the RDT wikia page. I would also like the chance of the RDT being accessed for each monster to be noted on the corresponding monster's wikia page. And I would like instructions on how to log this, so this can be done (again, if possible).

Death Roll[1d1000]: RDT(chance)[1-10 or 1%] -> RDT. RDT Roll[1d100]: Item(chance)[1-5 or 5%]

If I wasn't clear, the RDT(chance) is what I want. (And possibly for each monster)

Sara brews under the rare drop table[edit source]

Since they never have been confirmed, and the 250 I believe has only been seen from abyssal demons or something, this has been taken off... However, it has NOT been taken off the expandable rare drop table list on the monster pages for monsters believed to give access to it (500+ pages I imagine)

Mod Mark is 99.9% sure they do not exist.

I added back the 250 drop because I have heard of people getting it, and I also did a bit of googling. sssSp7p.pngIjLCqFF.png 17:26, May 28, 2012 (UTC)

I have heard of one person getting the 2,500 (4) Saradomin Brew drop at Black Demons. I'm honestly not sure what to believe unless somebody actually gets the drop and screenshots it. If it is possible, I'm going to imagine it is rare as hell, potentially the rarest drop in game (think of the same tier as 3rd Age from Clues). It'd have to be that rare. 07:10, October 3, 2012 (UTC)

Rune 2h[edit source]

I got a rune 2h as a drop from ganodermic beasts along with 20 anagogic orts. These guys always drop orts alongside a rare drop table drop, althought this may be the one exception. But I doubt it. 16:57, October 8, 2012 (UTC)

I got a rune 2h from the qbd chest, along with 27 clean torstols. Now, as the qbd chest always gived 2 rdt drops instead of 1, it is a logical assumption that the rune 2h is on the rdt (Especially considering a rune 2h is too cheap to be a likely qbd drop) 06:22, April 22, 2013 (UTC)

Correlation with Slayer?[edit source]

Several of my friends and me as well think that having a required slayer level makes monsters give access to the rdt more often than other monsters of the same level, and my personal experience seems to support this. Is it causation, just correlation(most higher level slayer monsters have high combat anyway) or are we just a bunch of crazy noobs?

Does anybody know...[edit source]

...when the rare drop table was added to the game? Or at the very least a general time frame? Or has it always existed at least in some basic form? 11:46, February 13, 2013 (UTC)

No F2P Rare Drops, as far as I can tell[edit source]

In my experience as a free player, the only drops I have seen that could be from the Rare Drop Table are the four standard gems: sapphire, emerald, ruby, and diamond, all uncut.  As best as I can tell, this would mean either the Rare Drop Table on F2P worlds is restricted to these items, the Rare Drop Table is never accessed and the monsters I've been killing drop gems anyway, or I've been unlucky.  The first scenario seems the most likely, and if anyone corroborates this, this should be added to the article; otherwise, many free players will get their hopes up to no avail.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Mathwhiz90601 (talk). 20:18, April 18, 2013 (UTC)

I'd like to see a concensus on this matter, people are already adding gems from f2p monsters to their normal drop list, claiming the rdt cannot be accessed by f2p at all: . It also seems more likely to me the f2p drop table is still the one pre-the rare drop table update, aka only gems (and for members, the d sq half and key halves), rather than them adding gems to every possible monster separately. 11:44, April 20, 2013 (UTC)

Ring of Wealth and Rare Drop Table[edit source]

Does the ring of wealth glow every time the rare drop table is accessed?  Undamaged (talk) 16:09, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

No, only when it's influencing it. Small recharge gem.png AnselaJonla Slayer-icon.png 16:10, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

Cascade style tables[edit source]

From the runescape wiki, it would appear that the rare drop table is actually multiple, and that if you land on the "table" slot, you go into the next lower table, which has better things in, and which in turn leads to another table underneath it.

e.g Ganos drops are

And from RDTEntry it opens a new table :

And each of those tables opens onto another one and so on.

DuskFalls (talk) 22:09, December 17, 2013 (UTC)

Untitled[edit source]

It seems that monsters tend to drop items from the rare drop table that are similar to their normal drops. e.g. I was fighting Fire Giants, and I got the Big Bones rare drop. Can anyone else confirm this? 03:44, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

That is purely a coincidence. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 04:27, March 30, 2014 (UTC)

legitimacy of current list[edit source]

With the current Slayer & Combat Weekend, Rare drop table drops are doubled. Certain items that have always been associated with the rare drop table are not included in this doubling, such as gems but items like key halves that have been associated with the RDT for just as long are. Any thoughts on this? Maybe gems aren't actually part of the RDT? Law rune.png Samberen Nature rune.png 03:33, May 4, 2014 (UTC)

It's random, completely. Sometimes rdt is doubled, sometimes it's not. MolMan 03:35, May 4, 2014 (UTC)
Every rdt drop I've gotten besides gems has been doubled. Key halves, dragon weapons, resources. not a single gem drop though. All being dropped alongside anagogic orts also. Law rune.png Samberen Nature rune.png 03:41, May 4, 2014 (UTC)
If the only concern is gems, I think it's because they are a separate mechanic. I', not certain how it works exactly, but I can guarantee they are on the rare drop table. I've heard of every particular drop being both affected and not being affected by double drops. The real mess is how the doubling works, not the exact table. I'm just glad this mechanic is temporary. MolMan 03:45, May 4, 2014 (UTC)

Magic / Runecrafting header[edit source]

It's kinda misplaced, and I can't seem to fix it with the editor. Anyone feel free to fix it. 10:56, June 5, 2014 (UTC)

Thanks. Last time someone edited the magic section, they removed a piece of coding from the table, which caused it to drop into the next one. Small recharge gem.png AnselaJonla Slayer-icon.png 10:58, June 5, 2014 (UTC)

Discrepancy between template and rdt page[edit source]

On rare drop table page it say Brawling gloves are a rare drop of the rare drop table. But when you look the rare drop table from a monster page (ie Iron Dragon) it say that brawling gloves are very rare... Is there a reason for the difference or is the template out of date?? If so could someone update, or tell me where to report? Proulxs (talk) 07:19, June 16, 2014 (UTC)

'rare' versus 'very rare' is highly subjective to begin with. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 17:28, June 16, 2014 (UTC)

Rune bar price error[edit source]

I have noticed that, in the section ores and bars, the price indication for Runite bars is off. As I can't deal with templates, would someone more skilled than I look into this issue? Alenyn (talk) 16:58, July 9, 2014 (UTC)

The price is updated by a bot, and it will update it when it gets to it. MolMan 17:04, July 9, 2014 (UTC)

Complete RDT[edit source]

It seems we were eager enough to update the article based on the image provided by Mod Timbo, but it looks like the Template:Rare drop table still needs an update too. The template and the article have gone out of sync in the past; maybe it's better to update the template and use it in the article?
On a second note, the article still doesn't include anything about the herb/seed rare drop tables defined on Jagex' wiki; is the stance here that they are not 'real' rare drop tables, or has nobody simply got 'round to it? At the very least for anagogic ort drops they are counted as a RDT. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 19:19, August 16, 2014 (UTC)

I cleaned up a little of it. I don't think it will be helpful to split by type... It would make the thing too confusing. I don't think there's anyway we can properly handle the herbs table with a template. Not every monster has these as drops, and those that do still have varying quantities. MolMan 19:27, August 16, 2014 (UTC)
The herb/seed tables had always existed, and the drops were always accompanied with orts. There was just no one who classified these as "rare drops". I've always wanted to propose to make all herb/seed tables as templates AND add an entry of how rare they're accessed for each monster. I'll provide some examples if asked. New RDT since 12th Jan 2015[edit source]

So, since the RDT update on the 12th Jan 2015 I have been jotting down all the new noted RDT drops I have been getting from Steel Dragons. I am omitting any drops which were part of the old RDT list, such as uncut gems. So far the list is:

525 flax, 139 raw lobster, 531 flax, 110 runite ore, 3 rune bar (yes, noted) Drmars 02:21, January 13, 2015 (UTC)

Those are already on the list. Mage Hybrid talk 02:27, January 13, 2015 (UTC)

Water talisman range increase[edit source]

I recently got 138 noted water talisman from Aquanites. Is it safe to assume they come from RDT? 01:37, August 7, 2015 (UTC)

Yes, but you must have had them doubled from the aquanite mask, since that is not a normal drop quantity. MolMan 01:39, August 7, 2015 (UTC)

why does this page have both

"A ring of wealth affects the frequency with which monster drops draw from the higher rewards of the rare drop table"

"The ring of wealth has no influence on the rare drop table"

on it? It doesnt quite make sense. the row only improves gem subtable and enables vecna. 05:43, January 8, 2017 (UTC)

RDT rework[edit source]

Basically, anything that rolled the actual Rare Table (which we call the RDT) got made as a separate drop. Anything that rolls the Herb or Gem Table (like Rippers can) were kept as main drops. The Gem Table can roll on the RDT but it is rare and most of the time its a random uncut gem. I don't want to make all of those sorts of drops bonus drops, it would eventually add up to either being a lot of bonus drops or a long chain of luck to get RDT from the Gem Table etc. Hope that explains things!

Collapsable tables[edit source]

It it worth making the tables collapsable? The page is quite long and I feel like there's no need to have all the tables listed.

Separating out monster list[edit source]

The list of 'Monsters that access the RDT' takes up about half the page. Should it be collapsed or moved out into a separate page?

Cook run 311 (talk) 08:45, 31 July 2019 (UTC)

Removed 50gp from gem table[edit source]

The exiled kq rolls for 4 random items on the gem table. 50gp isn't on it at all. Not only that, it was marked as 'always' which would mean it's dropped irrespective of whether or not the roll is on a rarer table. (false) Hence I've removed it. Pocket Sapphi (talk) 17:33, 28 August 2019 (UTC)

Herb Table[edit source]

There is no explanation of how the herb table is accessed. The "gem table" section claims "This is the first level of the tables, containing the least valuable rewards." but has no entry that rolls on the herb table. Is the herb table a completely separate table shared by herb-dropping monsters? Alercah (talk) 21:53, 16 April 2020 (UTC)

Some monsters have access to it and will roll on it rather than the primary RDT. Can't say I know which monsters, but an example would be how KQ rolls the gem table as part of her standard loot table (with a rare chance to upgrade to the second table), while others would roll directly from the second table (e.g. KK, Nex, Seren spirits and so on). I could be wrong, but that's my understanding so far. Can't say for certain as we don't have access to the raw data.

Pocket Sapphi 03:34, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

Rare table[edit source]

After hundreds of seren spirits, if it accesses the "rare" tier the same as combat: d long and oh long must be "rare" not "uncommon". Especially including the possibility that some of these I've gotten were from the super rare: I've had 10 & 7 of them in the time that a fellow "uncommon" (Dragon helm) has dropped 48 times. I've had 78 tooth halves, 63 loops. All of these are an indication that the longs are a different tier of rare. I've not had a single brawler and "rare" seems far too common. Dsctatom (talk) 21:53, 19 April 2020 (UTC)

That's probably just RNG. I don't believe they (d long vs helm) have the same drop rate, however, in my experience I've not had a significant number of helms more than d longs. It may be that d longs are grouped together and have a collective roll comparable to helm. Can't say for sure since we don't have access to the raw data. As for brawlers, you're almost certainly right. They're far rarer than the table suggests. I'm going to go ahead and modify the rates because they're undoubtedly out of proportion.

Pocket Sapphi 03:25, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

I've seen dozens of dragon helms from my seren spirits but never a single longsword. WiggleCat (talk) 03:32, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
Aaaaaand now I just got one. Go figure. WiggleCat (talk) 18:42, 26 April 2020 (UTC)
I've gotten nine of them since I've made that comment about not getting any, and only one or two helms. Loop and tooth halves of the crystal key are far more common. WiggleCat (talk) 19:09, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
I'm at 125 tooth, 107 loop, 14 d long, 14 oh d long, 66 d helm. I still think d long is more rare than helm. Diamond may be the most common, but key parts are pretty high up there too. I have yet to get raw lobster or flax; bare minimum those must qualify as rare?  Dsctatom (talk) 01:51, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
I have never ever gotten raw lobster or flax. WiggleCat (talk) 02:08, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
raw lobsters, flax and molten glass are filtered out when you have a tier of luck ring equipped. (tier 4?). Meaning you'll never get them unless you deactivate/unequip your luck ring when rolling on the RDT.

Pocket Sapphi 03:10, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

That's probably worthy of being added to the RDT page as a note on the items. Dsctatom (talk) 03:22, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
I added it to the table. Even though it makes sense, do we have a source on that? WiggleCat (talk) 03:54, 5 May 2020 (UTC) Cook run 311 (talk) 08:36, 5 May 2020 (UTC)

Revision 32541481 reversal[edit source]

I disagree on the reasoning behind this edit. If the drop ranges are distinct and the quantity in between the ranges does not occur, then it is incorrect and misleading to group the two ranges together.

For example, something that drops in quantities of 2-4 and 6-8 should not be represented as 2-8 as 5 cannot drop.

Cook run 311 (talk) 18:14, 1 May 2020 (UTC)

The reason behind the duplicates was provided on my talk page by another user. It originates from before salvage, when adamant bars and adamant ore would drop instead. They were converted to stone spirits but never merged. WiggleCat (talk) 18:50, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
I've looked at the historical reasoning as explained on your talk page but I think my reasoning to not merge still stands. I understand the reasoning behind it, but it seems like a misrepresentation of the data. If that's in-line with the style guide/standard on the wiki I'm happy to accept the reduction in information quality for cleanliness as a compromise, but otherwise I maintain my stance on the changes. Cook run 311 (talk) 17:55, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
In case you didn't see already, it seems this specific issue has become entirely irrelevant with the RDT update that dropped today. Adamant stone spirits have been removed from the table entirely. WiggleCat (talk) 18:39, 4 May 2020 (UTC)
Yes I saw the changes in the patch notes. I'm still curious whether there is some sort of precedent for similar cases. Especially if Jagex did a 1:1 name replacement for the stone spirit changes and the phasmatite spirits still drop in 2 distinct groups. Cook run 311 (talk) 02:29, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
No. I just got the drop from a Seren spirit as I clicked on this page to read it (and another a minute or two later). The quantity is 2. WiggleCat (talk) 03:41, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
