Untitled[edit source]

This article is getting on a good start since I first saw it a few months ago. here's some of my thoughts. I think it should look more like the melee training guide and it contains a lot of redundant information. it also still needs to be a bit more detailed Axearmour1 03:49, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

I created it, with Deathmas, but then i forgot pass so i created another account, called killa(other word for female dog)then this account and i've been working hard to compete it, but it is hard to update it with only 80 range myself.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Xxownagexx (talk) on 04:50, 20 January 2009 (UTC).

WE do not need boss monsters on here[edit source]

whyhave boss monsters on here i mean come on they are junk exp and bad money really if your all alone as you would spend so much cash on supplies and dieing Aaroncampf 04:14, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

keep my eddits[edit source]

please do not revert all of my eddits. thats not being in good faith and they are. Aaroncampf 22:41, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Re: keep my eddits[edit source]

Aaroncampf restore the guide, or else you will be suspended from wikipedia, (IP suspended) for the deletion of over half of the Pay-to-play Ranged training. This guide was written for people to train ranged, by removing most of the article you are breaking one of the largest wikipedia rules.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Veangeranger (talk) on 01:52, 18 March 2009 (UTC).

I did not delete that much information, the only part i "deleted" was the bosses because training ranged effectivly is not what they are for as or the other information i simply moved it because the SHEER strain this page put on my computer was lagging my whole system. the information was moved. the armour is all there and so are the wepions i litteraly copy and pasted them ans then made it look nice. so all i did was delete some wholey useless boss information deleted needless text (like 5 lines) combined the armour and wepions all into one section EVERY OUNCE OF INFORNATION besides the bosses is right there i can point it to you!!!!!! do not go aroumd undoing my eddits just because you want it your way thats breaking the rules in its self Aaroncampf 02:42, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

who are you threatening me if your a person of great standing here then i will do what you ask but if your just a random person then NO! and your only looking at the text count. the information is all there just condenced i can easaly point out 90% of it its there just shortended and in 2 sections

and i deleted a picture because the youtuve video covered it so whats the point if you cant see itAaroncampf 02:46, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

God wars dungeon[edit source]

I thought cannons weren't able to be taken into the GWD, let alone the boss rooms - if this is true, this needs to be removed from the last section.

--Find Emotion 15:57, September 26, 2009 (UTC)

There is way too much uneeded information and some bad range training information. Like..... TRAINING WITH MORRIGAN???? I added it because it said it should be added but come on serriously? noone in their right mind would ever train with that! Its too expensive and lasts an hour at most!

I have lmost 18,000,000 experience in range and I think this page could use some major redoing. A lot of it could be removed such as training with rune knives..... and that "void armour is the worst armour to train in" as it said. This page is very opionated and should be looked over by some forum mods. or at least someone with any bit of knowledge about range.

I'd be happy to edit this page to "my" standards of range training which would include removal of morigans armour, high priced amunition such as rune arrows/darts/knives/bolts. And replaced with actual armour used in training such as void/black hides/ sacred clay helms. Actual amuniton mith bolts/broad bolts/ iron-steel arrows/ bronze-iron knives / bone bolts/ chincompas / multicannons / crystal bow.

also lists of monsters that arent listed(mainly because they are kept secret to prevent overcrowding).

I am scared to do all this editing, mainly because I feel like a moderator will remove all the work I put into it.

leave a message here if you wish to discuss anything with me about this.

Be Bold! The admins are generally understanding, if someone reverts your work then take it to their talk page and direct them here. You seem to know what's good and what's not, so go for it. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 10:49, October 4, 2009 (UTC)
I agree with Gaz, be bold. You might want to write in your summary something telling people to go to the talk page to see see your explination here. Something simple, such as "See Talk:Pay-to-play Ranged training for reason why I am doing this". Don't feel obliged to do this though. Too much school work atm ill get to fixing the page this weekend.Ranged cape (t).png Mookie Merk Talk Rune crossbow.png 12:49, October 7, 2009 (UTC)

Chinchompas[edit source]

The current guide leaves a lot to be desired when you consider that it's the best way to train to 99. Would it be a good idea to have a separate page to avoid clutter and rewrite? The average xp totals are way low (I'm using subpar gear at 80 range and averaging ~270k/hour) and the guides don't really explain what you're doing. 21:56, November 9, 2009 (UTC)

Archer Helm[edit source]

It says requires Level 45, this is true for defence but it only requires 1 ranged.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Baptiejames (talk) on 10:50, 10 May 2010 (UTC).

Range potions and cannon[edit source]

lol? The bottom of the cannon section looks like the editor is either fighting with himself or another editor on the page instead of here.

Could someone please check if range= accuracy on cannons.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Pharos 5 (talk) on 09:02, 30 May 2010 (UTC).

Incorrect data?[edit source]

The recommendations for training from level 40-50 include dwarves for their "good charm drop rates," but the dwarf page says that dwarves drop no charms 97-99% of the time. Shouldn't that entry be deleted?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NathanW197 (talk) on 18:27, 5 August 2010 (UTC).

Rune Crossbow isn't worth it[edit source]

Why are we recommending the Rune Crossbow at Level 61. According to my calculations, at level 61, with no other bonuses, a Magic Shortbow with Rune Arrows does 35.2 dmg/sec (assuming it always hits) while a Rune Crossbow with Runite Bolts does only 33.0 dmg/sec (again, assuming it always hits). Moreover, Runite Bolts cost more than 5 times as much as Rune Arrows. And this is the most favorable assumptions; the gap widens as you're ranged level increases or if you use Void Knight or Ranging potions. The extra +30 accuracy of the Rune Crossbow is nice, but against training monsters it won't make much of a difference (especially since a decent level 60 ranger can get at least +150 attack anyway).

Therefore, based on its cheaper ammunition, greater dmg/sec, and faster firing rate, I think we ought to just recommend the Magic Shortbow at least until level 70.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 02:59, 4 February 2011 (UTC).

Sacred clay and cannons[edit source]

I was training ranged and slayer on sea snakes with my (slightly) charged sacred clay bow equipped when I noticed in the chatbox 'Your sacred clay weapon has less than 10% charge left', indicating that I was getting bonus exp from it even though I wasn't actually firing it at the time. (I was standing behind a safespot waiting, not attacking). Should it be noted that sacred clay bonuses apply to cannons?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 08:28, 3 April 2011 (UTC).

Bows are terrible XP compared to knives[edit source]

I just gathered some data on black knives vs Magic Long Bow Sighted with mithril arrows. The results show a staggering 47% faster xp on black knives, dispite being cheaper and having 130 less ranged attack. I propose restructuring the recomended weapons. Knives should replace bows and Chinchompas should be a suggestion there.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Oldarney (talk) on 01:16, 12 June 2011 (UTC).

No longer need to spread bones[edit source]

As of today, you no longer need to spread bones while training on skeleton monkeys. They spawn whether the bones pile up or not, and much faster at that. The experience rates will probably be needing some fixing as well due to this update. I don't want to change anything in the article because I'm an editing noob, but this is just a heads up.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 04:11, 6 July 2011 (UTC).

What[edit source]

" Wealthier players can also choose to substitute the Void knight top with an Armadyl chestplate or a Pernix body for the extra ranged bonus. " Quoted from the page, under the chinning section.
Doesn't that just.. defeat the entire full purpose of using void? You won't get the full benefits of void.. and if you're gonna replace the top, you might as well just replace everything :/

If you have any three items of Void equipped with the helmet, you should still get the bonus. So, replacing the top but keeping helmet, robes, deflector and gloves should still work.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Egdcltd (talk) on 20:06, 22 November 2011 (UTC).

Chinchompa_inventory.png[edit source]

The [[:File:Chinchompa inventory.png|Chinchompa_inventory.png]] picture should be swapped out. Void knight armour is effectively useless if you don't have 3 pieces plus the helmet. Black d'hide is better in every aspect, except for Magic defence bonus on the Void knight robe bottom, unless you have three pieces plus whichever helmet. Someone should retake/edit the picture so that it has Void knight gloves on instead of Barrows gloves (+0 Ranged attack bonus and +12 Ranged attack bonus respectively) or the Void knight deflector instead of the Unholy book (+0 Ranged attack bonus and +8 Ranged attack bonus respectively), because right now it's a pretty bad example of what people should be using.

Cost of chinchompas[edit source]

The red chinchompa section has very detailed information about xp/hr, but not about the cost. I guess a player could go through 1.5k chinchompas per hour if they were attacking constantly, but having never tried it myself I don't know how much down time there is (and presumably it depends whether you're in soul wars, for example, as opposed to ape atoll). So if someone with experience doing this could provide the rate of chinchompa usage, I think that would be useful information for the page. Stewbasic (talk) 01:35, October 18, 2012 (UTC)

This article needs a rewrite because of EOC!![edit source]

Everything is said. All training articles (melee, magic, range) must be rewritten.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 09:55, 23 November 2012 (UTC).

I think we should erase everything except the equipment at the top and start fresh, anyone else agree? - gathony  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Gathony (talk) on 18:01, 29 November 2012 (UTC).

I wanted to post something similar. Can we please scrap all pre-EoC information? Chinning at Ape Atoll is horrible exp now. Don't monsters now give fixed exp when killed? 12:20, February 22, 2013 (UTC)

And because is about training, try adding ranged xp(just ranged) next to life points, so users know what to kill for fast training; keep it simple  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 07:05, 3 August 2016 (UTC).

Armo(u)r[edit source]

For the armor to choose at defense level 65 for range, I found that after EoC the Kurask Boots(80k gp) have 56 armor which is more than the Demon Slayer Boots(190k gp) at 49 or Spined Boots(40k gp) at 36. Just thought I'd let you all know :)

Mighty Banshees 60 to 70 [edit source]

Red salamnder is recomenned although other weapons such as the dragon cfossbow works well it is quicker xp than most monsters in the 50 to 70 guide  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk) on 21:04, 15 January 2016 (UTC).

Aberrant Spectres?[edit source]

Surprised these aren't in the 50-70 range, frankly. Especially since someone put Abyssals in there. Weaker to Ranged (specifically Thrown/arrows, depending on area), "only" need 60 Slayer, and almost everything they drop is either noted, stackable, or alchable.

Even just rune crossbows/bolts seems viable to me, especially if you're using a Salve amulet. And if you're at the Slayer Tower ones, you can do contracts, too. Sandman366 (talk) 01:49, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
