The summer barbecue is a rare item that was available from the Squeal of Fortune during the Sizzling Summer promotion. It is a portable range that provides a 10% experience boost and may be used to cook 999 items by the player who deployed it. This includes food that is burnt when cooked. The charges are counted based on each item cooked, not the number of times the barbecue is deployed. When deployed, it will last for about 5 minutes, or until the player retrieves it. You can only cook on the barbecue when the summer barbecue is in your inventory. It was disabled during 2013, becoming a purely cosmetic item.
However, on July 30, 2018, it was a possible reward from popping balloons dropped by Jagex moderators testing a new balloon dropping system.
The item became available again for a short time as a possible reward from popping balloons dropped during the Summer Escape event in 2019. All remaining barbecues were removed from players' banks and backpacks somewhere around 12 August 2019, and only the cosmetic variant could be retrieved from Diango.
It is an inferior version of the portable range, which offers 21% more Cooking experience along with a 5% chance of doubling your food.
