Talk:Money making guide/Killing frost dragons
Is it worth buying expensive weapons like drygores or saradomin godsword ?[edit source]
I dont kill frost dragons very often, because every time i went in there i killed my self by not paying attention and smashing abilities when blue orb was out. So i hate coming down there, but when money pouch is empty i just have to :) Anyway i got chaotic rapiers and saradomin godsword in bank and im not sure if i should buy drygore rapiers or just use one of my weapons instead. Im gonna test sgs tomorow to see if its worth using at all...23:24, December 13, 2013 (UTC)
- Chaotic rapiers are more than enough to kill Frosts with, while Drygores are obviously more useful and effective, if you want to make money rapiers are fine. Don't even bother using a Saradomin Godsword it wont be as good as rapiers 10:04, December 14, 2013 (UTC)
Would it not be faster kills to use Deflect Magic instead of Soul Split? Deflect Magic does damage, drains less prayer, and you don't need Super Antifires. That makes for faster kills at less cost even counting the use of Monkfish to heal. So unless I'm missing something here, I think the guide should be updated to reflect this. - Deflect Magic might result in less damage taken and thus less food consumed but the reflected damage most likely wont result in any faster kills, the damage dealt back is simply not enough. 23:39, March 5, 2014 (UTC)
Kills per hour[edit source]
For some reason someone keeps editing this page to reflect a lower number of kills. Appearently they think it's not possible to achieve 225+ kills per hour. Well it absolutely is, in fact I get more than that. So please, stop changing it. It is correct the way it is now. Rittz (talk) 17:51, March 8, 2014 (UTC)
- Any chance you could explain a little more? I'm max cb with winter storage, c maul, blood neck, and I barely scrape 225 an hour. Are you using turm and extremes/ovls at all? I'm following the guide as it states (minus soul split, I use eee and blood neck) so it must be something I'm doing. Also, on a somewhat related note, 5 dwarf weeds and 5 lantadymes an hour is bogus, I'm lucky to get 2 of each (addy bars however...). Honestly asking for advice here though, I'd love 250 k/h 22.214.171.124 16:47, August 8, 2015 (UTC)
Debate on whether drygore rapiers are worth using over chaotic rapiers.[edit source]
I noticed something earlier that I thought was worth pointing out to everyone. Even repairing drygore rapiers with chitin works out almost the same price as repairing chaotic rapiers with gp alone not to mention using an armor stand which at 99 smithing with the cape boost works out cheaper by 750k. With that in mind if you have the cash for drygores and plan to do this long term it is well worth doing even if you plan to sell the drygores once you are done. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 126.96.36.199 (talk) on 16:19, May 25, 2014 (UTC).
- For making super antifire potions. IP188.8.131.52 (talk) 07:27, August 1, 2014 (UTC)
- It may be recommended in the guide but I found the use of regular antifires more than sufficient 19:35, August 1, 2014 (UTC)

Why Prayer Pots instead of Super Restore?[edit source]
More accuracy[edit source]
The input shows the price of a Pack yak pouch however it does not show the price for the Winter storage scrolls used. I'm not to familiar with editing articles so could someone change it if they have the time? thank you! --Galian prist (talk) 20:26, March 24, 2016 (UTC)
Upgraded bonecrusher[edit source]
Hi, I want to comment on the upgraded bonecrusher profit/hour which is certainly higher than the projected 250 kills per hour mentioned on this page.
Here's my equipment:
Supreme reverence (necessary to reduce the number of prayer pots needed. Flasks are an alternative, but are more expensive and generally don't buy as easily).
Full Torva or bandos, fire cape, saradomin's hiss, drygore rapiers, sixth age circuit, bonecrusher with frost bones unticked.
Obviously you may have access to better gear in certain slots. I personally wouldn't recommend swapping torva for anima core since you lose the prayer bonus, which is necessary for this to work well. If you want to try this, let me know if it works ok.
Recommended skills: 95+ melee skills, 95+ constitution, 95+ prayer, 99 smithing for repair costs, Herb not needed (since you out-heal the reduced damage from dragonfire). However, it may help for extremes/overloads if you think they're worth it. My herb is 75 so I have no clue about this.
Two antifire flasks, super set (or better), 13 prayer potions, 300*magic notepaper = 512887gp (based on GE prices at time of writing). Super defence probably not necessary if you want an extra item space for a spare potion or bones. You shouldn't need any food unless you don't have soul split, your damage output will be so high that SS alone should keep you max hp if you always have it turned on.
Activate your aura, drink your first antifire dose and kill them as fast as possible. The dragons spawn in an approximate elliptical shape around each side of the cave. If you follow this ellipse, you should get a new dragon spawn each time you kill one. Upgraded bonecrusher will auto-collect bones for you with this method. Do not pick up charms unless you need them (recommend only crimson and blue when you're waiting for a spawn or if they are in your path to the next dragon). Note the bones after a nearly full inventory, otherwise you may leave bones on the floor because they cant be auto-collected. Use supers when needed. Keep an eye on antifire timer and drink at 5s. If you get in trouble hp-wise and you cant outheal with SS, just run! This shouldn't happen if you're doing it right.
Your action bar setup should consist of no actions that deal damage over time - this is deadly if the orbs activate. Since you are trying to kill them as fast as possible, this hopefully should never happen unless you pull aggro of multiple dragons and aren't berserking. Use revolution mode, fill your basic slots so you always have a basic to auto-use. If you have sacrifice, bind it third (you don't want it as your top priority because of the low damage), as this will help with the healing, especially if you dont have access to soul split.
Have at least two thresholds (I recommend stomp and assault, ONLY USE ASSAULT AT THE START OF COMBAT BECAUSE IT'S DAMAGE OVER TIME). Your ultimates should be berserk and overpower, always prioritise berserk as you can kill them quicker than with overpower. Keybind your quick prayer and use soul split and turmoil if you have them. Failing that, use magic protect prayer and your best melee stat boosting prayer. Tbh, without SS this probably won't work, so I would highly recommend it. Only switch prayers off when running between dragons or waiting for a spawn. Also keybind antifires and prayer pots, as you will need to use them without throwing your game off for max efficiency. BE CAREFUL NOT TO CONSUME THE WRONG POTION IF YOU DO THIS. You may need to buy a second action bar to do this, otherwise remove assault and then stomp til you have enough space.
300+ kills per hour easily obtainable.
I average 4.6m-500k(input)-500k(repair cost per run at 99 smithing) = 3.6m per hour at 98 atk, str and def. My shortest run was 45 mins so that would improve this to almost 4.5m per hour. This would obviously require more notepapers. You could probably swap torva for bandos to lower the repair cost, or use anima core armour instead and bring maybe 1 more prayer potion. I use torva for the prayer bonus and hp, but reverence and SS may be enough for this to work well.
