Gold ores and smithing gloves[edit source]

Can anyone confirm or deny whether goldsmithing gauntlets (also cooking, chaos..) will have any effect when smithing, or how it will work? --Agamemnus 19:23, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

The blog says "the effects of the bonus XP weekend will override any other items or areas that enhance XP rates", so I assume the gauntlets will have no effect during the weekend. Stewbasic 19:27, March 1, 2010 (UTC)
I know that it says that, but maybe they are just talking about degradable stuff? It'd mean that gold ore will not even give the normal exp but even lower... that is possibly ridiculous.--Agamemnus 19:34, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

Goldsmithing gauntlets effect of double xp would be overrided by the weekend effect(2.7-1.1 of normal rate)so you'd get some bonus over smithing without gauntlets, and for first 3 hrs bonus would be as good as or better than smelting with gauntlets normally

Chaos Gauntlets and cooking gauntlets affect damage dealt and fish burnt respectively, and not xp rate directly, so each should work ( in conjunction) with the bonus xp rate208.125.126.250 19:09, March 4, 2010 (UTC)Krazy kid314

Along the lines of smithing gold. i'm still getting 1.1x xp Briod the Bean 10:49, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Announcement date[edit source]

Does anyone know when this was announced? The blog (released on February 26) seems to indicate that it was announced prior to that in the "newsletter". I'm wondering whether things like granite, magic tree seeds and palm tree seeds are jumping because of this (the latter are coming back down, but they did recently spike). I'd imagine people would be stocking up for any activity involving a lot of preparation time followed by very quick xp collection. Stewbasic 19:27, March 1, 2010 (UTC)

ZMI Altar?[edit source]

Will things that are part of the game that give enhanced xp still do so? The altar isn't an item, it isn't degradable, but it would give you quadruple "normal" runecrafting experience. Vlastne 22:23, March 2, 2010 (UTC)

Edit: Because the gilded altar and ectofuntus won't work, it's possible it will apply to the ZMI altar, but those give 350-400% bonus, while ZMI just gives double. Vlastne 22:33, March 2, 2010 (UTC)
Mod Fnord says "Ourania altar: Will be affect by the bonus XP.", see his post on page (erm, hope I've linked to the forum correctly). Stewbasic 08:10, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

Grrr[edit source]

I feel like throwing bricks at Jagex's headquarters, for making this member-only and also for the Hitpoints update. Unfortunately, I don't live in the UK. Arghhh. --Nup(T) 07:55, March 5, 2010 (UTC)

Hiscores[edit source]

Someone should webcite the number of 99 summoners on the hiscores the day before the bonus xp, then cite it again after. I think that the number will skyrocket, which would make the cites good for trivia. Unicorn horn dust.png Evil Yanks talk 02:35, March 7, 2010 (UTC)

Unfortunately I wasn't around to check either at the start or the end, but someone on the forums said it increased by 30%. Stewbasic 22:42, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

Dude if u ant bonus xp so much just be a member its so cheap. I mean, we deserve a lot more than u cuz we pay.

Ancient Bones[edit source]

I still have my ancient bones from the restless ghost quest and was wondering if the bonus xp rate would apply iif i bury them then, or if not because they are a reward for a quest. Anyway i'll probably try it out and update this later. 19:12, March 4, 2010 (UTC)Krazy kid314

I think it does, but for me it sure seemed like it gave less xp! I would've rather waited and used them with the ectofuntus :( Woodcutting-icon.png Talk Megakid39 Firemaking-icon.png 20:06, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

What you did was actually increddibly wise. You got Bonus XP from Ancient bones on the weekend. You cannot use the ancient bones with a POH alter or the ectofuntus, I tried both. Well done. Coelacanth0794 20:12, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

Dammit! I still have mine too but now its too late. Hopefully they do this thing again.Steam Punker 07:28, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Yay I feel happy! Woodcutting-icon.png Talk Megakid39 Firemaking-icon.png 01:30, March 31, 2010 (UTC)

The formula is wrong[edit source]

According to page, "The calculation of the multiplier will be done every time XP is awarded, at the moment it is awarded. It is calculated on a per-minute rate, if that helps. (So, the modifier after 1 hour 15 minutes will be different from that at 1 hour 16 minutes)." This is very important, and means the hour-formula they gave us is incorrect, seeing that it is by minute, not hour. --Vegeto079 18:13, March 10, 2010 (UTC)

As long as you express minutes as fractions of hours (e.g. 1 hour 30 minutes = 1.5 hours) the formula works fine. Quest.png Gaz Lloyd 7:^]Events!99s 18:17, March 10, 2010 (UTC)
Still, doing that for various minutes is tiresome and seems to be a waste of time. Figuring out the exact decimals for such things is just unnecessary. I know a few people who have seen the formula and we all are under the impression that the first hour will be at 2.7, and it will go down with time...the whole hours thing confused us all, until I read the FAQ Jagex had only in the forum. ((hours-10)/7.5)²+1.1 is the he original formula. ((minutes-600)/450)²+1.1 would be an easier equation, wouldn't it? I guess it's not a big deal, but I just think the whole hour formula is a bit confusing, especially when it doesn't note anywhere that non-whole numbers are allowed. Prayer.png Vegeto079 Talk HS Prayer.png 20:30, March 10, 2010 (UTC)
It's not by minute either. I never saw it go to 2.6. It went straight from 2.7 to 2.5 after 12 minutes.--Agamemnus 18:05, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

The weekend's hours are all screwed up. You can find the per-hour ratios for xp here [1]. Also, in the actual page it would be useful to use this [2] as a citation in the "trivia" section. It may also be beneficial to notify that the experience amount on the clickable tab is BONUS experience gained from the weekend, NOT total experience (as told here [3]) Prayer.png Vegeto079 Talk HS Prayer.png 19:30, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

Of course Jagex screwed up even more than usual. Usual is natural for them -- got 3 randoms with the timer still ticking, I think, what?--Agamemnus 19:42, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

MACRO WEEKEND W00T[edit source]

Forumal changed[edit source]

The formula and the pic was removed from the blog, and the multiplier rate does not match. It must have been changed, so what should we do about it (the section and pic) ? LPSZMBucket detail.pngrwojy 09:44, March 13, 2010 (UTC)

Activities[edit source]

I've confirmed that the bonus applies to the circus, my levels shot up four times for each event, plus the XP tracked by the meter spiked. 18:24, March 13, 2010 (UTC)

I've Confirmed that Shattered Heart does not give bonus xp. Did it with Fishing and farming and no bonus xp. Thunder9092 02:58, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

Cannon?[edit source]

I think it might be worthwhile to mention the benefits of using a multicannon during this weekend. I've gained 100-150k bonus xp from 2 hours of killing slayer tasks in multicombat areas. 02:10, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

mod posts on forums[edit source]

Does anyone follow the forums enough to notice if any mods have responded in any way to the various discussions? Good bad or indifferent?--Degenret01 13:01, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

To my knowledge they noted that summoing xp gained such an advantage that at least some aspect of any possible future XP weekends would have to be altered in some way, but i was unable to re-find the post to quote. Tortilliachp 22:17, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

Cool. I'm sick of reading about advantages that older players have had in the past from bugs and bad updates etc. Now I am one of those ppl lol. 52-64 summon in a few hours. Tyvm.Steam Punker 07:35, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Buying[edit source]

Later on I burned a load of mage logs at 1.7 down to 1.1. If I had thought it through I would have sold my "spare" barrows armour sets and dragon axe and burned a lot more at higher multiples - and made 92 FM! As I indicated in the strategy section them best measure is to minimise the "loss" that the XP gain entails by doing the most "loss making" thing that it makes sense for you to do to reach your goals, whether that is burning mage logs, firing zillions of cannonballs or zipping through charms and tertiaries. Rich Farmbrough, 12:40 15 March 2010 (GMT).

still getting bonus xp[edit source]

i tried to put this up earlier this morning but there was an error. anyways this morning i started smelting gold ore but noticed i was only getting 25xp, which is about 1.1x extra exp. this happened at about 6:45a.m. eastern time. btw i was using goldsmithing gauntlets Briod the Bean 19:54, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

I believe that's because the bonus weekend officially ended 7:00 a.m. monday morning, EST. 01:38, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

Next weekend Speculation?[edit source]

It is currently rumoured in the RuneScape community and on the official forums that the next bonus xp weekend will be held on the weekend of Friday the 16th of July. Players are stating that it has been unofficially confirmed by an unnamed Jagex Moderator, the fact that there is only three updates scheduled this month also furthers these claim. However this is all speculation as no future weekend date has been officially confirmed at this time

anyone got any proof? Jasonbeaverson 02:50, July 7, 2010 (UTC)

There are generally 3 updates a month (and 1 off week). I believe it when I see the news announcing it on main page. HaloTalk 02:48, July 7, 2010 (UTC)
