Untitled[edit source]

Should we change the pictures? From my understanding, they shouldn't display players so prominently... Sir Revan125 19:43, 24 July 2008 (UTC) 19:43, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

New info[edit source]

According to the article in the "Orb of Oculus" a new area can be seen with various skeletons. Please confirm it its true and if so, any pictures? -KingBlackChicken

I've seen it!! its actually the Death altar! --Grhaal.

Looked around with the Orb[edit source]

Ive been in the cosmic altar and Ive seen with the orb:

North: Deep, empty space.

West: Cosmic entity Plane. You can even see some bits without the orb.

East: Death altar.

South: more deep, empty space.

Hope it helps!

Cosmic altar view[edit source]

North entrance. looking north east. you seem to be able to see some grey rings with what appears to be some kiteshields. I just want to confirm that its something that is actually there and if this could be a hint as to where in space the actual altar is. I also noticed that the farthest east ring(s) seem to be going up an unseen hill. Just wondering if anybody else has seen an area that looks like this?  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.117.95.28 (talk) on 21:42, 19 December 2011 (UTC).

Didn't think this could happen.[edit source]

Since the actual altars exist somewhere in space, I would think beings other then humans with talismans wouldn't be able to enter the altar. I just saw a young Impling wandering around in there. knowing that you need a talisman to get in, would the young impling possibly, if caught and looted, have a cosmic talisman? Just some wierd thinking.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.117.95.28 (talk) on 21:47, 19 December 2011 (UTC).

Implings have the ability to move between planes almost at will, like between the RC altar planes, Gielinor, and Puro-Puro. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 22:39, December 19, 2011 (UTC)

What determines spawn location inside the altar?[edit source]

Is it known what determines where you'll spawn in the altar?  There are four portals (north, south, east, west) and it seems to randomly place you at one of them after clicking the Mysterious ruins in Zanaris (further, you seem to randomly spawn at one of the locations around the portal itself - at least north, south, east, and west, and maybe also diagonal squares?).  Is it simply random, or is it determined by something you're doing when you click the Mysterious ruins to enter the altar?

Some things I've tried testing:

  1. I thought it might be like the cabbageport of the Explorer's ring 3/4 (where you spawn facing the same direction you were facing when you used it), but—although you do spawn in facing the same direction—it doesn't seem to determine your actual spawn location.
  1. Doesn't appear to be determined by the direction your map (camera) is facing.
  1. Doesn't appear to be determined by which direction from the Mysterious ruins you're standing when you click them.
  1. 4. Maybe where at on the Mysterious ruins you click plays a factor (haven't yet tested).  For example, if you click on one of its east tiles you might spawn in the east location?

I tested the four things from above at once (thanks to Cook Me Plox for the suggestion :p).
Test 1:
  • Character facing south
  • Camera facing south up
  • Standing directly north of altar
  • Clicking north-most center tile of altar
Portal Direction from portal Times duplicated (up to that point)
West East
East West
East West 2
North South
North South

2

North South 3
South North
East West 3
North South 4
West East 2
South North 2
West East 3

Test 2:
  • Character facing east (turns north when clicked)
  • Camera facing west up
  • Standing at south-east corner of altar
  • Clicking north-east tile of altar
Portal Direction from portal Times duplicated (up to that point)
South North
South North 2
South North 3
South North 4
South North 5
North South
West East
North South 2
North South 3
East West
North South 4
South North 6
Results:
  • The direction around the portal itself isn't random (and isn't ever one of the diagonals), it's always the same outcome determined by the portal's location (opposite of the portal direction you're at): if you spawn at the North portal, you'll spawn on the South side of it; if you spawn at the West Portal, you'll spawn on the East side of it, etc.
  • Despite the streak in the second test (and the South portal accounting for half of the results), each portal probably has a 25% chance of occurring and doesn't take into account how you entered.
