Slayer training/High-levelled
This guide is aimed at players who wish to maximise their Slayer experience per hour. It is assumed that the player is familiar with slayer mechanics and is both high levelled and well-equipped. This guide assumes you will be using Morvran (level 85+), until you can use Laniakea (level 90+), as your Slayer master for all tasks. This guide is focused on high slayer rates, and as such, task profitability will rarely be mentioned or taken into account.
This guide assumes you have an optimised Revolution++ action bar.
Quest unlocks[edit | edit source]
For every 50 quest points the player has, they will be able to prefer or block an additional task; therefore, having a high amount of quest points is generally recommended
Quests that unlock tasks that would otherwise be blocked are not included in this list.

Slayer Codex and Sunken Pyramid[edit | edit source]
With the release of Menaphos, players with at least level 99 Slayer can fill their Slayer Codex. It is advised to invest slayer points and time to collect at least 100 different monster souls. For every 20 souls collected, slayer helmets grant a +1% gain (up to 5% at 100 souls) to Slayer experience, effectively being an experience boosting item.
In addition to the Slayer Codex, players with at least 99 Slayer have access to a Sunken Pyramid. The following slayer assignments are recommended to fill the three rooms available, or a player can access another player's dungeon if they have a needed room setup.
Assignment | Reason | Recommended amount of spawns |
---|---|---|
Muspah | Two additional spawns (the Cradle only possesses three somewhat slow spawns). Place in the small room. | 5 |
Ripper Demons | With only 1 Ripper Demon, it removes the <35% player's life points aggression mechanic, meaning that no other demons will become aggressive towards the player when health drops below 35%. This also allows for safe use of AoE abilities. | 1 |
Crystal Shapeshifters | Easier grouping and use of AoE abilities. Place in the small room. | 5 |
Shadow creatures | Easier time attacking multiple shadows at once and use of AoE. Best to put Manifest Shadows in your dungeon as they are greater experience/kill than other shadow creatures. Place in the small room. | 5 |
Hydrix dragons | Easily AFKable by standing under the spawn point, as the dragon uses relatively weak melee and magic attacks that can be easily healed off of via Soul Split. | 1 |
In addition to the slayer monsters, some Sunken Pyramid rooms benefit from prayer restoring monsters via the use of a Bonecrusher and Demon horn necklace.
Monster | Reason | Recommended amount of spawns |
---|---|---|
Mogre | 1950 LP, has the least life points but does not aggro even with aggression potion, not good for AFK | 2 - 4 |
Suqah | 2650 LP, least life points among aggro options | 2 - 4 |
Sophanem Crocodile | 2900 LP, drops only big bones, great for area looting | 2 - 4 |
Hill Giant | 3200 LP, good for Champion's Challenge | 2 - 4 |
Slayer points[edit | edit source]
This guide assumes you have the following Slayer rewards unlocked, although you may adapt as needed.
Reward | Cost | Reason |
---|---|---|
Ability to make Ring of slaying. | 300 | Various teleport locations reduce downtime between tasks. |
Ability to deliver killing blows quicker. | 400 | Tasks such as gargoyles will not be slowed down from need to manually kill each gargoyle when they are at low health.
A legendary pet with the Slayer Finisher ability may be used until this is unlocked |
Ability to craft Slayer helmets. | 400 | Slayer helmet is the most important piece of equipment. |
Learn how to fuse rings to Full slayer helmets | 500 | Ferocious rings fused into helmets work at Kuradal's Dungeon, allowing a player to wear a ring whilst still benefiting from the damage boost of the ferocious ring |
Full slayer helmet upgrades. | 2100 | Increases the effectiveness of Slayer helmet. 4 upgrades. |
Ability to persuade Kuradal, Morvran, and Laniakea to assign Nightmare creatures | 50 | High rates of Slayer experience |
Other rewards are either quality of life improvements, unnecessary task unlocks or general consumables.
Ushabti used to fill the Slayer Codex can be bought from the masters at 20 Slayer points each.
Tool belt[edit | edit source]
Players can add many Slayer items to their tool belt, such as a rock hammer and some special items (charming imp, bonecrusher, herbicide, seedicide, advanced gold accumulator). The latter items require 500 slayer points each to be able to be added to the tool belt.
The bonecrusher upgrade, bought from Waiko for 25,000 chimes and 25 taijitu, picks up bones rather than crushing them. This is extremely useful at any slayer task that drops expensive bones, such as airuts, adamant and rune dragons. It is worth noting that if the player does not have this, a legendary pet can pick up bones too, although at a slower rate.
Additional requirements[edit | edit source]
Although these are not actual requirements, they are necessary to reach higher experience rates and should be used at all times.
Prayers[edit | edit source]
You should always use Turmoil/Anguish/Torment to increase your kills per hour. If you can afford them, Malevolence/Desolation/Affliction should be used as they provide greater bonuses. Soul Split, whether constantly active or via prayer flicking, will serve as the player's "food" for a majority of tasks, negating the need to bring actual food, though a few should be taken for emergencies.
For some tasks, notably dragons, you can use a bonecrusher in conjunction with demon horn necklace. This method negates the need for prayer potions during task. This can also be used with monsters that drop ashes via the use of the attuned ectoplasmator; though it will eat considerable profit due to the cost of ghostly essence.
Stat-boosting potions[edit | edit source]
Overloads boost your kills per hour significantly and should be used at all times. Either holy overloads or aggroverload/elder overloads with super prayer renewal. It is not necessary to use elder overloads, though a player may choose to if they have a surplus or wish to increase their kill speed.
Searing overload or Super antifire potions are necessary for dragon tasks as using a dragonfire shield would reduce kills per hour. Likewise, a wyrmfire potion which is also included in any salve combination potion is needed for Wyvern tasks.
Weapon poison+++ can be used to great effect on most slayer monsters and should be used in conjunction with cinderbane gloves and kwuarm incense sticks if the player has them.
Relic powers[edit | edit source]
Relic powers can be obtained through the Archaeology skill to unlock permanent passive buffs to assist in training Slayer among other things. Only 3 relic powers with a combined energy cost of 650 or less can be active at one time. See Optimal PvM Relic Power Setup for recommendations.

Miscellaneous[edit | edit source]
Armour spikes (alloy) should be used when possible; alternatively armour spikes for a cheaper option.
Aggression potion can be used if not using aggroverload to gather up monsters faster and use area of effect abilities. This is recommended for corrupted creatures and soul devourers, who are found in large numbers and can be easily stacked.
Scrimshaw of sacrifice if the player choose to not care about the drops but rather get more experience, they may minimise the cost by activating the scrimshaw the last few seconds of the kill.
Tuska's Wrath is a basic constitution ability. It requires level 50 Constitution to use. The ability deals damage equal to 10,000% of (or 100×) the player's Slayer level (including any stat changes) against their current Slayer assignment. It will use this calculation even if that number would be less than 110% weapon damage. The ability has a two minute cooldown period upon being used. It retains its normal cooldown against specific enemies however, such as most bosses.
Summoning familiars[edit | edit source]
There are 3 categories for familiars that would assist in high-level slayer tasks—Combat, Beast of Burden, and Healers.
Use of combat familiars like Nihil at level 87 or Steel titans at level 99 can increase your experience rates. Nihils are only needed for particularly troublesome tasks such as airuts and Kal'gerion demons, who possess high defence and low affinity values, as even the best equipment can still miss relatively often without resorting to an accuracy aura. Otherwise, steel titans should be used, as most monsters don't possess fairly high defence levels or low affinity values that would make it troublesome for their accuracy.
Beast of Burden familiars may be used at tasks where the additional inventory can prove helpful, such as ripper demons and camel warriors. Otherwise, magic notepaper should be used to cert drops from monsters such as airuts. Pack yaks are incredibly useful for most slayer tasks due to their ability to bank up to 240 items per hour, and adding 30 spaces to the player's inventory to fill with extra supplies and carry loot.
Legendary pets are by far the best option for those who want to make some money off of slayer without hindering their experience rates much. These pets have 3 incredibly useful abilities: Scavenge, Beast of Burden and Slayer Finisher. The Scavenge ability picks up items after killing enemies with a 10-15 second cooldown. The second ability makes it act as a beast of burden when a pouch is used on the familiar. The third ability is for Nechryael tasks for automatic kills if quick kills is not unlocked.
Cannons[edit | edit source]
The Dwarf Multicannon (with the restocking perk) is another incredibly useful piece of equipment, which is often used to speed up tasks. The Oldak Coil is further recommended to be used instead of the Dwarf Multicannon, if possible. These are incredibly useful for dark beast and edimmu tasks, as they constantly cycle aggression towards the player whenever they are hit. Most tasks can generally be completed within the duration of the cannon (25 minutes), and even then maintenance is fairly low if it breaks, with a simple click to get it back up and running again. Note that some areas will prohibit the use of these cannons, so aggression potions should be used in their place if necessary.
Equipment[edit | edit source]
Slayer helmet[edit source]
The most essential piece of gear is the Slayer helmet and its variants. While they have relatively low defensive stats, they give a 12.5-14.5% increase to damage and accuracy when slaying monsters on-task.
All slayer helmets incorporate all slayer headgear effects, and are able to have up to 5 fully charged Rings of slaying and 6 fully charged Ferocious rings added to them, with 60 and after unlocking the ability for 500 Slayer points. All slayer helmets can be stored on the Anachronia slayer helmet stand, granting its on-task damage and accuracy boost as a passive effect, allowing players to wear any style specific helmet. Rings of slaying and Ferocious ring effects do not work with the helmet on the stand.

Recommended equipment[edit source]
You should always use the style that your slayer assignment is weak to, with some exceptions which will be detailed in the slayer table.
- Always use the highest level Slayer helmet that you have (alternatively store it on the Slayer helmet stand and then use any helmet you wish
- For melee-classed enemies, use the
Inquisitor staff as it switches to T97 damage
- For magic-classed enemies, use the
Hexhunter bow as it switches to T97 damage
- For ranged-classed enemies, use the
Terrasaur maul as it switches to T97 damage
Notes:
- Players who reach 100% hit chance should opt in for the Amulet of souls and Dark magic aura if Maniacal aura is on cooldown.
- Players should use the best weapons they can for damage, and their best power armour.
- The noxious scythe, Masuta's warspear and Dragon Rider lance are far superior to other melee options due to their increased attack range and synergy with area of effect abilities.
- Cinderbane gloves are extremely useful against monsters that are not immune to poison, as they apply a poisonous effect to all monsters the player is in combat with.
- Laniakea's spear is a competitive option due to its unique passive effect, which can pair with Cinderbane gloves and weapon poison, and its increased attack range.

Notes:
- Demon Slayer is recommended due to Ripper Demons being the best Slayer experience and best preferred task.
- Dragon Slayer is useful if players prefer dragon slaying tasks
Transportation options[edit | edit source]
The Slayer cape ability allows for fast transport to Lanikeia or Morvran (for Morvran, upgraded ferocious rings also work) and is the fastest and best option when obtaining a new task. Players can use the same item to quickly get to Kuradal's Dungeon.
With 99 Dungeoneering, the Dungeoneering cape's perk can be used which has a teleport option to any resource dungeon and can be convenient for reaching some otherwise remote slayer monsters, such as the Dragontooth Island celestial dragons resource dungeon. A charged Hoardstalker ring has the same teleport options but has limited charges.
After completion of the Fate of the Gods and all optional quests for The World Wakes, Juna will give you the Sixth-Age circuit, a fast transportation method to the World Gate, from which you can reach Muspah, Nihil, Nightmares, Crystal Shapeshifters, and Rune Dragons.
Having a ring of slaying provides one of the fastest means of transportation to the Slayer Tower, where creatures like Abyssal Demons reside. Slayer masks also provide a daily number of teleports to their relevant creature's locations.
Cancelling and blocking tasks[edit | edit source]
Slayer assignments can be blocked at any slayer master for 100 slayer points; this requires the player's current assignment be the creatures they wish to block. Up to eight assigned monsters, or group of monsters such as grotworms or mutated jadinkos, can be blocked in this manner, with one block allowed every 50 quest points.
Cancelling the assignment costs 30 points. The monster must be the currently assigned task for it to be cancelled. In order to maximize efficiency, players should cancel tasks which are commonly assigned yet offer slow rates of Slayer experience, often due to issues such as the inability to use a cannon and/or a titan, low life points, or other factors, such as long animations or specialized killing methods. Please see the task summary section below to determine which tasks should be considered for the use of a block.
Players are recommended to use the cancel option as often as it can be used while maintaining a stable level of Slayer points. This will ensure that the player spends as much time as possible doing tasks which offer fast Slayer experience.
The task summary section of this guide will tell you which tasks to block, which to skip, and which to complete if you are running low on Slayer points. For example, a player who is running low on points may do a greater demon task even though these tasks are usually cancelled. These tasks also give out more ferocious rings if done in Kuradal's Dungeon.
If a toggleable task is on that the player does not wish to do, toggle the task off, as it is essentially a pseudo-block.
Guide to optimal tasks[edit | edit source]
This table is not indicative of a monster's weakness or other irrelevant data. This table instead serves as a reference point for optimal task completion. Slayer rates are calculated using recommended equipment and Revolution++.
This table is purely based on maximal xp/hr rate. The actual xp/hr rates will vary based on skill/equipment and how active one is when doing these tasks. Players are suggested to make an informed decision based on which tasks they prefer based on their pros and cons. Some of the faster tasks may be done to get slayer points quickly.
Task | Slay xp/hr | Use | Slayer Lvl | Notes | Pros | Cons |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Prefer | ||||||
Gemstone dragons | 1400k Hydrix | Ranged | 95-101 |
Use notepaper + enhanced bonecrusher to collect bones, or demon horn necklace and bonecrusher combo for prayer restore, or Scrimshaw of sacrifice for amazing experience |
Requires the ability to solo the first two bosses of elite dungeon 2. Expensive to use mechanised chins. Dangerous specs if not avoided, Hydrix dragons impair adrenaline, slowing down kills. Need antifire potions. | |
Ripper Demon | Darklight 700k
Legacy 1959k |
Melee | 96 | Use upgraded Darklight and have low ping to dodge instant-kill attack.
Legacy blood barrage with vamp aura |
Extremely high experience per hour. Chance of receiving cursed amascut sand, which is quite valuable, along with other valuable drops. Miner's journal drops for the master quest cape. Good money when using Binding contracts. | Potentially difficult and lethal task for beginners, requiring players to stay focused to avoid death. |
Soul devourer | 680k | Melee
Mage if killing imperial guard akh or Magister |
105-117 | Use halberd either salawa, feline, scarab or crocodile akhs. Gorilla akhs are not recommended due to having high health, less experience and lucrative drops compared to the other akhs below it. The latter three may be more difficult to AFK due to various mechanics (felines and crocodiles have high-hitting special attacks while scarabs apply Vulnerability but are almost always guaranteed to be empty. Imperial guard akhs are discouraged as they cannot be AFK'ed due to being able to use highly damaging abilities. The Magister may be killed for more experience but players must account for the price of keys and short-term profit loss. | Extremely high experience per hour. Use of an aggression potion and AoE abilities can ensure high kills per hour. Has a different loot mechanic than most other monsters, making it slightly more laid back. Potentially good drops including Key to the Crossing , vital spark , Corrupted gem. Bring vital spark drop enhancers when doing this task. | Require a Feather of ma'at to be killed (if not killing the Magister). When using aggression potions, the player may get overwhelmed. corruption mechanic |
Shadow creatures | 680k Manifest | Melee | 1 | Use 5 Manifest shadows in personal slayer dungeon Sunken Pyramid with an aggression potion or use a Tirannwn quiver 2 or higher in Prifddinas. | Extremely high experience rates per hour.
Chance to get part of the Penny pet |
Drops not as good as most other monsters, and players can be overwhelmed with use of an aggression potion. |
Nightmare | 650k | Melee/Mage | 80 | Use halberd ranged weapon in Sunken Pyramid, aggression potion increases experience rates but also increases the danger from their ball attack. | Extremely high experience rates per hour. Frequently drop Muspah spine which may be used to create the Nightmare muspah pouch for profit. Valuable alchable drops. | Special attack that may kill an inattentive player. Difficult to fight multiple at once due to significant risk of getting overwhelmed. |
Lost Grove creatures | 610k Golem
Legacy 1324k |
Mage/Melee | 104-108 | Kill golems or bulbous crawlers for higher experience rates. Enhanced devoted perk is highly recommended.
Legacy blood barrage moss golems with a cannon and aggro pots to get fast afk xp |
Profit/experience rates are reversed - vinecrawlers provide the least experience but most valuable drops, while golems provide the most experience but least valuable drops. Bulbous crawlers are a mix of the two, with fairly equal experience and profit rates. All monsters in this category can drop cinderbane gloves, the ancient elven ritual shard and a torn grimoire page. | May require a significant amount of food as all monsters in this category can hit extremely high (over 3,500 damage in a single hit). |
Acheron mammoth | 600k | Melee | 96 | Extremely fast and profitable task. Use Soul Split and stab weapons. Dodge ranged and charge attacks (Devotion/Debilitate helps). | High experience rates and profitable task due to drops of Mammoth tusk and Cursed amascut sand. | Potentially difficult and lethal task for beginners, as players can be easily killed by charges and ranged attacks which can deal very high damage. |
Corrupted creatures | 580k (Worker) | Melee | 88-103 | Extremely fast task. Use a unicorn stallion or a scrimshaw of vampyrism with Soul Split flicking to restore any lost health. Players may choose between scorpions, scarabs or workers as all of these use melee and can be drawn in with aggression potions. Other corrupted mobs cannot be easily AFK'ed as ranged or magic is present, preventing clumping. | Extremely high experience rates per hour. | Require a Feather of ma'at to be killed. When using aggression potions, the player may get overwhelmed. corruption mechanic |
Elves | 560k
chinning 1200k |
Melee | 1 | Use halberd to fight Iorwerth scouts and guards for elf tasks. Killing them while Voice of Seren is active adds extra experience.
Properly lure Cardan elves using Demoralize and Rout chin with a combat dummy for fast afk xp |
Both scouts and guards can use bleeds and stuns and can disable protection prayers/deflect curses. | |
Living wyverns | 530k | Melee | 96 | Extremely fast and moderately profitable task. Use melee with a blood nihil and scrimshaw of vampyrism as ranged/magic is significantly slower and players take more damage. It is highly recommended to fight them in melee distance regardless of equipment used, because the wyvern's melee attack is weaker and easier to predict, whereas the magic and ranged attacks are nearly impossible to predict and the attack immediately deals damage before the projectiles even hit the player. Kill wyverns until 90% freeze then return to a fire to warm up. | Heavy damage inflicted by both the monsters, can often be overwhelmed. Stay in melee range as they deal considerably less damage. | |
Crystal shapeshifters | 500k | Melee/Ranged | 80 | Best done with 5 in Sunken Pyramid using aggression potions and a halberd. Watch out for bleeds. | High experience task, fairly valuable drops. Drop Tarddian crystals, which are used to make crystal armour, which provides a damage boost against them. | Hybrid monsters that adapt to the player's combat style, attacking with what the player is weakest against. See here for additional information. |

Airut | 470k | Melee | 92 | Extremely fast and profitable task with tier 90+ melee, scrimshaw of vampyrism and a blood nihil. | High experience and profit task. Task can be forced via the Mask of airut. Use of a bonecrusher and a demon horn necklace, along with auto-sanctifier, also yields significant prayer experience. The Spring cleaner is highly recommended for salvage drops. Frequent drops of sharks which may be used if food is needed. | Special attacks dealing rapid and high damage, which can overwhelm players using aggression potions. Can also increase their defence as their health lowers which makes them harder to hit without tier 90+ weapons and a nihil. |
Nodon dragonkin | 450k Nodon artificer
Legacy 600k |
Ranged (Use dragonbane arrows)
Mage (Use air spells) |
1,92 | Nodon artificers recommended as their spawns are closer allowing for easier use of aoe abilities and mechanised chinchompas.
Legacy blood barraging is 600k phr and afk |
Nearby siege engines can be repaired and used for faster kills. Can use bonecrusher + demon horn necklace for unlimited prayer. Battlefield abilities can make kills easier. | Has special attacks although they can easily be avoided or tanked and healed off via soul split. Mechanised chinchompas will miss without sharpshooter auras. |
Kal'gerion demons | 440k | Melee | 90 | Recommended to use upgraded Darklight for fast kill rates. | Very high defence even with best-in-slot gear. | |
Abyssal demons | 400k (demons) | Melee (halberd) Ranged (chinchompas) |
85 | Extremely fast task at demons and savages, although at the cost of less experience. Beasts and lords provide much more experience but take longer to kill. | Can be forced via Mask of the abyss. Very fast task with minimal effort when killing demons, savages or beasts. Any monster can be afk'ed. | Beasts and lords require semi-afk as they can deal high damage and overwhelm the player. Can be crowded at demons. |
Camel Warriors | 390k | Melee | 96 | Mirages slow down kill time but can be dealt with easily. | Can drop cursed amascut sand. | Desert heat if not killing in the Sunken Pyramid (unless Crocodile Tears is completed) and fairly spread out spawns. Maging 682k |
Ranged | 71,99 | Fairly slow task.
350k/phr using animate dead, cryptbloom, dual wield with greater chain and greater conc blast, and vamp aura fairly afk, use guthix staff eof to lower the defence and affinity of elite soulgazers. Don't forget fellstalk and dwarf weed sticks. |
Chance for Veil-ripper Ozharakha, which has guaranteed drop of hexhunter bow. | Relatively high health and damage. Elite soulgazers use considerably more food compared to normal ones. |
Edimmu | 360k | Melee | 90 | Extremely fast and profitable task, use a halberd to kill edimmu faster.
Requires 115 Dungeoneering to enter Edimmu Resource Dungeon. |
Very profitable task. Affected by the Amulet of salve and its enhanced version. Use of Spring cleaner, Attuned ectoplasmator, and Auto-sanctifier recommended. Elite edimmu has chance of dropping Eddy. | Use of cannon over aggression potions is preferred. Cost of cannonballs can add up. Players may be overwhelmed by numerous edimmu if using a cannon. |

Can use cannon within the Mourner Tunnels for an even faster task. |
Can be forced via the Mask of gloom. Drops big bones which allow the use of bonecrusher + demon horn necklace for unlimited prayer. | Use of aggression potions discouraged as damage taken is often too high. |
Cres's creations / Automatons | 320k | Ranged | 67 | Any combat style can be used but magic or ranged are recommended to stay out of range of random special attacks. | Can be forced via the Mask of the Automatons once every three days. | Special attack may happen randomly for any automaton within the area and hit very hard. This can be avoided by taking off AOE abilities (including Corruption shot/blast) as any automaton that has been targeted immediately sets off their special attack timer, even if they haven't been hit. |
Ice strykewyrms | 310k | Mage
(Use fire spells) |
93 | Use fire spells and a fire/kiln cape for increased damage output | Can be forced via the Mask of white wyrm. Extremely fast to kill due to the increased damage output from capes and fire spells. | Require a fire cape or Kiln cape to do any damage, if the perk to damage them without either cape has not been bought. Strykewyrms (Cluster task) | ? | Magic | 73 - 94 | Fast task if Ice strykewyrms are killed. Use fire Spells with Fire Cape, Kiln Cape, or Igneous capes for double damage. | ||
Skip | ||||||
