Text is not intelligible[edit source]

"This item is used very often for merchanting therefore experiencing many times where you can not buy this item or crash in price."
If you ask me, I dont know what this part refers to... please, clarify. In the meantime, I have hidden the text in the article-- BURNTICEJ http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/4443/silverv.jpg 00:36, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Not a reference[edit source]

I was wondering if this item could be a reference to goatse and tubgirl, shock sites? It seems like too odd of a name to not be a referecne.Zekila 01:19, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

Gout is a medical condition which creates painful crystals in the bloodstream, and a tuber is a common type of root for plants. This is definetly not a refrence.Pith helmetDuckmartins 18:54, 27 December 2008 (UTC)

look in the forums in the farming section. people sell for 300k often, while the market price is only 50k so it is very hard to buy one in the ge, like hard to sell shards in the ge. also this item will never lose value because no one could buy it for min in ge. hope that helps a little bit. moggar41

You can get this item after you used the Scroll of Life from Dungeoneering when picking Herbs from a Herb Patch.

(Doesn´t matter what kind of Herb you planted, i got mine from Dwarf Weeds)85.178.18.53 14:25, June 22, 2010 (UTC)

Will Spade from toolbelt work?[edit source]

The article says "Using a spade on the plant gives the player a tuber." I'd like to add a note about the spade in our tool belt working or not. I'm currently farming the jungle to find it out first hand, but if anyone knows it'd save me time. Thanks, 3ICE (talk) 23:37, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

Yes, it works. See below 3ICE (talk) 01:19, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Does the drop rate depend on jungle density[edit source]

I'm currently logging my drops and the density they came from, but in 91 (and counting) jungles cut back to the ground I have not seen any. It'd be quite hard to find it out via testing. On the other hand, gem rocks are quite common, I'm getting 1 in 5. 3ICE (talk) 23:37, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

  • 152 Light jungles - 0 tubers. Reached 300k profit. Got poisoned 7 times. Ran out of food, living on spider on stick. Moving on to medium...
  • 31 Medium jungles - 0 tubers. Leveled up to 93 woodcutting. Stuck at 100% favour, nobody to redeem trading sticks from. Moving on to dense... 3ICE (talk) 00:50, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
  • 32 Dense jungles - It dropped! I have a gout tuber and can confirm that the spade from my toolbelt works on it. Adding to article... 3ICE (talk) 00:58, September 4, 2012 (UTC)
  • 8 Dense jungles - Another! I decided to stick around and was not disappointed. This, however is not enough data to conclude anything. 3ICE (talk) 01:01, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

Additionally, the fact that I can hack jungles faster than turn in my favor for trading sticks can be overcome by only trading in over 90%. 3ICE (talk) 01:15, September 4, 2012 (UTC)

1% drop rate[edit source]
