This guide is aimed at players who wish to maximise their Slayer experience per hour. It is assumed that the player is familiar with slayer mechanics and is both high levelled and well-equipped. This guide assumes you will be using Morvran as your Slayer master for all tasks. This guide is focused on high slayer rates, and as such, task profitability will rarely be mentioned/taken into account
This guide also assumes you have an optimised Revolution++ ability bar

Slayer Codex and player-owned dungeon[edit | edit source]
With the release of Menaphos, players with at least level 99 Slayer can fill their Slayer Codex. It is advised to invest slayer points and time to collect at least 100 different monster souls. For every 20 souls collected, slayer helmets grant a +1% gain (up to 5% at 100 souls) to Slayer experience, effectively being an experience boosting item.
In addition to the Slayer Codex, players with at least 99 Slayer have access to a player-owned dungeon. The following slayer assignments are recommended to fill the three rooms available, or a player can access another player's dungeon if they have a needed room setup.
|Assignment||Reason||Recommended amount of spawns|
|Kal'gerion demons||When fought in a player owned dungeon, Kal'gerion demons do not use their special attacks.||2|
|Muspah||More monsters in a smaller room with increased respawn speed makes it easier to use AoE abilities.||5|
|Ripper Demons||With only 1 ripper demon, it removes the <35% player's life points aggression mechanic, meaning that no other demons will become aggressive towards the player when health drops below 35%.||1|
|Crystal Shapeshifters||Easier grouping and use of AoE abilities.||5|
|Shadow creatures||Easier time attacking multiple shadows at once and use of AoE. Best to put Manifest Shadow Creatures in your dungeon as they are greater experience/kill than other shadow creatures.||5|
|Hydrix dragons||High AFK experience rates and easier to avoid mechanics||1|
|Monster||Reason||Recommended amount of spawns|
|Mogre||1950 LP, has the least life points but does not aggro even with aggression potion, not good for AFK||2 - 4|
|Suqah||2650 LP, least life points among aggro options||2 - 4|
|Sophanem Crocodile||2900 LP, drops only big bones, great for area looting||2 - 4|
|Hill Giant||3200 LP, good for Champion's Challenge||2 - 4|
Slayer points[edit | edit source]
This guide assumes you have the following Slayer rewards unlocked, although you may adapt as needed.
|Ability to make Ring of slaying.||300||Various teleport locations reduce downtime between tasks.|
|Ability to deliver killing blows quicker.||400||Tasks such as Gargoyles will not be slowed down from need to manually kill each gargoyle when they are at low health.
Note: A legendary pet with the "Slayer Finisher" ability may be used until this is unlocked
|Ability to craft Slayer helmets.||400||Slayer helmet is the most important piece of equipment.|
|Learn how to fuse rings to Full slayer helmets||500||Ferocious rings fused into helmets work at Kuradal's dungeon, allowing a player to wear a ring whilst still benefiting from the damage boost of the ferocious ring|
|Full slayer helmet upgrades.||2100||Increases the effectiveness of Slayer helmet. 4 upgrades.|
|Ability to persuade Kuradal and Morvran to assign Nightmare creatures||50||High rates of Slayer experience|
Other rewards are either quality of life improvements, unnecessary task unlocks or general consumables.
Tool belt[edit | edit source]
Players can add many Slayer items to their tool belt, such as a rock hammer and some special items (charming imp, bonecrusher, herbicide, seedicide, advanced gold accumulator). The latter items require 500 slayer points each to be able to be added to the tool belt.
The Bonecrusher upgrade, bought from Waiko for 25,000 chimes and 25 taijitu, picks up bones rather than crushing them. It is worth noting that if the player does not have this, a legendary pet can pick up bones too.
Additional requirements[edit | edit source]
Although these are not actual requirements, they are necessary to reach higher experience rates and should be used at all times.
For some tasks, notably dragons, you can use a bonecrusher in conjunction with demon horn necklace. This method negates the need for prayer potions during task. This can also be used with monsters that drop ashes via the use of the attuned ectoplasmator; however, this is often very costly and not recommended
Overloads boost your kills per hour significantly and should be used at all times. Either holy overloads or supreme overloads with super prayer renewal. It is not necessary to use supreme overloads over holy overloads, however, a player may choose to if they have a surplus or wish to increase rates by about 2% dps.
There are 3 categories for familiars that would assist in high-level slayer tasks - Combat, Beast of Burden and Healers.
Use of combat familiars like Nihil at level 87 or Steel titans at level 99 can increase your experience rates. Nihils should only be used if the player is suffering from an accuracy problem but not to the point where a beast of burden would be required such as wyverns. Otherwise, steel titans should be used as the primary offensive familiar due to their reasonably high damage output compared to other combat familiars.
Beast of Burden familiars may be used at tasks where the additional inventory can prove helpful, such as some bosses and slayer monsters, such as rune dragons. Otherwise, magic notepaper should be used to cert drops from monsters such as airuts. Pack yaks are incredibly useful for most slayer tasks due to their ability to bank up to 240 items per hour, and adding 30 spaces to the player's inventory to fill with extra supplies and carry loot.
Legendary pets are by far the best option for those who want to make some money off of slayer without hindering their experience rates much. These pets have 2 incredibly useful abilities: Scavenge and Beast of Burden. The Scavenge ability picks up items after killing enemies with a 10-15 second cooldown. The second ability makes it act as a beast of burden when a pouch is used on the familiar.
The Dwarf Multicannon (with the restocking perk) is another incredibly useful piece of equipment, which is often used to speed up tasks. The Oldak Coil is further recommended to be used instead of the Dwarf Multicannon, if possible. Either of these cannons can be used and, once set up in the spawn area of your task, will remain active for 25 minutes before degrading, which is often long enough for the entire task to be completed. The cannon further makes many tasks very easy to complete due to the continuous attacks by the cannon which keep the player in combat for the life of the cannon.
Equipment[edit | edit source]
You should always use the style that your slayer assignment is weak to, with some exceptions which will be detailed in the slayer table
Players should use the best weapons they can for damage, preferably tier 90, and at least tier 80 power armour. The noxious scythe and Dragon Rider lance are far superior to other melee options due to their increased range and synergy with area of effect abilities
Augmentation[edit | edit source]
Using good perks on augmented items through Invention will highly increase the damage dealt and thus increase overall Slayer experience per hour.
Recommended perks for slayer:
|Aftershock||Weapon||3||After dealing 50,000 damage, create an explosion centred on your current target, dealing up to 40% per rank weapon damage to nearby enemies.|
|Precise||Weapon||5||Increases your minimum damage by 1.5% per rank of your maximum damage.|
|Equilibrium||Weapon||3||Increases minimum hit by 3% per rank, and decreases maximum hit by 1% per rank.|
|Biting||Weapon, Armour||3||+2% chance per rank to critically hit opponents.|
|Genocidal||Weapon, Armour||1||Deal up to 7% extra damage depending on how far you are through your Slayer task. Highly recommended perk to use when on slayer tasks.|
|Crackling||Weapon, Armour||3||Periodically zaps your combat target for 50% per rank of your weapon's damage. 1 minute cooldown.|
|Undead Slayer||Weapon, Armour||1||Deal 7% additional damage to undead.|
|Demon Slayer||Weapon, Armour||1||Deal 7% additional damage to demons.|
|Dragon Slayer||Weapon, Armour||1||Deal 7% additional damage to dragons.|
|Impatient||Weapon, Armour||3||9% chance per rank for basic abilities to generate 3 extra adrenaline.|
|Scavenging||Weapon, Armour||3||1% chance per rank to get an uncommon Invention component as a drop from combat (with a 1% chance it will be a rare component instead).|
|Planted Feet||Weapon||1||The duration of Sunshine and Death's Swiftness is increased by 25%, but they no longer deal periodic damage to your target.|
A recommended augment setup is as follows:
|Weapon||Aftershock 3||5 Ilujankan|
|Precise 4 + Equilibrium 2||1 Armadyl + 4 Precise||Can use 5 Precise components instead.|
|Top||Biting 2 + Genocidal||3 Direct + 1 Bandos + 1 Undead|
|Crackling 3 + X (see below)||4 Explosive + X|
|Bottom||Impatient 3 + Devoted 2-3||5 Zamorak||Devoted is unnecessary.|
|Scavenging 2 + Mobile||2 Smooth + 3 Connector|
|Enhanced Excalibur||Planted Feet + Aftershock 1-2||2 Cywir + 3 Ilujankan||Use before using Sunshine or Death's Swiftness.|
|Sunspear||Planted Feet + Aftershock 1-2||2 Cywir + 3 Ilujankan||Aftershock resets after weapon switch.|
|Mobile + X||1-2 Dexterous + X||Replaceable.|
Transportation options[edit | edit source]
The Slayer cape ability or upgraded ferocious rings allow for fast transport to Morvran and are always the fastest and best options when obtaining a new task. Players can use the same item to quickly get to Kuradal's Dungeon.
With 99 Dungeoneering, the Dungeoneering cape's perk can be used which has a teleport option to any resource dungeon and can be convenient for reaching some otherwise remote slayer monsters, such as the Dragontooth Island celestial dragons resource dungeon. A charged Hoardstalker ring has the same teleport options but has limited charges.
After completion of the Fate of the Gods and all optional quests for The World Wakes, Juna will give you the Sixth-Age circuit, a fast transportation method to the World Gate, from which you can reach Muspah, Nihil, Nightmares, Crystal Shapeshifters, and Rune dragons.
Cancelling and blocking tasks[edit | edit source]
Slayer assignments can be blocked at any slayer master for 100 slayer points; this requires the player's current assignment be the creatures they wish to block. Up to eight assigned monsters, or group of monsters such as grotworms or mutated jadinkos, can be blocked in this manner, with one block allowed every 50 quest points.
Cancelling the assignment costs 30 points. The monster must be the currently assigned task for it to be blocked. In order to maximise efficiency, players should cancel tasks which are commonly assigned yet offer slow rates of Slayer experience, often due to issues such as the inability to use a cannon and/or a titan, low life points, or other factors, such as long animations or specialised killing methods. Please see the task summary section below to determine which tasks should be considered for the use of a block.
Players are recommended to use the cancel option as often as it can be used while maintaining a stable level of Slayer points. This will ensure that the player spends as much time as possible doing tasks which offer fast Slayer experience.
The task summary section of this guide will tell you which tasks to block, which to skip, and which to complete if you are running low on Slayer points. For example, a player who is running low on points may do a greater demon task even though these tasks are usually cancelled. These tasks also give out more ferocious rings if done in Kuradal's Dungeon.
If a toggleable task is on that the player does not wish to do, toggle the task off to avoid wasting slayer points on cancelling.
Guide to optimal tasks[edit | edit source]
This table is not indicative of a monster's weakness or other irrelevant data. This table instead serves as a reference point for optimal task completion. Slayer rates are calculated using recommended equipment and Revolution++.
This table is purely based on maximal xp/hr rate. The actual Xp/hr rates will vary based on skill/equipment and how active one is when doing these tasks. Players are suggested to make an informed decision based on which tasks they prefer based on their pros and cons. Some of the faster tasks may be done to get slayer points quickly.
|Task||Slay XP/h||Use||Slayer Lvl||Notes||Pros||Cons|
|Ripper Demon||700k||Melee||96||Use upgraded Darklight and have low ping to dodge instant-kill attack.||Extremely high exp per hour. Chance of receiving cursed amascut sand, which is quite valuable, along with other valuable drops. Miner's journal drops for the master quest cape||Potentially difficult and lethal task for beginners, requiring players to stay focused to avoid death.|
Mage if killing imperial guard akh or Magister
|105-117||Scythe either salawa, feline, gorilla or crocodile akhs. The latter three are significantly more dangerous with improper damage output. Alternatively, one can kill imperial guard akhs or the Magister but at a slightly reduced experience rate. If killing guard akhs, prioritize warriors over magers. Never attack rangers as they cause too many bleeds.||Extremely high exp per hour. Use of an aggression potion and AoE abilities can ensure high kills per hour. Has a different loot mechanic than most other monsters, making it slightly more laid back. Potentially good drops including Key to the Crossing , vital spark , Corrupted gem.||Require a Feather of ma'at to be killed. When using aggression potions, the player may get overwhelmed. corruption mechanic|
|Shadow creatures||680k Manifest||Melee||1||Use 5 Manifest shadows in personal slayer dungeon Sunken Pyramid with an aggression potion or use a Tirannwn quiver 2 or higher in Prifddinas.||Extremely high exp rates per hour.
Chance to get part of the Penny pet
|Drops not as good as most other monsters, and players can be overwhelmed with use of an aggression potion.|
|Nightmare||650k||Melee||80||Scythe in pyramid; aggression potion increases experience rates but also increases the danger from their ball attack.||Extremely High exp rates per hour. Frequently drop Muspah spine which may be used to create the Nightmare muspah pouch for profit. Valuable alchable drops.||Special attack that may kill an unattentive player. Difficult to fight multiple at once due to significant risk of getting owerwhelmed.|
|Lost Grove creatures||610k Golem||Mage/ Range||102-108||Kill golems or bulbous crawlers for longer trips. Enhanced devoted perk is highly recommended.||High exp rates per hour. Good drops including the Cinderbane gloves which are extremely valuable.||May require a significant amount food and/or attention as the monsters can deal a lot of damage.|
|Gemstone dragons||610k Hydrix||Range||95-101||Can stay in melee distance to avoid the spec or surge/escape.||
Use notepaper + enhanced bonecrusher to collect bones, or demonhorn and bonecrusher combo for prayer restore, or sacrifice scrims for amazing xp
|Dangerous specs if not avoided, Hydrix dragons impair adrenaline, slowing down kills. Need antifire potions.|
|Acheron mammoth||600k||Melee||96||Extremely fast and profitable task - use Soul Split and stabbing weapons. Dodge ranged and charge attacks (Devotion/Debilitate helps).||High exp rates and profitable task due to drops of Mammoth tusk and Cursed amascut sand.||Potentially difficult and lethal task for beginners, as players can be easily killed by charges and ranged attacks which can deal very high damage.|
|Corrupted creatures||580k Worker||Melee||88-103||Extremely fast task - use a unicorn stallion or a scrimshaw of vampyrism with Soul Split flicking to restore any lost health. Use aggression potions at northern spawns as southern spawns are too spread out for the potion to work.||Extremely high experience rates per hour.
|Elves||560k||Melee||1||Scythe Iorwerth elves - killing them VoS is active adds extra experience.||Both scouts and guards can use bleeds and stuns and can disable protection prayers/curses.|
|Living wyverns||530k||Melee||96||Extremely fast and moderately profitable task. Use melee with a blood nihil and Scrimshaw of vampyrism as ranged/magic is significantly slower and players take more damage. Kill wyverns until 90% freeze then return to a fire to warm up.||Heavy damage inflicted by both the monsters, can often be overwhelmed.|
|Crystal shapeshifters||500k||Melee/Ranged||80||Best done with 5 in pyramid using aggression potions and a scythe. Watch out for bleeds.||High exp task, fairly valuable drops. Drop Tarddian crystals, which are used to make crystal armour, which provides a damage boost against them.||Hybrid monsters that adapt to the player's combat style, attacking with what the player is weakest against. They can also apply stuns and bleeds and roll around for high damage.|
|Airut||470k||Melee||92||Extremely fast and profitable task with tier 90+ melee, scrimshaw of vampyrism and a blood nihil.||High experience and profit task. Task can be forced via the Mask of airut. Use of a bonecrusher and a demon horn necklace, along with auto-sanctifier, also yields significant prayer experience. The Spring cleaner is highly recommended. Frequent drops of sharks which may be used if food is needed.||Special attacks dealing rapid and high damage, which can overwhelm players using aggression potions. Can also increase their defence as their health lowers which makes them harder to hit without tier 90+ weapons and a nihil.|
|Abyssal demons||400k||Melee (scythe)
|85||Extremely fast and profitable task - either kill at Kuradal's or Slayer Tower (with contract and Morytania legs 4). Note that the latter option is significantly more packed than the former.||Can be forced via Mask of the abyss. Very fast task that can be done with minimal gear. Use of a Demon horn necklace with Attuned ectoplasmator allows prayer restoration but can be costly.||Often overcrowded|
|Kal'gerion demons||440k||Melee||90||Best done in pyramid as special attacks have no effect there. Recommended to use upgraded Darklight for fast kill rates.||Very high defence without proper magic gear or enhanced Darklight.|
|Camel Warriors||390k||Melee||96||Mirages slow down kill time but can be dealt with easily.||Can drop cursed amascut sand.||Desert heat if not killing in the Sunken Pyramid (unless Crocodile Tears is completed) and fairly spread out spawns. Also requires a considerable amount of food compared to the other raptor mob tasks.|
|Stalker creatures||370k Soulgazer||Range||71,99||Fairly slow task.||Chance for Veil-ripper Ozharakha, which has guaranteed drop of Hexhunter Bow.||Relatively high health and damage - elite soulgazers use considerably more food compared to normal ones.|
|Edimmu||360k||Melee||90||Extremely fast and profitable task, use a scythe to kill edimmu faster.||Very profitable task. Affected by the Amulet of salve and its enhanced version. Use of Spring cleaner, Attuned ectoplasmator, and Auto-sanctifier recommended. Elite edimmu has chance of dropping Eddy.||Use of cannon over aggression potions is preferred. Cost of cannonballs can add up. Elite edimmus can deal significant damage.|
(Use fire spells)
|95||Very fast task with an oldak coil in the agility dungeon (resource/main dungeon has too many runts).||Can be forced via the Mask of ganodermic. Drops big bones which allow the use of a bonecrusher and demon horn necklace to replace prayer potions.|
|Chaos Giants||350k||Melee||1||Decent drops, fast and AFK task if a cannon is used with a scythe.||Use of a Bonecrusher + Demon horn necklace provides unlimited prayer for healing and curses.||Cost of cannonballs can add up quickly.|
|Dark beasts||340k||Mage/Range||90||Extremely fast and profitable task.
Can use cannon within the Mourner Tunnels for faster task.
|Can be forced via the Mask of gloom. Drops big bones which allow the use of Bonecrusher + Demon horn necklace for unlimited prayer.||Use of aggression potions discouraged as damage taken is often too high.|
|Automatons||320k||Range||67||Any combat style can be used but magic or ranged are recommended to stay out of range of random special attacks.||Can be forced via the Mask of the Automatons.||Special attack may happen randomly for any automaton within the area and hit very hard. This can be avoided by taking off AOE abilities (including corruption shot/blast) as any automaton that has taken damage has the potential to use their specials despite if they are attacking the player.|
(Use fire spells)
|93||Use fire spells and a fire/kiln cape for increased damage output||Can be forced via the Mask of white wyrm. Extremely fast to kill due to the increased damage output from capes and fire spells.||Require a fire cape or Kiln cape to do any damage. Elemental spells other than fire deal reduced damage.|
|Vyrewatch||280k||Mage||67||Relatively fast task with the Sunspear, which also provides decent Firemaking and Prayer experience.||Endlessly aggressive, allowing for continuous kills.||May be overwhelmed if not paying attention, tends to be crowded.|
|Celestial dragons||270k||Range||1||Fairly slow task. Only attacks using dragonfire special when outside melee distance, so super antifire potions provide complete protection and are recommended.||Fairly fast to kill. Drops are always noted as well as often valuable. Can use Bonecrusher + Demon horn necklace for unlimited prayer.||Often scattered far apart. Drops are too variable and clutter the inventory. Timestop mechanic disallows attacking multiple dragons at a time, do not use aggression potions.|
(Use blood barrage)
|76||Very fast task as Muspah take double damage from ancient spells.||Fast and profitable task.||Usually done on ancients, which disallows use of High level alchemy. Explorer's ring allows 15 runeless high alchemy casts per day.|
(Use dragonbane ammunition)
|1||Somewhat slow task.||Very profitable, with Reinforced dragon bones and Small plated rune salvage guaranteed per every kill. They have reasonably valuable drops.||Slow task, use of dragonbane ammunition is mandatory.|
|Black dragons||180k||Range||1||Skip if not killing King/Queen Black Dragon||Killing Queen Black Dragon is recommended||Slow task|
|Greater demons||180k||Range/Mage for K'ril||1||Skip if not killing K'ril Tsutsaroth||Killing K'ril tsutsaroth is recommended||K'ril and only one of his minions count as greater demons, resulting in a slow task.|
(Use water spells)
|75||Very fast task to complete, use aggression potions to guarantee continuous combat.||Can be forced with Helm of Grotesquery. Very fast and easy task, drops plenty of rune items so spring cleaner is recommended.|
|Waterfiends||160k||Range||1||Skip||Extremely good source of Crimson charms and extra Slayer experience can be applied when killing in the Wilderness.||Can deal somewhat high damage.|
(Use water spells)
|1||Skip||Very fast, afk, and easy task using aggression potions.|
(Use water spells)
|1||Skip||Very fast, afk, and easy task using aggression potions.|
(Use earth spells)
|1||Skip||Very fast, afk, and easy task. Dragons are always aggressive so potions not required.||Fast task, may be done for slayer points|
(Use water spells)
|1||Skip if not killing the Kalphite King/Queen or corrupted variants|
|Ascension members||100k||Range||81, 95||Skip if not killing Rorarius or Legiones (this option having a high input/low output)||Very fast, afk, and easy task using aggression potions.
Additionally can be profitable task.
(Use air spells)
|1||Skip||Fast, afk, and easy task. Dragons are always aggressive so potions not required.||Fairly slow task.|
|Dagannoths||70k||Melee||1||Skip if not killing the Dagannoth Kings.||Killing Dagannoth kings is recommended||Slow task if killing Dagannoth kings|
|Aviansies||50k||Range||1||Skip if not killing Kree'arra.||Killing Kree'arra is recommended.||Kree and all of his minions count as aviansie. Moderately fast task|
|Block / Skip|
|Nechryael||240k||Melee||80||Poor drops and spawn amount but is a fast task.||Fast task if using aggression potions.|
|Mature grotworms||200k||Range||1||Poor experience rates.||Can use bonecrusher and Demon horn necklace to keep prayers up.||Mediocre drops and low experience rates.|
|Lava strykewyrms||200k||Range||94||Highly profitable task but reside only in the Wilderness and Dragonkin Laboratory. If you complete the task in the wilderness, do not bring items you are not willing to lose. In the elite dungeon, the lava strykewyrms can be found in the section after Astellarn.|
|Black demons||180k||Range||1||Poor experience rates and drops, should always be blocked.|
|Mutated jadinkos||130k||Mage||80,86,91||Somewhat lacklustre experience rates but is a fast task.|
|TzHaar||90k||Mage||1||Fast but spawns are spread apart from each other.|
|Desert strykewyrms||80k||Mage/Range||77||Fast task.|
|Glacors||300k||Mage||1||Poor drops and experience rates due to glacyte mechanic despite taking double damage from fire spells.||Good for crimson charms drop. Profitable task due to boots and armadyl shards.||Long and slow kills due to mechanics. Special attack can deal a lot of damage|
|Tormented demons||130k||Melee||1||Requires switches and significantly more effort compared to other tasks.||Profitable task due to Dragon crossbow limbs drop||Slow kills due to the demons' prayer switching.|
|Nihil||100k||Range||76||Good drops but somewhat lacklustre experience rates.||Profitable task due to nihil parts||Dangerous to aggro more than one at a time.|
|Aquanites||50k||Melee||78||Bad task.||If combined with the use of seedicide, a good amount of farming exp can be gained.||Generally poor drops and very low experience per hour.|
Bursting corrupted scarabs[edit | edit source]
Bursting Corrupted scarabs on a daily basis can give significant slayer exp which adds up over time. The experience and reputation gained from the Scarabs scales with the player's level but decreases with the amount of scarabs squished. This decrease resets at 00:00 UTC.
