This talk page is for discussing the Dungeoneering journals page.

Untitled[edit source]

It needs to be split into dozens of pages for each book. Each book is obtained differently, has different contents, a different name and possibly a different look. Since this is so much right up RS:G's alley, don't even bother having a discussion, just split it! I will make a navbox to encourage the split as I really don't enjoy making new pages, but navboxes are fun! Unicorn horn dust.png Evil Yanks talk 07:42, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

  • I don't like the idea of splitting this article up - it's really nice to have ALL of the lore for Daemonheim in a single place. However, adding sub-pages for each book and chronicle would not be unwelcome - it should just be in addition to the current page, rather than replacing it. 18:41, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
    • The problem with not splitting at all is that it means that we don't have any info about lots of the items. Currently we don't know what the items are called, which boss drops them, what level of the dungeon it is in or even any of the basic item info like whether it is members only ar equipable. I do like the idea of all the text being left here as that is how it is shown in the quest journal and will do so, though each section is an item in its own right and needs the item specific info. Unicorn horn dust.png Evil Yanks talk 02:23, April 15, 2010 (UTC)
      • The Mysterious Chronicles are dropped randomly.

Are we sure there is M. and Thok part 7? If you open the ring dungeon journal thing there is no space after 6 (else the numbers won't be symmetrical) for a part 7 to exist. Lathow 14:30, April 20, 2010 (UTC)

This is a navbox[edit source]

I am not fully sure what the name of each item is in-game so I will post the navbox I made without the exact links here until I finish another level in-game.

It is "Stalker notes (part 1)". Unicorn horn dust.png Evil Yanks talk 08:09, April 16, 2010 (UTC)
I added nowiki so that it won't possibly create wanted pages. Unicorn horn dust.png Evil Yanks talk 05:49, April 21, 2010 (UTC)

where's part 2?[edit source]

Why there is no part 2 for the miscellaneous section? Jampolo 23:37, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

Because no one has gotten it so far, or no one who has bothered to put it on the wiki. HaloTalk 19:17, May 2, 2010 (UTC)

OK, seriously, either everybody agreed not to add its contents to this page, either someone's vandalising the page by continually erasing part 2 of the miscellaneous journals, either it's the rarest of the journals or simply Jagex hasn't added it yet...probably the latter. Jampolo 01:44, May 29, 2010 (UTC)

  • I'm pretty sure it's just because Jagex hasn't added it yet, because nobody has it.

Finally they added it, man about time, I mean, been like 8 months already. Jampolo 01:28, November 3, 2010 (UTC)

bosses[edit source]

does a certain boss drop only 1 of these? for example, if i kill astea, will i just get 1, or, if i keep killing her enough times will i get all the journals? Third age robe top.png 3rd age farcaster Third age druidic robe top.png 03:01, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

Okay, this is basically how it works (as far as I know):
  • Each boss has their own specific journal, that only they can drop.
  • M and Thok journals may be dropped by any monster throughout the dungeon, they roughly are divided up into sections of ~6 floors.
  • The mysterious chronicles are only dropped by bosses, they are roughly divided up to be 1 journal every ~2 floors.

I could be wrong, but as of now, that is basically how I believe it works. HaloTalk 03:14, May 13, 2010 (UTC)

So wait...[edit source]

Does that mean that you get part 1 on floor 6, part 2 on floor 12, part 3 on floor 18, etc? Blaze fire12 23:27, May 29, 2010 (UTC)

No. It means you get them on floors 1-6, 7-12, 13-18, 19-24, 25-30, 31-35. Roughly. Not exactly. HaloTalk 23:27, May 29, 2010 (UTC)
Awesome. That means I don't have to ever go back into the frozen floors... Blaze fire12 23:29, May 29, 2010 (UTC)
Every boss has an unique journal drop, we should change the articles to reflect this imo 16:23, June 23, 2010 (UTC)

I got the 15th Bilrach note on floor 29, which matches the speculation that you get it on floor 29-30. In it is noted he reaches the halfway mark (which given that a dungeoneering level of 120 should let you reach floor 60, makes sense). I still have part 13 to get, which I expect will appear on floor 25-26. I currently have level 60 Dungeoneering, meaning I can access down to floor 30, but I already have Marmaros & Thok notes 6, missing notes 4. EDIT: Got M&T notes part 4 on floor 17. Obsidian charm.png Magma2050 T C E Obsidian charm.png 17:42, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
Sweet, I'm missing those...gonna try floor 17 right now...HaloTalk 17:44, July 27, 2010 (UTC)
16th Bilrach note on first entry into floor 31. Obsidian charm.png Magma2050 T C E Obsidian charm.png 16:39, August 3, 2010 (UTC)
13th on floor 26, 17th on floor 34, 20th on floor 39. All of them only dropped in that specific 2-floor gap. Too much of a pattern to be a coincidence, so I've mentioned it on the page.

Missed Journals[edit source]

Is it possible to miss a journal and then never be able to get it again? I have not gotten Chronicales of Bilrach Part 3 but I have Part 1, Part 2, and have started to get every part after 3. Why have I not been able to get part 3? It's the same thing for M and Thok Part 4.--Darth Malice the Destroyer 01:51, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

They just get freakishly rare I think. Because I've been getting them slowly. HaloTalk 17:44, July 27, 2010 (UTC)

Journals to come[edit source]

So far, there has been a chronicle for each boss, not necessarily dropped by said boss, as well as a unique journal that is. This means that there are 3 new miscellaneous entries, if the pattern continues, and if the Warped floors follow the pattern and have 6 bosses per theme, then there will be 30 chronicles in total, as well as a fifth stalker, behemoth, and Kal'Gerion notes. Alos, on the subject of Kal'Gerion notes, how do you spell Bal'lak? The others have the letter after the ' capitalized, so is that an i or an L? Ergori 01:40, August 20, 2010 (UTC)

Copyright[edit source]

What's the point in the copyright tag, if you delete everything which is copied directly from RuneScape, Liquidhelium. I suggest you to delete all books from the wiki, plus the news, plus the galleries, plus the postbag, plus the letters to the chaos elemental. Seriously ...

I consider it fair use, but there is an edit war here. I suggest that this page be protected. 13:46, October 11, 2010 (UTC)

Might as well just delete the wiki! I reverted one, but then that got reverted as well...--Klay king61 00:22, November 3, 2010 (UTC)
I started a thread on the forums about this, so we'll see where that goes! QFC: 14-15-835-61860254 --Klay king61 00:32, November 3, 2010 (UTC)
Ok...unfortunately, according to a thread about book contents, they are in fact breaking copyright... :(. At least we can always look in the page history if we really want... --Klay king61 18:52, November 6, 2010 (UTC)
I know it may be breaking copyright but are there any adequate reasons for removing these? Although we can workd around it by adding summary of the text found in the journals. --Flajuram 21:22, November 7, 2010 (UTC)
Since it was decided to remove all book contents, shouldn't there be some sort of summaries somewhere?
This thing was went through way too fast, particularly because of some psychotic republican. --Jeremias920 1/8/2011
well, can I see this "thread"?The QFC brought me to a non-existing thread. 20:48, March 27, 2011 (UTC)

Journal Entries[edit source]

Uh...What happened to all the journal entries here? Who removed them and why?--Jlun2 11:50, October 16, 2010 (UTC)

Misc 18 Letter to an Acolyte.[edit source]

Here it is:

Dear Acolyte,
It is with great regret that I write this letter. You have been with us now for a number of years, and your service to our cause has been greatly appreciated, however your time with us must come to a close. We hope this decision will not sway your faith, or upset your memories of this place you called home.
We wish you every success on the road ahead, for we know it will not be easy. Please know that we will ve thinking of you and praying that you find purpose in this world and the next.
-Your brothers and sisters.

Note text[edit source]

It used to be that the wiki had everything written in the notes you picked up listed in their articles. What happened?

To comply with fair use policies vs. copyright, it was decided, I think, that verbatim transcripts of text purely for the purpose of having them there (like Juna's responses for all stories you can tell her) could not be justified in the grand scheme of things. Consequently there was a great purge of all written documents the likes of which had not been seen since Fahrenheit 451. Obsidian charm.png Magma2050 T C E Obsidian charm.png 20:56, December 27, 2010 (UTC)

Where is the journal text?[edit source]

There was the journal text of each journal here before. Where did they go? I think we need to copy down every journal of Dungeoneering to this wiki so people could read them.

We are not "allowed" to directly quote the text of the journals, although we should get work towards summarising the information in the journals if we don't have that information already. I have found this thread on the RS forums which seems to have a lot of the journal content. --Henneyj 16:59, April 27, 2011 (UTC)

Got a Bilrach Chronicle earlier than normal[edit source]

I just completed Floor 36 for the first time, and after killing the Skeletal Trio, I got Chronicle #19 as a drop. From my understanding, the formula for this is supposed to be [page # times 2] or [page # times 2 minus 1]. 19 * 2 = Floor 38 or Floor 37...

Don't know if this is a bug or whatever, but I figure I'd leave this information here just in case anyone else ever experiences the same thing... Darkness Squall (talk) 00:16, September 2, 2013 (UTC)

Requirement for journal to be stored[edit source]

There seems to be a discrepency between these two statements on how the journals are automatically stored.

From the introduction:

"'Dungeoneering journal pages and books are monster drops found while exploring the Dungeoneering dungeons at Daemonheim. Journals that have been read are automatically stored, and can be accessed again by talking to theDungeoneering tutor on the surface near the entrance (previously accessed through the Ring of kinship). Once a page is stored in this way, it is never received as a drop again. In order for the Journals to be stored, it has to be picked up."

Is the first statement correct (the journal has to be both picked up and read to be stored), or is the second statement correct (the journal simply has to be picked up, and doesn't have to be read, for it to be stored)?  Basically, is reading the journal a requirement for it to be stored?

Zants (talk) 01:22, March 24, 2014 (UTC)

I tested this with a few journals today while Dungeoneering.  You simply need to pick up the journal, you do not need to read it for it to be stored.
Zants (talk) 04:18, March 25, 2014 (UTC)

Miscellaneous Journals[edit source]

Are you sure its 1/1000 in the first 15 journals? I think its 1/4 on the first 15 and 1/1000 on the other ones.

Drop rates were mentioned by Mod Manti on the original MQC forum thread which can now be found partially on reddit. Farming-icon.png Salix of Prifddinas (Talk) Prifddinas lodestone icon.png 19:46, December 6, 2016 (UTC)
