Skilling off-hands

Skilling off-hands are items that can be equipped in the off-hand slot to provide benefits to certain non-combat skills. Although they are not weapons, they can also be used to cast Bladed Dive. Skilling off-hands are not currently augmentable, but this is being considered for a future update.[1]

There are currently four skilling off-hands:

Despite not having any usage requirements, due to the Artificers measure and the Orthen furnace core being untradeable, their creation requirements can also be considered their usage requirements.

Development[edit | edit source]

Although not considered to be skilling off-hands, the Combined Catalyst fragment and its three components are items that are similar in function, and predate the skilling off-hand concept. The idea was originally revealed at RuneFest 2017 along with concept art for several planned skilling off-hands, but their development was cancelled. Mod Shauny later picked up the project for Game Jam (2019) before he left Jagex, halting their development again. Two skilling off-hands were finally released as rewards from the Orthen Dig Site, though different from Shauny's original concept. A second pair of skilling off-hands was added to the game among rewards from the Croesus skilling boss in the Elder God Wars Dungeon.
