Guide Request[edit source]

Could someone post a link or something to a tutorial on how to make a basic Calculator? Like a combat experience one? I want to make one for something.

There are two guides already in existence. The first is a guide on advanced Wikimarkup and the backend of calculators (the calculation itself). It can be found at User:Gaz Lloyd/Guides/Calculators. The second goes into more detail about the display aspect, explaining how to make the inputs for the JS (JavaScript) calcs. It can be found at User:Quarenon/Scripts/Calc. If you have any questions that are not answered in the guides, feel free to talk to me at my talk page (User talk:Dd4235).MiningDD4235TalkSmithing 03:39, September 16, 2010 (UTC)

Farming Calc[edit source]

added a farming calc for trees, working on adding fruit trees and flowers, etc. also, anyone want a Firemaking calc? didnt see one - Hiro

I'll start on farming allotment calcs The Alphy 07:42, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

alotments are alot harder, since the harvest varies TehHiro 16:58, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Added all fruit trees as well, but the sortable tables aren't really working. any ideas why? TehHiro 19:28, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

dairy calculator[edit source]

Can someone make a calculator for turning milk into butter or other dairy items? Aswell as turning dairy items (ie cream) to something else like chesee or butter please. Thankyou!

Fletching darts[edit source]

I think a dart calc similar to the bolt calc would be good.

Fletching half/full bows, buying the logs of buying half bows?[edit source]

It'd be nice if this was implented, along with high alch profit and such... I think it would be widely used ;)

Yes this would be useful, I think stringing magic longbows is the fastest xp--Thai tong 11:51, August 19, 2010 (UTC)

Mining calc[edit source]

I think mining the ore gives you the xp and the extra to sell for smithers (ie:runite ore + coal.) you could sell or smith it.Fauzer 08:15, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

Runecrafting Tablets[edit source]

I think there's a nice opportunitie to improve a calc wich calculates the cost in tokens (Runecrafting Guild tokens) and exp in each altar. (exp / tokens) Diegos91 20:13, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

i wanna clarify this (I'll put some of them, not all):

Teletablet 25 ess 26 ess 27 ess 29 ess 34 ess 42 ess 53 ess

Air (30 t ea) (25*5/30) (26*5/30) (27*5/30) (29*5/30) (34*5/30) (42*5/30) (53*5/30)

fire (37 t ea) (25*7/37) (26*7/37) (27*7/37) (29*7/37) (34*7/37) (42*7/37) (53*7/37)

law (43 t ea) (25*9.5/43) (26*9.5/43) (27*9.5/43) (29*9.5/43) (34*9.5/43) (42*9.5/43) (53*9.5/43)

blood (45 t ea) (25*10.5/45) (26*10.5/45) (27*10.5/45) (29*10.5/45) (34*10.5/45) (42*10.5/45) (53*10.5/45)

why do im requesting this calc? because this calculator will help a little bit rcers what to choose. in addition of air, mind, water, to blood, etc you can put comb runes ( but those are not used) and air, water, earth gloves (2x exp)

A note on item costs[edit source]

I'm not sure if I wrote that part very well, or if it's even needed. Feel free to remove or mangle it as appropriate. Pointy 01:42, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

This is funny. I need a RS calculator this morning and wondered what would happen if searched for it in here and there was nothing. Now half a day later, there's something! It's like you read my mind.-- 02:16, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I knew you were going to say that. :-) Pointy 21:38, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

-[edit source]

What exactly do negative values mean? Christine 00:20, 5 April 2008 (UTC)

It means you make that much profit per experience point. I was trying to think of a better was of showing that. Maybe red text for costs, green for profits? Pointy 12:13, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh. I apparently had it backwards then lol. I like the idea of different colors. Christine 00:02, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

An idea for a new smithing calculator[edit source]

A calculator that tells how much profit / loss you get by smithing an item from a bar/ores made into a bar.Mathwiz908 00:17, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

It's good. Why don't you come up with the calculations? If you have problems, contact me at my talk page.   az talk   03:32, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Hi not sure how to correct it but the smithing calculator does not properly calculate multiple items(i.e) knives, darts and nails, I tried to fix it, but my attempts just made an error, someone that knows how can tell me how and i would be happy to fix them.

Idea for a new combat skills calculator[edit source]

A new calculator that enables you to calculate your, attack, strength, defense, range , mage and other combat related stats.(Scimitar 561 08:12, 21 May 2008 (UTC))

New calcs?[edit source]

Maybe a cooking calc with stuff on pizzas and vegies? Maybe a firemaking and woodcutting calc?
Or a fletching calc when buying logs?
Or a cooking calc with buying fish? Or a fishing calc with time taken?

Buzz (Talk#P ) 12:07, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm working on firemaking now, but with woodcutting, the only thing i could think of would be exp/gold, with the logs being sold. i dont think that would work becuase it would assume you could cut 1k yews in the time it takes to cut 1k willows. TehHiro 23:25, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I have been looking for a Woodcutting calc

Max Hit Calc?[edit source]

Could somebody try to make a max hit calculator? That would be nice I think.

Article?[edit source]

This is not an article because it doesn't deal with in-game stuff. If necessary, could someone move it to "Runescape:Calculators" or something? AriasCombatSwords.pngKnight 01:30, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Magic Spell costs[edit source]

It seems the template nesting is once again breaking the usefulness of the article (much like Grand_Exchange_Market_Watch/Melee broke in early March. If anyone is interested I put together a spreadsheet for this very purpose (it was a personal project i started working on a couple of months ago). ~kytti khat 00:37, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Actually, it was all okay until you decided you put the combination runes and staffs into the calculator. Maybe too much information made it sweat too much, and broke.
What happened to Grand_Exchange_Market_Watch/Melee. Can you explain further?
Try removing the changes you made, and see whether it works. Don't undo it, as I made some changes to the font colors.
  az talk   03:15, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Maybe someone could create a different calculator for combination runes and the use of staves.
  az talk   03:40, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Here's the discussion thread link Talk:Grand_Exchange_Market_Watch#What_is_limit_for_items_on_a_GEMW_page.3F. As it turned out it was a problem with template expansion. Every byte that goes into *any* template can run up against this internal limitation if enough templates are included (even if inclusion is by nesting or other means). ~kytti khat 04:15, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

A full Smithing calc?[edit source]

I stumbled upon the Smithing calculators, and found out that the 1 bar version only lists 5 items. Perhaps a more complete calculator would be more useful(no offence intened)? I would fix it myself, but I'm not too familiar with the code to link the G.E. prices. E.T. Prod U (Talk) 20:55, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

None taken. The 1-bar version is fixed.   az talk   12:53, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Heblore potion making calc update idea[edit source]

include possibilities such as person got the vial of water for free or the person got the herb for free (for example if they got it in a monster drop). Mathwiz908 18:26, 21 August 2008 (UTC)

Also new possibility, give profit/loss for buying the (unf) potion and then adding the second ingredient. Mathwiz908 19:07, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to see a calculator that starts with the unf pot and adds the second ingredient, since that is the faster experience after all. --troacctid 02:25, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Pest Control Calculator[edit source]

tell you how many pest points you need for a particular level, and how much money you would get getting there.(Jdogy15 02:36, 23 August 2008 (UTC))

Fishing Calculator Please...[edit source]

Can someone PLEASE make a fishing calculator? I'm sure it would be used alot...

               Umbreon 0 23:28, 23 August 2008 (UTC)Umbreon 0
By a fishing calculator, do you mean how much profit you can make from buying the bait/feathers rod etc. and obtaining the fish either cooked or raw? i've been looking into this and i may be able to sort it out. My page!My Favourite Weapon!

And a quest calculator would help as well- you know- you could type in all of your skills' levels and it would show a list of all the quests you can do.

               Umbreon 0 00:23, 2 September 2008 (UTC)Umbreon 0

Clear to personalise[edit source]

I'd like to see a total profit/loss so we can change it in our head for ourselves, if we get runes or vials for free. Cost of oppertunity doesn't really matter.

Also, one for brewing? Buying yeast from ge, even then I don't know which is profitable. Probably tiny.. dunno if id bother.-- 10:14, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

High Alch[edit source]

Has anyone thought of a high alchemy calculator? I know it would be infinitely large, but maybe just or some worthwhile items, ones with a positive or slightly negative profit? I could contribute, but it would take a LOT of people to complete? What do you think? ContributionsBunnies1230Talk 18:04, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

If you include the opportunity cost, the result is that for almost all items it results in a loss. The only exceptions are items where the demand is extremely high and the supply is low. GE price floors are the reason for this. 12:53, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

: I had decided to create one, and had not checked this Talk page until just now. It's located here. It's pretty much empty right now, and I have one question: Using the View:price command will return the Exchange price, is there anyway to do this for the High alch price? Thanks. Kabnett 16:18, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

High alch price not that i know.
But i suggest adding categorys, like Armour, Weapons, Bows etc.
When the article becomes bigger and bigger its getting harder to find an item. Ranged Dh ranger2Talk#EditsArmadyl helmet.png 08:46, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
Is there any way to put all the values in, but then have it only display items that alches for a profit? TehHiro 19:42, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
There is a HighAlch view I think. Look at the doc page. Rich Farmbrough, 19:08 27 January 2009 (GMT).
It would be trivial to add access to the HighAlch values in the GEMW database. Special calculators that made comparisons between the current GE price and the high alchemy values were one of the features I did anticipate when I tried to put together the GEWM data format. Not all items have the correct values or even have them entered, but that is just a matter of updating the "Exchange" pages with the correct values. I'm sorry I haven't been paying attention to this page to put this feature in. --Robert Horning 12:46, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
Can you also add items that actually make a profit? The only such item now is rune hasta.  —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talk).
That's simply because there aren't any others... If there are, it would change every day. What's profitable today could be unprofitable tomorrow. That said, it'd be nearly impossible to create a comprehensive list of all the items you could high alch for a profit. kitty.pngPsycho Robot talkSilver bar.png 20:31, September 19, 2009 (UTC)

Which category[edit source]

I am developing a calculator figuring out the cost food per hp it heals (here) and i was wondering what category it should be in. Should it be others or should it be cooking since all the food is made by cooking?? Also, i do know that it is a strange calculator, i just wanted to be able to make a calculator where i did most of the work. Plus i was wondering it the other day Unicorn horn dust.png Evil Yanks talk

Since you're buying the food and not cooking it, it would go under Other I suppose. --troacctid 05:57, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Kk. I finished making it. i will add it tomorrow encase somebody else wants to comment plus i really don't have enough time now Unicorn horn dust.png Evil Yanks talk

Now i am making a calculator figuring out cost for making potions from the unfinished potion (here. Should it be put underneath making potions or just make a page for unfinished potions since the current page is already very big?? It should go in the herblore section. --troacctid 00:12, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
I know but do i make it its own page or just use the current potion making page??
Oh, it doesn't matter I suppose. Might as well add it to the existing page, since I can't think of a good name for it if it were separate. --troacctid 00:35, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Summoning pouch swapping calculator[edit source]

If there's anyone willing to take this one up, I'd be interested in a calculator that can tell me the gp/shard from buying pouches on the GE and swapping them with Bogrog for shards (in lieu of buying shards directly). troacctid 03:54, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

No supercompost[edit source]

I just noticed that the none of the herb farming calculations include the cost of the supercompost. Well, because of opportunity costs and the mechanics of the Grand Exchange, it would technically be identical to the regular potion calculator. --troacctid 00:39, 28 February 2009 (UTC)
