This talk page is for discussing the Assassination of Guthix page.

Posting some images here to avoid them being in UnusedFiles. I'll add them to the article this weekend. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 17:26, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

Decision continuity, canon?[edit source]

The way the article is written seems to assume that during the "last stand" specific guardians were set to fight in specific storage wings, and I get the feeling this is just the writer projecting their own choices onto the page...is there any actual lore declaring that it happened this exact way, or is the writer selecting arbitrarily? Can it be assumed that four best options were canon (I'd expect not), in which case the article, from what I recall, is incorrect? I say unless there is a source for these choices being canon, the page should be rewritten as per the Wiki's standard on player-made choices (evident in other parts of this very article) to account for uncertainty and individual player choice, rather than the current text which explicitly states that such-and-such happened. An anonymous contributor (talk) 01:31, April 7, 2013 (UTC)

Given that there are 4! = 24 possible choices for the positioning of the guardians, I logically chose to use the correct one, where all Guthixians are assigned to their correct wings. That makes the thing more professional IMO, and the choices reaaly only matter while doing the quest itself, and thus can be found on the TWW article. Assassination V Death[edit source]

Seems some IPs want this to be changed to the "Death of Guthix". From what I understand their argument is that Guthix was aware of Sliske and therefore that means that it was not a surprise killing. Discuss What I've done Ciphrius Kane Talk 20:50, September 3, 2013 (UTC)

It should stay assassination. Assassination involves a prominent person, political or otherwise(check) who is usually taken by surprise. Guthix wasn't taken by surprise but he doesn't have to be for it to be an assassination. I'd imagine that's the IP's main point of contention. 04ismailjj6 (talk) 21:07, September 3, 2013 (UTC)
Additionally, "death" would describe the final moment of the series of events, whereas "assassination", which, perhaps per definitionem, involves a strong motivation, reason, victim, etc., would be more suitable to cover the entire thing. "Hunt for Guthix" or something along those lines would fit too. User_talk:Fswe1 Fswe1 Brassica Prime symbol.png 06:28, September 4, 2013 (UTC)
For all intensive intents and purposes, the attack was a surprise. Guthix may have known his chamber was infiltrated, but not necessarily that it was Sliske who would kill him. Power to see into the future was mentioned in the god letters, but I don't believe it to be canon; it was a roleplay way to answer questions about future updates.
