question...

Do you think that giving magic exp freely with the low alchemy spell by E. ring a bug or a glitch?? Jd0064 21:53, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Does it? I assumed that you'd get the gold from the alch, but not the exp from casting it... I haven't really tried it myself though, so I don't know. It might not be a bug though, this isn't the first time Jagex would be giving free magic exp, abeit in a limited form (Fist of Guthix's free runes). I wouldn't consider it a bug, myself. Dark cavalier.png Regabuh (talk) (contribs) 21:56, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Well because of Home teleport (Lumbridge one) is kind of limited I thought this could be a glitch but imagine how much exp is for 30 low alchemy casts without runes and every day Jd0064 21:59, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Ok, I did some testing with the ring, and you actually lose 31 exp for each free low alch you cast. So if you cast it 30 times every day, you'd be losing 930 exp each day. So yeah, it's not a free source of exp by any means. Dark cavalier.png Regabuh (talk) (contribs) 02:45, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I was just testing this ring out and you do gain exp from it. I was on world 113 alching iron ores in the drawven mines if that means anything. lurker0_0 22:32, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
In your test you lost 31 remaining magic experience. That means you actually gain experience.
I tested it 2x and i got 31 Magic XP... I have Explorer's ring (3). WillCz 08:23, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
This will be useful when slayering to alch low level things such as mithril and steel items --Gold ore.png Mercifull UK serv.svg (Talk) 08:26, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I tested it twice as well. You definitely gain exp. --Ashura652 09:44, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
You're right, I didn't see that it was the XP Remaining going down... >_> Sorry for the mixup. Well with that said, I still don't think a free 930 exp a day is exactly game-breaking. Dark cavalier.png Regabuh (talk) (contribs) 15:49, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Cool! I hope that its not a bug, its a kind of worthy exp. And I love being a cabbage. Jd0064 12:30, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

So far I have gained 2-4 extra air runes per trip at lvl 79 runecrafting. The ring activated on every run of my test.

Hey big news I found that you dont need to wait for 24 hours to the ring being reset, You only need to wait for the next day.( Casting 30 times L.A. at 11:59 pm /reset/ casting another 30 at 12:01 am) Can someone put it on the mainpage? Jd0064 13:07, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

Another tip... you can use this item when mining runes essence from Sedridor at Wizard Tower providing a short trip to Draynor, although the route from Varrock is faster. you can use it when runecrafting air runes, it saves half way Jd0064 14:40, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

I found something interesting last night. When I was working on construction after completing the Achievement Diary, I teleported out using the ring. When I did, I noticed that the tea (which normally disappears when you leave) stayed with me. To test my theory, I went down to Karamja and bought some Karamjan rum, then teleported using the ring. Sure enough, it stayed with me. I sent a bug report, so it may be gone by now. Should this go on the article page? Elkayen 14:47, 15 July 2008 (UTC) A bug report...? Ralnon (talk) 00:25, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

Someone said "The run restore ability of the ring can stack from one day to another, so if you use 0 charges one day, and the next day you run a lot, you can use the ring for 6 charges for 3, even though it doesn't show up on the ring." Is this true? I think that it is most likely a bug or something.

The ability of the ring for run restore can stack from one day to another, but does the low alchemy stack as well? for example i didnt use it for 2 days, on the third day, would i get 90 alchs? (seems not possible, but i need to make sure)

No, if ever this was true, it is so no longer. After I quit for three months, my ring was still limited to a finite number of charges. However, if someone could confirm or disprove this themselves, it would be much appreciated. Ralnon (talk) 21:59, October 22, 2009 (UTC)

EXTRA EXPERIENCE FOR RUNECRAFTING[edit source]

Okay, I made 390 exp for 27 essences.(for earth runes) That's ~14.44 per essence.

I used earth runecrafting gloves(which would give 13 exp per essence).

However, I got ~14.44 per essence instead.

As a result, the explorer's ring gives 10% to ~11.11% extra exp.

Also, according to the article, extra runes created, were about 1/8 Statistically(or... more likely, ~11.11% per essence)

VALIDATE PLEASE Player Froob 17:42, December 28, 2009 (UTC)

First, Froob, I suggest adding any new section to the bottom of a Talk page - it stands a significantly better chance of being noticed and responded to.
As I recall, for each ess rc'd, the ring gives a 10% (or so) chance to "activate" & get an extra rune. (I've seen it reported as exactly 10%, though I never did enough testing to confirm this independently.) For each extra rune granted by the ring, you get normal xp (but not doubled for FoG RC gloves). So, the expected xp per ess crafted at the Earth altar, wearing Earth Runecrafting gloves, would be (6.5 *2) + (0.1 * 6.5) = 13.65. Obviously, this is just an average, so unless you repeat several times, your value may be significantly different. The ring doesn't "activate" for exactly 10% of the ess - for each individual ess, it has a 10% chance of activating. (I don't want to go any deeper into discussion of statistics here.)
From your numbers, it would appear that the ring "activated" for ten of the 27 ess, which is a significantly higher number than expected. Certainly not out of the range of possibility, though.
It's also possible that a change has occurred and the xp doubling of the gloves also applies to the "extra" runes from the ring - I haven't tested it in a very long time. In which case, the ring activated for five of the 27 ess. JalYt-Mej-Wynde 18:10, December 28, 2009 (UTC)

WTF!?[edit source]

Ok, i started playing at 8:50 am waste all my LA charges very soon on steel p8skirt, yay 400 coins each, well lets continue... I wasted all my R. run in a race from Lumby to Fally without tele with a friend. yeah I know waste of all things.

But the weird thing its that at 7:10 pm (mining mith at dwarven mine) I got a lag, reset the page of RS, and when I started playing again it said that my ring has recharged. so i started LA cabbages and reach lvl 51 magic =P Jd0064 00:39, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, the ring seems to recharge itself at a set time always, rather than 24 hours after you use the first charge. I would imagine it's something like 00:00 GMT or something like that, would make most sense. Dark cavalier.png Regabuh (talk) (contribs) 00:42, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

It resets the ring at a certain time of day regardless of when charges used.

Teleporting[edit source]

Does the teleport work in deep wilderness? 99.238.14.185 01:23, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Nope, the other day I was off in the F2P Ice Plateau, got bored, and tried it, so, yeah, doesnt work....I was hoping itd atleast be like Glory Ammy and give you until 30...

Just wondering[edit source]

Can random events appear while casting L.A.????Jd0064 21:09, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Is is really the fastest way to air runecraft?[edit source]

I just tested a few times and it seems that simply running to falador's east bank to the altar is faster by at least 10-12 seconds.

Of course is not the fastest, My mistake I apologize. It helps me ion mining at the Crafting guild. Je suis desole189.159.83.22 19:21, 22 August 2008 (UTC) Ohhh Im witting from my lap (JD0064)

Air rune crafting without cabbage teleport takes for me personally about 1:29 minutes, while if I use cabbage teleport and bank at draynor it takes around 1:39 minutes. Since it is obviously not the fastest way to runecraft air runes I will edit it. Wejer 17:09, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

ZMI altar[edit source]

Can you get extra runes from the ring while crafting at the ourania altar? --Gold ore.png Mercifull UK serv.svg (Talk) 13:39, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

No, it only works on elemental altars. Runite ore.png Icy001(talk) Rune bar.png 02:52, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
Still it's useful at the Ourania altar, 'cause of the recharges. Quest point cape detail.png Brux Talk 01:33, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Does cabbage tleporting give u mage exp[edit source]

im just wondering that Signatures/Fellows55

No, it does not. Kudos 2 U 00:57, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Reset time[edit source]

Should we add to the article that the ring resets at 00:00 GMT time? I'm almost certain that it does. 00:00 GMT is equal to 7:00 PM Eastern time (my time zone), and every time it passes 7:00 PM, I log off and log back in and voila. It's recharged. Even when I run out of charges at 6:50 PM. It's also interesting that I have to log out for it to recharge; it never gives me the message that it's recharged while in-game.

Added to the article. Zeldafanjtl 00:16, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Farming patch spirit[edit source]

I teleported with the ring and waited alot, but the spirit didn't appear... Is it true that it appears?--Quest point cape detail.png Brux Talk 21:58, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

She is no longer a 'reward' from the ring - she'll appear to any low level farmer and remind them that they don't have to stay around to watch their plants grow. Orbie 23:21, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Confirmed. I use the ring almost daily, and it has not appeared. Indeed, I have been using it for a year, and I have never seen the spirit before. I must assume it has been removed by JaGex. However, do not be overly displeased, for I still consider the ring among my personal top items, as do many, as can be supported by the RuneScape Forums. Believe it or not, seeing this ring as part of the rewards was actually the main reason I started playing the game again. You might find that funny, and it may sound sad, but it's actually true. Ralnon (talk) 00:20, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

Why does it have Low-Alch before equip?[edit source]

I'm asking because i accidentally alched my air RC gloves with full charges. I'M STILL ANGRY ABOUT IT!!! --212.149.182.234 09:44, 14 July 2009 (UTC)

Then, my friend, perhaps it would be best to be more careful while doing so in the future. Banking valuable items and then low-alcheming might be greatly effective and safe. Use common items if you seek to merely gain Magic experience. Examples have been provided on the article page. Ralnon (talk) 20:28, September 15, 2009 (UTC)

Indeed, be more careful Wink and the RS Wiki doesn't make the game like that, Jagex does! Hehe, try asking them in the official RuneScape forums Smile Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 20:30, September 15, 2009 (UTC)

Entrana Dialogue[edit source]

I am sorry, but we do not allow the explorer's ring on our holy island. Really? Whyever not? Its magic is too strong and may cause disruption in some areas. That sounds very interesting. Can you tell me more? Curiosity and the cat, my friend. Needless to say, you will need to place the ring in your bank first.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ralnon (talk).

Split[edit source]

Starting discussion on split tag added by User:Azliq7

Split - per RS:G as these are three distinct items. The 3rd ring is quite different from the other 2 in terms of usage because of the cabbage port, I think. What do people think? Air rune.png Tollerach hates SoF Fire rune.png 21:17, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Agreed - Per RS:G. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 22:07, January 11, 2010 (UTC)

Agreed - Per RS:G as well. Prgmbeta 01:44, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

Strongly agree - This should've been a seperate article in the first place. Also per RS:G. ~ Fire Surge icon.png Sentry Telos Talk  03:13, January 17, 2010 (UTC)

Comment: Well, I do not wish to violate Wikia policy, but merging all three into one article has worked pretty well for most people. The Explorer's ring is unique in that it is the one free-to-play reward, and all three are just alternate versions as much as they are separate items. Putting all this information together does not appear to be completely unreasonable. However, I have no wish to waste more of my time here arguing over article changes, so do what you think is best. Good day, Ralnon (talk) 22:22, January 25, 2010 (UTC)

Agreed - They should've been separate since the rings were released, also, per RS:G AND per the fact that every other diary reward is split, making it even easier to understand. Quest point cape detail.png Brux Talk 20:24, February 17, 2010 (UTC)

Split - Consensus has probably been reached, I just thought that I would comment anyway. Unicorn horn dust.png Evil Yanks talk 06:14, February 25, 2010 (UTC)

Split - Shall we get started...? --Coolnesse 15:22, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

Anyone can split the pages if they want now. Since this is about splitting, only about 3 people are needed for consensus to be called safely. Unicorn horn dust.png Evil Yanks talk 09:26, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

Able to Low-Alch Itself[edit source]

Before, when trying to use the ring's low-alchemy on itself, it says that the ring refuses to cast that on itself. Now the explorer's ring is able to low-alch itself for 140 gp and high-alch for 210 gp. I've done it with the 3rd and 4th version. Is this a glitch or a deliberate update?Guthix's Book of Balance.pngLunt0er 19:56, September 8, 2010 (UTC)

More than likely a glitch or an overlooked aspect. Star FindTalk 20:02, September 8, 2010 (UTC)
