I know what it looks like[edit source]

Well, in a YouTube video, theres a tutorial on how to download a certain program that lets you look at every single model in RuneScape, including chatheads, textures, walls/grounds, 3d items, etc. Heres the tutorial: and here's the same channels video showing it along with a few models INCLUDING THE D PICKAXE: I've downloaded the program, just yesterday... and I found alot of things. Including THE SOUL ALTAR, THE SOUL STAFF, THE SOUL TAB (soul rune in a tab), MUSIC SKILLCAPE, THE DRAGONPICKAXE, AND MUCH MORE. It's like, uber hawt, so would anyone like me to post pictures in their respective future objects/etc. articles? Cuz I really think people would enjoy seeing pictures of upcoming things :P --Lil diriz 77 03:57, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Btw, the program has over like.. 56000 models. So you know it's not fake :O it's really, really hawt.--Lil diriz 77 04:00, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Ugh, no. Not only would that ruin the surprise, you COULD be lying. 7kyt1iT.gif --WINE OF GOOD HEALTH (Actually Stinko) 04:03, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Aww =[ But... want me to show you anyway? I won't make you download the whole thing, it's perfectly safe, but takes a while, soo I could take some screenshots and show you ^_^ --Lil diriz 77 04:07, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
No thanks. I've started a Yew Grove discussion about actually revealing such "info", however. You can find it here. Sorry if I sounded mean, but I'm tired... 7kyt1iT.gif --WINE OF GOOD HEALTH (Actually Stinko) 04:09, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Ik you're not trying to sound mean but... how come Soul tiara and Soul talisman both have revealed/leaked info on them? ;] They found those through URL Manipulation, I found mine through looking through Jagex's files. Lol, thanks to someone who must've.. idk, how the hell would they take all those files from jagex, then put them in a downloadable file? O_o --Lil diriz 77 04:11, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
Please do upload some pictures of these items using Photobucket. It would be very interesting to see them. ~ Fire Surge icon.png Sentry Telos Talk  04:44, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

I find you hilarious. Photoshopped? ROFL. Have you ever thought that maybe that was just a PROTOTYPE and that the image I provided was OLD? That it was THEIR FIRST IDEA OF WHAT A DRAGON PICKAXE MIGHT LOOK LIKE? HMM? Did you even look to see that my post was TWO GOD DAMN MONTHS AGO AND THAT WE HAD A WHOLE DISCUSSION ABOUT IT here? I'd appreciate it if you don't accuse me of photoshopping my images, you truly have no idea who I am, or where I got these images from. NOW, maybe if you had some common sense and asked me where I got them from, you wouldn't have thought this. I'm a regular editor here, I'm not some kind of spammer/scammer advertising his models of a fake dragon pickaxe. I don't even have Photoshop tbh -.-. Get over it, this conversation has been over for two months. That image I found was a prototype. Get over it. --Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 21:04, September 9, 2009 (UTC)
What i can understand from the video you are making contact with the RS servers to download all the images. If that is the case you are violating the RS terms and agreements. Your IP might get banned if they find out. It is highly illegal to interact with RS servers in any other way than with a webbrowser. People have gotten perm IP banned for it. -- Ruderion (Talk) Farming cape (t).png 12:07, September 12, 2009 (UTC)
Oh my god. Do you people know how to read? Ruderion, I wasn't even talking to you, and you have NO IDEA how the program works. The files are already stored on your computer the first time you play the game. When you first click the "play now" button, a folder is specifically added to your computer. What the program the video shows (and the one I used) TAKES the files, and it converts them into a format that is READABLE. So really, all I'm doing is reading the files that Jagex put on my computer. THIS CONVERSATION HAS BEEN OVER FOR TWO MONTHS, PLEASE READ Forum:Reveal leaked info? ACCUSING ME OF DOING SOME ILLEGAL WHATNOT. Unless you've read that WHOLE PAGE, you know nothing about what I was talking about, and I see no point for you to reply to me again. Seriously. This section of the Talk:Dragon pickaxe article has been closed for two months. Stop posting here, the conversation is over. It's simple. --Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 17:36, September 12, 2009 (UTC)

Sorry. It's just that this gets me annoyed, very annoyed, how people keep bothering me about something that happened two months ago. I shouldn't be accused of something I didn't do, especially with no proof. How does Ikbenbeter know I photoshopped it? No proof? Wrong. How does Ruderion know so much about the program that it's illegal? No proof. Wrong! I'd rather not be posting here at all right now. If I could put a big "CONVERSATION IS CLOSED" sign over this section, I would. It just angers me how people randomly come up with these things 'cause it might not be real. Just because I didn't get the picture from, or from some kind of easter egg in game, does it mean it's illegal or photoshopped? No. I wish people would just leave me alone about it. --Quest point cape.pngLil Diriz 77 Talk Summoning-icon.png 18:46, September 12, 2009 (UTC)
-Sigh-, again, sorry. Even in my last post I was heated, which is not cool. I feel like I have to keep coming back to this page just to check and see if Chaos Monk replied, or maybe Ikbenbeter. How it will affect Mining and the Inferno Adze[edit source]

Hey guys, if a Dragon pickaxe is released and has a skill requirement of 61 Mining (most likely), what will happen with the Inferno Adze? I mean, it will still have a requirement of 41 or players below 61 Mining will fill the forums with complaints?--THIS IS SPARTAARGH! 00:10, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

A good point. It is my opinion (or rather hope) that Jagex will either automatically increase the level requirement and speed of the adze (to those of the dragon pick), or have a new miniquest to upgrade the adze (possibly with an added ability when mining, similar to the firemaking ability - 5% chance of automatically smelting a bar from any ore with a very high smithing requirement (90+) maybe?). Or of course they might do nothing. Though if it is improved I would think not having a miniquest would degrade the dragon pickaxe's value. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 20:54, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
In that case, the best option would be to put a hard miniquest with All Fired Up as a requirement. The Smithing requirement is good, considering the fact that maybe not everyone can just go and get an Inferno Adze. If it has really hard requirements, the Dragon pick's value may stay high. Compare it to the Dragon Hatchet. Since the release of the Inferno Adze, its value has lowered? I think not, because if we resume the total requirements for the Inferno Adze, and compare them to those of the Dragon Hatchet, the Dragon Hatchet is much more of a "low level" item than the Inferno Adze, but it's still very expensive and hard to get other than the Grand Exchange.--THIS IS SPARTAARGH! 21:04, 31 August 2009 (UTC)

It says that the street price was 60M+ when released, but it hasnt even reached 5m and there is a trade limit so it cant be 60M

Chaos Dwarf Cannoneers DO drop the Dragon Pickaxe.[edit source]

It is confirmed. I got one myself earlier today. Happy :D

I also have one on my log atm incase anybody would like confirmation, Xaxa is the RSN!

Resemblance?[edit source]

I was wondering what was wrong with this paragraph?

There are some similarities between the pick and Riku's Keyblade in Kingdom Hearts II, most noticeably the top of the shaft of the pick corresponding with the design of the blade, with the head of the pick in place of the wing.

I thought this was a pretty valid point, yet it seems to have been removed... Follow the link embeded in the 'Keyblade' to check out the resemblance... Gr33nday345 15:34, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

Personally I think the resemblance is close enough to note, however in the defence of whoever deleted it, we at the wiki typically never document when an item looks like another item from a different universe, unless the similarity is extremely obvious enough to the point of it being a cultural reference, like the Idol of many heads. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 19:23, September 11, 2009 (UTC)
K, cheers for explaining :P Gr33nday345 19:24, September 11, 2009 (UTC)
Yes there is a resemblance but i don't think it has a place in this article. The design of the pick is surely meant to emulate the similar design on the halberd which came out in 2004 (a year before KH2). --Gold ore.png Mercifull UK serv.svg (Talk) 19:28, September 11, 2009 (UTC)

Chaos Dwarves DO drop the Dragon Pickaxe.[edit source]

I got one today and so did my mate from Chaos Dwarfs'. It even states that they drop them in the Runescape KB. ~Vlady

Can you link the page where it says so? Also, this is extraordinarily unlikely, so we'd need an independent confirmation of this. The Knowledge Base has been wrong from time to time. Jagex makes mistakes all the time. For instance, the Knowledge Base, for years, said that the Magic Longbow special attack had a 100% chance of dealing damage, however this was not the case at all. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 17:38, September 16, 2009 (UTC)
The famed dragon pickaxe can also be found by killing chaos dwarves here. It will only be obtained by the most patient and persistent of chaos dwarf fighters, but it is worth it: the dragon pickaxe has a potent special attack and is the highest level pickaxe currently in the game.
I found it for you. Maybe its a 'true extremely rare' drop from them (on par with Dragon chain form dusties, or dragon spear from skeletons, or something like that). Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 18:23, September 16, 2009 (UTC)
Is it any chaos dwarves, like the ones in the wildy or in the Taverly dungeon, or is it only the ones in that battlefield? kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 18:37, September 16, 2009 (UTC)

Essence mining[edit source]

"Players have done tests to determine the speed of the pickaxe as compared to a Rune pickaxe, and they have found that when using the Dragon pickaxe, they get approximately 10% more Pure essence in a set amount of time as compared to the amount of essence mined in the same amount of time using a Rune pickaxe." I have a hard time believing this, as essence mining appears to reach a speed cap once you get a rune pickaxe, similar to iron. This was unsourced as well, so I have deleted it. --troacctid 01:54, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

Well yes it reaches a cap once you get a rune pickaxe, but it seems natural that the cap would increase as your quality of pickaxe does... I didn't add this and I haven't done any tests with the pick, but it sounds reasonable to me. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 02:03, September 21, 2009 (UTC)

The speed increase is true, I've compared it over the past 3 weeks.

Droprate[edit source]

Estimations show droprates from Dwogres to be approximately 1/1000 and Chaos dwarf hand cannoneer to be approximately 1/2500. However I am curious about a more accurate number.Quest capeGundoggyTalk Contribs #Blue hallowe'en mask 20:34, June 9, 2010 (UTC)

They are educated estimations.... I don't think we can come up with an accurate number precisely, but I still think they are relevant in that they give people some idea of how rare it actually is and are therefore beneficial to keep unless someone has a more accurate number to state. Dragon Pickaxe vs. Rune Pickaxe[edit source]

A study using both dragon pickaxe and rune pickaxe was done within the Living Rock Caverns on concentrated gold rocks. On average the dragon pickaxe was able to mine a pack of gold 15 seconds faster than a rune pickaxe. Keep in mind this study was done using a mining level of 88 without a mining boost of any kind.

Dragon Pickaxe Statistics:

Average: 90.27 seconds/pack

Standard Deviation: 15.72 seconds/pack

Sample Size: 48 packs

Fastest Time: 64 seconds

Slowest Time: 137 seconds

Rune Pickaxe Statistics:

Average: 105.93 seconds/pack

Standard Deviation: 17.07 seconds/pack

Sample Size: 30 packs

Fastest Time: 73 seconds

Slowest Time: 143 seconds

Two Sample T-Test

Let U1 = Average speed of rune pickaxe. Let U2 = Average speed of dragon pickaxe.

Ho: U1=U2

Ha: U1>U2

The assumptions are met. The p-value is 7.399 x10^-5

At the 0.0073% Significance level, we reject the null hypothesis and favour the alternative that the average speed of dragon pickaxe is greater than that of the rune pickaxe. Thus meaning that the average speed of dragon pickaxe is significantly faster than the average speed of the rune pickaxe. Therefore if you are planning on leveling your mining skill you should use the dragon pickaxe to decrease time.

The above was listed in the article itself. It is not, however, encyclopedic content. Someone else is welcome to add a section to the article explaining that testing has shown the dragon pick to be the fastest in terms of ores mined per hour. --Andorin (Talk) (Contribs) 16:44, March 19, 2011 (UTC)

RoW does affect Dragon pickaxe drop[edit source]

I just got a dragon pickaxe drop while wearing my ring of wealth, when it dropped it did the "your ring of wealth shines more brightly!" phrase. So since I don't see anything here on the page or talk page and I have always wondered if the wealth affects the drop I have to assume other people were wondering to. That being said I'll add the relevant info to the article. I know that this doesn't mean a lot as for "evidence" but my name is Aliena Ferox and if you check my a log now (and in the next few days) as the info will disappear as I do more RS activities you'll see the dragon pick drop in my adventures log. Also the null glitch is going on right now so it will say "After killing a chaos dwarf cannoneer it dropped "null" but that's only said when it drops the d pick, so that's definitely it. 10:49, April 11, 2011 (UTC)Aliena Ferox

Dropping NPCs[edit source]

While on pickaxe's page it'll only mention chaos dwogres and chaos dwarf hand cannoneers as the droppers, in chaos dwarf's page, it be showing pixkace as drop, aswel? Makes wodner, is this so, or what?..

It does, I should have checked the talk page before editing it. Look a few posts above Blasty Talk

Sorry, didn't catch that. Can you make you text more capitalised? Full Slayer Helmet! Evil1888 Talk A's L Dragon Platebody! 00:08, June 3, 2011 (UTC)
I guess I overdid it a bit. :P Just making sure it's seen so people don't change it back. Whoever claimed it shined either was lying or not paying attention, or it shone from something else (like if he killed two monsters at once).
Jagex confirmed it should not affect d pick drops several times. The ring sometimes shines more brightly but you get no drop. It may shine more brightly when you get 3 extra gp, and you might get a d pick int he same drop, so this is not evidence of anything.

Research - Comparison to Rune Pickaxe at Level 99[edit source]

This data is thanks to User:The HypnoToad / Atom Smash40

A test of 20 full inventory trips resulted in an average time of 1:29.7 for the dragon pickaxe and 1:32.0 with the rune pickaxe. This is a reduction of only 2.5%, lower than a 5% level of significance. Therefore no significant difference can be concluded from this testing. This is not in keepeing with suggested speed difference at lower levels. Full data can be seen here: [1]

Base Chance[edit source]

I noticed in the new game guide that the picks have a bonus base chance listed. The dragon pickaxe is listed at +12% base chance, with a rune pickaxe at +10%. I figure this information would be important to put on all pickaxe pages.

How much of a difference does it make compared to Rune?[edit source]

How much of a difference does it make when mining with a Dragon Pickaxe vs a Rune Pickaxe? At level 75 lets say. Also, does the speed make you mine Divine Rocks faster too? Puretppc (talk) 03:52, October 8, 2014 (UTC)

I can't remember the exact number, but I think it was in the range of 5–15%, I'll ask around tomorrow when I'm back on if anyone remembers. Also, I don't think it does affect divine locations. It might though, that would be interesting to test. I'm leaning towards not likely because your daily limit already prevents you from mining as much as you want, and the locations are not a competitive activity. MolMan 04:09, October 8, 2014 (UTC)
The Divine Locations question part was because Divine Runite lasts very short so it may most likely not fill up fast. Also, thanks in advance for the numbers :) Puretppc (talk) 04:21, October 8, 2014 (UTC)
To my knowledge, it shouldn 't affect divine locations. When those were released, Jagex said that divine locations were like resource spots where you simply do not have a chance to 'fail' an action; so resources should be received as fast as possible, regardless of tool used. That said, it would be interesting to test none the less. IP83.101.44.209 (talk) 04:27, October 8, 2014 (UTC)

1) Good luck on encountering the Lava Flow creature that will Gild it for you.

2) Take the Gilded Dragon Pickaxe to Thurgo. It will require 4 fragments, which can be hunted off of Lava Geysers. Also, bring 1m. He will turn it into an Imcando Pickaxe.

3) Get 4000 Harmonic Dusts.

4) Talk to Lady Ithell to upgrade it into a Crystal Pickaxe.

5) Talk to her again to revert it into a Dragon Pickaxe. Puretppc (talk) 04:14, January 13, 2015 (UTC)
