The Shantay disclaimer is a basic item that used to be given to players when passing through the Shantay Pass. It was a disclaimer, saying that no responsibility is taken if the player dies in the desert. It was always pretty much a useless item, and its only use was to abbreviate the guard chat by two clicks if you carried it through on a subsequent passage (still required a new Shantay pass). It was similar to the flier.

In July 2007, the warning system upon entering the Shantay Pass was taken over by the Doomsayer, and as a result the Shantay Disclaimers were removed.

For a short time in RuneScape Classic, when the Shantay Pass was first introduced, Shantay Disclaimers were tradeable on free worlds.
