Clan Mate List[edit source]

I keep a very detailed list of my clan mates using data from the clan mate list provided us in the Clan Home Page.

I have a couple issues at the moment, and any clear help is greatly appreciated.

Firstly, I like to keep my spreadsheet of clanmates in the same order as they appear on the one provided us by Jagex for ease of comparison. Why does the one they provide keep switching the order when people are not name changing, leaving clan (losing a clanmate) or entering clan (gaining a clanmate)? I can't for the life of me see a pattern why names are switching around. When it first came out, it showed us in descending rank, and those of the same rank showed the ones who were newest to clan last. It was perfect. Now it still shows us in descending rank, but those of the same rank seem to be randomly chosen to display before others. I haven't seen an alphabetical sorting used, nor is it sorting by kills or xp. I'm stumped. To be honest, if Jagex could just return the list to always show same ranks with newest clanmates last, this issue for me is solved.

Secondly and most importantly, my clan does not remain friends with anyone who's been caught botting. Anybody who has had their xp rolled back for botting and I've seen and captured the proof in screenshots gets perm banned from the clan. The issue here is going through each clanmates' xp on a daily basis. It is getting very annoying, especially with the constant re-ordering of the list. Is there a way to grab the raw data and have it automatically input to the correct cell in my excel spreadsheet so that the spreadsheet flags those who have been caught for botting? The only question I have of this is how to deal with name changers, but I'm ok manually changing the formula to the new name. I do know of the raw data that is accessible for grabbing players' total xp from the hiscores table. On the other hand, I do not know how to put only their total xp into the specific cell into the spreadsheet on a one time daily schedule where any xp losses are flagged. I do this all 1 by 1 at the moment and it's getting on my nerves.

If you are able to help and love a challenge for problem solving, I'd be thrilled to work with you. I can login to this with a name if necessary and even use skype to confer on how to handle this task.

If I'm wrong for asking this here, please let me know and I'll delete the page myself. I just didn't know where else to ask for help. And if any of my plight can be used to enhance the wiki, I'm all for being the guinea pig.

Thank you.

I'm with you on the first point. There doesn't seem to be any sort of order to Jagex's listing in the clanmates list. Would be heaps easier if they could order it by date joined. Though that's nothing we can really help you with, and you would probably have better luck on the runescape forums for it.

But your second point, which is more of a technical thing, I may be able to help you out slightly with. I assume by your post that you know how to access the raw data via '<playername>' (yes, I did just copy that from the wikia description). I personally use PHP scripts for downloading this data daily and placing it into a database for my own website (for completely different reasons of course, but the method is the same). I don't work with excel spreadsheets a lot, but I don't think there's any way to automatically update cells in the sheet. Databases may be the best way to go ;) Sundays211 06:41, October 20, 2011 (UTC)

Me again.

Thanks for replying. I have MS Office 2007, which has Word, Access, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint, Infopath...

I use Excel for keeping the records manually, but by clicking the data tab and selecting "import from website" i'm able to get the raw data into the cells and make it update on any schedule I want, however it just puts the entire sheet of numbers seemingly randomly sorted into the spreadsheet so finding and using the Total Xp numbers is not working for me that way.

I have used Access for keeping a database of customer records, and it also has the XML info import but again I don't know how to tell it to grab only the Total Xp number.

I also use Runetrack and have the signature which shows the xp total and ranking and cb lvl to the hundredths place, so I know it's possible to use that raw data page to sort them. I just truly don't know how to grab the exact info I need from it atm.

Thank you again for responding, if you wish to contact me a different way, I'm glad to offer u my skype id.
