He/she's the Makeover Mage. His/her gender keeps changing. Originally he was just a guy, but he's sometimes a she now. --Avian Maid 10:42, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Heh... In another game I once played (Materia Magica, text based), one could change one's gender, and sometimes came out a neuter. Too bad Runescape doesn't have this (How would it be rendered?) Mathwhiz90601 07:46, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Gender[edit source]

To me, having "he/she", "him/her" and "his/her" throughout this article really makes it hard to read. We should establish in the opening paragraph that he/she does not have a fixed gender, and then pick one or the other to refer to him/her as for the remainder of the article. I think this would be preferable to the "he/she" as it is now, and preferable to using "they" (even though it is a long-established practice, it doesn't read very well to me like that).

In practice what I am saying is that we should refer to this NPC as "he" for the remainder of the article. I know it seems sexist to pick this over "she" for no particular reason other than convention, but I think it would improve the article. If I don't see any objections I will go ahead and do it in due course. Leevclarke talk Max_logo_mini.png bulldog_puppy.png 15:30, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Why not refer to it as "it"? 01:18, 26 October 2008 (UTC)

That seems sort of impersonal - the Makeover Mage is still a person, and even intersex people are called either "he" or "she", depending on how they identify. Since the Mage doesn't seem to identify either way (someone correct me if I am wrong), defaulting to "he" seems like the best option. Even though it is arguably sexist to make him/her male by default, I am only intending to make the text easier to read by using one personal pronoun consistently. Anyone else is welcome to disagree - I am only raising this in the name of clarity. ;-) Leevclarke talk Max_logo_mini.png bulldog_puppy.png 01:11, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
The Makeover Mage is a person who has no defined gender. They are... They do... Works for other languages, will work here. Completely gender neutral. 09:45, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

How about the gender-neutral "ze" and "hir"? Nominell 21:27, August 18, 2010 (UTC)
I'm going to go ahead and update their gender to Genderfluid, since they meet the definition to a T, and change all pronouns on the page to "they/them/their". Feel free to ask any questions regarding. Elf of Seren (talk) 08:41, June 8, 2017 (UTC)

Updated with new information[edit source]

In the 5th Postbag Pete quotes this: "I don’t want to go back to bending spoons for a living." This is a clear reference to Uri Geller an Israeli born mystifier. Look at

Skin tone[edit source]

So, in theory, could we add some pics of all the different shades of skin? Or has that already been made in the past to later have been deleted? Or.. what's the story?

I was wondering the same thing. There should at least be a picture of the Makeover mage's gender/skin interface. I personally think skin color is worthy of it's own page now, as with the new vanity green skin having it's own page. Xhanort7 15:19, October 22, 2011 (UTC)
