Untitled[edit source]

Alright, I'll be the first one to blow the whistle here.

This "Optimus" thing, do you know what it really is? I'll tell you.

It is Jagex's official macro client.

I'll say it again.

Optimus is Jagex Limited's OFFICIAL BOT PROGRAM.

No, it's not ludicrous. Think about it for a moment.

Jagex hired the guy who ran, one of the biggest botting websites out there. If you don't believe me, add "Mod Jacmob" in-game, or look for posts by him on the RuneScape forums.

Now, consider the name "Optimus". Optimus Prime comes to mind, the main protagonist from Transformers, which is all about - wait for it - sentient ROBOTS.

Put it all together: Jagex hires a bot programmer, they announce their next anti-bot event is in the works, called "Optimus". Meanwhile, bots have returned in full in RuneScape...

You tell me. 06:47, April 8, 2012 (UTC)

Got any better conspiracy theories? Hofmic Talk 06:49, April 8, 2012 (UTC)
Yeah right... -.-
Mod Jacmob is most likely indeed working on Optimus as he knows a lot about bots and how they work, that's why Jagex hired him (it was even annouced on the home page a while ago). He is also the guy who's working very hard to fix the FPS issues.
As for the name it is probably because Optimus is a robot that wants to stop the bad robots from taking over or w/e (IDK really, only saw a part of the movie), so that makes sense as it's a program to stop color bots (bad robots) from working.
Jagex will never make their own bots. Why would they even do that? Nobody would be playing the game, makes no sense at all.

From the Q&A

**How insightful has the hiring of Mod Jacmob been? In an interview (no source) I read he was pretty confident all bots could be stopped, is this still the case?

- He's great to work with and has been very busy working on the anti botting.

Ever hear of the term white hat hacker? Many companies will literally hire those that used to do destructive hacking, to help point out flaws in their own computer networks. In the same vein, as stated above, if you want to know more about bots, and how to stop them, why not hire someone who has made them? A sort of convert, if you will. Try harder next time.Jimwormmaster 07:54, April 30, 2012 (UTC)

Optimus is latin for best, so it probally isn't from transformers lol.

BotWatch is slowly becoming more widespread; adbots and solo dungeoneering bots are both now being targetted. Not very fair that they hire the guy who caused most of the bots and then pay him huge amounts a year to "stop them." Least they coulda done was sue him, or hire him for much less pay. Like £1 an hour. I know WHY they hired him, it's already been said above, I just don't like how they hired him for the reasons I've stated. MenaphosRS (talk) 12:59, January 4, 2013 (UTC)
